Why Software Updater does not install some updates automatically?

QuestionWhy Software Updater does not install some updates automatically?
AnswerSoftware Updater only installs security-related updates automatically. Non-security-related updates, and service packs installation are required to be initiated manually via the Software updates tab under the Policy Manager Console.
In Policy Manager 12, a checkbox Show non-security-related updates has been introduced under the Policy Manager Console > Software tab. Unchecking the checkbox hides the following update types:
Microsoft security tools
Non-security updates
Service packs
Note: This checkbox is Policy Manager Console-specific setting. If you change the setting in one Policy Manager Console, it would not affect another Policy Manager Console connected to the same Policy Manager Server.

Presumably FOTA not an option for your 5800XM?

  • Help - Logic 8.0.2 update does not install

The Logic 8.0.2 Update does not install on my machine. The installer goes through the motions very quickly and my Logic Pro app still indicates version 8.0.1. Logic node, Waveburner, etc. all seem to have updated to the .2 version. After not taking with Software Update, I downloaded the updater and that didn't work as well. I have also tried trashing the appropriate Receipt packages (though there was no Logic 8.0.2 receipt). Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks for your help, Erik. I just got off the phone with Apple support and the solution was dumber than dumb: somewhere along the line Logic Pro was renamed "Logic Pro 8" to distinguish it from ver. 7 still on my system. Renamed it "Logic Pro" and voila, the installer recognizes it!

I have PIXMA MG5320  and I am running Win 8. Software cd does not install. I want to scan, but having trouble.
I insert USB stick into USB port on the printer.
I select SCAn and then select USB.  I select  " <i>" key. I do not find any data on the USB stick.
    What gives?
I cannot install the software  on Windows 8

    Hi jvandal,
The CD that came with the PIXMA MG5320 does not include Windows 8 drivers and softare, so you would have to download the drivers and software from our website.  Use the following steps to download the drivers and software:
Go to Canon's Support & Drivers website at:
    http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer
Enter your model name into the Model Name field, then click GO.
Select your operating system in the Select Operating System and Select OS Version dropdown lists, respectively.
Expand the Drivers section by clicking the red triangle.
Click on the file named MG5300 Mini Master Setup.
After reading the details and disclaimer, click 'I Agree Begin Download' and save the file to your computer.
Once the download is complete, double-click the file from its download location to begin the installation.
Once complete, click the I Decline Go Back to return to the download page.
Expand the Software section by clicking the red triangle.
Click on the file named MP Navigator EX Ver 5.0.0.
After reading the details and disclaimer, click 'I Agree Begin Download' and save the file to your computer.
Once the download is complete, double-click the file from its download location to begin the installation.

  • Droid X2 2.3.4 OTA update does NOT install on my phone

    Hello,
Today, when I checked for software updates in the settings page of my Motorola Droid X2, it said the 1.3.380.en.US is ready to be applied. I downloaded it and clicked on install once download finished.
The phone reboots, shows the logo and the progress bar for installing the update and then shows an exclamatory mark. The progress bar also stops. Then the stupid phone reboots and when I unlock it, it says the update has failed.
This is unacceptable from a smartphone and I am already **bleep**. Firstly, the phone has 10's of issues (music stutters, etc.) and many people complained about it. And Motorola releases this update that is supposed to fix those issues. And now, the update does NOT even install. Why? Please let me know what I am doing wrong. Or is anyone else facing this issue? Do I have a bad phone and should I replace it?
    Please help!
A very very frustrated Droid X2 owner.

I can't speak specifically to the DX2, as I have the original DX ... I assume you've tried a Battery Pull ??  Just power it down, remove the battery and leave it out for like 1 minute - reinsert & power up. See if it proceeds with the update ... if not, you'll likely have to do the factory Reset.  If you have data on your SD Card that you want to preserve make sure you don't select "Format SD Card" -- or just remove it entirely before starting the F.R. process.
If you take it to Verizon or call them, they will likely walk you through, or do, the factory Reset anyway .. And since you seem to have "10's" of issues, this might be the best path for you to take anyway ...  and in fact if it were ME, I would just bite the bullet, allow the Format of the SD Card, and be done with it ..  Of course you'll have to re-download all of your FREE apps after doing so.  And if you can't get the phone to boot up, that in itself can be a challenge because Market won't know about them after you do the F.R.
So if you decide to do that, I would go ONLINE to MARKET and write down a list of all your Free Apps before starting the process.
    Good luck ..

  • Lightroom 4.2 update does not install MacPro 10.7.5running LR 4.1

LR 4.2 update downloads and dialog .pkg opens.  Click and Install Icon briefly appears in Dock and dissappears.  No "continue" dialog opens.  Adobe tech took over desktop X2 without sucess.  Apple says cannot help.  Tried uninstalling LR 4.1, Tried in Safe Mode, many work arounds did not help.  MacBook with 10.8.2 installed update promply.  LR 4.1 runs just fine, but why can I not install the update?

  • AdbeRdrUpd1001_Tier1.msp Update Does Not Install using Nullsoft

    Hello,
I am attempting to use the Nullsoft Scriptable Install system to install the Adobe® Reader® 10.0.1 update on Windows XP SP3.  I determined that the Adobe update will install as expected when I run the msp on a console command line with the following arguments:
    C:\temp\> AdbeRdrUpd1001_Tier1.msp /passive /norestart
However, when I put the same exact command into Nullsoft script, the update does not get applied.  I have a theory that the Tier1 update needs to determine language information from Windows XP and because the Nullsoft script executes in a Windows environment that is not fully initialized, the language information is not available and the update fails.  If you can expand on this or provide any insight please respond to this message.  Any help with this question would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, Jeff

  • Cannot install iTunes 10.7 on Windows 7. Getting "a program required for this install could not be run"--Apple Software Update is not installed, so updating it is not a possible solution.

I was following the process of unistalling all Apple software and reinstalling iTunes. But I am getting an error that says "a program required for this install could not be run."
Other threads recommend updating the Apple Software Update module, but that was uninstalled. So if it's part of the problem, updating it is not a solution.
    Windows 7, 64-bit, SP 1 installed.

For what it's worth, at the point the installation fails, Bonjour, Apple Application Support, and Apple Mobile Device Support all show as installed on Control Panel. Apple Software Update has a link on the Start Menu but does NOT show as installed on Control Panel. Is there a way to install this separately from iTunes?

  • Java Update does not install latest build

Kind of an odd bug I suppose: Java Update only installs up to build 6, even though build 7 is listed on the site. It's possible that the latest build hasn't been placed on the update servers yet, though personally I think there's a problem with Java update itself. It doesn't seem to need to sequentially install the builds either (though, what developer does that anymore?) as after updating to build 6, Java Update stated that it was the latest version.

A month is too long to have failed updates, ellencav. I know you mentioned you have a Samsung Galaxy 3. Can you clarify if you have the Note 3 or galaxy S 3? Was a warranty replacement offered through Verizon tech support? This way, as long as you met the terms of the warranty, a replacement would be shipped to you and the defective device would be shipped back.

  • New update does not install at all , but keeps coming up

four times your update comes up. I hit the update button and then
this stripped line in a slender box saying it is trying to connect with the server comes on and stays on forever. nothing happens so I shut it off. it is now bugging me stop send me a update taht does not work

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    *Firefox 9.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

  • Update does not install, daily.

A month of "your update failed to install' messages interrupting daily use of my phone, I spent 5 hours today trying to fix a Samsung Galaxy 3. Fifty Five minutes at Verizon store and they put me on the phone with Verizon who then called Samsung. Samsung said that I needed to go see the Best Buy Samsung specialist. Got in the car, drove 30 minutes to Best Buy to be told the Samsung specialist just left for his hour long lunch break (I get 20 minutes - must be nice). I returned to be told that my device was reading it had a 'custom' root and that the warranty had been voided. When I said that I had no idea how anything could have been changed on my phone, they sent me back to Verizon saying they did it. In the car again then back in line at Verizon. Verizon said they did not and got on the phone again. Samsung said I need to mail them the phone, being without one for two weeks, and that there tech support (one that has better skills or equipment than the tech support they made me drive to?)  would then look at my phone. If I had done something to void the warrenty their tech support would call me to tell me how much money I would need to spend in order to have updates download correctly.  Five hours - no repair and the only offer for help was to hold my phone, that is still under warranty, held hostage.  I am appalled and livid.
