Why OVI Suite wrongly recognize my E52 FW version?

Last night I tried to upgrade my E52 FW from 51.018 to 52.003, but failed. After downloading 150MB then Nokia Updater lost connection to my phone 4 tiimes then I gave up.
This morning I got notification from phone's SW Updater that there's FW update for E52, then it  downloaded about 1220kB and installed successfully the FW,
When I press *#0000*, device manager display my FW version's 52.003 already.
But when I connect to my PC, OVI Suite still recognize my device FW 051.018 and offer me to upgrade again.
What's happened? What FW I have now?
E50->6120C->E51->E52->Lumia 620 -> Lumia 830
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Somehow at 2nd day, my OVI could recognize the correct version, I don't know why. And 2nd thing I noticed :  after I upgraded the FW to 52.003, my GPS stop working until about 12 hours ago. It works perfectly now.
E50->6120C->E51->E52->Lumia 620 -> Lumia 830

    Hi.
I install Nokia Ovi Suite. It works excrelent. But software update dont see updates. On nokia site wrote that latest version is 08.63, but on my phone is 7.20, and ovi suite tell that is no mew version of softvare for my phone. How to update software.

Availability of update depends on Region / Product Code.. Also if the phone is Network locked, then the update will be possible only after an approval from the Operator...Hence the update may not be available for your phone yet...
...You may also try thru' Nokia Software Updater...sometimes if one (OVI Suite) doesn't show... the other (NSU) shows.. and vice versa...

  • Ovi Suite will not recognize N97

I got a N97 last weekend and keep getting the message that  Ovi Suite cannot recognize my device. I have spent many hours on the phone with Nokia but uninstalling and reinstalling Ovi Suite is not solving the problem. The USB cable works. I have used it to just copy files from my PC to my N97. I have tried with the security/virus programs on my PC turned off. I have used the Nokia PC Suite cleaner. My OS is XP service pack 3. I am getting really frustrated and am ready to just return the phone and look for a different manufacturer. I read a lot of good reviews about Nokia and heard good comments from people but this is too much. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would really appreciate some help.

This is more likely to be a computer problem/software problem than a problem with your phone. I run W7 and have no problem connecting my N97 to the pc using either mass storage mode or pc suite mode.
You know you have to set your phone in PC suite mode to connect to ovi suite/pc suite? Having both Ovi suite and pc suite on the same computer could be the problem. You should stick with one of them.
Try also to set your phone to automaticly connect in pc suite mode: Menu->settings-> connectivity->usb->Usb connection mode: PC suite.
    Then: ASk on connection-> NO.
Try also different usb ports on the computer. You could also open devicemanager on your pc and scan for new devices whilst the phone is connected to it.

  • Ovi Suite + 5230 USB not working

    Preamble:
I recently connected my Nokia 5230 mobile phone to my PC via USB connection and loaded up Ovi Suite (2.2.1.23). Everything worked lovely. But alas! Both an Ovi suite update was available, as well as a update for the phone itself! So I downloaded the latest version of Ovi Suite (3.0.0.284).
Unfortunately, now Ovi Suite does not detect when I select "PC Suite" USB mode (selected on the phone screen). This essentially makes Ovi Suite useless.
So I followed some advice on other discussion pages (more on that later) and reinstalled the Ovi Suite. The problem persisted.
Here are some pictures to help you understand my problem:
    http://i.imgur.com/5IknF.jpg
The computer is able detect the phone is connected via USB. I can even browse the contents of the phone memory and memory card. Upon detecting the connected phone, and me pressing 'PC Suite' on the phone screen, it will show this:
    http://i.imgur.com/lV0rs.jpg
I cannot progress past this screen. The Ovi Suite simply does not recognise that I've selected that option on the phone.
    Defense:
I know what your thinking. "Just another USB thread". Well, I did in fact read plenty of threads on this forum before posting, and have spent the last few hours uninstalling and reinstalling Ovi Suite and drivers in various ways (as suggested in those threads), with no success.
The following is a list of forum threads which I have read and tried all the solutions found in each, and I have copied the solutions (which appear to have worked for other people), for your convenience:

Solutions which did not work for me:
Could you please follow these steps and check?
    1. Disconnect your phone from PC if connected.
2 .Open Control Panel and go to ‘Programs and Features’
    3. From the list of available programs, choose ‘Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver’
    4. Click on the ‘Change’ button on top toolbar.
    5. In the setup dialog box that pops up next, choose ‘Repair’ and select ok. Wait for setup to complete.
    6. Restart the computer if prompted.
    7. Now connect your phone to the PC. Driver installation should complete and PC suite (hopefully) should detect your mobile properly now.
    1. Uninstall all nokia related applications like Ovisuite, pc suite, connectivity cable driver,pc connectivity solutions, nokia software updater etc. from ur PC.
    2. Restart your PC
    3. Now download and install the recent ovisuite from http://www.ovi.com/suite
    4. After installation, disconnect/disable your internet connection (this will make sure that the PC use the drivers which comes with ovisuite and  prevent the PC from downloading any new drivers from internet) and then connect your mobile and wait for drivers and support software installation.
    5. After drivers installation you can connect your mobile to ovisuite from ovisuite screen.

    Hi GannonC,
Uninstall the following Programs, if any, from Control Panel -> Programs and Features or Add or Remove Programs.
    Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
    Nokia Ovi Suite
    PC Connectivity Solution
Later download and install the latest OVi Suite from the following location.
    http://www.ovi.com/suite
After OVi Suite installation, restart your PC, disconnect your internet from PC and connect your mobile to the PC. This is to prevent the PC searching for a new drivers from internet. OVi suite has all the required drivers for all the nokia phones available in market.
Once all the required drivers are installed automatically, you try connecting the mobile by selecting 'Connect your device' from the bottom left on the OVi suite screen. You should be able to connect your device now.
After connecting you can go ahead and update your maps/ download new country maps.
NOTE: before updating your maps/ download new country maps, you should have used your maps in you mobile atleast once.
Hope this will resolve your issue.
You can connect back your internet anytime after the drivers installation.

After re-starting the computer, I also followed this portion of a suggestion from another post (don't know if it made a difference or not):
"connected the device, waited till all the drivers were loaded.
    Then launched Ovi suite"
     (From /t5/Nokia-Ovi-Suite/E52-Sync-Error-8393f010-838c03ee/m-p/740481)
Ovi Suite then recognized my device and the sync appears to have gone smoothly.  I hope it works for you too!  It's ridiculous that it causes so many problems though--I've wasted many hours on something that should have installed correctly the first time.

    Zship's revelations:
So this is not really a problem for me. I have the working, older (2.2.1.23) version of Ovi Suite installed on my netbook, and sure enough, it works fine, I just tried it. I wont be updating Ovi Suite on it though. I also could probably just download the update via 3.5G using just the phone itself, but the problem remains that a simple software update has caused a critical connectivity problem between your software and hardware. Given that many Nokia customers would have less technical know-how than say, myself or anyone else on this forum, this problem is a quite likely a huge inconvenience to them, they probably wouldn't visit these discussions and spend 5 hours reinstalling software like I just did, and they surely would be thinking twice before purchasing another Nokia device in the future.
tl;dr - Nokia recommended update breaks connectivity between software and device, various attempts to fix seemingly simple problem don't work.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

SAME PROBLEM. And none of the many suggested solutions has worked for me yet. I want to thank all on this thread (and many others) for their help. I've learned a lot but I haven't gotten to the bottom of it. I think maybe Nokia needs to ... uh ... bloody well BOTHER TO FIX THIS ISSUE themselves, maybe. Like, cuz they're PAID FOR IT and I'M NOT. Harrumph.
I run Windows XP, and was on Media Player 11, but have rolled back to 9 and 10. I have a Nokia E 72. I have all the latest Nokia cable-drivers, PC Suite, OVI Suite, Connectivity software, etc.. The symptoms are as follows: when I plug in the phone by USB cable, the laptop won't recognize it. It says "USB device faulty" or "failed to load properly" and refuses to get the hardware into its brain. The Device Manager shows only a "Unknown Device" which I cannot install drivers onto. Taking the extra media-card out of the phone doesn't make any difference -- nothing I've done will make the computer recognize the main (built-in) card in the phone. I can't browse to it via any sort of populate / repopulate disk drive, or any other method of connecting it.
As I understand it, this is some conflict with the phone and the new concept of MTP. Media Transfer Protocol confuses the computer, causing it to kind-of think that the phone is kind-of a media player, when in fact it's a whole lot more. So, the "parent" doesn't get loaded, then the rest of the phone doesn't get loaded, then it kind-of tries to load some MTP but fails, etc.. If I could browse to the phone through a non-Nokia connection I'd be happy to do so in order to implement any of a number of the suggestions above. But I can't get the computer to recognize the phone when the phone is plugged in by USB, regardless of all the solutions above.
The problem began a few days ago. It just up and wouldn't recognize the phone. I hadn't installed any updates that I knew of on either item, but it's possible that my memory is faulty and a newer version of this or that snuck in there and screwed it all up. I have tried a serious roll-back to a Restore Point about six weeks old, but that didn't solve the problem. This suggests to me that the problem is phone-resident, since the rollback was to a computer-based Restore Point and I don't have phone rollback capability.
This seriously hampers me. PC Suite, OVI, and some future version of Nokia Suite, will all be useless to me unless Nokia accomplishes the stunning act of supporting their software. I won't hold my breath. Just in general, you'd think that plug-and-play of a phone into your computer would be a lot simpler. Just take the cord -- stick it in the phone; stick it in the computer -- and shazam, you're plugged in. But NOOOOOO we're on NOOOOOOKIA ... Now I know why Microsoft wanted to buy them so badly. They knew they'd all get along and have the same assumptions about software -- that it doesn't really matter whether it works reliably on a user's computer at his home, as long as it works in theory on some programmer's ideal personal computer in Seattle once in a rare while. Nokia? Meet Microsoft. Microsoft? You and Nokia will get along juuuust fiiiine ...

  • Ovi Suite does not recognise special MP3 files

My Ovi Suite does not import some of my MP3 files, even though they have proper ID3 tags (there are even albums where some files are recognised and others not, although I can see no difference in the "quality" of the tags). If I directly choose one of those to add, the program always states "0 files added".
I would like to get ALL of my MP3s (approx 2GB) into Ovi suite, not just 80%. Can anyone give me a hint why Ovi suite dislikes some of my files?
    Thanks!
    Fabian

    Hi,
Thank you for your post on Nokia Ovi Suite

  • Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23 works here but not there

I have Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23 installed on my work laptop and my home computer.  I also have Nokia PC Suite 7.1.51.0 installed both places.  PC Suite works fine on both machines.  Ovi Suite works fine at home.  It fails on my work computer.
Both machines run Windows XP SP3.  I have Outlook 2003 on both machines.  I'm behind a proxy at work.  With Ovi Suite at work, I can sync my text messages OK, but not my contacts, notes, or calendar.  I can get Ovi Suite to recognize which Outlook information to sync, but the sync just runs and runs and runs ...
For example, I have 27 short notes I was trying to sync at work.  Ovi Suite ran 15 minutes without completing the sync.  I clicked cancel and it ran another 15 minutes without cancelling.  I had to manually shut down the program.  The previous version of Ovi Suite seemed to function OK on my work laptop.
    Any ideas?
What I haven't tried yet, is to take my laptop home and try to sync without being connected to my corporate network.
If I had only researched a little more regarding the Nokia X6 phone (actually, the stupid software), I never would have purchased that phone.  It is DEFINITELY the last Nokia product I ever buy.

    Hi bwwhite2000,
    Please try :
Select Ovi Suite via Tools -> Options -> My device -> Remove this device.
Once you add the device back to Ovi Suite, Select tools -> Add device, reconfigure the Sync -> Option - device sync settings and sync again.
    If it does not help:

  • OVi Suite 2.0.2.42 Syncing Music Problem N97

    Hi,
I have tried to sync the music from my system to my N97 handset using OVi Suite (OVi is runnning on Windows 7) and the sync process was successful but I'm facing problem in finding the song files now in Nokia N97.
I have choosen the  Mass memory for the sync path, but I'm unable to provide a path say (E:/my_music). It takes default path of E:/Music. Is there any way to change this path from Music to some other path.
Under music folder, the song files are copied further under an artist folder. Why OVi suite while syncing categorizes the music files on artist basis. I don't have that artist folder in my hard drive. Why its not maintaning the same folder structure as its on my hard drive. Is there any way to achieve this.
    Thanks,
    nazz

I still like PC Suite as it treats the file as data files and maintains the folder structur unlike Ovi. Only problem which I have seen with PC suite is that it does not allow you to create multiple watch points.

  • OVI Suite messaging - can't send to a group?

This feature was available in PC Suite. Why was it removed, together with the excellent messaging in PC Suite 7?

Pl. provide your Device details. Also whether you want to send SMS to Group directly thru' the phone or thru' OVI suite..?
Check if your phone has this...
Open Messaging-->New Message when you are in the TO field..goto Options-->Add Recipient..now there should be 2 tabs at the top of the Contacts list that opens.. Select the one for the Group and you will see the Groups that you might have created...
Note that this depends on what phone you have...
If thru' OVI Suite then confirm that the latest version is installed on PC.. Connect the phone to PC and open Messaging in OVI Suite.. Type your message in the 3rd window (..extreme Right) and click on Add Recipient.. at the bottom of the list you will see the Groups listed..

  • Need help - Ovi Suite keep downloading at the bac...

I noticed when  the options -> General -> Automatically download software update is clicked, I can see from the download statistics report shown data being download.  when I checked on my telco broadband data usage report that I've downloaded 3GB of data in one day!  I use  TCPIP view utility to view Nokiaovisuite.exe keep receiving data at the background.
When I deselect the automatically download the receiving data stops.  I've no clue why Ovi suite behave like this and it seems never stop.
    regards,

Whenever there is new version of Ovi Suite, it will download that for you. But that you should be only within 100 MB... It should defnitely not be from ovi suite, but has to be some other software. Atleast i dont have that much download from Ovi suite..
Maybe you can look for antivirus softwares, which dowload updates in the background.

  • Cant Log in to OVI suite 3.1.1.90

Ok, I loathed OVI from the start, but because I wanted E7's for my company, I had to relent a little.
Recieved two of the three E7's and through the OVI suite, managed to update the firmware of the devices to Anna. No Problems whatsoever (I thought I must be being a little hard on OVI).
However, it seems my initial loathing was justified:
I have just received the third device and tried to carry out the same, but I can't sign in to Ovi. Something about "Ovi suite could not connect to the Nokia account server"?...
I have checked password and username and these ok. I even tried re-setting the password, but still I have the same message.
Have full internet access and send and receive emails ok, so problem not this end. Maybe it's to do with the Nokia site updates?
Anyway, this needs addressing, as this is probably the cause of update problems logged elsewhere, and under other topics, in this forum.

However, this is NOT a solution to the problem, merely a workaround, which is really unacceptable. I want to know why Ovi Suite suddenly decided that it didn't want to connect to the nokia account server anymore, particularly because it will log on on another PC!
    How long is "soon"?
I was told that the E7's would be here "soon" back in October 2010; I finally got mine in September 2011!

  • E5: Ovi Suite has lost connection with your device...

I am trying to update the software on my E5 using OVI suite but I keep getting an error during the install phase (after backup). The following error and instructions are displayed in the OVI suite window but makes no difference when I follow these instructions (just end up back with the same error).
"Nokia Ovi Suite has lost connection with your device. Follow these steps to help reconnect your device:
    1. Remove USB cable from your device.
    2. Restart the device (turn off and on again).
    3. Re-insert the USB cable.
    4. Click 'Ok' below to continue updating."
Current E5 software version is 042.007.
I am trying to update to E5 software v. 043.115
    Any ideas?

Yep having the same issue. Just got a replacement handset due to the random restarting issue, soon after setting up the new handset I get a message on phone saying software update is available. Both OVI suite and Nokia software updater say version 43.115 is available (about 200mb in size), I currently have the same version as you 42.007. It claims to do a lot of improvements to the handset. The update downloads fine but when it comes to installing I keep getting the same issue. Phone simply will not restart automatically and the update restarts then fails at the same point over and over. Had the same problem with my previous handset.
I spoke with my network provider to see if it was an issue with the handset needing firmware specific to them but they said no it is an issue with the firmware itself and has been happening to everyone since its release!!! They said I should not download it until Nokia has resolved the issues with it. But how do I know when that will happen as I cannot find anything put out by Nokia stating there is an issue or anywhere on web forums saying there is actually a problem.

  • Ovi Suite 3.0.0.290 - Music library problems...

    Hello,
Just bought a Nokia E5, looks to be a sweet phone so far...
Only, Ovi Suite is just annoying. Very slow on communicating with the phone (USB connection) and some big problems.
Impossible to delete music from the library ! How is that ?? And also the library takes ages to add a new folder.
Also, not seeing the playlist i've made on the phone ? Either on mass storage connection, in the playlist folder of the phone, nothing... But should be on a other threat.
Hope you can solve the library problem because it's quite annoying.
Thanks in advance for any answers.

    @satari
    Yeah, alright already!
We get that without you plastering this message over EVERY single thread dealing with issues of that truly useless and pathetic piece of  software called Ovi-Suite.
Especially since the new version DOES NOT SOLVE ANY OF THE ISSUES AT HAND IN THE THREADS YOU MASS PASTED INTO!
Ovi-Suite 3.x still no longer syncs music, which IMHO is a basic function. Who on earth wants to be forced to manually update the phone playlists and songs whenever songs are added on the PC? That is beyond backwards.
    Hello? It's 2011, not 1991.
Ovi Suite 3.x still randomly refuses to add songs to the library on the PC (e.g. it skips several songs from an album folder, yet they play fine when added to the phone manually outside Ovi-Suite), an issue that can only be corrected by deleting the entire library on the PC and recreating it. A "repair library" function is notoriously absent.
I'd like a so called Smartphone to make tasks easier and more comfortable instead of harder.
Newer Nokia handsets may be slightly less bad, but the N97 with Ovi-Suite is still the smartphone/desktop combo from hell.
The fruit phone/ITunes combo is sadly restricted by the greed and desire to control everything of Apple, but at least the products work reliably and consistently for the most part. The same is true for 'Droid devices.
Ever seen a black lemon? They turn black when they rot. My N97 is black. 'nuff said
