Why ship Google Chrome with security updates to Flash Player

I do not want it, I will not install it, it wastes time downloading. Stop sending it to me.

I remember the European Competition authorities made a judgement against Microsoft for only shipping Internet Explorer with Windows. How can you only ship the Chrome option with Adobe updates, why do you not give users the option to download other browsers?

I understand.  If you remember in the future, please uncheck the "opt out" checkbox before initiating the installer download.  http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-4836417-253139/450-316/11-9-20 126-31-29PM.png

  • Security update for flash player....did it install?

    Yesterday on dec 16, I had a window pop up on my comp telling me that there is some security update for flash player so I clicked install and it was connecting and everything...then I allowed Adobe systems incorportated permission and all that stuff which was normal....then the adobe helper stopped working and I got a message saying that it will have to close the program......now I don't know...did the updates install or not...what were the security updates so I can check...any advice?

    Hi, well DLM is Download Manager and sometimes it is used to D/L FP. It is supposed to disconnect after FP is downloaded. Go to Add/Remove, you should see Flash Player 10 ActiveX listed. If the Adobe Download Manager or DLM is listed Remove it from there and reboot. It is not supposed to be there after it serves it purpose.
    The version is 10.0.42.34, I hope you just made a typo:-)
    Also, if you are using IE, go to Tools>Manage add ons and look to see if you have listed Shockwave Flash Object......
    ActiveX......Flash10d.ocx and that it is Enabled.  Be sure to check in "currently loaded" and "have been used".
    In Firefox you would look in extenstions, add ons or plug-ins, look for SWF.
    In order for FP to operate properly, you need the ActiveX in IE and the SWF plug-in in FF.
    Thanks

  • Why am I reminded daily to update Adobe Flash Player. Do I need it and why?

    I do not know of which use is Adobe Flash Player? I am reminded daily to update to avoid problems with Firefox.
    I do not look movies or play games in the internet.
    When starting to update Adobe Flash Player, I get afraid by the accompanying questions for private data.
    Tell me what happens when I do not update Adobe Flash Player.
    Regards Gerhard

    It is recommended to update it as the latest version as it includes security updates. A lot of sites use Flash to display their content, it is not just used for movies and games.
    You can carry on using your current version of Flash, just be aware that it has published security holes.

  • Why is Google chrome installated when updating Flash?

    I think users can decide for themselves which browser they prefer to use.  We do not need Adobe to automatically install Google Chrome when updating Flash.  While there is an option to uncheck if you install from the Website, there is no choice when updating.
    We don't need this Big Brother, we know best attitude.

    I NEVER use the "updater" because I already have all the software I want and need. Use the "offline" FULL installers:
    Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
    Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
    NOTHING in those but Flash Player.

  • Flash Player is pre-installed in Google Chrome, but not enabled. Flash Player is not there among the plug-ins.

    Flash Player is pre-installed in Google Chrome (Windows7), but not enabled and it is also not there among the list of plug-ins.

    As we don't have any control over the installation process on Chrome, you'd need to seek help in the Chrome forums.
    That said, this seems very odd.
    Type the following in the address bar:
    chrome://plugins/
    Click Details and expand the list.
    Scroll down, and you should be able to find Adobe Flash Player in the list.
    If it's not there, I'd remove Chrome and just download it again from Google.
    Also, do you have any security or privacy software (maybe from a not-so-mainstream vendor?) that might helpfully remove Flash Player for you?

  • Issue with installing updated adobe flash player to my macbook pro

    I have been attempting to update the adobe flash player on my macbook pro for some time now with no success. The installation gets to over 90% complete before a message popping up saying to close safari--which, but this doesn't help. I have read several other similar issues but am yet to find a suggestion that works.
    any ideas?
    thank you

    1. System Preferences > Security
        Select App store & identified developers
    2. Uninstall Adobe Flash Player:
        http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html
    3. Reinstall Adobe Flash Player.
        http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
    4.  Allow  Plug-ins
        Safari > Preferences > Security
        Internet Plug-ins >  "Allow  plug-ins"
        Enable it.

  • How is one to safely deal with the "Update Adobe Flash Player" Pop-Up?

    Good computer security practice would be to *not* click on anything in the unexpected pop-up, but instead close that window and then either:
    Go to the Adobe site and download the "Update" from there -- but the site never offers "updates", it just offers downloads of the product.
    Open the cited application on one's computer and use its "update" process -- but I can never find the most recent Adobe Flash Player application on my Mac.  I've used Adobe's Update process multiple times in the past and the result is multiple old versions of Adobe Flash Player scattered around, but the latest version which the Adobe Flash Player test site at URL:  http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/   says that I have is nowhere to be found.  Right now, running that test on my Mac results in the feedback:  "You have version 11,0,1,152 installed"
    If one does click on the "INSTALL" button in the pop-up, is the Adobe "update" process which is to run supposed to just add another "new" version of Adobe Flash Player (in some non-intuitive place), or is it also to remove the older versions, or at least the most recent older version, of Adobe Flash Player?
    Is there some predictable default location where Adobe Flash Player should be installed on Mac OS X?

    The download does EXACTLY what the "update" does... it downloads the full new version (about 3.6mb) and OVERWRITES the older version.
    In your Library/Application Support/Adobe folder (I forget just exactly where) the plug-in installs for your installed browsers.  The updater overwrites the files there.

  • Regarding security update for Flash Player 9 (Flash Player 9,0,124,0)

    We are facing issue in STOMP client because of newly
    implemented restriction on flash player.(
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/flash_player9_security_update.html).
    Because of this, Our STOMP client is not able to get messages
    from activemq.
    We have tried to add socket meta files as discussed in others
    article but we were not able to get solutions.
    We have done below stuffs.
    1) Added LoadPolicy code in stompclient for getting
    policyfile from server running on 80 port.
    2) Also set xmlSocket as load policy to get connection from
    stompclient to Activemq.
    1) PolicyFile.xml(loading this also in STOMPClient.swf)
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM
    "/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
    <!-- Policy file for xmlsocket://socks.example.com -->
    <cross-domain-policy>
    <!-- This is a master-policy file -->
    <site-control
    permitted-cross-domain-policies="master-only"/>
    <!-- Instead of setting to-ports="*",
    administrators can use ranges and commas -->
    <!-- This will allow access to ports 123, 456, 457, and
    458 -->
    <allow-access-from domain="*" to-ports="*" />
    </cross-domain-policy>

    Hi doctor.saddam,
    If your MacBook Pro is shutting down unexpectedly, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
    OS X: When your computer spontaneously restarts or displays "Your computer restarted because of a problem." - Apple Support
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
