why is Photoshop Elements 11 File-Export menu item disabled?
To Dup:
bring up the tool and a photoshop project file
ensure my license is up to date
ensure this tool is updated
File Export is disabled
try may other files, get same result

I have no idea what it has ever been used for (Save As usually being the route to export to a different format), but it exists and is greyed out in PSE12 as well. I suspect a hangover from an old version.

chance to put in my serial number get that error message after I download

Sorry, not possible in PSE itself. You'd need to put your photo into the web creation software you use. If you are using an older version of PSE some versions created web albums/galleries which included an index.html page, but that's as much as PSE does. There's nothing like that in PSE 12 since Adobe wants you to use Revel for photo sharing now.

Photoshop Elements 11 file saving proterties

I am currently using Photoshop Elements 11 trail version to decide if I like it enough to upgrade.
Yesterday, while saving my files - .jpg, .png, psd - etc - when I'd go to access the file to upload, it wouldn't recognize the file.
Then when I went back into PSE 11 to open the file, it wouldn't recognize the file format, no matter what
I have went ahead & uninstalled the program, then restarted my computer, reinstalled & it's doing the same thing.
If this is a known issue, I certainly have no desire to upgrade. I use PSE 8 previously with zero problems.
Please, if anyone can answer why this is happening, I'd really appreciate it.
As for PSE 11 - I do feel, aside from this file saving issue, Adobe got so many things right - I love how PSE 11 has been changed, it's much easier to use, but this file issue, I don't have time for it when my clients are expecting turn around times from me.

Thank you for all your responses.
First let me start off with, I am not new to saving files. I've been designing & saving files for over 10+ yrs. I've never ran into this problem with any program until using PSE 11. All my files were saving perfectly fine. This problem just started yesterday with PSE 11 for me. That's why I uninstalled, restarted & reinstalled with a restart after the install.
When I go to save a file, these are my steps
1. File
2. Save as
3. Name of the file (no characters - only using letters, maybe letters & numbers in combination together)
4. I select what format I wish to save it in.
5. Click save
When I did this yesterday, my files were appearing to save, but actually, they were not saving no matter what format I was trying to save that as.
How I found out this was happeneing - I went to upload a file to the web - I was then told the file was not a proper file format. I tried various things such as saving as a png, jpeg, tiff, gif - not of which were working. That's when I uninstalled PSE 11 & as said above, reinstalled, etc.

This is WHY I feel this is a problem with the particular PSE 11 I'm using (downloaded directly from Adobe's site) It's a trial vertson. And I always try to try programs before I invest in them, no matter if they're $20 or $500
I hope all this will help thos of you trying to answer this mystrey question for me. As I mentioned, I've never had this happen before.
Today - it seems to be saving just fine..... and I haven't changed how I save files at all. If this is a known issue with PSE 11, I just wish to know so I don't waste my money on it. I love all the changes Adobe has made to PSE 11, but if it's full of bugs - I'd rather pass is all.

Can I use Photoshop Elements 8 to create printable items for commercial purposes?

I like to create printables for classroom use using my Photoshop Elements 8 that I purchased about 4 years ago. I would like to be able to sell these items on www.teacherspayteachers.com, but I am not sure if I can leagally do that. Can Elements be used for commercial use or would I need to buy a commercial version??? Thanks in advance!

Legally there's no problem, but if you need CMYK files, PSE can't do those.

Premiere Elements 4/Photoshop elements 7 - grayed out menu

I am a total newbie with no artistic skills at all. I am just trying to create a DVD using ONE clip.
I want to create a still shot from the clip to use as a menu background.
According to the Premiere Elements 4 help screen I should just have to click on the camera and then have the OPTION to edit the image in Photoshop Elements. For my setup this option is grayed out. All I can do is save the image as a .bmp (bitmap).
Can someone tell me why this is? Did I do something wrong in setup?
Is there a good book for PE ver 4?

Photoshop elements 11, files on hard drive

I shoot in Raw. On my hard driven there are two files for every picture, one I can open (the picture) the other is blank, or unsipported or may be an XMP file. Why is this. Do I need additional software in addition to photoshop Elements 11?

Also if you edit your raw image, the changes gets saved in xmp. However if you delete the xmp for that file, you lose all the changes you have done.

How can I change the File-- Open menu item?

In Bridge CS4, I want an option to open a selected JPEG photo in Photoshop CS4, which I believe would be the File-->Open command. However, in that menu item I only have the option of selecting ACDSee Pro to open a file with.
Is there a way to change this menu item so that I can select Photoshop CS4 to open a JPEG with?

Thanks John. Go into the Windows Folder options and associating CS4 with JPEG fixed the problem. In fact, when I do File-->Open now in Bridge CS4, all of my photo editors appear on the list.

How can I make Photoshop Elements import files after it gives incorrect error code?

I had 17,000 photos on my hard drive well organized in folders before installing Photoshop Elements 11 today. I was able to get it to import only 467 into the catalog. I tried browsing, searching, selecting files and no matter what I did to bring inthe remainders (including trying to bring in folders with only 60-80 in each, moving files into new folders, etc.) and still can't see them in the organizer view. It allows me to highlight the folders or highlight the photo jpg files separately, says it is getting media, but then comes back with message that "files are not in correct format or are in the catalog" but they ARE in normal format jpeg, can view in other programs, and they are NOT visible in the catalog. Very frustrating, especially after wasting hours downloading the program from Amazon Marketplace - took hours, then had errors and had to redo twice. Running WIN 7 on 6 month old Sony computer with 8 GB RAM and quad processors. Thanks for any help.

You should try posting in the PhotoShop Elements forum, especially if no one else here has a better suggestion to offer. It is possible someone else has encountered the same problem and you could search there to see. If you post there and you do have an error message, you should include the details of that error message.

I have loads of Photoshop Elements 7 .psd files and my catalogue on my old Windows based pc which I want to copy across to Photoshop Elements 13 on my new mac. How do I do this? Please tell me it's easy!

Contact Adobe please, that is a question for them. If they will migrate then you need to ask about getting your MS Windows license tranfered to OS X too. Then you can use Migration Assistant to migrate the Windows data to OS X. My guess is you are not familiar with Migration Assistant, please read Apple's advice letters on MA and also Pondini wrote excellent articles about it, you can find his articles by clicking http://pondini.org/OSX/MigrateLion.html

Why are iTunes, View, Window, and Help menu items disabled?

I am frequently encountering an issue in iTunes 10.5 (141) where all the menu items in the iTunes, View, Window, and Help menus are disabled (greyed out). Why is this happening and can it be stopped?
I've seen this issue on different Mac OS X 10.7.2 machines. It seems to occur during playlist manipulation, where I'm making new playlists, adding items to them and editing them and the items. In the worst cases, I'm forced to quit and restart iTunes, although I have to quit by using the context menu option in the Dock as the Quit option is disabled in the application.
I'd appreciate any advice on workarounds for this that don't involve quitting and restarting iTunes.

I'm also having the same issue. It was happening with 10.5.1 and now still with 10.5.2. I'm using a 2008 iMac running 10.6.8. I do not use iTunes Match. This seems to happen for no apparent reason i/o/w, I can't determine a pattern as to when it happens, but it occurs about once in every 10 times that iTunes is open and it seems to happen after it's been open for a while, but again, no particular pattern.
Sometimes, all the menu items are grayed out, and other times, 70% of the menu items are grayed out. I can still use the other functionality in iTunes, but must must Quit from the dock (it quits gracefully and no Force Quit is necessary). Relaunching restores eveything to normal for about a week.
I work with technical diagnostic issues and can usually pinpoint a problem, isolate an issue, or determine a pattern, but this one has me stumped. I thought 10.5.2 might fix it, but no. Maybe 10.5.3?

Why can't I File-export-render video into a mpeg 4 rendering into a small .mov file format in cs6?

I create short videos using the PS frame animation panel. I used to be able to FILE-export-render video- and choose MPEG-4 Video in the settings panel which would render my file into a small .mov file. Now in CS6 the new render video panel does not have that option. I tried the QT options in the export window and my file is hugh! The H.264 option gives me an .mp4. I put the .mp4 into my web page via Dreamweaver and my video does not play when uploaded into the sever. The video plays fine in Dreamweaver before I upload to the server. After I upload to the server I just get a Q and no video on my web page. If I render the same file in CS5 I am able to view it in my web page.
