I live in Hong Kong, but I am from Seattle WA. When i look for ibooks or itunes my selections are extremely limited. Is this because I'm in a different country?

For instance; it seems on the net I see that many Tom Clancy books are availbe on ibooks, but i can not just look them up on my phone. along with many other authors. in the Category section, when trying to browse, many of the categories do not contain any authors or titles at all. this goes for many "i" apps.

  • I backed up 10.4 but cannot migrate data, need help

Hi, New here. I had a 1 on 1 training and was recommended to back up my computer (Tiger OS) which I did. I installed Leopard, but cannot migrate data back. I backed up on a USB IOmega drive. The person I spoke with at the apple store either did not know or did not remember to tell me to turn off the File Vault. Now I cannot bring back much of the data or settings I had.
Here's my question, If I reinstall Tiger, will I be able to transfer the data back from the back-up drive, and then just do an upgrade instead of a complete fresh install of Leopard?
    Thanks,
    Mike

You should be able to mount your file vault directory- the sparse image- within Leopard from your backup, and then copy the data to your new user directory.
You should be able to copy the data from your backup drive if you re-install Tiger, but since its not clear why you can't copy the data from the drive now, its not clear whether the issue preventing you from getting at it will go away after you reinstall Tiger.
I think maybe you might want to restate your problem in more detail.

  • Satellite P500/01R reads data but cannot write data files to CD

I recently bought a Satellite P500/01R laptop. I am able to read a data CD but cannot write data files to CD. The CD is read/write.
    Any ideas?

    Hi
Did you try different burning software?
Im using the Nero and in my opinion one of the best burning applications.
There I can choose between CD, DVD, DL or Blueray (only possible if CD/DVD drive supports this too.)
Did you also check different CDs from different manufacturers?
You should do this since not all disks are 100% compatible.
I had many issues with different CD or DVD in most cases it was an compatibility issue I tested TDK and these kind of disk is compatible with my CD/DVD drive
    Im using the R standard.

  • HT4967 I can sync data from my Mac to my iPhone and iPad and from my iPhone to the Mac and iPad, but cannot sync data from the iPad to either device. My iPad is configured to Push. Is there another setting than I'm forgetting?

I can update data from my Mac to my iPhone and iPad, and from my iPhone to my Mac and iPad, but cannot get data to update from my iPad to either my Mac or my iPhone.

If new calendar events entered on your iPad do not appear on icloud.com, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar on your iPad and be sure you have selected an iCloud calendar as your default and not something else like On My iPhone, a Gmail or Yahoo calendar, etc.  If you haven't, make this change, then add a new event and see if it appears on your calendar on icloud.com now.
If your settings are correct and new events still aren't appearing on icloud.com, add any missing calendar events from your iPad to your calendar on icloud.com.  Once the calendar on icloud.com is up to date with your iPad, go to Settings>iCloud, turn Calendars to Off, choose Delete from My iPad when prompted (they will still be in iCloud), then after a 15 seconds or so, turn Calendars back to On.  Then add a new event on your iPad and see if it appears on your calendar on icloud.com now, and on your other devices.

  • I want to buy an i pad with wifi and 4G in Hong Kong but 4G not available yet. Why is this?

Do you need 4G in Hong Kong and how come its not available yet. Will it work with the mobile services available here? Does anyone have any info on this?

This 4G business (Like anything else), is being hyped like crazy. In the UK we do not have proper 4G yet , however the new iPad works just fine on 3G. Think of it this way the faster you download data the quicker yo'll get through your quota of data. Even if 4G was available now I could bet bet you the tariffs wouldn't change much, making it very expensive. Personally as yet, I couldnt give a monkies about 4G as we have so many free Wifi spot here.. And I know you do in Hong Kong too as I was living out there last year!
Hong Kong tip: try the burger bars, coffee shops and shopping malls for free wifi. In addition HK telecoms companies usually offer free wifi for at least 60 days before you are committed to a contract (something I've not seen in UK)!

  • EA3500 Phones can connect to wireless router, but cannot transfer data

Ok, Since Cisco is completely helpless on helping me (this is why we are switching from Cisco stuff to other brands like Aruba at my work) I was thinking you guys would help me.  I got hanged up twice on this problem.  TWICE.
So, my phone and my friends phones can connect to the wifi but I cannot receive nor send data from it.  The phones work completely fine elsewhere.  Here is the kicker, my computer works completely OK on the router and my phone used to work for 3-4 hours before this issue started going again.  Now it is constantly.  I restarted the modem, default reset it and still nothing.  I get an IP address too and it stays connected.  Any help.  Cisco thinks its the phone, but its multiple phones that are having the problem and my phone and other works completely fine at other places.

The quickest way to get your phones working is to configure them staticly. More than likely........either your modem, your firewall, your router, or your ISP is blocking the proxy. Try using Google Public DNS. 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 Disable any proxy blocking features of your modem or firewall.
Sometimes simply changing the DNS on your router to Google Public DNS might fix the problem.

    begin
         dbms_capture_adm.start_capture (
              capture_name     => 'capture_13gstrm');
    end;

In step 9, there seem to be 2 create_capture commands performed at the same database: each with a different source database (labdb.world and ora11g). Keep in mind that the source database should be the GLOBAL_NAME of the source database. You can identify the global_name by selecting from the GLOBAL_NAME table (select * from global_name;) for the database originating the changes to be captured. BTW, there is no set_up_queue for the capture_sfstrm (queue_name=>'capture_sfq')
The error that you have received indicates that the CAPTURE_13GSTRM is a local capture (ie, it is not a downstream capture) process. DOWNSTREAM_REAL_TIME_MINE can only be configured for a downstream capture process.
ORA-26764: invalid parameter "DOWNSTREAM_REAL_TIME_MINE" for local capture "CAPTURE_13GSTRM"
To create a downstream capture process, you run the CREATE_CAPTURE at the downstream capture database(ie, not the source database) AND specify the source_database parameter using the GLOBAL_NAME of the database whose changes you are trying to capture.
There are probably a few other issues with this setup as presented. For example, in Step 11 I see propagation configured between a source queue and destination queue on the same database. If the changes are to be applied to this same database (where the downstream capture is configured), then it is not necessary to configure propagation to a second queue within that database. In the case of coexisting downstream capture with local apply, the downstream capture should enqueue messages to the same queue from which the apply dequeues.
I recommend you take a look at the 2Day+ Data Replication and Integration manual for a [tutorial on configuring  replication with downstream capture.|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10703/tdpii_repcont.htm#BABIJCDG]

  • No JSR-75 on device, but cannot pack data into the jar itself : am I stuck?

    I'm currently developing a translating tool for a non-JSR75 device (Nokia 6230).
My application needs to access a big list of words, which cannot either be packed in the jar as it would make its size greater than 128k, which is the limit on my device.
Is there a third solution, or am I fried?

I think there is no other solution except making queries on a remote site ...
The methods I see for storing/quering data :
    - In the jar file
    - In the record store (RMS API)
    - With JSR 75 In new storage area (mainly cards)
    - In a remote site and you open a connection to this site via basic network calls or higher level methods thanks to web services
One thing that is sure with this limit of the jar file is that is different on most phones.
    You can think about a way to compress your database maybe;
    Regards.

  • 3600 Slide from Hong Kong - Maps not installed

    Hello,
I recently purchased a 3600 Slide in Hong Kong and cannot find Maps installed on it. The Nokia Asia website says it should be installed, but the Nokia Hong Kong site seems to show that the phone doesn't come with Maps.  This is quite confusing and needless to say I am very disappointed that Maps is not installed on my phone, while it is available on the 3600 Slide in many other countries.  Am I missing something, or is it truly not available on the Hong Kong version for some reason?
It's a long shot, but perhaps if others are unhappy with this and reply to this thread, Nokia will take notice and make Maps available for the 3600 Slide in Hong Kong.
    Thanks.

Unfortunately there is no offical instructions we can supply to perform such a task, I can only suggest trying XDA forums for such information.
    I hope this helps. :smileywink:

  • How can I get my iPhone inspected/fixed (in Hong Kong)?

I have just had an extremely unhelpful experience with Apple Store/Support, and am wondering if anyone has tips on how to get my iPhone repaired quicker.  I live in Hong Kong, so this is probably only of interest to community members here.
My iPhone broke down over the weekend.  Half an hour or so ago, I visited the Apple Store in IFC Mall, and discovered it is now a requirement to make an online booking to seek help from the Genius Bar.  Luckily, an available member of staff did try to assist me.  So far so good.  After tinkering with my phone for a while, he concluded that I needed to have my phone inspected and, for that, I would need to make an online booking.  So I went back to my office and tried to book, only to find that "there are no available appointments".  I called the store, and discover that it is only possible to book for today and tomorrow.  The person on the phone tells me that I can try to book again later.  Bear in mind it is only 10am-ish here in Hong Kong, and bookings for the next 48 (working) hours are already full.  I do not want to risk waiting till tomorrow and discovering that, again, bookings are full.  The guy suggests that I try another store.  I am not keen as I work literally upstairs from the IFC Mall store and the others are far less convenient.  Reluctantly, I try to book elsewhere, but there are also no available appoitments at the other 2 Apple Stores either.  There are a small number of authorised support service providers dotted around Hong Kong, but none are terribly convenient, plus I prefer to do this via the Apple Store if at all possible - and preferably downstairs at the IFC Mall store so that drop-off and eventual pick-up can be easily done while at work.
Is it just me or is this system very consumer-unfriendly?  I asked to speak to a manager at the IFC Mall store to ask if I could just drop my phone off for an inspection, and I was told (a) there isn't a manager in-store and (b) I could leave my name and number and a manager will call me back "in 48 hours".  Meanwhile, my phone does not work at all, yet all I need to do is to drop off my phone for an inspection (I don't even need anyone to look at it).  I have no idea if this is how the Genius Bar works in the rest of the world so maybe my expectations are too high.
Anyway, does anyone have any ideas on how I can get some help from Apple on this?

I'm pleased to report after a bit of persuasion, a second visit to the IFC Mall store this afternoon got me an ad hoc appointment at the Genius Bar so my phone is off for a repair now.

  • What is the model number of the unlocked iPhone 5s sold in hong kong?

Under apple's tech spec section they show 4 model numbers for Hong Kong but don't indicate which one is the unlocked version - the way they show data is very confusing - even if you put the phone in your shopping cart it shows a different "part number" than the model numbers shown for hong kong. I'm trying to compare bands and frequencies as I live in mainland China, and will be headed back to the US to live in about a year.

Thanks, but still I need to know what is the model number (written on the Back)  of the unlock iphone 5S that sold in UK?
