Why some songs have no genius recommendation

Why is it that some songs (bought through the iTunes store) have no genius recommendations in my iTunes? For example, I bought Jake Bugg's "Jake Bugg" and none of the songs have genius recommendations - surely there must be more people out there who bought this album.
Confused and frustrated.
Thanks

here are a couple of articles from the apple support website that might help out.

  • Why do some songs have more bass?

I have a track and the bass is over powering...............are the low frequencies just a higher decibel when the cd was recorded?
I have subwoofers in my car and some songs have deeper bass as well............is this just reaching a lower frequency or once again just louder?

What view would I use to see if a song has a lot of LOWS?  The spectrail view?
    Yes, you can use that.
You can also use the Frequency Analysis Window.  It's in Window>Frequency Analysis, or you can just hit Alt+z.
You can also use your ears.  If you aren't hearing the lows in your monitoring situation on the computer where you use Audition but you're hearing the lows on a lot of other systems then your monitors are inadequate.

  • How do you get your album's songs to stay together when you put them on your ipod/iphone, when some songs have a ft. artist?

How do you get your album's songs to stay together when you put them on your ipod/iphone, when some songs have a ft. artist?
Even when I try to change the featured artist in my I tunes, it won't stay with my other songs, and I want to be able to listen to my album in the order of the songs that the album has it.

The iTunes/iPod software isn't set up to let you sync songs from more than one libray, but if you manually manage the iPod you can add tracks from multiple computers without removing the existing content. Personnaly I think syncing with a library is a much better way to manage your iPod, so I'd suggest you just copy the stuff you bought at work onto a memory stick, then take it home and import it into your iTunes library there.

  • Check marks, symbols... some songs have them some don't want do they mean

I have purchased a few songs from the iTunes Store, copied some from CDs etc. Some of the songs have check marks some don't, some have this "radio like signal" in front of them some don't. What do these things mean? My real problem is, is that I can copy the songs with the "radio like signal sign" in front of them to my ipod but the others I can't copy or move anywhere, not playlists or on to my ipod. What am I doing incorrectly? Help!

The check boxes have a number of uses: iTunes: Understanding the Symbols Next to Songs
Unchecked songs will be skipped when playing songs from the library or a selection. They will only play when individually clicked on.
Smart Playlists have an option that unchecked songs won't appear.
Unchecked songs will not be burned to CD.
The iPod has an option to only sync checked songs
The Genius & iTunes DJ features will ignore unchecked songs
Basically unchecking is a way of telling iTunes to ignore the item and exclude it from other automatic features.

  • I the cloud and itunes match. Some songs have the "waiting" icon next to them but are unable to upload and instead of determing them ineligible itunes continues to try to upload that song and never gets to the rest of the list.

I have  icloud and itunes match and most of my songs have been uploaded to the cloud. Some songs still have the "waiting" icon next to them and when I turn itunes match on they neither upload nor are they determined ineligible. My computer will literally spin its wheels for hours trying to upload the same song. Additionally, I uploaded an audiobook disc on my computer and 3 of the 11 tracks are still waiting to be uploaded???

The exclamation mark happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .
If the missing files just can't be found then, assuming you are in region where you are permitted multiple downloads of your audio purchases, delete the current enties and download again from your purchased history.

  • Itunes is wrongfully saying some songs have been authorized on more than 5 computers -- please help!

Hi, can someone please help me.  ITunes is saying that some of my songs have been authorized on more than five laptops, which isn't true--it's not letting me play those songs, and I have no way of deauthorizing the accounts on three of my old laptops.  Please help!

If you have any other computers, have ever created alternate iTunes libraries or used iTunes in other user accounts, you might want want to try and deauthorize all. Then you can authorize the computers you are currently using  with iTunes.
    (From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420)
You can use or sync your purchases from the iTunes Store on up to five different  computers (these can be any mix of Macintosh or Windows-compatible  computers). When you sync or play an item you've purchased, your computer is  "authorized" for purchase using your Apple ID.
To deauthorize all computers associated with your Apple ID
If you need to authorize your new computer and are unable due to already having five authorized computers, you can deauthorize all computers by doing the following:
Click iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your Apple ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than two authorized computers. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/).

  • In iTunes some songs have 5 options others have 7.

In iTunes when I right click a song that doesn't have artwork saved to it and click "Get Info" I have the options of "Summary", "Info", "Video", "Sorting", and "Options".  But if the song does have artwork saved I get those five plus "Lyrics" and "Artwork".  How can I add artwork to a song that doesn't have it right now?  I don't want to use the "Get Album Artwork" option because I have other CD's that are already set that I don't want it to mess up.

A tag is where the metadata (data about data) in a song file is stored. The audio content is the main data component, the name, artist, artwork, lyrics etc. are metadata. Not all audio formats support metadata tags, the one that usually causes problems is the .wav format which people may select since it is an uncompressed format. AIFF or Apple Lossless are often better choices when selecting a hi-fidelity format since they also support tags.

  • Why some song are not displayed on my iphone or my ipad?

    hello everyone...
Yesterday i added a music album on my itunes library on my macbook... i went on store-->update itunes match and i supposed to find it on my iphone ( where itunes match is enabled ad well).
But there is not this album at all on my phone, so i created a playlist on my mac with only the album i miss and magically that one is correctly displayed on my iphone and i can even play the song... but if i go to week added no way to see this album...can someone help me out here
    Thanks a lot

update: i forget to say that on the mac's library the album is listed as WEEK ADDED and all the other album of the week are there and are displayed correctly on the iphone.
If i go on music from the iphone and i search the artist i miss i correctly find it...
So the issue is just related to the playlist WEEK ADDED and MONTH ADDED..

  • Some songs on my iPod have "duplicates" that I want to get rid of. I need help getting rid of them.

So I just got my iPod touch 5th gen yesterday and with the new iTunes and ios, it's all really stupid and confusing. Just as I thought I was satisfied with the music on my iPod, I find out that some songs have two versions.
I downloadable songs from both my account and my brother's account. I read the message that I can't do the whole download of past purchases for 90 days and went on since it didn't really seem to effect anything on my 4th gen. Now I have 800+ songs on my iPod and I guess Apple decided to get rid of being able to delete songs right from the device. So I delete all the songs from my iPod, go into iTunes on my computer, sign into my brother's account, and download the songs from there that I wanted. Now I have about 300-400 songs downloaded on my computer in iTunes. I sync all the music to my iPod and now I think I'm satisfied. But when I go to some of the artists, it has one song that's ok to play and then it has the same song that can't be played with the cloud button next to how long the song is.
It's not a big deal, but it really bothers me. How can I get rid of the one that has the cloud next to it. Thanks for the help!

The Cloud by the song indicates that is is an iTunes purchase but it is not downloaded on the iPod. If you only want download iTunes purchases to show in the Music app go to Settings>itunes and pp Store and turn off Show aLL.

  • Why Can't I play some songs ??

I can't understand why some songs are available to play and some are not!? Even songs from the same album?

If the initial scan in iTunes has not finished yet then you can see this behavior on an iOS device. The simplest trouble shooting step is to disable iTM on the iOS device and open the Music app and let the content clear out. Wait for the scan to complete in iTunes then re-enable the service on the iOS device.

  • Songs have disappeared from my library and Ipod.  I have found some in trash but I did not send them there.  Others have completely gone.

Hi - I have discovered that some songs have disappeared from my itunes library and Ipod. I have found some of them in trash even though I did not trash them, as they are some of my all time favourite songs.  I have now restored these trashed songs to my library/ipod.
However I cannot find some other missing songs in trash - so I have no idea where they could be! It makes me feel very insecure about itunes as a whole.  I would prefer music to diamionds - and it disturbs me when music just disappears like that!  An explanation/solution would be gratefully received.  I wonder whether I can ask Apple to pay for the items that have gone for good!

    Andrea,
have you tried to update the Ipod? If not try that, but do not restore it. If you still cannot find the songs, there is - I suppose you are using windows - a nifty little program available from Findley Designs (www.findleydesigns.com) that allows you to transfer Music from your Ipod to your PC. Download it and see if it works with one song, if it does it is about USD 14 to buy and helps if you want to transfer songs from your Ipod to your computer. If you have transferred the music to your computer you can restore your Ipod-
    Good luck
    Thomas

  • Wrong tags for some songs?

I have the 160 gig classic... I love the fact that it can hold so much but some songs have the wrong tag to the....for instance ...I choose Blondie one way or another and the song played will be a Johnny cash song.... You get the gist....
When I play that song song in iTunes on my pc it is correct as in the tag corresponds to the song.....
    Any help would be appreciated.....

Restoring an iPod removes all the data from it, builds a fresh database on the device, then puts back on the content that your request. If the database on the device becomes corrupt then it may index the wrong file for playback and a restore would be the recommended fix. At the very least you should confirm the problem persists after a restore. If so then some more details are likely to be required to pinpoint what is going on, e.g. is the file that plays the next/previous in the song menu for example? Is the one song always replaced by a specific other one and what are the details of both tracks?
If you've selected an album to play, and have more than one album with the same title, then that is best explained by pointing you to http://samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/grouping.asp
There are some tips in there about not using Sort fields to merge albums. It's quite some time now since I explored that behaviour in detail and I can't recall it actually being responsible for the wrong song being played in the way you originally described which is why I recommeded a restore first. If however, you have tried to use the sort fields in this way then perhaps all you need to do is correct the relevant tags in the ways I recommend in the article and re-sync the device.

  • Unable to upgrade some songs to iTunes plus

    Hello -
I've seen some other discussions on this topic so I guess it's not an uncommon problem, but I wanted to ask about it anyway in case there are new insights about how to fix it!
I have about 75 old "Protected AAC" songs - 128 bps DRM-protected songs that I purchased before the iTunes Plus era - and I would like to upgrade at least some of them to iTunes Plus (not necessarily all - in some cases I've subsequently bought the CD, or am no longer interested in the song).   When I sign in to the iTunes Store and go to the 'Upgrade to iTunes Plus' section, however, only 40 of the songs are listed (35 are not).   I've verified that in almost all cases, these songs/albums are still available in iTunes - I think perhaps one or two are no longer available, so I can understand why upgrades are not allowed there, but in the vast majority of cases I don't understand why I can't upgrade.
What's really strange is that there are some albums where some songs are available for upgrade and not others.  To give a specific example, I purchased 7 songs (all "protected AAC") from the album Travelogue by The Human League (only the 7 bonus tracks, since I have the original album).   Now, 4 of these are available for upgrade to iTunes Plus and 3 are not, even though the whole album (including all 7 songs) are still sold through iTunes.
I tried contacting iTunes support and had an e-mail exchange which was slightly helpful but not entirely;  they would never really answer the question and eventually just started repeating the same set of stock paragraphs, leading me to believe that the responses were selected from a menu and were not actually coming from a person trying to solve the problem (maybe I'm wrong about that, I don't know).   Here are the sorts of answers I got:
"The record company remove and then replace some of the songs for their produced albums on the iTunes Store at any time. Since the songs are modified you are not able to see them in the iTunes upgrade page.:
    or
"The record company remove and then replace some of the songs for their produced albums on the iTunes Store at any time. Since the mentioned songs have been removed and then fresh copy has been posted you are not able to see them in the iTunes upgrade page."
However, even if the songs have been removed or replaced, I really don't understand why some songs on a given album can be upgraded and others can't!
iTunes Support did kindly credit my account for 5 songs, but in practice I'd like to upgrade about 20.
Has anyone had success working around this problem, or do you know a route to getting iTunes Support to do more?   Or should I just give up and re-purchase the songs I can't upgrade?
    Thanks!

Thanks very much....makes sense, but some songs I have used in the past no longer work, so something has changed I guess.
