Why Reader X is asking to save?

When I open PDF from gmail (received as an attachement) just to view it, and then close it, Reader X asks for saving the file. Does anyone know how to disable it?

It could be that someting in the file (such as a JavaScript action) is causing a change, so Reader asks if you want to save the modified document. I'm not aware of a way to prevent this.

  • Adobe Reader 11.0.5 asks to save every file I open...

Every time I open a file just to look at it: When I exit, Adobe Reader asks if I want to save the file. This happens on every file I open, regardless of the source or type of PDF. It also happens when I open those files in Adobe Acrobat Pro, version 9. This has only started relatively recently. I didn't pay much attention at first, because I had other things on my mind, but now it is starting to concern me.
This reminds me of (way back in the day) when there were Word viruses going around which tried to install themselves in every Word document you opened.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this, or how I can get it to stop?

This phenomenon can happen with PDF files that have errors in them.  Adobe Reader or Acrobat may be able to fix these errors, but if you close the application, it will ask to save the corrected file.  If you save it once, that should no longer occur when you open it again.
This is just one explanation, but it doesn't explain why that happens with every PDF you have.
Test: does it also happen with a PDF that is not supposed to contain any errors: http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/adobe_reader_reference.pdf ?

  • Why does Apple ask to save passwords?

Why does Apple ask to save passwords?I am using PC's.

Thanks Doc, and apologies for tardy reply. I've checked the file permissions and all seems to be right. I've also re-made the bookfile with the same result.

  • InDesign (10.0.0.70) always asks to save every time I open an existing document (no legacy) even if I don't make any changes, why?

Literally EVERY time I open an existing document that I created myself before InDesign brings up the "Save" Dialog when I close it. I'm working with the Creative Suite like forever already and only had that sometimes, very rarely before (up to CS6). Now at my new job with CC set up this phenomenon appears. ALL files are saved on local hard drive!
Any idea or is InDesign now set to ask all the time?
    Thanks for any tips!

I totally understand version issues, BUT I did create tons of new documents in CC2014 already and still every time I've been ask to save it only when opening and closing them! Like I said it happens EVERY time and I'm working constantly with InDesign. Up until now I only kinda accepted what it is and didn't have time to deal with that problem...

  • Why doesn't my iMAC (Safari) always ask to save my password for a website?

Many of my old websites have a saved password on the Safari preferences.  But lately no new sites have asked me "if i want to save the password to this site".
My settings in Safari have not changed.. Any ideas what causes this and how to change set up to always ask to save my password?
    Thank you,
    VA

The OP doesn't say they are having problems with their old websites.
Many sites delibertly code their login web pages so passwords won't be saved. I don't know how to determine this.
Now, if you are having a problem with an old website that previously worked. It may not because the keychain is outdated.
This is a real pain. Especially when I deleted a bunch of keychains, yet when I go back to safari and type username and asswords, I don't get a prompt to save them. At least at login.yahoo.com
What is the chance of safari getting changed to remember all entered data regardless of how the login webpage is encoded? I have heard third party applications do this. It shouldn't be website determined. Shared computers - no saving, most other cases, up to user.
Now instead of my passwords safe in the keychain, I have to save them somewhere else. A lot more inconvient and insecure.

  • Why is Reader X forcing us to save file?

Does anyone know why Reader X is forcing us to save a file when we just want to view?  We currently have Acrobat 6.0 installed and just upgraded to Reader X.  Is there an incompatibility issue here that may be causing this problem?

The only thing that worked for me was to boot in safe mode.
Power down.  Then press power button and hold 'shift' key until grey screen with progress bar appears... Once booted and logged in just open safari and browse to applestore.
No trouble at all once I did this.
Reminder: create full backup before you upgrade OS

  • Options Startup Show my Windows & Tabs from last time, but upon exit FF doesn't ask to save tabs & windows. When restarting FF I have a home pape, but no Bookmark tabs show. Why

Upon starting FF and going to my Home Page, I have no Bookmarks or Tabs showing. I have to Re-load the Bookmark Tabs. My options at Startup are "Show my Windows & Tabs from last time" Also using the Firefox exit,it does not ask to save tabs & windows on Exit. I'm getting tired of adding Bookmark Tabs each time I want to use FF.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

  • Why does iPhoto keep asking me to confirm faces after they are already confirmed?

Why does iPhoto keep asking me to confirm faces after they are already confirmed?
Once it searches for photos containing (insert name) and says "(insert name) maybe found in 1,750 photos". I click to confirm the said person and it highlights the photos already found in that persons "folder", which already contains 662 photos AND it does not show any of the unconfirmed photos. However, it told me that it found 1,750 photos....where are the missing unconfirmed pictures for me to tag? I have already rebuilt my thumbnails (which already took 3 days to do as I have MANY photos).

You are running Firefox 34, the most recent version is 35.0.1. If you are having trouble updating, please try downloading the most recent version from www.getfirefox.com and installing it over your existing version. It will save your information but update Firefox to the newest version.

  • Indesign cc book asks to save over old file

I have an Indesign CC book file that was originally created in CS6 but has been converted. Everytime I close it, I'm asked if I would like to save over the old file. Why is it doing this?

Asking to save a Book when you close the panel is pretty normal, in my experience, but you may be **** things you aren't aware of.
Opeing a book file in a new version does not create new copies of the component files and point to those (nor does making a copy of the .indb and component files). The book itself is just a clooection of pointers to the files it contains, and those are absolute paths, so if you open a file from a copy of a book you are opening the original file, not a new copy.
The safe way to move a book to a new version of ID is to make copies of the inidvidual files, convert those, then create a brand new book file and add the files to it.

  • In order to transfer a document from Internet I am asked to save it first in my computer. In another PC I can simply open it. How can I do this in the former?

In order to transfer a document from Internet in one of my computers, I am asked to save it first (in my computer). In another computer I am not asked to save it and I can simply open it. IO would like to have the possibility to simply open it on the first computer and save it only if I want.

  • Xcode 4.2 not ask to save changes

Why xcode 4.2 will not ask: "to save changes or not", for example when I delete \ altering anything in the StoryBoard and elsewhere? Wen I close xcode, it's just save any changes I did, but I do not want to do this. That's bad, I can do any modifications in my project and then just hit close button and it's will be saved without any warning messages, but if i do not want to save?

No he isn't.  Those links just go the introductory pages, which say nothing about this.  As usual for him.
There is no preference for this in Xcode, which is probably WHY THIS GUY ASKED.
This situation is a lot worse than simply not asking to save a file.  Lion is deleting work.
Last night I typed a non-trivial paragraph of code into a source file.  And saved it.  I hit Command-S after every line of code, no exaggeration.  A few minutes later, I was scrolling up and down madly looking for it and couldn't find it.  In case I accidentally put it in the wrong file, I searched the whole project for a string I knew I'd used.  Nowhere to be found.
Suddenly Xcode presents a dialog complaining that it couldn't autosave the file because it had been modified externally.  Did I want to "revert", or save what was in the editor?
I've been seeing these dialogs on both my machines intermittently for weeks.  Same versions of everything on each system: OS, dev tools.  Same project.  Usually I opt to save what's in the editor, thinking that it must be the correct version.  Well now I know otherwise.  I hit "Revert", and the block of code magically reappeared on my screen.
No, there was nothing else running that could've deleted code.  At least, not anything visible.
But it occurred to me that this might be Lion file-management crap gone seriously and dangerously wrong.  And now that other people are reporting the same thing, it looks like that suspicion is being borne out.

  • Why am I being asked to authenticate for example when dragging a picture from an email to my desktop?  Can this be turned off?  It started with Lion

Why am I being asked to authenticate by entering my password when for example dragging a picture from an email to my desktop?  This started with Lion.  Is there a way to turn it off?  Thanks,

I found that right clicking on my hard drive, Get Info and under Sharing & Permissions when the Privilege was changed to Read & Write, the authentication pop ups stopped and I could drag pictures to my desktop and save attachments there also.  Now my hubby and I will investigate the Names under S&P.  We know one is System, another is him sharing.  There is a third that says everyone so it will be the main one we research.  I get the basics of what they are - to secure folders etc. from someone getting into my computer.  I'm sure this is a pretty basic description of the issue so I guess if you read this and try any of this to stop the authentication, you should make sure you know what and why.
    Thanks for your help softwater.

  • Always Asks To Save

Whenever I quit GB it always asks to save. Even when I haven't changed anything. Anyone know why?

Nope, just open and close. I don't touch anything else and still does it. It doesn't do it with certain projects I have, so that why I'm thinking that it maybe be an echo, from the auto-record enable from when you open a project, that is causing the message to appear.
