Why the ipod touch (1st generation) doesn't have new updates ??

i just want to know why the ipod touch (first generation) doesn't have any new updates! all the new itouch have this great features and people with old itouch cant have it! its not fair! thank you!

Your touch has a 400MHz processor and 128MB RAM, the 2nd Gen has a 500MHz processor and 128MB RAM, the 3rd Gen touch has a 600MHz processor and 256MB RAM, and the 4th Gen touch has a 800MHz processor with 256MB RAM... Obviously yours cannot handle the new OS as it was designed primarily with the 3rd and 4th Gens in mind... It's like older computers cannot support newer OS (ie a computer built for windows xp cannot handle windows 7 and a computer built for panther cannot handle leopard.)

You say you have a 1G iPod but the profile says iOS 4.2. A 1G can only go to 3.1.3.

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory. The 4G iPod only has 256 MB

IPod Touch 1st Generation doesn't work directly out of the box?

I just bought a first generation iPod touch and first things first I plug it into my PC. Nothing happens on the iPod and on iTunes I immediately get a message saying "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore it before it is usable with iTunes." So I hit OK and click yes to the message about restoring it to its factory settings, considering that's how it should be anyway since I had literally just taken it out of the box. I finally get a reaction from the iPod, and it's a solid white screen followed by the apple logo, and then for about 5 minutes iTunes says it's "prepaying the iPod for restore..." followed by the error message "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored, an unknown error occured. (1604)" Then the iPod disconnects from iTunes and proceeds to be frozen at the Apple logo screen. I have looked at all the troubleshooting walkthroughs and none of them work because I have never seen a screen on the iPod other than the Apple logo, it seems as though the only way to fix this is if I just take it back and get a replacement

IPod Touch 1st generation doesn't sync notes any more

I have a 1st gen iPod Touch and 2 iPhones (4 and 4S). I use the iPod mainly for the gym, so I write my routines on the notes app. Now that I have updated my Mac to Mountain Lion and notes are out of Mail app, they don't sync. Does anybody know if there is any way to fix it? As iOS 3 doesn't have iCloud it looks imposible because the option to sync it dissappeared from iTunes.

How do I download the SD version of my HD TV show onto my iPod Touch 1st generation?

I bought and downloaded the Pilot episode of the Vampire Diaries. However, I found out afterwards that it can't be synced because the iPod Touch 1st generation does not support HD videos. But I read that when you buy an HD video it comes with a SD version. I can't figure out how to get that SD version to show up or be synced. I went on the Purchased pages and unselected the HD versions, but it says that the SD versions have already been downloaded to the computer. I can't find them and can't find any selections to change the HD to SD. Please help me!!

I found this article that outlines where to go to download your purchases again in iTunes.
The article named says it is for iTunes 10, but the steps will work for iTunes 11 as well.
In iTunes, click iTunes Store (below Store).
Click the Purchased link in the top-right of the Store home page (below Quick Links).
In the page that appears, select a category.
iTunes shows you which of your purchases are available for download. You can view all of your past purchases, or just the ones not currently in your iTunes library. Items already in your library aren’t available for download.
If you select Music, you can view your purchases by song, artist, or album. If you’re using Album view, click an album to see which songs on it are available for downloading.
To search for an item, type its name or a keyword in the search field, and then press the Return key to view your search results.
To download an item, click the Download button to the right of the item.

Once you get to the page for your Movies or TV Shows, there should be a checkbox that says Download HD When Available. Uncheck that, and then download your purchase and that should get you the SD version of your video.

I'm not exactly clear what your question is.
How does the system you have been given not work with your iPod? What is the problem?
What is your point about the 4th generation adaptor? The "adaptor" is merely a physical piece of plastic that sits in the Docking Station's dock and creates the exact shape for your model of iPod to fit snugly into it. So a 1st or 2nd generation iPod would not benefit in any way from a 4th gen adaptor.
Are you trying to find a portable iPod Docking Station that works without mains power?
You said: " the customer service agent said it would make the iPod fit, but it wouldn't charge or play music." What is your point about charging the iPod? I don't understand what you are trying to say. I presume that the system you've been given does charge a 1st and 2nd gen iPod.
The product you linked to looks portable to me. So why does it not suit your needs, is this about using it out in the garden (my question 2)?
Less complicated in what way? What exactly are you finding complicated? Simply place the iPod into the Docking Station and (presumably) select the iPod input and press play.

how long does the average lifespan of the ipod touch 1st generation last? ive had mine since around the time it first came out, i havnt noticed any loss in battery life at all but i was just wondering how long it would take before i would actually have to replace the battery, and if i have to send it in to replace the battery will anything happen to my songs/apps/videos/pictures?

The music is stated by apple to last 22 hours on a full charge for music and 5 hours for movies. The battery efficiency goes down to 80% after about 400 cycles, but your battery could bust at any time, but don't worry about it. It'll be awhile till your battery has to be replaced. If you replace the battery it won't effect any of the content on your iPod as long as it's all on iTunes.
