Why Saving takes so long?

I'm working with a document having 4 art boards, no 3D stuff and I'm pretty sure nothing that could benefit from being "expanded."
Basically: shapes, colors, 4 gradients, maybe half a dozen not-huge images. Not huge = 1000px by 1500px, scaled down as needed.
Dunno whether they are the culprits, but my sense is that my document ought not take SO long to save as it's taking.
what are the other villains I should be looking for?
thank you.
EDIT: I found the culprit: text I'd set in InDesigned, then copied and pasted FPO into Illustrator...as so often happens, each letter was it's own text block and some of the text had to be outlined for reasons Illustrator knows.

  • I don't know why it takes too long time to sample flat file.

I don't know why it takes too long time to sample flat file.
    OWB Client 10.1
While importing a flat file of fixed width ,
in the screen "Flat File Sample Wizard" shows the text box number of rows with default value 200.
I want to extend this value to 700,000.
But, it takes too long time (over 5 hours) to sample it.
Do you know why it is happend? or How can i fix this problem?
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    JWS.

    Hello,
Actually flat file sampling process’ goal is to capture the structure of the file. That’s why initially the sample size is set to 200 lines.
The question is why you are trying to perform sampling by 700000 rows? Are you expecting some change in structure beyond this mark?
If so, and you want to capture the fact that your source file is multi – typed, your better prepare small file for sampling outside the OWB.

  • A Reason Why It takes Sooooo long to encode audio in iDVD?.............

I have just been searching for an answer to my encoding (Application Not Responding) finder notice and I see that Apple say do not worry, just ignore it - it will finish the process.
My Movie is being burnt on an Intel 1.8 Core Duo.
    It is 13 Minutes long
It has 13 mins of supporting sound track and sound fx from within iMovie HD
Am I seriously expected to wait overnight for this burn process to complete?!
If so, please explain to me why it should take so long to encode 15 mins worth of audio.
    Dual 2gig   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

It should take you 60 min max. Beyond that there's something wrong.
(I Posted this at other thread)
This is the cause in my case:
During iDVD encoding you can see the little movie icon of "Asset encoding..". Watch if iDVD repeatedly hangs at one same spot of the encoded movie.
IF it does go back to iMovie and carefully review that part, you may find a split-second GLITCH (squares of colors). This glitch may happened during iMovie importing. Remove or reimport that part.
TIP: you can differ if iDVD hangs or crunching slow by using Apple's Activity Monitor. If "CPU" and "Disk Activity" bar-graph are both flat, you can be sure that iDVD indeed hangs. If either graph is active iDVD may be crunching data. Make sure to turn of any other applications, iTune, Safari, etc.
    Good luck

  • Why it takes a long time for my MacBook Air to turn on?

I brought my MacBook Air at a Power Mac Center to fix vertical lines on the screen. The vertical lines were removed. But since then, when I turn on my laptop, it takes a long time before it actually turns on. Sometimes, after pressing the power button, something seems to run at the upper left corner of the keyboard (near the power adapter) but it takes me practically hours before it actually turns on.
And when it is turned on already, I observed some unusual behaviors happening:
    - Sometimes, while it is turned on, the battery status in the menu bar looks operating normally, but after a while, the trackpad will no longer work until the battery status says, "No Battery Available" and "Power source: Power Adapter".
    - Sometimes, several horizontal lines appear on the screen then after a while the laptop will hang up.
    - Sometimes, the sound sounds abnormal then after a while the sound no longer operates, and when I check the Sound at the System Preferences, it says, "No input devices found"
    - Several applications do not work anymore, like Calendar, TextEdit, Reminder, Facetime, Preview and others.
Please help me figure out the problem. I cannot use my laptop as regular as before. I can no longer catch up with paper work deadlines because of these problems.

Please, help me. I need an immediate response so I could try to fix the problem because I need to use my laptop right away. Pls help.

  • Why it take so long to start the SAP Web Application Server?

As I read from the doc that starting the SAP Web Application Server will take from 25 to 40 minutes, I don't believe. But as I try it on my machine, it does take really so long. Isn't it a wonder?
I am used to work with Tomcat, JBoss, BEA etc. None of them will take so long.

    Hi Chen,
In a WAS I assume that it has dual stack (ABAP + JAVA)
For the startup of a ABAP Stack it generally takes about 2 minutes or so.
And for the WAS JAVA STACK should take around 8 to 15 minutes depending on the application, services and hardware sizing.
The reason for the long time required for a WAS Java Stackis:
JAVA Stack depends on three diffrent components: a) dispatcher(java) b)SDM c) Server0 process.
Now before the execution of all these the first thing what happens is the initializastion of jcontrol which inturn initiates the java bootstrap process.
At this moment of time the JVM environment takes some time for the loading and memory management. Once the JVM is loaded successfully then only the three compnents (SDM, dispatcher and server0) are initiated to run.
The SDM and dispatcher do started up with a couple of services and hence require not toomuch of time.
But the main component i.e Server0 process consumes a lot of time to startup at it requires many of the Java stack services to start before it reaches running state.
Again the port configuration for HTTP for SDM , dispatcher , server0 and java process also takes place.
So this was an overview for the Time required for a WAS Stack to come up in operational condition.
Apart from this , seeing specifically to your scenario, wherein it takes 25 - 40 minutes could be an issue with the Hardaware sizing of the Server and the Sofware compnents / tools loaded. We might need to analyze it in more detail to get a clear picture.
    I hope this helps you!

  • WHY MAIL TAKES SO LONG TO DOWNLOAD ATTACHMENTS???

I'm using Mail 2.0.7 program to handle my mac.com mail account. It takes ages to download attatchments, while if I open a message from mac.com web page or other mail programs the download is perfect.... any idea why this happens? how can I solve this?
    PowerbookG4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

How long does "it takes ages" include?
Accessing messages via webmail access using a web browser and with an email client are different entirely and not comparable.
Assuming you are accessing your .Mac account as a .Mac type account in Mail (which is really an IMAP type account and behaves in the same way), did you create your .Mac account as an IMAP type or a POP type account with the other email clients or mail programs?

  • Why movies take so long to download

We have an Apple TV that never allow us to enjoy a movie right away when we rent or buy.  It always shows a message saying that it will take 20 hours to be ready to watch.  This is very frustrating!  I'm sure somebody has either experienced this problem, has a better configuration or internet connection.  Anyway.  I'm lost and any advice is welcomed.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.

    When logging into:

Rapport seems to hang the whole browser. This has only been a problem since you upgraded me to 17.0.1. Have just tried the same operation with Rapport running on IE8 and no problem, from hitting go to being in - 12 seconds and use of the browser. When can we expect a fix?

  • Why does logging in after my session was locked take so long?

    Hi all..
Now that all of my accounts are hooked in via the Open Directory master stuff on our new server, I find that once the screensaver kicks in and locks that unlocking it takes a considerable amount of time.. When I put my password in, I get a spinning cursor thing and it says something like "checking credentials" and will sit there for 20+ seconds before letting me in.. Any ideas why it takes so long when all the info it needs is right there on the server? This server is not part of some larger server infrastructure, so it should not need to talk to anyone else to verify information,etc.. Any ideas?

Not sure why it was taking so long but after reinstalling SLS, the problem disappeared.

  • Why does it take so long to sync my music to my iphone 5s

    Hello All
I have an iPhone 5s with 16 gigs. I use a PC with Windows 7 home Premium. All software (iTunes) and operating systems are at the latest versions, I update whenever prompted. My problem is it takes FOREVER to sync music with my iPhone. One song can take 15 to 30 minutes or more. I dig out an old iPod nano and that synched the music in no time at all. I am at a loss as to why this takes so long. Can anyone help me?

I have this aggravating issue as well, only I just have an iPhone 4s 16GB (yes, STILL!).  One of the (many) reasons I haven't upgraded is the deteriorating performance factors induced by Apple.  If it takes forever to sync just a 16GB iPhone, syncing a 64GB or 128GB iPhone must be an all day test of aggravation!  Since I'm finding no credible or relevant answers here I thought I'd post my observations.  When I watch the sync process, I can see that the procedure backs up my iPhone data, removes it from the phone, then reinstalls it again with any updates to the data since the last sync.  This is a programming "feature".  I don't know what the reasons are for not designing the sync process to handle only changed data as in any other data backup process.  Maybe it's laziness at Apple, maybe it's a technical issue that their programmers are incapable of solving, or maybe there's a monitoring aspect involved that this method allows Apple to collect information on users more effectively.  I just don't know their reasons for this, or many baffling things they do.  I do know that if their corporate data backups were performed in the same manner in which the iPhone sync is performed, there would never be a break in the backup processes at Apple, nor would the process ever complete.  It's ludicrous to program the SW (iTunes) run this inefficiently.  I can't fathom having a larger capacity iPhone and dealing with the constant aggravation of what must be hours to sync simple data changes caused only by the poor routine programmed into iTunes.  From what I can see, it's basically like loading a blank phone every time I want to sync data.  Completely ridiculous as far as I can tell.  Even if the reasoning is to remove dead sectors, blank sectors etc, I'd think with all the money Apple has and makes on a quarterly basis, they could afford to spend the time and money in R&D to make the sync process a **** of lot more tolerable for users.

  • Why ipad 2 / iphone 3g resetting takes too long?

Im trying to reset and delete all content of my ipad and iphone 3g by choosing the selections about resetting on the general. Why it takes too long to reset my ipad / iphone 3g? It is almost 2 days my ipad are on the apple logo / looping circle appears on it and still im waiting for my ipad / iphone 3g to return to main screen.  What will i do? Thanks...

There is no other way except to restore the iPad - plain and simple. You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad.
You will need to use recovery mode
