Why not Jdeveloper10.1.2  support ADF Faces?

Thanks.

ADF Faces is still in active development and is changing on a very regular basis with the release of Early Access builds. JDeveloper 10.1.2 on the other hand is production software and was released with production components.
However you can plug ADF faces into 10.1.2 see the article:

  • Weblogic Portal 10.3.5 using JSF 1.2 portlets with ADF faces

    We are developing Portal site using Weblogic Portal 10.3.5 with JSF portlet 1.2 and ADF faces (ADF Application runtime 11.1.1.5 ). But the JSF portlets not supporting ADF faces. Please let me know how we use ADF faces in JSF portlet 1.2 in Weblogic Portal.

    Hi Murthy,
    We did a detailed analysis.
    (1) How do we add ADF taskflows, JSF in to weblogic portal desktop/pages? Do we create portlet out of JSF, and display on desktop/page? If this is the case, what about ADf task flows?
    --> Taskflows can be deployed as WSRP2.0 portlets. Note 2 options are there JSF page as portlet or taskflow itself as portlets.
    (2) How do we integrate weblogic user profiles and UUP (unified user profiles) with ADF and JSF?
    --> ADF Security can use Weblogic Server realm as the security provider. Entitlements in WLP will have to be provided based on Weblogic Server roles. In case you are using external LDAP then both can be integrated withe external LDAP
    (3) Can anybody shed some light which this better?
    (a) weblogic portal with JPF (Java page flows), NetUI --Legacy approach
    Pros:
    -Easy Development
    -Well tested integrated
    Cons:
    -Future support
    -Enhancements may not be available
    -Not really portable or standards based
    (b) weblogic portal with ADF, JSF?
    Pros:
    -If your on Oracle stack then great
    -Standards based
    Cons:
    -JSF Portlet bridge issues
    -ADF Faces does not work on IE6!
    Well what we are going for is JSR 286, Trinidad components (Supports IE6), JSF.
    Difficult choice.

  • Need file adf-faces-skins-doc.xml

    Hi
    I have down loaded the latest ADF release. I want to customize the ADF skins, I am not able to find file adf-faces-skins-doc.xml in skins folder which explains the Style sheet attributes of the ADF component.
    Can any one please send me this file or tell me the location on internet where I can find it.
    Thanks

    Hi!
    Download the sample application. The file you're searching for should be inside the warfile.

  • I created an Apple ID using my ISP Email when I registered at the Store/Apple Support Communities/iTunes/Face Time and it does not work in iChat. Why Not ?

    Question:-
    I created an Apple ID using my ISP Email when I registered at the Store/Apple Support Communities/iTunes/Face Time or other portal and it does not work in iChat. Why Not ?
    Answer:-
    For a Name to work in iChat it has to be an Valid AIM screen Name.
    Only Apple IDs from the @mac.com ending names registered here  and the Mobileme (@Me.com ending) names are Valid with the AIM service as well as being Apple IDs
    (I am still working on info about registering with iCloud at the moment but if this does give you an @Me.com email it may well be a valid AIM name as well)
    NOTES:-
    The @mac.com page works by linking an external (Non Apple) email with a @mac.com name.
    This External Email cannot be one linked to an Existing Apple ID (you have to use a second email or register at AIM )
    The options at AIM are to use your existing email or create new name and link the existing only for Password recovery
    MobileMe (@me.com ending names) were valid Emails addresses, Apple IDs AND a Valid AIM Screen Name
    @mac.com names look like emails but are only Apple IDs and iChat/AIM Valid Screen Names.
    The AIM registration page seems to be pushing you to register [email protected] This is relatively new and I have not followed through the pages to find out if it a valid AIM email (Previously you could register a name without an @whatever.com suffix)

    Question:-
    So I have my current [email protected] email in iChat as I thought as I had linked that to an Apple ID it was a Valid iChat Name.  It keeps coming up with a UserName or Password Invalid message.  What do I do next ?
    Answer:-
    Open iChat
    Go to the Menu under the iChat name in the Menu Bar and then Preferences and then Accounts in the new window.
    Commonly written as iChat > Preferences > Accounts as directions/actions to take.
    If it displays with a Yellow running name in the list you have a choice.
    Either register it at AIM (I would use a different password to the ISP Login) and then change the password only in iChat  (It may take you to confirm any Confirmation email from AIM first) in iChat > Preferences > Accounts
    Or you register a new Name at AIM (Or at @mac.com) and enter that (details below)
    If you have a Blue Globe name  (@mac.com) that will not Login the chances are that it the password that is the issue.
    Apple lets you create longer passwords than can be used with the AIM Servers.
    Change the Password at iForgot to no more than 16 characters.
    Then change the password in iChat as details above.
    Adding a new Account/Screen Name in iChat (that is valid with the AIM servers)
    Open iChat if not launched.
    Go to iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts
    Click the Add ( + )  Button at the bottom of the list.
    Choose in the top item drop down either @Mac.com or AIM depending on what you registered
    Add the name (with @mac.com the software will add the @mac.com bit)
    Add in the password.  (If you don't add it now iChat will ask you each time you open it)
    Click Done.
    The Buddy List should open (New Window)
    The Accounts part of the Preferences should now have the new name and you should be looking at the details.
    You can add something in the Description line which will then title the Buddy List (Useful when you have two or more names) and make it show up as that in the iChat Menu > Accounts and the Window Menu of iChat when logged in.
    You can then highlight any other Account/Screen Name you don't want to use and use the Minus ( - ) Button to delete it.

  • JDeveloper 11.1.2.3, ADF Faces: declarative component does not support af:clientListener?

    I am trying to create a declarative component with the following code:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <af:componentDef xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich" var="attrs" componentVar="comp" definition="private"
                     xmlns:afc="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich/component">
        <af:xmlContent>
            <afc:component>
                <afc:display-name>DoubleClickTableDialogClientServerListener</afc:display-name>
                <afc:component-extension>
                    <afc:component-tag-namespace>org.mskcc.crdb.common.declarativecomponent</afc:component-tag-namespace>
                    <afc:component-taglib-uri>http://www.mskcc.org</afc:component-taglib-uri>
                </afc:component-extension>
            </afc:component>
                <af:clientAttribute name="serverListenerType" value="TableDoubleClickEvent"/>
                <af:clientListener method="handleTableDoubleClick" type="dblClick"/>
                <af:serverListener type="TableDoubleClickEvent"
                                   method="#{EditAddDialogTemplateBean.handleTableDoubleClick}"/>
        </af:xmlContent>
    </af:componentDef>
    At runtime I recieve the following error:
    javax.faces.view.facelets.FaceletException: ADF_FACES-60023:Component: DoubleClickTableDialogClientServerListenerComponent[oracle.adf.view.rich.component.fragment.UIXInclude$ContextualFacesBeanWrapper@7170a7, id=dctdcsl1] does not support client listeners.
      at oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.facelets.rich.BaseClientListenerHandler.apply(BaseClientListenerHandler.java:53)
    This component was intended to be dropped off within an af:table component. I would like to hear suggestions on workarounds, one other way I thought about was to create a code template for the three tags, however, the con to this approach is each developer would need to configure this template within jdeveloper. Ideas are appreciated.
    Also a side question, how can I embed code properly with the new forum? [code] tag does not seem to work now.

    Wes, can't help with the real question, but can tell you how to format code
    Change to the advanced editor (top right over the editor field), then you get more options. The one you are looking for is behind the blue '>>'. Here you select the language you want to insert and you get nice code formatting and color.

  • ADF Faces is not supported on IE running in compatibility mode

    hi
    In the blog post "Running ADF Faces applications with IE 9 in IE 8 compatibility mode "
    at https://blogs.oracle.com/jdevotnharvest/entry/running_adf_faces_applications_with_ie_9_in_ie_8_compatibility_mode
    Frank Nimphius explains about headers to make IE browsers behave like a previous version (in compatibility mode), but ends with this support information:
    Very Important(!)
    ADF Faces is not supported on IE running in compatibility mode. If using ADF Faces on IE in production, make sure IE is configured to run in native mode. Compatibility mode may only be used during development if your IE version is not certified with the JDeveloper version you work with. In production then you need to make sure the IE version matches the JDeveloper certification matrix.Reviewing the Release 1 "Certification and Support Matrix "
    at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/index-091111.html#Browsers
    it currently says
    "For Internet Explorer 8 and 9, only Native mode is supported. View Compatibility mode should be disabled. "
    But there currently are no hits when searching for "compatibility" in the Release 2 "Certification and Support Matrix "
    at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/jdev11gr2-cert-405181.html#Browsers
    - (q1) ADF Faces is not supported on IE running in compatibility mode, how much of that applies to JDeveloper Release 2 and where has it been documented?
    many thanks

  • Why not support tree/shuttle layers for Structs/JSP in jheadstart 10.1.2.0.

    Why not support tree/shuttle layers for Structs/JSP in jheadstart 10.1.2.0.
    I want make tree style and shuttle style with Structs/JSP(jheadstart 10.1.2.0) in my project.
    Can you help me.
    Thanks for your help.

    UIX provides tree and shuttle components that generate all the complex javascript required for these UI component.
    We have no plans to create similar javascript ourselves so we can generate this with JSP. The future strategy for JHeadstart will be based on JSF / ADF Faces where we leverage UI components that have this functionality built-in, like UIX has today. With the JSF standard out there, we expect lots of sophisticated new UI components to come out, built by dhtml/javascript/ajax experts (which we are not).
    Our focus (and core competency) is on generating applications by wiring together these sophisticated UI components, and not so much on building new UI components.
    If you want to build this today using JSP I suggest you do some shopping on the internet, you wll probably find some sample code for trees and shuttles.

  • ADF Faces RC browser support and browser market share

    hi
    Given the current browser support in JDeveloper 11g (ADF (Faces RC)), for IE 7.0 (not IE 6), FF 2.0, FF 3.0, ...
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/install.1111/e13666/OJDIG.htm#BDCJBGBC

    (Why Oracle has chosen to do so has been discussed before, in threads ADF 11g: Browser support for Internet Explorer 6, Browser certificaion clarification JDev 11gr1, ...)
    Given some information available online about browser market share ...
    http://marketshare.hitslink.com/browser-market-share.aspx?qprid=3
    http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp
    http://www.w3counter.com/globalstats.php
    http://www.thecounter.com/stats/
    ... it looks like about 20 to 30 percent is still Internet Explorer 6 (which is not supported by ADF Faces Rich Client components).
    Which role should this play in a decision to choose for ADF Faces Rich Client components to build an internet application today?
    Maybe some can share their experience in making such choice.
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken

    Hi Jan,
    (e1) That's a really good example, but the deciding point is different than browser version imho.
    In that example, the hospital control its technological infrastructure so I would say it's safe to ask the users to upgrade as the hospital team is actually going to do it. In this case it depends if the hospital itself is willing to upgrade its apps, not the users. However, the patients are a special kind of users of which at least a small amount will be physically disabled to some point so you'll have to evaluate the accessibility potential of ADF Faces RC and, as most rich libraries, it's not that awesome. So, in that example, I think you would have to use pure Trinidad instead as its accessibility support is a bit better or at least reduce the usage of rich features in RC (like no drag-drop since it's a nightmare for both blind and mobility reduced users).
    (e2) imho, no it wouldn't be safe to use RC if the target date is within 1 year since you don't control the user base in that example and not supporting a browser might cut your customer base and thus reduce your revenue.
    Regards,
    ~ Simon

  • ADF Faces af:table support java.util.Set

    I was using a java.util.Set in my model classes, as implementation of the Collection interface. And wanted to show the Set using a <af:table> after a while I discoverded that the documentation did not mention support of java.util.Set, only List.
    Now I have to convert my collection to List in the backing beans of my view.
    Is there a better approch than converting every Set in the view using
    new Arraylist(set)?
    And what is the reason of the missing Set support (or General Colelction support)?
    Thank you

    Deepak, I don't think you know what you're writing about.
    No, we do not support java.util.Set in <af:table>. For that matter, neither does <h:dataTable>.
    The "why" of it is that we require indexed access into the table for operations like "Display rows 526-550". java.util.Set does not offer indexed access.
    By the way, one corollary - do not use java.util.LinkedList with tables (ADF Faces or the JSF data table). If the list is small, then it won't be a problem, but with a large list, you'll get brutal performance.

  • MyFaces not rendering, ADF faces IS rendering

    I'm installing my app on the websphere application server, Version 6.1 After having issues of both adf and myfaces not working, I came accross this link which helped me somewhat. http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/Websphere_Installation .
    By "not working" I mean that my jsp would have <h:commandLink>'s and <af:commandButton/> however the html was never actually generated. (You could view the pages source and the resulting html page was blank).
    After following those instructions, ADF components are correctly rendered, and the html works. However, I can not use any <h:> or <h:> components.
    Keep in mind, every single part of this used to work while using Tomcat (I think it was 5.5, not 6).

  • Jdeveloper 10.1.3.3.0.4157  ADF faces  Do not render in visual editor

    The ADF Faces Components do not display in the visual editor
    The code window shows all these features present and properly coded
    These components are from the ADF Faces Core page of the Component Pallete
    I tried quitting and re-starting jdeveloper , to no avail
    I placed an af:panelPage on h:form and typed in a title-(blank visual editor)
    I placed an ObjectImage and placed it on the branding facet
    I bound a logo.image to this component - (still blank visual editor)
    All of this insertions into the form are recorded in the code window
    but do not appear in the Visual Designer.
    Using jdeveloper10.1.2.2.0.4157
    JDK 1.5.0_15
    windows xp professional
    The example project is from the Book:
    Oracle JDeveloper 10g for Forms & PL/SQL Developers

    Thank you for your reply.
    On jdevelper startup I get the following message:
    ResourceManager : unable to find resource 'VM_global_library.vm' in any resource loader.
    For no Reason at all,(except for starting and shutting down jdeveloper)
    I am now getting a view: An Outline with tags in order , but not a simulation
    of a web page???But a correct development structure with tags/values identified.
    there are many libraries in the properties page , I'm a newbie so wouldn't
    know if any of these would help?

  • Portlets with ADF faces does not work

    Hello
    I am trying to portlize an hello world ADF application but am unable to do so because of the situation describe below. I have tried all the options given on this post but nothing seems to resolve the issue.
    I have followed the instructions of portelizing at http://download-east.oracle.com/otndocs/tech/webcenter/files/owcs_10132_bridge_viewlet.html
    A simple portlets without AFD works fine in oc4h or webcenter or jboss, but when I include ADF in the project then none of the application server or the container works
    I am using jdeveloper 10.1.3.2.0 and the embedded webcenter oc4j for this test
    I have two projects
    1) ui where the ADF appplication is and
    2) test1 where the producer is registered and is tested
    In ui I have a simple jsp page untitled1.jsp with just one adf component (ADF Command Link)
    Here is the source of untitled1.jsp

    Hello dvohra,
    Thanks for the reply but I have done everything before I posted my message on this forum
    1. Is the Portlet Faces Bridge library in the project libraries?
    yes in both test1 project and ui project. ui project is where the ADF application is and test1 is where the producer is registered
    2. I sent the web.xml earlier in the forum. Yes it include the tags
    here is it again

    3. Yes it include that tag also. Please see the web.xml I pasted above
    4. Yes I deployed it as the simple WAR file and NEVER as a WebCenter Application WAR
    I am assuming that when you refer to web.xml you refer to the one in my ui project where the ADF application is . There is another web.xml file in test1 project where I try to test the portlet. That web.xml is also pasted in my earlier blog
    Any other idea ?
    thanks a lot

  • ADF Faces (Trinidad?) & Facelets Support

    This is long, but help and advice is very much needed.
    My programming team is facing a migration from UIX to JSF (ADF Faces) for future applications and we have hit a road block in regards to a template structure that is easy to use and maintain. We had gone through official Oracle training with JSF, however the trainer's answer to templates was to "create a template and copy and paste for every new file". For our team this is unacceptable so I've been charged with figuring out how to simply templates for our team. Not only do we need to make this easy for our application developers but we need to keep it simple for web developers to create "simple" survey-like applications.
    From what I've come across the answers seems to be either Facelets or Regions.
    Working with Regions seem to be over-complicated, requiring too much replication (basically back to copy/pasting an entire template) or passing the panelPage's content as a java object (bad for our web developers). I presented the combinations to my team and supervisor and it was agreed that Regions are impractical for our development practices.
    So it seems the answer is with Facelets. The problems I have with this is that:
    1. JDeveloper doesn't appear to natively handle Facelets, or include the libraries.
    2. From what I've learned, the ADF Faces library that comes with JDeveloper doesn't have Facelets support either.
    3. Looking into Trinidad, Facelets support exists but there is a lack of the Oracle skin.
    Facelets support is really what my team needs, as it's the closest thing to the old UIX templates I've seen so far.
    I've followed instructions/examples on several posts here, but I've yet to come across an example that works. I've Googled countless pages and examples, but when it comes down to ADF Faces and Facelets, it seems I'm at a dead end.
    So, can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rick
    PS:
    Using JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.0.4066 with stock ADF Faces
    External libraries used:
    Facelets 1.1.11
    Trinidad 1.0.1-incubating

    It just so happens that not long after I posted, I catch the "adf-facelets.jar" on the facelets site.
    dvohra, I had seen the links you've pasted however none of them described the actual process to get it to work, it's all been segmented copy/paste instructions. This doesn't really help someone who is struggling.
    So... I'll paste what my solution was, hopefully this will help others:
    1. Download and install the Facelets 1.1.11 library
    https://facelets.dev.java.net/servlets/ProjectDocumentList?folderID=3635&expandFolder=3635&folderID=0
    2. Download and install the ADF Facelets library
    https://facelets.dev.java.net/servlets/ProjectDocumentList?folderID=3990&expandFolder=3990&folderID=0
    3. In web.xml add the following:
    <context-param>
    <param-name>oracle.adf.view.faces.ALTERNATE_VIEW_HANDLER</param-name>
    <param-value>com.sun.facelets.FaceletViewHandler</param-value>
    </context-param>
    4. Make sure your project's libraries have loaded your Facelets and ADF Facelets, as well as ADF Faces Runtime.
    5. Begin using UI Components as desired.
    Example: http://eugeneciurana.com/pastebin/pastebin.php?show=1308
    Extra notices:
    I had to comment out the following in my faces-config.xml as it conflicted with the web.xml setting:
    <view-handler>com.sun.facelets.FaceletViewHandler</view-handler>
    This is what worked for me, I hope this helps others out there.
    Thanks,
    Rick

  • Validation messages in JSF (when not using ADF faces)

    I've spent some time with JDeveloper 11 and would like to use it on an upcoming project. I have to target IE 6, so I won't be able to take advantage of ADF Faces. Instead I'd like to use the ADF Business Components with a standard JSF interface so it can be used by people still running IE 6.
    I've created a Business Component from a database table and can bind a JSF HTML Creation Form by dragging the appropriate view from the AppModule in the Data Controls pane. However, when I attempt to submit the page without all the fields being valid I get the following validation error message:
    j_id__ctru2:j_id__ctru6: Validation Error: Value is required. j_id__ctru2:j_id__ctru6: Validation Error: Value is required.
    I've tried making this more descriptive, but editing the error message in the Validation Rules section of the Business Component has no effect. What's the best way to convey a meaningful validation message to the user when not using ADF Faces?
    Also - I'm still very new to JDeveloper. Since I won't be able to rely on my users having Internet Explorer 7, would you recommend I stay with JDeveloper 10? The examples and documentation I've seen so far for JDeveloper 11 appear heavily biased towards using ADF Faces so I'm starting to wonder how much support is there for using plain old JSF.
    Thanks for your time!

    Hi,
    if you are completely new to this then I suggest to use JDeveloper 10.1.3 and ADF Faces in there. Its good to use with IE6 as well. Currently we do have more tutorials available for this release than for 11, which for this reason is a better choice for someone new to this
