WHy SAP PI Needs different server then R/3

I am new to SAP PI. I have following queries:-
1. Why cannot we install sap pi so same server as that of sap r/3.
2. What are the server requirements for installation of SAP PI 7.4 dual stack.
request gurus to put some light on these two queries.
Thanks in advance

Hi Nav,
1. Why cannot we install sap pi so same server as that of sap r/3.
From Personal experience - SAP PI is a integration server.
If they need to take down your r/3 system box and your entire integration goes down. All communication
We also might open ports and IP's for the integration box that you might want open on the r/3 box.
You have more control and up time if your are on 2 servers.
Those were just from experience and i know SAP recommends that you have 2 servers and not 1 for both.
2. What are the server requirements for installation of SAP PI 7.4 dual stack.

  • Ctxsrv on a different server then the database?

    Hi,
I have a table with a column containing a full file path to
documents stored out on the server. This column has a text index
    on it with datastore=BFILE
Now the customer wants to move the database to a dedicated db-
server, and the problem is that from this server it would not be
possible to see the documents referred to from the indexed
    column.
I had an idea to keep the ctxsrv-process running on the original
server ( where all documnts are accessible ) and log on to the
    database over Sql*Net.
I managed to set this up but when I try to index documents I end
up with a lot of "DRG-11513: unable to open or write to file"
Is this setup impossible?, any ideas on how to deal with this
    problem?
    regards /Curt

    Hi,
ctxsrv is for further releases not longer supported and you have
to use ctx_ddl.sync and this has to run on the database site.
So if you are not allowed to map the filesystem then
I think the nicest method is to use URL_DATASTORE and got the
files via a weblistener from your 'file store server'.
    Cheers
    Thomas

  • [solved pacman4 & paccheck] pacman grabed md5's form different server

Now GPG signed packages are the way to go, but what if pacman would grab the md5 hashes from a different server then the one it got the package from
This thought is based on the assumption that if a package mirror got owned the attacker could upload a trojaned package along with a new hash. If pacman got the hash form a different server then it would also be providing security along with integrity checking.
I am also assuming that this would be an easy thing to make pacman do.

  • Why do we install Solution Manager on Different Server

    Hi Everybody,
Please if anybody can help in clearing the doubt that why it is advisable to install Solution Manager on Different Server.
    Thanks in advance!!
    Pawan

    Thanks Juan. Got the answer.
Infact i was reading somewhere and got these points -
SAP Solution Manager is designed to run in a central u2018monitoringu2019 system at the customer site where all other SAP systems and mySAP solutions (satellite systems) are connected:
u2022 The entire Solution Landscape can be documented (u2018living documentu2019) in a central system (in fact several Solution Landscapes can be managed)
u2022 SAP and Non-SAP Systems can be modeled
u2022 All core business processes can be graphically assigned to all available productive systems in a solution landscape
u2022 All connected SAP systems can be monitored by the central SAP Solution Manager system
u2022 Satellite systems submit data via RFC / agents into the central system
u2022 The system with the SAP Solution Manager installed has a connection to SAPNet R/3 Frontend and the SAP Service Marketplace to communicate with SAP Support Back Office
The SAP Solution Manager serves as a platform that includes several features in one application. The strength of the SAP Solution Manager is the strong integration into the mySAP.com Solution and the optimal knowledge transfer SAP-Partner-Customer including central monitoring features, mainly focusing on core business processes. However, additional features and tools (Support Desk, SAP Note Assistant, MS NetMeeting,u2026) that are integrated in the SAP Solution Manager, also play important roles within a customeru2019s solution management.
It is important to understand that it is not necessary or useful to always have all integrated SAP Solution Manager components installed on one system. For example it is possible to install the SAP Solution Manager on one system and connect to another System where the Support Desk is installed. The SAP Solution Manager then only serves as a portal to jump to the included Support Desk system without notice.
If the customeru2018s main focus is the management of core business processes through service roadmaps and monitoring via SAP EarlyWatch Alert, Service Level Management (reporting) and so on, SAP recommends the SAP Web Application Server as the best choice for the SAP Solution Manager installation as it is also the platform for the SAP Solution Architect and has fairly small hardware requirements.

  • Can I make another website using iWeb,then publish it to a different server through the SMTP panel on iWeb

Can I make another website using iWeb, and then publish it to a different server through the SMTP panel on iWeb, even though I have a website published on mobile me, can I just use the SMTP engine to publish a different site but to a different server, that's the question I'm asking. I'm hoping for a quick reply. Thank you for your time in reading this.

Yes.  You can do it one of two ways:
1 - select FTP Server in the Publish To menu (click on the site folder to get to the options) and enter the FTP address, username and password and publish as you would if using MMe.
2 - select Publish to Folder and publish. Use a 3rd party FTP client like  Cyberduck to upload the site files to there server using the FTP address, etc.

  • Why do we use RMAN DUPLICATE for cloning DB on a different server ?

    DB version : 11.2.0.2, 10.2.0.5
I want to create a clone of my Production DB in a test server. In the past, I have taken hot backup of this production DB and restored and recovered it in a different server using plain RMAN commands.
After restoring the control file , mounting the DB and cataloging the backup pieces in the test server , I run
    run {
    restore database ;
    recover database until time <time> ;
    alter database open resetlogs ;
}In OTN , i came across long running discussions like
    RMAN duplicate database
where they are trying to restore and recover using DUPLICATE command as shown below.
    run
    duplicate target database to RBS
    nofilenamecheck
    pfile=/tmp/aux.ora;
Can't they just use plain RMAN restore and recover commands as I did ? What advantage does RMAN DUPLICATE have over the plain commands ?

RMAN DUPLICATE is designed to give to clone database a new database name and new database identifier:
    >
If you copy a database with operating system utilities instead of the DUPLICATE command, then the DBID of the copied database remains the same as the original database. To register the copy database in the same recovery catalog with the original, you must change the DBID with the DBNEWID utility (see Oracle Database Utilities). In contrast, the DUPLICATE command automatically assigns the duplicate database a different DBID so that it can be registered in the same recovery catalog as the source database.

  • Need a document about how to move the fact and dimension table's to different server's

    Hello Experts,
I need a detailed doc on how to move the fact and dimension tables to different server's.Please help me out from this
           Thanks in advance....

You still haven't told anyone what products besides Essbase you are using, without which this is an impossible question to answer.
    https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2585515
    https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2585171
Are you connecting to these tables from Essbase with a load rule / ODBC?  Using Studio?  Using Integration Services?  Any Drill-Through reporting set up?
This may sound harsh, but if you truly don't know how to answer any of these questions you should probably not be anywhere near this task...

    1. Can you please suggest why do we need to restart teh XI Server ?
It is not done on the frequent basis until you fae some problems like file adapter not appearing in the adapter configuration.....none of the adaters are present in ID (EX)
it will only start the servicess or other things which were hanging or not responding state.....
    2. In what way it will be helpful for us ?
ot moght e helpfull some times but not always...it depends on the probelm you are facing...lot of problems can be solved without restarting the server
    3. Will it clear any locks ? or any dump files ?
       Not sure
    4. Is it recommended to star t and stop the sever ?
Not recomded to do it frequenlty without any valid reason (until you apply some patches etc)

  • Why do we need to have a observer run on the different computer

    Hello team,
Why do we need to have a observer run on the different computer and how to install & confgure it on that different computer.?pls help
    5.5.6 Managing the Observer
The observer is integrated in the DGMGRL client-side component and runs on a different computer from the primary or standby databases and from the computer where you manage the broker configuration. The observer continuously monitors the fast-start failover environment to ensure the primary database is available (described in Section 5.5.2.1). The observer's main purpose is to enhance high availability and lights out computing by reducing the human intervention required by the manual failover process that can add minutes or hours to downtime.
    Thanks

    Thanks Aman,
Do we need a same db binary & OS version for starting the observer on the different computer ?? here the primary & standby are liunx.
    Thanks in advance..
Regards,it does not have to be on the same platform or operating system on which the databases reside, and it does not need Oracle EE and an instance (which means no extra license).
    To configure check this.

  • Terminal Server Session Management: why do we need a rdp session to take control of a terminal session?

    Hi all,
As title, I have this question: why do we need a rdp session to take remote control of a terminal server session?
I copied tsadmin and related file to a windows 8.1 pc and I'm able to see for every terminal server the list of users logged in, but the option "take control" is greyed out... why? is not possible to avoid this block?
    Thanks in advance
    Davide

    Hello, Davide_ita.
Also tried to use RDSM to "Remote Control" user's sessions, but in this thread
    Remote Control
with Remote Desktop Services Manager - error Access is denied (Windows Server 2012 R2)
I get the recommendation to use RDP or Remote Assistance.
    The quote of
    TP []:
    Hi,
You cannot remote control a session on a 2012 R2 RDSH server using Remote Desktop Services Manager.  You need to use the RDP 8.1 mstsc.exe or the RDS gui in Server Manager on 2012 R2.  The command you would use with the RDP 8.1 client would be
    this:
    mstsc /shadow:<sessionid> /control
    -TP

  • WT SynchManager instl. on a different Server other than SAP/SQL Server.

    Hi,
Is it possible to move/install WebTools SynchManager on a different server other than the SAP/SQL Server? Please let us know.
    Note:
    1. We are aware of the recommendation:  u201CInstall the SynchManager on the SAP Business One server on which the DI API is installedu201D in the "Business One Web Tools SynchManager Guide.pdf".
    2. But, SAP/SQL Server at our Client is starving of RAM due to a high number of windows services/application trying to run at the same time (although the maximum amount of RAM possible under the current configuration is installed (4GB)).
    3. So, we are evaluating as to which of these application (WebTools being one of them) can be moved to a different server.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Kafil Shumon.

    Hi Kafil,
You can put the synchmanager on a different server as  long as the DI API is installed and that server can access the B1 licensing server.

  • What is an iTunes Server? Why do I need it?

Now I'm far from being phased by techno babble and always happy to dabble with Apps and such like....
But I have a NAS (Linkstation) that I am reliably informed has iTunes Server Capability....Great...
But what is an iTunes Server?
    Why do I need it?
I have a vast selection of Movies and Music stored on the NAS in a variety of folders, it is DLNA compliant so I happily share these with my PS3 and map those folders on my Windows 7 PC.
iTunes runs on my Windows laptop which is used to sync my iPad and iPhone....
So where does the server functionality sit within this enviroment?

Most likely you have a bad sim card.  I recently had a similar experience and had to go to my local AT&T store for help.  They put in a new sim card and all works well now.  Good luck.

  • What permission is needed for a login to access the restored database(backup from different server)

what permission is needed for a login to access the restored database(backup from different server)
frequently reach the situation, when vendor restores a database, but he cannot access it unless I remap or add his login to the restored database. What permssion can grant the vendor so that he can but only can access the database he restored, not all other
    databases.

    Hi George,
According to your description, When you move a database from one server that is running SQL Server to another server that is running SQL Server, a mismatch may occur between the security identification numbers (SIDs) of the logins in the master database
and the users in the user database. As other post, you can use the sp_change_users_login stored procedure to map SQL Server logins. Also , you can use the following statement after doing the restore database. It will
fix the mis-mapped SID inside the restored DB.
    ALTER USER <username> WITH LOGIN = <username>
For more information, you can review the following article.

  • Why do I need Flash Media Server

    Hello
My company produces advergames. We have just made a football
quiz that streams all questions and video content (quite small
content). The quiz will be on thousands of websites and will
probably get over 4 million users within a month.
Do I need Flash Streaming Media servcie to help me with this
and can anyone give me any ideas to the problems that may arise
    from streming that much media?
    Many thanks
    Matmijeff

You need a streaming server to do it. FMS is (IMO) the best
choice, but there are two others I know of
    Red5 (
    http://osflash.org/red5) . Red5
is an open source, free (as in beer), java based flash media
server. It's still in beta, but I hear it's shaping up to be a
    pretty solid server.
    Wowza Media Server (
    http://www.wowzamedia.com)
also has a java based flash server in beta, and the beta program is
open to the public. The projected prices (on their site) put the
price at about half that of FMS.
Just curious, how many people do you need to serve at once?
If it's 10 or less, you can use the free FMS developer
    license.
