Not sure I understand -
you are trying to export a video from iTunes? What is the origin of the video (did you buy it from iTunes store)?

Cannot export video clips from iPhoto to Finder folder.  Export fails with message "unable to create video for export: "
The video clips play correctly within iPhoto.
Software: iPhoto version 9.5 on OSX 10.9
    Hardware: Retina Macbook Pro 2.3 i7 8GB

Yes.  I have 3,184 video clips in this library.  I tested Reveal function by randomly selecting individual video clips and in every case the Reveal in Finder function worked correctly.  I also tested this on random selections of groups of video clips and, again, the Reveal function worked correctly in every case.
Some more info that may be relevant:
I have multiple iPhoto libraries.  My "main" library is very large (~30,000 files) and is located on an external hard drive (2TB WD) which is connected via USB.
The problem reported here is occuring on that "main" library.  I have not opened any other iPhoto library since installing the new release.
While the File>Export function does not work, I have been able to simply copy and paste video clips from iPhoto library to a folder on Mac hard drive.  It appears that meta data is copying correctly along with the video content.
I am able to import these copied video clips to iMovie.  Meta data is imported along with the video content and I'm able to perform iMovie editing functions on those clips without any problems.
In summary, the File>Export function still fails with the message "unable to create video for export."  Copying video clips and pasting them to interim folder seems to be a viable workaround enabling me to extract video clips from iPhoto for import to iMovie.  I will run additional tests to see if I can find a pattern to the video files that are being rejected by iPhoto Export function.

  • Cannot export video from iPhoto

cannot export a video taken from an iphone. from iphoto to anything, it saves it as a 0.00 second movie file.
and yes before you ask i am changing it to original file :/

The problem is that iPhoto is looking in the wrong place for the file:
    / Volumes/Sagate/Iphoto_Library_2014.photolibrary/Previews/2014....... "
It should be looking in the Originals folder.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Media Encoder Update problem - cannot export video

Hi, I just obtained a student license of Premiere Pro CS4, and I have a critical problem, I cannot export any videos.
Every time I go to export a sequence, Premiere reminds me to update the media encoder.
    http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/7047/mediaencoderjz6.png
I have done both as instructed, and successfully installed the latest update to media encoder, but Premiere still fails to export any video, or even open Media Encoder. I do not have this problem on my laptop, only on my home computer.
I'm running Windows Vista, I have not installed any previous versions of premiere, my system spec is dual core 3ghz, 4gb ram, nvidia 8600gt.

    See:
Support:kb407106 Error: "Encoding Failed. Could not read from the source"

  • Cannot export video's from iphoto '08

I want to export videos in mp4 format that were imported from my camera into iphoto '08.
The first problem is that "export..." won't work. I selected the 7 videos, then "Export...". I selected file format. However, it doesn't recognize that anything has been selected and grey's out the "Export" button.
So, I came up with an alternate plan...burn them to a cd. I selected the same 7 videos and then "burn" section from the "share" menu. It prompts me for a cd, which I inserted. Then, I see a report that these 7 video's take 90MB of space...I hit continue and the cd is burned. However, when I look at the cd later(and I have done this twice now), the cd doesn't have any of the videos, but it does contain the 172 photo's that are in the same album. Again, I did this twice. I selected the album, then typed mp4 into the search window, then selected the 7 resulting videos. And the program was telling me it had 7 photos.
I am VERY frustrated that I have found 2 bugs in this software. I used to be able to export video's all day long. Not good.
Since I am complaining now, the only reason I am doing any of this is because I want to give my friends a CD with all the photos and videos from our recent trip. They have a mac...should be piece of cake. It is not, because the video's just sit in iphoto, but I can't do anything with them. I wish slide show would seemlessly integrate photo's and video in order. My Sanyo camera does this, but my Mac doesn't. I tried sending all the photo's and video's to iDVD, and it worked, but that takes hours to do all the rendering...and at the end of the day, the quality isn't as good.....
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Phil

    Phil
There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
To upload to MySpace or any site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services.
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves. If you're willing to risk database corruption, you can restore the older functionality simply by right clicking on the iPhoto Library and choosing 'Show Package Contents'. Then simply make an alias to the folders you require and put that alias on the desktop or where ever you want it. Be aware though, that this is a hack and not supported by Apple.

  • Cannot export video: AME cannot read from source, Installation Error

Ok, I've seen a lot of people on here talk about this and I have tried using their solutions but nothing has worked.
I cannot export anything from Premier Pro using Media Encoder.  When I try, I get an yellow warning sign saying that it cannot read from the source, and when I close out of it I get a message saying that there is an installation error and that I need to make sure it is installed correctly.  I have uninstalled and re-installed ALL of my Adobe products about three times this past weekend trying to fix it and nothing has worked.  I have tried making sure that there are no blank spaces in my project, I have named it several different things, I have moved it from my external drive to my main drive, to a different external drive, etc.
I am using a Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard, all of my software has been updated, and I am very frustrated.
    Help?

    Bummer!
Well, it was worth a shot, as externals/network drives have been known to cause similar.
Now, there were issues with Encore and Snow Leopard, but I do not recall all of the details, as I am a PC-guy, and have to admit that first I do not know squat about Macs, and probably do not read Mac threads as closely, as I should. Seems that Apple was working on an update to Snow Leopard, and again from recollection, it seems that that update helped several on the Encore forum. Have you updated Snow Leopard?
Sorry to just sit here guessing, and probably wasting valuable time for you, but until a Mac-user with the "fix" comes along, the PC-community will try to help. Be patient with us though. Our intentions are good ones, but our expertise is lacking - at least in MY case.
    Good luck,

  • Cannot export videos into iPod format?????

I have Quicktime Pro, and recently exported some 15 video or so into iPod format, then imported them into iTunes for storage on my 60 GB iPod 5G. Imagine my surprise to find the error message that some of the videos, including all but three of the ones I exported, cannot be played on my iPod. I even tried using iTunes to re-export the videos in iPod format, to no avail.
What's the deal? I thought the "export to iPod" option in Quicktime Pro 7.1.2 and the "convert selection to iPod" function in iTunes was so that I could vide my videos on this iPod. Why is this no longer working?????

There are some files (such as MPEG-1 and those with muxed audio) that Quicktime has trouble converting. I use iSquint for converting videos for my iPod, and it works great. It's faster than Quicktime, and it's also free!

  • Quicktime crashes when trying to export video

I just upgraded to Quicktime Pro 7 (from Quicktime 7.1). Evertime I try to export a video (homemade avi) Quicktime crashes. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but the problem still exists. The video was created with Pinnacle Studio version 9. Can anyone help?

Often, issues such as you describe are caused by the Lr preferences file becoming corrupted. This can lead to something being embedded in the file that the encoder or the viewing application can't habdle. It's therefore worth either trashing or tempoarily relocating the Lr preference file. This page provides info on where the file can be found http://forums.adobe.com/thread/358041?tstart=0

  • Quicktime error...cannot open videos from "My Videos" folder. Help!

Hello. I'm running Windows XP SP2. I have lots of video files (Quicktime format..filmed via Panasonic digital camera) saved in the "My Videos" folder on my hard drive. I have always been able to open the folder, double-click the selected movie and watch the video open in it's own Quicktime window for play (and it has always played just fine). A few days ago things changed. When I double-click a selected clip the Quicktime window opens..but when I push PLAY I get this message: "QuickTime Player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." HOWEVER,..if I go to the desktop and launch Quicktime from the desktop icon I can browse for my video (through the Quicktime file menu), find it and it plays perfectly. I can also (once Quicktime has been launched from the desktop) minimize it, then proceed to search for videos in the "My Videos" folder as usual and play them with no problem. It's a minor unconvenience, but I sure miss just simply navigating to "My Videos" and firing up the clips from there. Any ideas? I uninstalled the re-installed Quicktime and that didn't help. Itunes seems to be working fine as well. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Any tips, gang? I've unistalled/reinstalled Quicktime several times. I used CCleaner to mop up any registry errors/redundacies and have run multiple virus scans. Again,...iTunes works fine. Quicktime plays all my videos if I "open it first". But,..my saved video files will still not "launch and play" (via Quicktime) when selected from "My Videos" folder (which they had been doing fine up until recently). I know I can convert the videos with software that I have (or play them with VLC..which I ALSO have)...but I run a fairly clean computer and I'm the sort that just gets frustrated if things stop working like they're supposed to. If anyone has any ideas or trouble-shooting tips please advise. Cheers.

  • I cannot view video clips in iphoto. quicktime used to open automatically but no longer

I cannot view video clips I created and syncd from my iphone into iphoto.  Quicktime used to open automatically.  Now it wont for some reason.

If you have iPhoto 8 and Lion then download and install QuickTime Player 7 for Mac OS X v10.6.3 or later.  That should let you view clips in the iPhoto library.
