Why .pdf file, created by Acrobat Distiller 10.1.2. (Windows) failed to convert to MS Word

I tried to convert .pdf file  to MS Word, but it failed.
I noticed in  a previous discussion on that topic that this converter ccnnot work with
.pdf files cteated by certain producers
My was created by Acrobat Distiller 10.1.2. (Windows)
Is that a rogue producer too?
Thanks
Alexey Kovalev

At this point, try Acrobat XI Pro to see if you can convert the document there.  A 30-day trial of Acrobat XI Pro is available here:

If the file fails to convert with Acrobat, it may be corrupted. How did you get this PDF?

  • PDF files created in Acrobat Pro X for Mac will not print correctly on Windows - text is missing

I recently created a PDF file with pictures and texts in Acrobat Pro X. However, when I send it to my coworkers (who work on Windows computers), the printed file contains only images, and no text. I am using Century Gothic - a font that is installed on these Windows computers. When they open the files, they can see the text and everything exactly as it is meant to be. However, upon printing, the text disappears completely.
We are using a Konica Minolta Bizhub printer to complete these printouts. When I print from my computer (the Mac), the files print perfectly on this printer. However, when using the same printer, a Windows user cannot print the text in the PDF's.
Has anyone else run across this problem? I am thinking of trying to embed fonts, however it doesn't seem like it would make much of a difference (since the fonts show up fine on a Windows computer anyways). Is there a known issue with printing PDF's on a Konica Minolta printer?

The archive format you used embeds all fonts, as does Press and Print type job settings. The standard job settings does not embed all fonts and that might be where the problem was.

  • Cannot Open a PDF File Created in Acrobat 9.0

My associates cannot open a PDF that I have created from Word 2007 using Acrobat 9.0 if I save the PDF to our network. They can open the PDF if I email the file to them as an attachment. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

It may depend on how you transfer the PDF to the network. Saving to a network seems to have mixed results with Acrobat and always has. Try saving locally and copying to the network drive. If you are transferring the file with FTP, be sure that you use binary file transfer.

  • Will Adobe Reader 11 read older PDF files created in Adobe Acrobat 8?

    Hello,
I have finally updated my computer & husband computer at home to Adobe Reader 11, but now I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to.
I scanned some old family pictures using Adobe Acrobat 8 onto CD's, and I used Adobe Reader 8.3.0 to view them.  Now I would ike to know, if the newer Adobe Reader 11 will still read the older pdf files created in acrobat 8?
If this won't work, then how do I convert the pdf files to jpeg?  I have Microsoft XP Professional onboard our computers.
My husband does have a Adobe Photoshop onboard his computer.
    Please advise.
    Thank you,
    Maureen

Adobe Reader XI should be able to view old files as well.

  • Xref table is missing when a pdf file is created with acrobat distiller 9.0.0

    Hi
I created a pdf file with the new acrobat distiller 9.0.0 and i noticed that the xref table is missing in it.
Whereas the pdf files which created in older version (acrobat distiller 7.0.5) had the xref tables.
As i have written a perl script to open the pdf files (used a ready made module downloaded form cpan.org). The script works fine with all old pdf files but fails when it tries to open the pdf files created with distiller 9.0.0.
Could i know is any thing changed on acrobat distiller 9.0.0 ?
    Thanks

  • Pdf file created in Word 2008 will not open in Acrobat 8.2.6 or any other Adobe program

I have created a 12 page newsletter in Microsoft Word Publisher 2008 and have done so many times before with no problem. Today, I have tried to save it as a .pdf file both in Save As and through the printer. Each .pdf file created in Word will not open in Acrobat 8.2.6, Photoshop C3, Adobe Reader  nor any other Adobe software.
When I go to open it in Acrobat, my Mac gives me the spinning rainbow. If I try to click on the file, I get a watch and then Acrobat crashes or I have to force quit the software. I really need to convert this file and get it to the printer. Any advice???
    Mac OS X 10.6.7
    Word 08 12.2.8
    Acrobat 8.2.6
    Adobe Reader 10.0.0

    Here is a better example.
    https://www.calcerts.com/PBR1.pdf
is the original PDF file that is uploaded by a user.  Note that it is only 48kb in size.
I take the file, add a couple of watermarks and a footer for each page as well as a small image on the last page, add security on it and BAM, the file:
    https://www.calcerts.com/PBR1_AFTER.pdf
is now 1.5 MB and it takes a LONG time to print.
    Thoughts?

  • Why can't I open PDF files created in Adobe X using Adobe XI? How do I fix this?

Why can't I open PDF files created using Adobe X in Adobe XI?

I try and open them in Reader (double left click on the file) and all I get is a single screen with two overlapping frames neither of which have anything to do with the subject although the presentation title is at the top.  One of the frames had "Adobemail.com" on it. Our work computers were recently up-graded to Adobe XI and this was the first time I tried to open a presentation that has worked fine in the past.  I would have thought that Adobe XI would have been backward  compatible, but it doesn't seem so. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have an 08:00 First-Aid class tomorrow and need this presentation.  Apparently Adobe forums are off-line for up-grades.  Thanks

  • I can't edit text on a pdf file in adobe acrobat

I need to edit the text on the pdf file but I can't and this message keeps showing up: " This form cannot be edited in Acrobat. Please use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit this form.
There are no security on this file. The only thing that is not allowed is to create templates. When I check the document properties description, on the PDF producer it says adobe distiller 7.0.5 (windows)
I downloaded the adobe livecycle designer but I couldn't edit the text there either... When I open the file it says the text is not downloaded so it replaced it with another text, I clicked ok but then the text didn't change, This message showed up:
I really need to edit the text on this pdf file because it's important. Can anyone help? Greatly appreciate it. By the way, this is a pdf fillable form that you can fill out on acrobat and that is the only thing it seems like it will let me do this file. I don't want to fill it out, I want to edit whats on it. It's one of those forms that you get from NJ courts.

Ok, what we can tell you is that if this is a LiveCycle form (and we can be pretty sure it is), that you are absolutely right. Acrobat can fill it, and nothing else. These are a very special kind of PDF, where all the text is in a special XML format that Acrobat can only show, not edit.
So, you are on the right track: if it can be edited, you need LiveCycle Designer. Unfortunately, we don't know much about it in this forum, so please try posting here: http://forums.adobe.com/community/livecycle/livecycle_modules_and_development_tools/livecy cle_designer_es
If the form is publicly available, it may help if you include the URL (web address) when you post.

  • PDF file created is 92% smaller

If I create a pdf file either using thr Print function (Save to PDF) or even withing Photoshop (Save As .... PDF). This is a pain when I'm trying to email scaled drawings. Cna this be changed to creat the PDF as 100%?

Saving a PDF using OS X's built in function will always result in a small file. You can't set the resolution/level of quality with it. In order to save full size PDF files, you will have to invest in Adobe Acrobat Standard or Professional. One you have that, even Photoshop's "Save As PDF" calls up the Acrobat Distiller so you can choose a level of quality. Otherwise, you're stuck with whatever Photoshop does without it.

  • Can't open any PDF file with Adobe Acrobat XI Pro

I have tried to open multiple Acrobat files but none will open. I get a FATAL ERROR message saying: "Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server."  I've created documents in word and publisher and am able to convert to pdf format but after the pdf file has been created I cannot open to view and I get the error message. Please help! Thank you!

No I am thinking that the problem is with Acrobat XI Pro. Because as previously noted I can create a Word document and save as a PDF, the PDF document will be created by Acrobat XI Pro but will not open with Acrobat XI Pro, which normally happens automatically upon creating the PDF file from say Word, Exel, Publisher, etc. When I try to open with Acrobat XI Pro it give me the FATAL ERROR message saying: "Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server". Since I could not open any of my PDF documents with Acrobta XI Pro, because I had Acrobat XI Pro as my default PDF creater and reader, I installed Adobe Reader, hoping that it would allow me to view the PDF documents that I had just created with Acrobat XI Pro and it did. The problem is that I cannot open Acrobat XI Pro to creat or edit or add PDF restrictions on  a PDF document straight from Acrobat XI Pro, but I can create a, say Word document, and save as a PDF file. Before installing Adobe Reader I could not open, see or edit the just created PDF file created through Word it is just now after installing Acrobat Reader.
    Also worth noting.
I have been told that this same problem happened sometime ago with Adobe Acrobat X Pro (Vesion 10) and that the problem was fixed by editing something within the registry. Does anyone know anything about that? Thanks!

  • PDF files created in Preview won't open in Adobe Reader

I consider Preview to be a swiss army knife when it comes to working with PDF and graphic files. Lately (since the last OS update?) PDF files created in Preview won't open in Adobe Reader. Reader either crashes or just becomes unresponsive. I've been able to open the files in older versions of Adobe Professional but Reader 8 or 9 can't open the files. Anyone else experiencing these problems?

Yes. We noticed this problem after upgrading to 10.6.7. When we made a PDF from Word 2011 or even Text Edit through Adobe's "Save as Adobe PDF" it would hang. When we made a PDF using Apple's "Save as PDF" it would lock up Acrobat Pro 9 and also Acrobat Pro X. NOTE that this only happened using Adobe OTF fonts.
I posted this problem on Adobe's forum and received a message from admin there that this was caused by a change in font handling with Apple's 10.6.7 update.
As of yet, no solution has been posted. I also received a message from Adobe's Tech Support that it was forwarded to their engineers.
    Still waiting.

  • Problems opening & printing pdf files created on a Mac

I am at my wit's end! I recently upgraded to a new version of Acrobat and suddenly a lot of my clients could no longer open my pdf files. I uninstalled the latest version of Acrobat and reinstalled an older version (Acrobat 8.1.3). Some clients started being able to open my pdf files but others could not. So I started using the Acrobat Share server and sending links. Some of my clients cannot open those either and many cannot print even if they can open the files that way. I personally also cannot print from the Acrobat Share server. The pdf files print out with all the surrounding graphics and application design elements. I also can't open the pdf files that I created on my Mac using my PC laptop running Vista. I have tried opening and printing both pdf files and the Acrobat Share links from my Mac and my PC laptop running Vista, to no avail.
I was under the impression that compatibility problems between Macs and PCs were largely a thing of the past. I was also under the impression that the whole point of exchanging pdf files was that pdf files are cross-platform compatible. Not only am I am losing tons of valuable time, I may be losing credibility with my clients (especially since I have an IT background). I desperately need to know what version of Acrobat I should be running on my Mac so that when I scan documents into my Mac, the pdf files that are created are completely 100% compatible with both Mac and PC operating systems regardless of what operating system and what version of Acrobat my clients are running. I also need to be sure that those same pdf files I create on my Mac can be seemlessly printed out from either a Mac or PC regardless of the operating system or Acrobat Reader version. If anyone can help me get to the bottom of this, I will be eternally grateful. Thanks.

This file downloaded and works fine for me in Preview on both OS X 10.5.7 and 10.4.11 (and opens in Acrobat Pro 9.1.1 and 8.1.5, and the latest version of Reader on both versions of the OS). As expected.
If you're printing from Acrobat.com by right clicking in the image area and selecting Print, don't. This isn't printing the PDF, it's printing the Flash frame that contains, as you've noticed, buttons and other elements. (Adobe's Mac Flash plugin is notoriously buggy.) Direct your clients to download the file by selecting the download button, not by right clicking and printing.
Again, your PDF file is fine.

  • Is there a licensing limit on PDF's created in Acrobat and imported into FormsCentral?

    Hello,
I have been looking at the forums and also chatted with someone from tech support. I have created a PDF in Acrobat Professional. I have not enabled Reader Extensions on the file. I imported it into FormsCentral and added a submit button. To test it, I filled it out and saved it successfully using Reader 9. I also submitted it successfully using the submit button. I do not yet have a paid FormsCentral account, but see that the Plus account allows 5000 submissions per form. This is not a licensing limit, but a space limit (see http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1382). I also understand there is a 500 use licensing limit on PDF's that have Reader Extensions enabled. Does that apply to an imported PDF with no Reader Extensions enabled? Please clarify.
    Thanks!

    Hello Gen,
Thank you for your reply. I have seen many discussions on these forums, as well as elsewhere on the internet regarding Adobe's licensing limit on fillable PDF forms created in Acrobat that have Reader Extensions enabled. We are only allowed to extract 500 responses from Reader Extended PDF's, according to this limit.
I wanted to confirm if this is applicable to a PDF I create in Acrobat Pro (without the Reader Extensions enabled), then imported and submitted through FormsCentral using a Plus account. You are saying that FormsCentral adds the Reader Extensions. Does that mean that the PDF is now subject to Adobe's limit of 500 on Reader Extended PDF's? Or does the fact that the PDF form is submitted through FormsCentral eliminate the limit of 500?
I just want to be sure that we can go ahead and send out a fillable PDF through FormsCentral without worrying we are exceeding the licensing limit.
    Thanks again!
