Why not open old audio drive

Hello everyone!
I'm new here so i think i should introduce myself. My name is Marcin. I'm 22 years old man from Poland. I'm computer scientist working with multimedia, graphic cards hardware, server administration & website design. I'm customer of SB cards from many years (SB 2.0, SB PRO, SB 6, SB PCI64 & SB PCI 28). If someone would like to ask me anything, please do so
I've got question to the Creative Labs. Why old sound drivers (for not supported more sound cards) are not open? I think it is good idea & there are few reasons for that:
- open source community will be happy (yeas, working for open source evn that way will make good advert for Creative)
- better support of Creative sound cards in other OS than Windows (Solaris, BSDs, Linux, BeOS, Windows X64 & many more)
- experiments made by the peolpe can be profitable for future Creative products & their drivers (it's simple to see what people will modify & make such things in future drivers so people will be more happy using Creative products)
- more testing of programing conceptions by biger user base
- & many more....
For me it is very clear that creatiove just can't support all hardware & all the drivers for all products for many years, because new products need more work .. But with open drivers Creative will not have to even think about that problem, because it will not exist anymore as problem.
I understand that ofcourse Creative may think it is problem, because if old sound card will work fone, noone will buy new one but it is just not true. With open source driver (without wole software, just driver) i will just know, that if i will but new, proffessional product, i will may work with it, even, if support some day from creative will fail. So i will buy new one (well, if i think i will but something that is not cheap & support will end in 3 years, iw ill not buy it). The examples are verywhere... windows 95, anyone use it on new mashine? Or graphic cards... there is stil good support for TnT2 graphic cards in drivers (there are even drivers for XP X64) but... Everyone already buy something new etc. etc.
So, can anyone from Creative answer my question?

I wished someone would have giving you an answer. The sound had stoped on my 98 Computer, and I thought maybe if I updated the driver, it might work again, but it said the driver was "End of Life Service"
I have Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 28D (8-23-98). This hapened before, last year sometimes, and I can't remember what I did to bring the sound back. I don't think I have ever updated the driver for it. But I guess it's useless now.

Make sure Java is enable in your browser's security settings.
Open Java Preferences (in Utilities folder)
Make sure Web-start applications are enabled.
Drag Java 32-bit to the top of the list.
jnlp isn't an audio file format. It's just a java web-start program (Java Network Launching Protocol).

I loved ny iPad at first now im starting to hate it, because flashplayer doen't work there are so many pages i cant open and tings i cant see.why are Apple so difficult? Why not open for flashplayer??!!!!

IT's up to them to redo their pages to be more compliant with the rest of the internet. Flash, as a program, is like a VCR. Still usable, still functional, but its days are numbered....may be numbered in the thousands, but its a program that people literally block and disallow from their computers. As far as some are concerned, it's legal malware.
I personally love the fact that I can avoid all those '2 meg take over your browser and screen' ads with my iPad. It is frustrating to find polls and the such that don't function, but that's when I just pull out hte laptop and use that. And on any given day I run my laptop with flash deliberately turned off and blocked...and its's amazing how fast the internet is without all the massive ads.
There are some browsers in the app store that work with some flash sites (there's none that are universally compatible....part of the problem with Flash as a program, it doesn't even work consistently from comptuer to computer)
Skyfire and Photon are two names I've seen recommended. You can give them a try and see if they work for you.

I think that injustice relates to rights that are not honored or respected, and I think we can agree that in no circumstance, human, civil, political or legal, is having or owning an Apple ID, or any other consumer item, a right.
Why should this happen? ...Iraq ... Afghanistan....
I believe that Apple, and most American companies, would love to have access to every market in the world, and Iran certainly (or at least, potentially) represents a larger market for Apple products than many countries in which they do business. So, given the choice, they'd be there.

Why not open in Singapore

I was wondering why Apple would not open a music store in Singapore. I am sick of buying cds when all I do is just ripping them to my computer and the cd is useless. It's taking lots of space too.
I sure many people would want an Apple music store in Singapore, but WHY!!!!!!!!

Yeh, well don't get too excited if and when Singapore does get access because I am in Australia and we've FINALLy got the Music Store, but not all of the latest stuff by the latest artists is on there...STILL end up having to go out and buy singles and albums anyway...and as for the selection of music videos we have - who wants the spice girls and 20 year old madonna clips? why not sell more current artists, say ROBBIE WILLIAMS videos for example??? You can get all his music but not one of his videos...
So Music Store is really notas great as it's made out to be.

Elements 12 will not open unless video driver is updated

I try to open Permier Elements 12 and I get an error message saying my video driver is incompatible and must be updated. I have checked the video card and the driver and Windows 7 says it is up to date.,

This is not Adobe. Rather user to user. Adobe might be able to resolve issues quicker typically because they can opt to take remote control of your computer to troubleshoot your issue for you. We cannot off that remote control over computer troubleshooting.
When you get that display error, the resolution is targets
a. Update the driver to the current driver version for the card
and, if necessary,
b. Delete the BadDrivers.txt file. If you have Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active and you do not see the file, then other program failure may be interferring with its generation. The rationale for the BadDrivers.txt file deletion can be found in post 10 of this older thread. This deletion has been a life saver to those using 9 as well as later versions getting the same message that you are getting.

I have pre-set the link to the web page which "should" have the Chat Panel. I am not sure if the link will hold the set.

please do so. Otherwise we could explore other troubleshooting avenues. Did you ever bother to disable the Intel HD Graphics
to determine the impact of that on the issue? Did you ever say what computer operating system your Premiere Elements is to be
run on? I have spared you the usual drill questions since your display error was glaring at us. So, I would ask what troubleshooting did you do in
the 7 hours that you said you spent on the program today that was not related to the video card/graphics card?

Projects will not open from external drive

I have been creating and saving my projects to an external drive for sometime now. When I tried to open it recently, it recognizes the Lacie but it will not recognize the projects. When you look on the Lacie it's self all of the files are there but when clicked on they still will not open.
Please help I don't know what to do...

Vista/WXP Dual Boot - can not install WXP audio driver

Hi,
I have installed Vista on a P105-S9722 (it works fine) and created a second partition for an WXP installation. Everything is ok except I am unable to install Conexant audio driver (I have a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager next to Conexant High Definition Audio). Earlier I was able to install it on a single-boot WXP partition.

Added Hybrid SATA drive to ThinkCentre - does not recognize old IDE drive - Suggestions?

I added a 1TB Seagate Hybrid drive to my old ThinkCentre 808532U. I removed the jumper from the old IDE drive so it would be considered the secondary. I installed Windows 7 Professional 32 bit on the hybrid SATA. The old IDE had Windows XP. I want to use the old IDE drive as the secondary so I can access the data, pictures, etc. I do NOT want to boot XP. The system boots up fine with Windows 7. However, the system does not recognize the old IDE drive. I have gone into BIOS and changed the Parallel ATA to Secondary. The system still does not recognize the old IDE drive. I finally experimented enough that I found the solution! I tried putting all the IDE drives into Startup even though none showed any hardware assigned. I set Parallel ATA to Both. My machine would start up but not show the Logo screen or any screen for that matter. I put a Windows 7 install disk into the DVD ROM and got the Logo screen. I F1'd back into BIOS and suddenly two of the IDE entries in Startup were populated with the DVD drives. I set the order I wanted in Startup and saved the configuration. When Windows started it installed drivers for two devices. I looked into Computer and all the drives were listed!!!!!!!!!!! So now after several long nights I have my system configured properly for all the drives and all Windows 7 updates applied. I am waiting for delivery of a 256M graphics adapter and a gigabit ethernet adapter to see if I can increase performance. Time to sleep now..............

ITunes folder Folder not opening on alternate drive

Eventhou I have set advanced preference to open iTunes folder from another drive, iTunes always opens from startup drive. I have even placed iTunes folder in trash and emptied trash but a new blank folder is created at time of opening. Any suggestions?

In addition to macmenno's good tip, it's important to understand that there are two components that create a library:
1) The music files - these can be anywhere, including external drives.
2) the Library file - it's called "iTunes LIbrary" and must always be in your system drive in the location (home)/Music/iTunes. If the library file is missing from that location, iTunes will autmatically create a blank one in its place. It sounds like you are moving the LIbrary file, which is causing your problems.
From the description of your setup, I would put the entire iTunes folder back in (home)/Music (including the library file). Then open iTunes. Now make sure in the preferences, your new music location is specified (on the external drive). Now use the Advanced->Consolidate LIbrary function, and iTunes will move all your music to the external drive. Now your lirbary remains on teh internal drive, and it will link to the music files on the external drive.

Firefox will not open old tabs

My computer crashed last evening and on restarting firefox, it goes to a new page without any of the old tabs available. Going under history has all of the options regarding restoring recently closed windows greyed out.
I did confirm that under preferences it is set to open previous tabs on starting firefox.
I have had the sessionstore.js file get corrupted previously. Looking in the profile folder showed the sessionstore.js to be a 1k file. So my first instinct was to just restore that file, and fortunately, there is a sessionstore.bak file with a time late last PM, so that file should still contain my last session.
I made a copy of the sessionstore.bak file and renamed it to sessionstore.js, but firefox still opens with a fresh session. I had the windows explorer (i.e. file manager) window open and as firefox was starting, the sessionstore.js got clobbered back to a 1k file suggesting the firefox is clearing the last session on opening. I tried restoring sessionstore.js from sessionstore.bak another time and making sessionstore.js read only, but firefox still will not revert back to the previous browsing session; instead it creates a new file called sessionstore.js.tmp.
I'm at a loss as to how to get my old browsing session back. I'm still using firefox V28.0. I haven't upgraded to V29 due to not wanting to lose the ability to export tabs as reported in the reviews of the android version of V29. Operating system is Win 7 SP1.

If Firefox won't read the file when it's named sessionstore.js, it may have a structural problem. In that case, a little surgery might be needed, but it's hard to know what to suggest without more information.
Could try one of the data mining techniques in these posts to rescue the URLs from the sessionstore.js or sessionstore.bak file:

IPhoto will not open from g-drive

I have moved all my photos to my external hard drive (my g-drive) and now I am having issues opening my iPhoto library from my g-drive. I keep getting this error:
Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable
Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command keys pressed. You can also try restoring your photo library from a backup.
I'm not sure what to do to re-open iPhoto. I have restarted many times and the same issue keeps happening.

What does that mean, exactly? You've moved just the photos? Or you've moved the iPhoto Library?

CD Drive Door does not open after Super Drive Install

Yesterday, I installed a Pioneer DVR-109 8X DVD-R/RW Super Drive in my Power Mac G4 450 AGP Graphics. Everything seemed to fit back together just fine, but now I cannot open the drive door by pressing the button. I have to manually pull the door down and insert a paper clip to open the drive and insert a CD. Is there something I missed when putting the thing back together?

I had the same problem when I replaced the Apple CD/DVD drive on my G4 AGP with a drive that had write capabilities. The problem seemed to be a slight difference in the drive's front mounting dimensions. The plastic lever on the front bezel would not depress the button on the drive far enough. To fix the problem, I cut a slim section from a rubber eraser, & using masking tape, positioned the rubber spacer over the drives button. Now it works perfectly. You may have to experiment with how thick the rubber is.

TS1702 keynote 6 does not open old presentations - fix???

I just updated my keynote to 6.0.1 and one of my old presentations cannot be opened any longer
Many of the videos in the presentations that can be opened are broken (I see only the first frame)
How can I fix this? If not, how can I go back to a working version of Keynote?
