Why rotated rectangle tool can't draw rotated ROI on image?

I want to use the tool window to draw a rotated rectangle on image, but each time, it seems only draw a rectangle, it can't rotate. Don't know why?
In Vision Assitant, if I use rotated rectangle tool, it will show like this:
Using the cross lines in rectangle, I can rotate my ROI, it is OK.
Run the sample code: C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\CVI\samples\Vision\2. Functions\Geometric Matching, change     imaqShowToolWindow (FALSE);
to  imaqShowToolWindow (TRUE);
on line 93#. Compile then run. Seems I also can't rotate my ROI, don't know why?
Please show me? Thank you.

Hi,
You cannot perform action on an overlay. In order to achieve what you want to do, I suggest you to use the ROI property in an image property node. Then just pass your ROI coordinates, the ROI will be updated automatically whenever your coordinates changes. You can drag a ROI this is impossible with an overlay.

  • Why is Rectangle Tool's matching dimension feature not working?

With the Rectangle Tool's cursor is clicked in the document.
    The Rectangle Panel appears.
    A height dimension is entered.
With the pointer, the Width field is clicked.
Usually, the Height Value gets automatically entered in the Width field.
In this case it does not.
This same behavior is occuring in the Ellipse Tool.
    What has changed?

I may not have been clear on what is not working... the feature I am trying to create has been in Illustrator for several versions... another discusion on this site deals with the same problem...
    see http://forums.adobe.com/message/4910715... it is explained...
'There has always been a one click solution, just like the help file says. Try it in CS5, click once with the tool, enter your width value, click on the word height, ill copies the width value into the height field, hit enter and you are done.'
it is this function that I have used for years.

  • How do I eliminate the automatic pop-up created when using the Rectangle Tool?

For some odd reason, Acrobat 9 is now adding a pop-up every time I use the Rectangle Tool.  I am using the Rectangle Tool merely to draw a box around text but I do NOT want there to be an associated pop-up.  Is there a way to change it so the pop-up will not be automatically created and all I will get is the rectangle itself?
    Thanks for your help!
    Jim

    Something to try -
Open Acrobat's Preferences. Select the Commenting category. The second (middle) pane has Pop-Up Open Behavior configuration settings. Playing with what is or is not ticked may provide the desired pop-up behavior.

  • Problem rotating rectangle (selecting corners) after creating with rectangle tool in illustrator

I'm using the latest CC version of Illustrator. When I draw a rectangle using the rectangle tool, I no longer seem to be able to select the corners to resize the rectangle nor does the cursor turn to a rotate icon when I put the mouse just outside the corner. I know that Ai CC treats rectangles differently now, with the live rectangles and the rounded corner options, and the transform box opening automatically. What I'm wondering, and hoping isn't the case, is whether this is this at the expense of being able to go right in and resize using the just the mouse? I know that there is the  "Object > Shape > Expand" option, but having to do that for every time I draw a rectangle is time-consuming and adds and extra step that was unnecessary before. I saw a tutorial on Lynda where the instructor drew a live rectangle in CC AND was still able to resize it by grabbing the corner "handle". Anyone know if this is just a setting I need to turn on or something similarly easy, or is it a case of Adobe inadvertently making the workflow longer when trying to make it easier? And yes, I have "show bounding box" selected under VIEW.

    MOD indi-go girl,
I am afraid you have come across the Live Rectangle bug which is limited to the MAC versions starting with 10.7 and 10.8, but not 10.9 (Mavericks) or 10.10 (Yosemite). Hopefully, the bug will be fixed soon.
So a switch to Mavericks or Yosemite with a reinstallation might be the way to solve it here and now.
To get round it in each case, it is possible to Expand the Live Rectangles to get normal old fashioned rectangles, or to Pathfinder>Unite, or to use the Scale Tool or the Free Transform Tool.
A more permanent way round that is to create normal old fashioned rectangles, after running the free script created by Pawel, see this thread with download link:

  • Getting the no draw cursor when trying to use rectangle tool

I am doing assignment 9 (Perspective) in the Adobe Illustrator Classroom in a Book. After setting up the grid as it says, it tells you to choose the rectangle tool and then a grid side from the Plane switching widget, then draw a rectangle. When trying this my cursor changes into the pen with the line thru the circle, not letting me draw. Does anyone have a suggestion for why this is happening? I should be able to hover over the origin of the perspective grid and the cursor should turn to an arrow pointing left indicating that I can draw.
    Thanks in advance,
    Eryn

    Which version?
    Can you show a screenshot?

  • Can't get pencil tool into merge drawing mode

I have downloaded the trial version of Adobe Executive Suite CS5. In the Flash Professional CS5 program I am trying to do a drawing with the pencil tool.  In the old version of Flash that I have (4.0) if I draw two lines that overlap, I can delete the line past the point where they cross.  In this version I can't do that.  It treats each line I draw as a separate item and won't combine them.  I notice the properties panel says I am in Object mode which would be the reason.  However I can't get it to go to merge mode, which is supposed to be the default.
Is this because it's the trial version and not all features work in that version?  Or could there be some other reason?
Thanks for any help anyone can offer.  My email address is [email protected] and I can be phoned at 541 782-5904 (Oregon).

Thank you.  I tried what you said and the button simply didn't respond.  However I was using the line tool or the pencil tool when I did this. I later tried using the rectangle tool and then it worked.  Once I got it switched back it stayed that way.  I appreciate your emailing me, it's so hard to get answers to problems with Adobe.  I had the old Flash program by Macromedia and I honestly believe it is easier to use than the new one.  But maybe that won't be so once I've spent more time with it.
    Thanks again.

  • My rectangle marquee tool won't draw 90 degree corners...it defaults to a round corner.

My rectangle marquee tool has stopped drawing right angle corners. When I use the tool and mark the area, as long as I hold the mouse down I have right angles, As soon as I release the mouse the corners become rounded. It must be a simple toggle, but I can't find it,

    Hi there
Make sure the feather value in the Rectangular Marquee options bar is set to 0 px, as shown below:
If this does not solve your issue, feel free to post here again.

It is a mute point now. PSE12 finally failed to the point it locked up the MAC. I had to restore the MAC OS from backup to a point before the PSE12 update.
The MAC now operates correctly and so does PSE12. I don't think I'll be updating PSE any time soon.

Can not use all the tools in my drawing markups any ideas on getting them to work?

    Hi tonys60181,
Could you please let me know what version of Adobe Acrobat are you using.
What all drawing tools are you unable to access?
Is this issue specific to one PDF file or all?
What exactly happens when you try to use any drawing markup?
    Please let me know.

  • How can I make a user imported image rotate on a control?

I am trying to import a graphic to use in place of the needle on an indicator. When i do this, however, the image does not rotate, it merely moves around while maintaining its original orientation.
Is there a way that I can import my own image into a control or indicator, and have it rotate (pivot around some center) when given a numerical input, such as 0 to 360 degrees?

    Hi Kevin12345,
I do know of a way to import an image to control... and have it rotate.
Depending on the complexity of your image, a picture control may be usefull.
The Robot arm example demonstrates how an angle can be used to control an image. If the image you are trying to import to complex to code, this may not be viable.
If you can be happy with a reduce resolution (i.e. interger degree steps only) you could use your favorite image edit app to rotate the image one degree at a time, and then import each image into a picture ring.
All of these work-arounds lack scaling.

  • How can I change the frame around a title created with the Rectangle Tool?

In PrE 7, I have been creating titles (e.g.: Title > New Title > Default Still, etc.) for a long time and using the many ways to manipulate the text (type, color, size, animation, etc.). Today, I tried to use the Rectangle Tool (or the Ellipse Tool, or the Line Tool) and they created a beautiful 'frame' (like a picture frame: artistically designed and colored) and I can change the background color within the frame and place any text (also background picture, etc.) in it. However, I couldn't find any way to change the 'frame' or the general style of these title objects. Is there any way to do this, or this is the only design that can be created with these tools? I would greatly appreciate any help (couldn't find any in this u2u site). Thanks, Laci.

    Laci,
Yes, you can apply Styles to several Rectangles (or other Shapes), to simulate a "frame." The Styles should appear as Text in the Styles Panel. Since you are working with Shapes, but viewing the Styles applied to Text, it is not perfectly intuitive as to what those Styles look like with the Shapes.
Personally, I find that doing things like "frames" in Photoshop and then Importing the PSD's into PrE is far, far easier. In that case, I would place the PSD on Video Track 1 (unless I wanted it to appear superimposed over my Video (like a PiP), and then do the text in a PrE Title, and place it above the PSD.
    Here is an example:
This is a simple "picture frame" created in PS. I used a still image, instead of text in this case. These could be "wood-grained," "granite," etc.
Much more control and tons of Effects and Filters that can be applied.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - that is from PrPro, so the GUI will look quite different, but things work the same way.

  • Can I place a (Rectangle Tool) container filled with an image in an (Accordion) widget and make it clickable?

Is it possible to use the Rectangle Tool to create a container, fill the container with a graphic image, place the container and image in an Accordion widget space and make the container clickable to open and close the Accordion?
I've done this but the container isn't clickable, only the other areas of the Accordion window are. Can this be done?

You can use the image as fill for label of accordion which will open the container on click.
If this does not answer your question then please provide me an example where I can see what exactly you are trying to achieve.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit
