Why the background window on Mac?

Why is there a default empty window when you open the app on Mac? All previous versions let you view your desktop if you don't have an open project. Is there a preference setting to get rid of this?

CS6 opens now by default in "Application Frame". You can go Window>Application Frame in the main meny and uncheck this

I can't resize the reply window in Mac Mail

My mail is working fine.
If I write a new email it all looks okay.
If I reply or forward an email the window is so wide it would stretch maybe 3 times the width of my screen, so if I want to use any of the tools in the top right toolbar I have to drag the window across.
I can resize up and down to make the window taller or shorter but I can't make it fit onto my screen widthways.
I have rebooted, hit zoom and now I'm stumped.
Any suggestions?

In Normal screen mode on Mac OS, resize the application window by dragging its lower right corner.
Click the green Zoom button (), located beside the Close and Minimize buttons at the left of the title bar. The application window expands to fill the screen. Click the Zoom button again to return to the previous window size.
Reposition the application window on your screen by dragging the title bar.

When clicking CTRL+Link my new tab opens in the background window, instead of the foreground window I'm using. Is there a way to make this work the way it used to, where the new tab always opens in whatever window I was currently using?

I use a web based software for work. I go to a web page listing all employees as links (Window A). When I click an employee link a new window opens (Window B). Window B contains links, i.e. Add Client, Change Address, Change Phone Number, Change Name, Upload Photo, etc... When I hold CTRL and left click the links in Window B, the new tab opens in Window A. I don't understand why this has changed, as I've been using this method to open new tabs in my current window in both of the previous versions of Firefox.

To give you an example of what I'm speaking, I found this page that recreates the scenario.

2. Click the GO in the center of the box on their page (This creates a pop-up window with links to other programming pages)
3. CTRL+left click any of those links. The page opens in the background/original window, not the pop up window where you are currently working. And, with your solution takes me back to that window and the new tab.

Using CS4 on the Mac when I double click a QuickTime HDV video clip in the project pannel it opens it in a separate window how can I open it in the Footage window?

The CS4 (or CS3) help can be used to search the entire Community, or restrict the search to their own help system.
Just enable the checkmark near the top right of the page (to search "this system only").
Also, there's a link at the top of the help page to download a .pdf version of the help files (for local use).
Having the help files online allows other people to add useful comments, and those who write the help files to update them as needed.
This helps keep them current, and ever-improving.

Why the office windows always on top of others - how to change it back?!!

I'm using mac os x and office 2011.
Since maybe couple weeks ago (maybe after one of the office upgrades?), when I have multiple office windows opened (e.g., multiple word documents, excel, powerpoint), these windows always appear on top of others (e.g., safari, calendar) first!
Here is an example: now i'm using safari, so it's my active window. If I want to go to calendar (which is already opened), when I click the calendar window, all the office windows (which are opened as well) will jump out first!! Then I have to click the calendar again to make it become on top of the office windows. That means, whenever I want to switch to other windows while office windows are opened, I have to click all the other windows twice, because the first time I click on any other type of window, the office windows will jump out no matter what.
This is very annoying after a while. I'm not sure if I explained this clear enough. But how can I change the settings so the office windows can just not always on top of other windows??!!

Yes, I can view/hide the OSK with no problem but the keyboard, itself, changed somehow.

Question Reguarding the new windows compatable Macs

I have been reading a lot about the new windows compatibility on all new Macs. I also researched the software it requires. Is the new software needed to run all of my PC programs, or just anable me to use Windows OS? Does this new technology allow me to use ALL of my Windows software including third party programs like games and other apps?

Parallels is less suitable for playing games due to constraints on 3D graphics.

I've found 'Blackberry Device Manager' running in the background of my Mac? But its been deleted? How do I get rid?

I've just upgraded my MacBook Pro to a new Retina model, and while looking at the activity monitor I've noticed I still have an app running in the background that I thought had been deleted? Its the 'Blackberry Device Manager'? (See photo)
I've tried doing a spotlight search to try and find the program and delete? It's not in my apps list?

That is a LaunchAgent. You will find it in the /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/ or /Library/LaunchAgents/ folder. To delete it you will have to first kill the process in Activity Monitor, then drag the file to the Trash and delete it. If the process reappears, then drag the item to the Trash and restart the computer, after which you can Empty the Trash.
Exposing the /Home/Library/ Folder
Pick one of the following methods:
A. This method will make the folder visible permanently. Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and paste the following at the command prompt:
chflags nohidden ~/Library
Press RETURN.
B. Click on the Desktop, press the OPTION (⌥) button, select Library from the Finder's Go menu.
C. Select Go To Folder from the Finder's Go menu. Paste the following in the path field:
~/Library
Press the Go button.

A blank square appears at the top left corner of my screen after close the preferences window in Mac OS X

Whenever I open the preferences window and close, a blank square of 120px (aprox) appears at the top left corner of the screen. The square doesn't dissapear untill I exit from Firefox and reopen it.

Why the icloud window appears me at the reboot of the system, asking me my system password?

1 - I installed the Mavericks system in my iMac.

2 - I realized that I did not serve the FaceTime and iMessage

4 - Now a window appears asking me my iCloud password every time I turn off and restart or turn on my MAC

ISSUE FINALLY RESOLVED!!!!!!
So, it turns out, I had to restore the iPhone...with a twist! Here are the steps:
FIRST BACK UP YOUR DEVICE
1. Go to the library (Hold option, click on "go" in the finder, then go to library)
2. Go to your iTunes folder in this Library (not application support, the main iTunes folder)
3. Go to the iX software folder (i.e., iPhone software, iPad software, etc.) and delete the file in this folder
4. Hook up the phone and then click on restore iPhone.
At this point, it will redownload the entire OS again. You must then restore the iPhone. As it is downloading the iOS, you can disconnect and use your phone for probably however long you want (I did the restore the same day as the download) and when you are ready you can hook up the phone and restore it.
THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP FOLLOWS:
And one many may dislike. Upon restoring the phone, you MUST select "Set-Up as new iPhone"
You need to make sure you've backed up EVERYTHING elsewhere. 3rd party, non-apple/icloud apps will lose data through this method, and you'll lose all texts, your call history, and super old voicemails. The upside is that, if you've backed up, then you can just restart the process if you forgot something. But seeing as how the popup was interfering with my ability to use iCloud (I couldn't sync anything, such as calendar events, reminders, etc., unless I had gone into mail to sign in to iCloud), it was totally worth it....no more popups.
My only wish is that this thread becomes popular. Many people have this issue and you should only use this method as a super last resort (after trying literally everything I had written previously).

Why the background job for downloading file failed?

I have a background job for downloading file with logical path.
with
'OPEN DATASET l_out_file FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT';
Now, the program can be run in foreground;but when it running on background, it shows 'open file error'.
I do not know what happen?

The logical path you have provided might be incorrect or you might not have the necessary authorization to read/write on that folder.
Please check the folder in transaction AL11 & check whether you have the authorization to read/write. BASIS consultant would be able to tell you about it.

Why the Error Window that Will Not Leave?

I keep getting an error window, usually it occurs whenever I turn on my printer, & sometimes when I turn it off. This window, despite having an "OK" button, never leaves the screen, necessitating my having to move it around, as it gets in the way. It will only leave when I reboot my computer.
The ironic thing is, there is NOTHING WRONG with my printer, the connection, or the function of my printer! The only thing wrong is this rather LARGE, and uninvited error window!
The exact wording is:
Failed to connect to the device
-Check the I/F cable connection between the device & your computer.
-Please turn OFF the device once, and then turn ON the device
Then try again.

and then there's an "OK" button
On the top left is the image of a camera within a shadowy image of what looks like a piece from a jig-saw puzzle...

Can Someone tell me why the background is being cleared

Hello. I have a applet that adds a single panel.
I want this panel to paint some stuff at first and then NOT clear itself when it paints again. I have overridden both repaint and update, but the panel continues to clear itself. Here is a portion of the panel code...

You don't need repaint();
use double buffer to avoid flickering.
search in this forum for _offscreen jef06
paint the first image first and the second after.
use g.setPaintMode();
jvm change only the pixel who has changed.
at the end use
