Why parameters stopped to working - Case SSRS on native mode migrated to SQL Server 2014

We had SQL Server 2008 Reporting Service on Native mode. We had hyperlink including date parameters in Intranet. When you click the link, you get report opened with correct date filtering.
We have created new SQL Server 2012 Reporting Server environment. We have migrated reports there. However when clicking hyperlink, we don't get report filtered by days.
Why paratemeters are not working anymore? Is there something to configure?

Hi Kenny_I,
Have you migrated all reports from SSRS 2008 to SSRS 2012, including the drill-through report? As per my understanding, I think this issue can be caused drill-through report couldn’t be accessed in the new environment or the report had been changed. Please
make sure the drill-through report works well in the new environment. We can directly render the drill-through report with the Parameter values @EventInfo=maindata, @DayLimit1=10.6.2014 12:12:45 and @DayLimit2=10.6.2014 12:31:10 to check the report.
If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.
Thanks,

  • Cannot get db mail to work via SMTP Relay for Office 365 in SQL Server 2014 on Windows Server 2012 R2

Our company recently moved to Office 365 which mean our on premise exchange server went away as well with the move.  I am trying to configure my new sql server (OS-Windows Server 2012 R2, DBMS- SQL 2014 Std Edtion).  After some searching I found
this article (http://blogs.technet.com/b/meamcs/archive/2013/02/25/how-to-configure-sql-database-mail-so-send-emails-using-office-365-exchange-online-a-walkthrough.aspx) and have followed these steps exactly, but to no avail.  I did some further research
on the SMTP relay I setup and found a way to test it (listed here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn592151(v=exchg.150).aspx at the bottom of the article).  If I drop the email.txt file in the pickup folder, it gets sent out no problem.
I have configured my db email exactly as describe here(http://blogs.technet.com/b/meamcs/archive/2013/02/25/how-to-configure-sql-database-mail-so-send-emails-using-office-365-exchange-online-a-walkthrough.aspx).  But keep getting an unable to connect
to SMTP server error.  I have even tried completely shutting down firewall to see if that is the issue and multiple restarts.  Any ideas how to get this to work on Office 365?

    Hi,
I followed this blog and got the below error message in the Database Mail Log.
“The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 2 (2014-06-11T19:34:00). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.7.1 Unable to relay
    for [email protected]).”
If you are getting the same error message, you can try the below steps to resolve the issue.
    1. Open the IIS 6.0 management console. Right click on the SMTP server and open the properties window.
    2. Click on the Access tab, click Relay button under Relay restrictions. loopback IP address (i.e 127.0.0.1).
Then the email should be sent out from Database Mail without problem.
    Thanks.

  • I don't know why win7 stop itunes working.

Hello. I don't know why Windonws stops itune working when importing music.
I considered what cause to do that, but I can't find out. Icould put music into ipod classic the day before yesterday. Now I can't.
Pl give me right direction if anybody know this situation.
    thanks
    freakmeout

There's a bug with 10.1.0.54 that is causing "iTunes has stopped working messages" (citing CoreAudioToolbox.dll in the Problem Reports for the error) for some folks when importing CDs with the AAC encoding, adding/converting files to AAC, and in some cases syncing devices (when the convert to 128 kbps AAC option is enabled).
Short of rolling back your iTunes to 10.0.1.22 and your Apple Application Support to 1.3.2 (CoreAudioToolbox.dll is kept in the Apple Application Support program files), there's a few possible workarounds.
    (1) Change your importing prefs to use a different encoding (won't help with the device syncing variation though), and/or disable the convert to 128 kbps AAC when syncing option.
    (2) Replace your CoreAudioToolbox.dll version 7.9.4.0 with a 7.9.3.0 as per:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12576816#12576816
    (3) Or, replace your CoreAudioToolbox.dll version 7.9.4.0 with a shadow copy of a 7.9.3.0 as per:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12583499&#12583499
(2 and 3 do help with the syncing variation.)

  • SQL Server 2014 SSRS Login Prompt won't go away

    Hi,
I'm attempting to set up SQL Server Reporting Services on one of my environments.  The architecture is:
Database Server: SQL Server 2014 hosting my databases as well as the ReportServer / ReportServerTempDB databases
SSRS Server: SQL Server 2014 with just SSRS installed, hosting the web front end
I created a new SSRS database using the SSRS configuration manager.
When I log into the website on the local machine (http : // localhost/reports),
I'm prompted for my credentials once and once I authenticate (domain\username), everything works as expected.  However, when I attempt to access the server remotely (either http or https : // reportserver.domain.com/reports)
I'm prompted for my credentials at least 12 times.  If I keep re-entering them, the SQL Server Reporting Services Home folder/website will eventually re-appear, but if I try to navigate, I'm once again prompted for my credentials.
I did some research and verified that my AuthenticationTypes in the rsreportserver.config file was set to only RSWindowsNTLM.
Additional environment info: both servers are hosted on AWS, and we are using an ELB to access the SSRS webserver.  I'm using IE11 to attempt web access.
    Thanks!

    Hi Rob,
I am not sure why you are using the -A while setting up the SPN, Use  -S to set the SPN and make sure you delete the old one(setspn -D HTTP/<server> domain\user )
Use the following command line to set the SPN
    SETSPN –S HTTP/hostname.abc.com:<portnumber> DOMAIN\ServiceAccount
Note: The config file for reporting services also needs to be updated to allow Windows
    authentication. Do the following:
    1. Locate the installation directory of the reporting server instance.
    2. Open the ‘rsreportserver.config’ with a text editor such as Notepad.
    3. Find the following XML parameters
    <Authentication>
    <AuthenticationTypes>
    <RSWindowsNTLM/>
    </AuthenticationTypes>
    4. Change the value
    ‘RSWindowsNTLM’ to ‘RSWindowsNegotiate
    Hope This Helps
    Thanks

  • Windows update quits working giving me access error when installing SQL Server 2014...

I am at my wits end.  I've been developing on Windows for 20 years but have never run across something like this.  On Windows 7 Pro I need to install the SQL Server 2014 demo (SQLServer2014-x64-ENU) with the SQL Server 2012 community data mgmt
package demo (SSDTBI_VS2012_x86_ENU) to develop my MSBI/SSIS skills.  Somewhere along the line one of the prerequisite updates causes the Windows update process to quit working giving me and error code beginning with 8 (sorry didn't write it down, stupid)
that says I don't have permissions to update.  Have not been able to isolate it farther than that.  Have done all the fixes I've been able to find online and none of them have worked.  For whatever reason, when I install the same thing under
VMware it's runs fine.  I've had Microsoft log onto my machine and he told me I needed to buy a $99 piece of software to fix the problem.  At this point I'm more than ready to do so.

I do not understand and never seen a log that tell you what to buy or what it cost.
according to your explanation I would probably try to restore to point in time before the first installation which star the problem. If you do not have a backup then it is a great lesson for life :-)

  • Why is the PWDCOMPARE function not supported on an Azure SQL Server 2014 database

I have tried to publish a database from our local SQL Server to Azure but receive an error saying PWDCOMPARE is not supported with no link to a reason why.
We are using HASHBYTES function to encrypt passwords in our database and
PWDCOMPARE to validate them and we currently don't have an alternative (see article: http://sqlity.net/en/2460/sql-password-hash/). The PWDCOMPARE function is referenced by a stored procedure,
which is what won't publish to Azure.
It would be useful to know if it will be supported or if we should create a VM instead.
EDIT: Further Clarified question above, but basically the functions listed are documented in MSDN and there is no mention of them being undocumented unsupported features.
The error occurs when trying to publish a database to Azure from SQL Server 2014 Management Studio

    Hi,
I am not an expert to answer this but am trying my best to answer this query.
Hashes a password and compares the hash to the hash of an existing password. PWDCOMPARE can be used to search for blank SQL Server login passwords or common weak passwords.
    Syntax
    PWDCOMPARE ( 'clear_text_password'
       , password_hash
       [ , version ] )
Note: This feature will be removed in the next version of Microsoft SQL Server. Do not use this feature in new development work, and modify applications that currently use this feature as soon as possible.
I am not sure whether this feature is not available on SQL 2014.
I think you can solve this issue by using the EXECUTE AS. Add this query into a procedure with EXECUTE AS with the user/login with sufficient permissions on the server.
Refer to belw link for more details on EXECUTE AS
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms188354.aspx
    create
    procedure checkpassword

    EXECUTE AS

    as
    select
    pwdcompare(@Password,convert(nvarchar(128),password))
    from master.dbo.syslogins

    Hey DBT,
SQL Server 2014 Express supports your operating system.
You can see the link below the requirements for each version: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506.aspx
Did you try to restart the computer and then try installing again?
There are users that it helps them, it might solve the problem but preventing them expect an error and understand why it happens.
Sometimes it appears as a result of lack of .NET Framework (check the Microsoft article if you meet the requirements before installation).
If you are interested to View and Read SQL Server Setup Log Files
I've provided you a link that explains simply how to do this.

  • TSQL working in 2008 but not in SQL Server 2014

    Hello,
We recently have been asked to move from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2014. We are trying to run parallel tests and one of our queries that was working perfectly in 2008 is not working in 2014.
One of the filter on the our query(from 2008) is we convert a varchar field to date and compare it to anotehr calulated filed ("convert(date,Quick_Data_Start_Date) <= convert(date,(Year_ID_to_Use + '-' + Month_ID_to_Use + '-01'))").
This worked fine in 2008 but when i try to do similar operation in 2014 it returns no result.
For testing purposes, instead of converting the field to date format, i manully converted the actual value i.e. instead of using "convert(date,Quick_Data_Start_Date)" when i use "convert(date,'8/1/2014')" the code works fine.
The field "Quick_Data_Start_Date" comes from a pivot query.
When i create a temporary table for the pivot query and use the temporary table in  my code and then convert the field on fly the code works fine again.
Seems like the T sql is not able to convert the field from varchar to date on the fly when coming from a different query. We have tried changing the compatbility level to 100 as well and it still would not work.
Any suggestions and comments will be really helpful. Thanks.
    Regards,
    GM

Hello, here is my overall review:
The query is not optimized … agreed!  But that’s not the issue.
There are a number of indexes that could be created, a number of minor calculations or evaluation criteria that could be improved to make the query more efficient … again – AGREED.
The query “as is” runs in just under a minute (on SQL 2008 machine with less memory and slower hard drives).  Adding the indexes would take more time to add than they would save.
NONE of that should make the query NOT WORK.  These deficiencies might make it run more slowly, but should not cause the query to return no results.
“order by” shouldn’t make any difference because the query plan isn’t assuming or using any special order
The main table (~10 M rows) is using a clustered index scan (not efficient, but not the point)
The Time dimension table is using a non-clustered index seek (so the index is sorted but the data in the table is NOT physically sorted that way)
The pivot subquery is using clustered index scan (it’s only 6 rows, so who cares)
Once again, the order by might make it less efficient, but shouldn’t make it fail.  We get no errors or warnings – it just returns no rows.
Because the query DOES return results when we
Either dump the Pivot query result into a #temp table(single row) and use the #temp table instead of the pivot query in the big SQL or
The “input” tables are limited to X rows but DOES NOT when the inputs have more rows
This strongly suggests a memory issue.
The server has 64 GB of RAM, but this probably isn’t enough to hold millions of rows and calculations.
Can we turn on some traces to see what’s happening to the data in the query?  How and what are we looking for?
Once the memory capacity is exceeded, SQL should be pushing these results to a temporary table (either in the local database or the tempdb).  Can we test to see if that is happening?
    How?
    Is there a permissions issue?
I have successfully done large copies outside of SQL (copied 300+ GB file from one location to another) that had to use the disk instead of just memory … means the disk write operation
isn’t restricted from my user account.
I can also confirm that the account that runs the SQL Service (“Network Service” account) has full permissions to the drives and paths where the mdf and ldf files are stored (including
    master and temp).
If this doesn’t work, our upgrade is basically frozen and cannot proceed.  I’m really out of ideas … anything?

  • Configuring Kerberos authentication for SSRS in native mode - SSRS 2008 R2-2012

    Hi,
I've a SSRS native mode installation on a server and a SSAS installation on another server.
In order to configure the Kerberos authentication for SSRS native mode, I need to register one SPN for the report server service, one SPN for SSAS service and to configure SSRS to use the negotiate authentication type, isn't it?
    Thanks

    Hi pscorca,
If we have applications that only use Kerberos authentication and we are using RSWindowsNegotiate AuthenticationType, we must create a Service Principal Name (SPN) for the Report Server service if we configure it to run as a domain user account.
Before setting up constrained delegation, we must register a
Service Principle Name (SPN) for the Analysis Services instance. We will need the Analysis Services SPN when configuring Kerberos constrained delegation for middle tier services.
There is a document about Enabling Kerberos Authentication for Reporting Services, you can refer to it.

  • PSE11 Why does Sharpening not work in Quick or Guided Mode?

I have used PSE 5 happily and greatly liked the auto sharpen feature. I have been forced to upgrade to PSE 11 due to Windows 8 incompatibility with 5.
I am appalled to find that the sharpen feature, including auto, does not work in Quick or Guided modes. The small previews in Quick mode show the correct sharpening effect but clicking on them or using the slider does not transfer to the main image. I either have to go into full unsharp mask, which I hate for quick fixes, or use the 'adjust sharpness' option under 'filter' in Quick or Guided Mode, which increases sharpness by an unspecified amount on each click.
Surely there si something wrong here. The feature is there so why doesn't it work?
Any ideas would be welcome. If it isn't fixable I shall want a refund based on the product not being fit for purpose.
    Thanks

Thanks for confirming that it should work ok. I've now done the obvious and uninstalled/reinstalled and it's fine now.

  • SSRS 2013 Native Mode - Cannot See Report Builder Button after Installing on my Desktop Computer - SQL Server Express

I have installed SQL Server Express 2013 on my home PC, which runs Windows 7.  I used the advanced installation, which includes Reporting Services.  The install seemed to go okay but when I open SSRS, I cannot see the Report Builder button on the
