  • Why does my iMac not recognize my iPod nano?

I recently purchased an iPod nano, with the touch screen, for my wife. Obviously she wanted to immediately connect it to our iMac 27" and transfer her music files. But the iMac does not recognize the iPod, whatever we try. It does not turn up in iTunes, the Finder or System report, and it does not charge. The really strange thing is that the computer has no problems with my HTC Wildfire, running Android. It also has no problems with flashdrives, our portable hard drive or printer. Only the iPod. So much for the "Im a mac and I always work.. diddely."
    I have tried the following:
Reset the iPod nano by holding the power button until the grey apple appeares
Restore the iPod nano from a PC running Windows XP (Which had no problems recognizing the device by the way)
Tried to connect with two different cables (Wich again both worked well with on the PC)
Updated iTunes to the newest version
    Ugraded from Snow to Lion
    Reset PRAM, NVRAM and SMC
    Shouting
None of those has made any difference. What should I do next?
    My Mac is a iMac 27", produced in 2009, 3,06 GHz Intel core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 Ram S/N: W80031TH5PE. Running MacOS X 10.7.2
The iPod is a nano, latest generation with the touch screen, Model no: A1366 EMC No: 2385. S/N: DCYFX08WDDW2

Reformatting will wipe out everything you synced to it.  Check out the iPod nano (6th generation) - User Guide  for reformatting instructions and other troubleshooting suggestions if you have not already done so.
Suggest that you do a search through  Knowledge Base

If you are still having problems after doing the above and in view of Apple Stores not replacing and/or charging you for repairs, strongly suggest that you call Apple Customer Relations @ 1-800-767-2775.  Explain to them exactly what you stated in your postings.

  • Nike+ receiver not supported by iPod Nano!?

I've just purchased a pair of Nike+ running shoes together with the receiver and sensor kit for my iPod Nano. I've updated my Nano (which I regularly do) but somehow I get the following message on my display"the currently attached accessory is not supported by this iPod" whenever I plug the brand new receiver into my iPod!?
    iPod Nano

You'll probably get a quicker response if you post in the appropriate Nike + iPod Sport Kit forum for your generation (1st or 2nd generation) of Nano.
    Good luck.

  • Why "Text fames are not supported and were converted to text boxes"

Hi All, I help to my cousin. He wanted to open a Word file what had a header.
This header is a doc file and was written probably with Microsoft Windows by somebody else. All was shifted very right.
Is there anyway set it to see well the Pages?
    Thank for any advise.
    laci

Pages isn't a perfect converter of Word documents. They are differently coded. Some documents opens well but some don't.
You could try opening the document in LibreOffice, a free clone of MS Office.

After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I repeatedly get this message:  "There was a problem connecting to the server.   URLs with the type "file:" are not supported.
    Why?

Open the Time Machine pane in System Preferences. If it shows that Time Machine is ON, click the padlock icon in the lower left corner, if necessary, to unlock it. Scroll to the bottom of the list of backup drives and click Add or Remove Backup Disk. Remove all the disks, then add them back. Quit System Preferences. Test.

  • Why are my fonts are not installing in ox6 it shows as exec?

Why are my fonts are not installing in ox6 it shows as exec?

Are you referring to an icon that looks like a monitor and has the word exec in green on it? If so, that's OS X's way of saying "I have no idea what this file is".
I'm guessing you're trying to use an incompete Type 1 PostScript font. Type 1 PostScript fonts are a set. One file is a suitcase containing all of the low res bitmap screen fonts. The rest are the outline printer fonts. As an example, here's Adobe Garamond.
    Adobe Garamond
    AGarBol
    AGarBolIta
    AGarIta
    AGarReg
    AGarSem
    AGarSemIta
The first file which I highlighted in green is the font suitcase of bitmap screen fonts. The rest are the outline printer fonts.
    1) The files for a Type 1 PostScript font must have both the screen and printer fonts for a given set in order to work. They also must be in the same folder.
    2) The suitcase of bitmap fonts will work alone, but output will be terrible since the system will print the fonts using the 72 dpi screen fonts in the suitcase if the outline portions are missing.
    3) Having only the outline fonts will not work. You can see the fonts, but they will not load. That's not a problem with Font Book, Suitcase or other font manager. None of them, nor the system itself will load outline fonts from a Type 1 PostScript font without the matching suitcase of screen fonts present.

  • Why do iPhones/iPad not support Flash Player/Java and what are my alternatives for browsing sites using these plug-ins?

Why do iPhones/iPad not support Flash Player/Java and what are my alternatives for browsing sites using these plug-ins?

There are also iSwifter, Photon, Skyfire, etc., some only support Flash some support Java and Flash.
Adobe never made a version of Flash for iOS and closed their mobile flash division a couple of years ago. You can get Flash on other personal devices but you will be using a 2 year old version that has not been patched for security vulnerabilities.
When the original iPhone was released Mr. Jobs said it would never run Java as it was old technology and a security risk. Nothing has changed since.

  • Why am I told that fonts are not available when the file was originally created in Fireworks?

I get the "Fonts not available" message when I open up a document, i.e. open up a png document in the program/computer/etc. where the program was created in the first place.
I don't get this. How can the fonts not be available when I'm using the same program that used these fonts originally? Having said that, the appearance doesn't seem to change.

Are the fonts in question installed on your computer?
Fonts are not part of a program, fonts are installed on a system. Once installed, a font is available to any program that uses fonts. If you're opening a document that was made in the same program, but on a different system, using fonts you do not have installed, then you will get that message.
So... Are you opening a document that you created? Are you opening the document on the same system on which the document was created? Have you made any changes to the installed fonts (installed or uninstalled any fonts)?
What version of Fireworks are you using and what OS are you running it on?

    1. Install Adobe Flash Player from Adobe site.
        http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Download it first. Click Safari in the menubar and select “Quit Safari”.
Follow the prompts and install it.
        Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.
    2.  Allow  Plug-ins
        Safari > Preferences > Security
        Internet Plug-ins >  "Allow  plug-ins"
        Enable it.

  • Some web fonts are not rendered

When I visit some sites that use web fonts, the web fonts are not rendered. It does not render with the wrong font - the text is completely invisible.
On other sites, web fonts work just fine, and I cannot understand why some web fonts work and some don't.
    Examples of non-working sites:
http://blog.mailchimp.com/ (headers shown, article text missing)
    https://www.sbab.se/ (huge top header missing)
http://onlinepizza.se/ (headers and button texts missing)
    Examples of working sites:
    http://www.google.com/fonts
    http://www.typetester.org/
On the Network -> Fonts tab in the inspector, no downloads are shown on the broken sites. Is there a font cache that I can delete?
I have tried uninstalling firefox, deleting all profiles and installing it again. Nothing changes.

    Works fine here on Linux.
