Why or how has my Firefox home page been changed to Pogo?

My Firefox homepage has somehow been changed from Firefox/ Google to Pogo/ Yahoo. I don't know how or why. How do I return to the older format?

  • How come my firefox home page on my work PC doesn't look anything like my firefox home page on my home PC

My home page on my home PC has weather, time, date and news and my home page on my work PC only has Google and search menu.

    Are the urls the same?
You can have any page you want as your home page.
    * drag the favicon at the location bar to the home page button, see
*:How to set the home page | How to | Firefox Help
    *:[https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How%20to%20set%20the%20home%20page#w_set-a-single-web-site-as-your-home-page https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How%20to%20set%20the%20home%20page]
If they are both at Google, at home you probably have more time to play with Firefox and installed some Google applications. Others may not be actually installed. You are probably logged into Google like for GMail at home.
When you bring up a Google application then you will see that application at
the top of your Google page.

  • The quick link button to my email account has disappeared from my Firefox home page. How can I get it back again ?

When I used to click onto the Internet Firefox icon to get onto my home page, the top of the screen gave me a click on-link direct to my hotmail email a/c. For some reason that has disappeared. I can still do it via the Internet Explorer icon, but the settings are different, and the system does not accept text as readily as it did when using the Firefox. Could someone please tell me how to (in words a techno phobe can understand and follow) insert this link back onto the Firefox home page. Many thanks...

Perhaps the button was on your Bookmarks Toolbar. Can you make sure that bar is displayed? You can turn toolbars on and off using any of these methods to display a toolbar list:
    * right-click a blank area of the tab bar, or the "+" button on the tab bar
    * "3-bar" menu button > Customize > Show/Hide Toolbars
    * tap the Alt key to activate the classic menu bar temporarily, then View > Toolbars
    Does that help?
Also, you can access your Hotmail account using http://hotmail.com/ and Microsoft will redirect you to the secure login page.

  • How do I get rid of Bing? It has taken over my Firefox home page.

Every time I open Firefox, Bing loads as my home page. I have deleted from my internet options, etc., and it still takes over. There are a lot of other people having the same problem and you do not seem to be answering their requests for a solution.

Try uninstalling that '''SearchToolbar/1.2''', which is probably how you got Bing as your Firefox Homepage. Then reset the Firefox homepage '''in Firefox''', not '''''Internet Options'''''.

  • How do i stop websites from hijacking my firefox home page setting? this hijacker didn't even identify itself with a logo.

at least two times my firefox preference home page has been changed. bing did it the first time, and there have been others. this time it is an unknown location. the new home page has no logo, and i'm not sure who it is. i've got avg protection software, the purchased version, for protection, but now i'm not sure if we are secure. not even sure how this hijack occurred. when i shut the system down using sleep, the system said new software updates would be installed on startup for firefox. the next time i started up, there was this new home page. is there anyway to prevent this from happening in the first place. if i install new software and the home page is changed, i can correct that, but this change was out of the blue. i think it was associated with firefox, but i'm not really sure. haven't installed new software for ages.
    can anyone help with prevention?

Please create a screenshot of your Firefox by following the guide mentioned at [[How do I create a screenshot of my problem?]].
Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the '''Browse...''' button below the ''Post your reply'' box. This will help me to visualize the problem.
Also, I am assuming you have not clicked any links saying something like 'Set this page as my homepage'? This may seem a stupid question, but you may have inadvertently done this by pressing Enter on a page.

  • How to set multiple home pages, the option is gone (replaced my hard drive and had to reinstall firefox) This version seems to only offer tabs, not pages?

My old version of Firefox had the option for me to set multiple home pages. My hard drive recently failed and had to be replaced, so I had to install the newest version of Firefox. The only option I see when I go to tools, options, general is to set the one home page. (and maybe tabs) I would like to open several of the same pages every time I open my Firefox. Does anyone know how to get this back, or which version had this feature so I can downgrade to that particular version?
Also, I was wondering if there is a way to get the bookmarks I had on the old version back. I think they are lost forever, but if anyone knows, I would be thankful. I do still have the old hard drive, but the way it failed was actually when you tried to open any browser, the hard drive would go and blue screen, this is why the old hard drive had to be replaced. Thanks. :)

So you mean you want to open new windows with the same page when you open Firefox?
[[How to set the home page#w_set-more-than-one-website-as-your-home-page|Set more than one website as your home page]] should help if you want to open multiple pages when you open Firefox.
As for recovering your bookmarks, you can try to plug that hard drive into a working computer, and then read [[Recovering important data from an old profile]] to copy your bookmarks from it. However, if it is failing you may not be able to do that.

  • How do I get rid of MyHeritage which has captured the home page?

I recently upgraded a program called MyHeritage Family Tree Builder. It has taken over the home page of Firefox and I no longer have the Google options.
How do I get rid of it?

    '''Restore Default Home Page'''
    1. On the menu bar, located on top of Firefox, select Tools | Options
    2. Confirm you are in the '''General Panel'''
    3. Click '''Restore to Default'''
    4. Finally, click '''OK'''

  • Have Firefox home page set for Google search, but each following tab opens w/Yahoo search instead. How do I remove the Yahoo and have Google home page on every tab????

As I said above: I Have Firefox browser home page set for Google search, but each following tab (but suddenly now it) opens w/Yahoo search instead. How do I remove the Yahoo search off the added tabs and have Google home page/ blank tab (like it used to be) on every tab????

The new Firefox Start Page - '''about:home''' - isn't the same homepage that was used in earlier versions of Firefox - http://www.google.com/firefox There is no "setting" for the "Search Container" on the about:home "page" - in the Options UI or in about:config .
Set that old "Mozilla Firefox Start Page" as your "homepage". <br />
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
Or open your Profile folder and delete the '''webappsstore.sqlite''' file and hope the "Search Container" on the about:home "page" returns to Google. When it '''''is''''' Google, the Google logo appears to the left of the "Search Container"; when the search engine there has been changed to something else, there is no logo to the left of the "Search Container" - AFAIK.

  • After uploading Firefox 18 the AOL Home Page has replaced my Firefox Home Page and I want to remove AOL Home Page

AOL has muscled in and replaced my Firefox home page as above with theirs without permission.
How do I permanently remove the AOL home page to the trash can?
And, if possible, give AOL a "rasberry" for their rudeness?
    Thanks <<<< Peter Barrett

With the recent upgrade of Firefox, AOL has insisted to be the homepage. It does not matter whether you change it to be something else. After you change your homepage, somehow when you have to open another tab, aol will pop saying you have changed your homepage, but will not allow you to click anything until you say yes to returning it to aol. This IS so frustrating. I can't believe Mozilla is allowing it or does not know how to counter it.

    Hi rebob,
You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]].
There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. If that works, you can try setting your homepage again to your personal preference.
If that doesn't work you should look at the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved].
Finally, your issue may be because you've been hit with some [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Is%20my%20Firefox%20problem%20a%20result%20of%20malware?s=malware&r=0&e=sph&as=s#w_how-do-i-get-rid-of-malware Malware].
    Hopefully this helps!

  • How can I make a intro page for my website, then after the intro has run make the page automatically change to my we site home screen

how can I make a intro page for my website, then after the intro has run make the page automatically change to my website's home screen

You can do this using a meta refresh but the problem is you have to add it to the html file for the page very time you publish changes.
A better way is to create a splash page and upload it to the server outside of the folder produced by iWeb. Example HERE.
The meta refresh is added to the head section of the html file...
    <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="32;url=http://www.domain.about.com/Page-Name.html">
The delay time in seconds is marked in blue and the URL to the redirect page is in red.

  • A new video now present on my Firefox home page is causing the browser to crash on two computers. How do I remove it?

Just today, the problem started on my work laptop. When Firefox first opens everything is okay, whether the video pop-up window is there or not. However, if I then open a new tab and select my Firefox home page, about 80% of the time the browser crashes, asking for information to send to Support. When I reload Firefox, the offending tab does not go back tot he home page, but to a state prior to that.
I now find that my home desktop has the same problem. I can find no settings to prevent the video from displaying on the Firefox home page. I also get the impression that the video is some promotional item from Firefox.
I will now run manual virus scans, but I'm running Webroot on both systems, and they are scanned automatically. Any ideas? Frankly, I'm wondering if it's time to find a better browser.
    Thanks,
    Brian

The default homepage has featured various animations for a long time now (world map, bouncing star, and so on). The method to disable them remains the same:
    # Type about:config into the address bar and press Enter.
    # To bypass the warning, press the big button labeled "I'll be careful, I promise!".
    # In the search box, paste browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl
    # In the search results, double-click browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl. Delete all the text so that the preference value is blank, then press the OK button. As a side-effect, only default tips will be displayed below the search box, because new ones won't be fetched from the web anymore.
    # Type about:support into the address bar and press Enter.
    # Click the Show Folder button.
    # Open the storage folder, open the persistent folder inside that.
    # Exit Firefox.
    # Back in the Windows Explorer window, delete the '''moz-safe-about+home''' folder.

  • How can I set home page for a new tab? how can i get firefox to open the home page every time i open a new tab in Windows vista home basic??

How can I set home page for a new tab? how can i get firefox to open the home page every time i open a new tab in Windows vista home basic??
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

Firefox can have multiple home pages if you wish. Each home page that will open when starting Firefox is separated by the "|" character.
    See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
To have new tabs open a specific web site, add one of the following extensions:

You could have changed the zoom settings somehow. Try going to the View menu, down to Zoom and select ''Reset''.

  • I have somehow deleted the tool bar from the Firefox home page. How do I recover it?

I have somehow deleted the toolbar from my Firefox home page. How can I retrieve it, and hopefully my bookmarks, Tools, etc.

    Hello.
Go into View > Toolbars and select the toolbars you want to be displayed. If you don't see the menu bar, simply tap ALT in your keyboard. Rightclicking anywhere in the toolbar will also present you with the menu (don't rightclick stuff that can be rightclicked for other functions, like the back menu or the tabs).
