Why safari auto refresh

imac
lion:10.7.2
safari:5.1.1
the safari auto refresh all the pages sometimes.how so solve the problem?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I have been away for several days.
A shareware program is one that you can try out before you buy it to see if you like it and if it will do what you need it to do. If you decide to keep using the program, then you are expected to pay for it. Most shareware have nominal prices. As I remember, PithHelmet costs US$10.00.

  • Safari auto refresh and iCloud

When composing an email in the webmail application at the iCloud website, the Safari screen on my MacBook Air will refresh every few minutes, causing me to lose the work I have done. I end up  with a blank screen for the window that I was composing the email in. I don't recall seeing this problem on my other Macs, which are not MBAs. Does anyone have an idea on how to stop this auto refresh? I tried turning off Java Script but iCloud requires it to work.

Well, perhaps I have fixed this problem. I cleared out all the cookies on my MBA yesterday. I tested this again today and so far, so good. I went 5 minutes without the screen refreshing on me. We'll see if it stays fixed.

  • Safari Auto Refreshing?

Is Safari supposed to automatically refresh pages in the event a new page is opened? I'm noticing if I have more than one page, at some point when I load a new one, all the other pages will refresh, which is frustrating when I'm trying to check my email/blog/IM and with each refresh I'm logged out.

Yes if you are on one page for a long time it will forget the other pages and once you switch to the other page it will refresh and load. If you don't like this way send Apple feedback

  • FireFox won't auto-refresh specific site, other browsers do. How can I get FF to auto-refresh?

I have a Help Desk application (everything HelpDesk) with a web interface. I keep my queue screen open so I can see new tickets come in and check status of existing tickets. FireFox does not auto-refresh this queue page so that new items or status changes show up. The page must be manually re-loaded in FireFox. However, other browsers (Chrome, IE, Safari) auto-refresh the queue page just fine. How can I get FireFox to auto-refresh this page?

    See:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"
The setting in "Tools > Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

  • Why Safari 6.0 will not auto complete the password ?

Why Safari 6.0 will not auto complete the password ? even when the option is selected in autofill tab, and the user-password are listed in the password tab ?
It used to work fine before I upgraded to mountain lion.
      Tks

Same problem for me since upgrading to ML.  Safari remembers autofills for some passwords but not others.  For example my web mail password was no longer auto filled.  Checked in the keychain list and all the info was there. Therefore I deleted this and tried again - but Safari did not offer to remember the password.  Than ran an old script I had that is designed to "Removed autocomplete=off from 0 forms and from 2 form elements, and removed onsubmit from 0 forms. After you type your password and submit the form, the browser will offer to remember your password." Safari then offered to remember the password.  I accepted this and checked that the password was then saved in keychain - it was. However, next time I tried to access the email Safari once more did not auto complete.  Very frustrating, especially as some auto completes do work.  I hope apple sort this out soon.

  • Why does my Safari Auto-Fill only work part of the time?

First of all, why isn't there a link on the Apple website to provide Feedback?  Secondly, I'd love to know why my Safari Auto-Fill only works some of the time, like when entering Sweepstakes information.  I realize some websites don't allow Auto-Fill, but on the ones that do, I can't get the second window to open up when I click "Auto-Fill".

Safari 6.1.1 and yes all web forms are checked under Preferences Auto-Fill.  I am daily entering sweepstakes for the HGTV dream home, and even though the initial bubble shows up "Auto-Fill your contact information" shows up, when I click on it, the second bubble that lets you confirm the info doesn't always open.  I tried it just now in a separate tab, and it opened; then I came back here to write some of the message.  Then I went back to try again and it won't open.  It drives me crazy.  I keep trying with each new data field and sometimes the second bubble will open further down the page.

  • Apple, please fix safari random crash and tab auto refresh

Apple, are those issues ever going to get fixed? They destroyed iOS 7's usability and the latest 7.1 beta doesnt seem to address either.
    1) Safari randomly crashes -  happens multiple times a day. Sometimes opening new pages, sometimes scrolling through existing page.  This issue has NEVER happened on iOS 6.
    2) Tabs auto refreshing when you switch from 1 tab to the next - it is EXTREMELY annoying, for example when i was typing up a post in a tab or looking at the result of a long search, then need to lookup something else so i open up a new tab, then when I go back to the original tab, it automatically refreshes wiping out everything i just typed or the searh result.  This issue has NEVER happened in iOS 6.
I am using ipad air with the latest update. Please fix them, it's unacceptable.

  • Hi there!  How can I disable auto refresh in Safari 4.0.4?

I find the auto refresh of websites irritating.  Sites even refresh while viewing an imbedded video, forcing you to restart the vid.
    Some sites specifically: Drudgereport.com & Instapundit.com
    Thanks for any help  offered!
    Jim in Guam

Sadly this did not fix the problem.  Also having turned JavaScript off, trying it out, and reverting to JavaScript back on, now videos don't play in Safari.  Also, I asked for info on Safari 4.0.4, which should have been 5.1.5.
Thanks for the effort in any event!

  • Safari tab auto-refresh (iPad Air iOS 7.0.4)

When I have multiple tabs open on Safari and I switch from one tab to another, the tab that I'm switching to will reload, causing me to lose the spot I was at on the page. This is especially frustrating when I'm in the process of writing something on one tab then need to use another tab to search for a reference in regards to what I am writing on the previous tab and when I go back to the original tab, everything I had written is gone so I've had to select and copy what I can so I don't always lose all my work (in fact this happened twice while writing this post and I lost all text) but still always lose some of it since I can only save text from one section of a page, for example, I cannot save the title and the body of my post when creating a new thread.
This is also very annoying when I'm trying to read news articles and I keep having to start at the beginning of the page and always have to scroll through the article to get back to where I was...
This is basically making the whole browsing experience very unpleasant. Is there a fix for this? Please do help me if you know of one.

Apple is getting worse and worse. I have the same problem with my iPad retina and I had the same problem with iPad 3 but not with iPad 2. Before to buy the iPad Air I checked in a store if they fixed this annoying problem but I saw they didn't, so I decided not to buy it anymore and actually I want to sell my iPad retina because the auto refresh is very annoying, I cannot use it to work! Apple is good for children to play but not to work. Next time I will buy a cheap chinese android tablet. Also the operating system is much worse than iOS6. Instead to lose their time (the engineers) for this dusguted transparent design that makes me nausea, they could work to fix all the problems the iPad has. It seems they worked hard to make a worse operating system, look at the task bar for example; Earlier there were the url task bar and google's task bar, now they put them together....it's ridiculous!!! If I want to go back to the google page I have to write everything from the beginnig, instead earlier it was sufficient going to the google's task bar and the last research would appeared.

  • Why won't  Safari auto-fill work most of the time?

Safari Auto-fill sends me a note it can't fill because the info doesn't match--but it does match. Won't even fill in address, etc. Happens about 60% of the time. Thank you!

    Hi cmate;
You might have better luck with your Safari question if you posted it over in the Safari forum.

  • How do I stop Safari from refreshing pages on my iPad?

This is really annoying.  I am not sure if it is related to time or to memory.  (it's not auto-refresh set by the website).  I often load up several web pages in tabs that I would like to read on the train to work.  Unfortunately when I open the tabs, they refresh eating into my data plan.  If I switch off data, then the pages still try to refresh and I can't see them at all.
surely there must be an iPad Safari option to stop pages from automatically re-loading?

Did you click on the export icon -- box with an arrow above it?
Click on add to reading list -- old fashion glasses icon?
to see click on book icon
    click on glasses.

  • How to fix a website that auto refreshes to not open up in a new tab.

I use a scheduling website for work that auto refreshes. Sometimes when the page auto refreshes it opens up the current page I am on in a new tab instead of just refreshing in that tab like it usually does.
I have reset safari multiple times and it doesn't help. Any idea what I need to do?

Type '''about:config''' in Address bar and search '''browser.newtab.url''' change the value to "about:newtab"
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
When you enter a search term in the Firefox location bar and press Enter, Firefox will per default do a "I'm feeling lucky" Google search and redirect you to the first result that matches your search term. This behaviour can be changed by a number of add-ons. If you'd like to restore the previous default behaviour, please follow these steps:
#Enter about:config in the Firefox location bar and press Enter.
#You should see a warning that making changes to the Firefox configuration can be potentially harmful to Firefox's integrity. Click the ''I'll be careful, I promise'' button to continue.
#In the Search box at the top, enter ''keyword'' as the search term. You should see a few remaining items, one of these is ''keyword.URL''. It should be bold.
#Right-click on the keyword.URL setting and select ''Reset'' from the dropdown menu.
Now you're done. Please report back if this fixes your problem. Thanks in advance!
You can find more information about the Location bar search feature in the [[Location bar search]] article.

  • Konqueror file management and auto-refresh

    Hello all,
I am working with Arch and KDEmod and so far everything is pretty good. I do have one problem that is a bit annoying.
Konqueror file manager windows do not automatically refresh when viewing the URLs system:/home or system:/users/jay. The system:/home URL is what is opened when you click on the "Home" icon, so this makes this problem stand out.
Anyway, the problem can be reduced by doing the following:
    1. Open Konqueror file browser and select "Home Folder" from the tree on left. This puts you at the URL system:/home. (Alternately, just click on the "Home" icon that gets set up in the kicker by KDEmod.)
    2. In a terminal window create a file in your home directory. Note that the file does not show up in the Konqueror window.
    3. Press F5 to refresh Konqueror. The newly created file now appears.
    4. In a terminal window delete the file you just created. Again, note that the file does not disappear from the Konqueror window.
    5. Press F5 to refresh Konqueror. The file now disappears.
The correct behavior is that when you create and delete the file, it shows and then disappears from the Konqueror window accordingly. Currently this does not work for the system:/home (Home Folder) or system:/users/jay (Users Folders/<user full name>) URLs. Interestingly enough, if I type the URL "/home/jay" into the Konqueror location bar in file management mode and then do the above steps, the auto-refresh works fine.
Does anyone have any clues as to why the refresh doesn't work for the system:/ URLs? Is this by design? What plugin actually provides the system:/ URL schema?
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Jay

    Hi LunAds,
I'm afraid you have just discovered how bad these features are implemented in Excel: they just don't work properly and I always advise against using them for any serious long-term solution.
If you do not have Excel services, then editing the document on the server (which would prevent lots of problems) is out of the question indeed.
Alternatives depend a lot on your needs.
For example, you could use sharepoint lists that the users can edit and then import those lists into Excel for reporting purposes.
But if this is relational data (parent-child tables, which is very often the case) then a database solution is probably the best route to take.
