  • A thin blue line on my iPhone 4S?

    Hi.
    Today I woke up to see a thin blue line on my iPhone 4S screen.
    I did not drop my phone, nor did I even charge it over night. I just left it on.
    The blue line looks like this:
    (I recreated the image, since it doesn't appear if I take a screenshot, meaning this is a screen problem.)
    I have tried restarting my phone, but that hasn't helped. The line appears all the time, no matter if I'm in an app or looking at the home screen.
    I'm not sure how this happened, as it just appeared all of a sudden, but I'm wondering if anyone knows a fix for this?
    My warranty for my phone has run out, unfortunately. =/
    Thanks.

    Did you also try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again?
    You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
    If this does not help,and to rule out a software problem, setting it up as new device would be the next step:
    Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
    If still no luck, the phone needs to be serviced, but since Apple does not offer to replace the screen for an iPhone 4s, you would have to pay the service fee to replace the whole device.

  • Why do I have a thin blue line running down the screen?

    There is a thin blue line running vertically down my imac screen a little to the right of the centre. It disappeared for a while - i think after I tapped a certain key - but then re-appeared and will not go away. What is it? How do I get rid of it? Mark

    Sounds like a problem with the display. Contact your local Apple Store or AASP and make an appointment to have the display looked at. > Apple - Support - iMac - Service FAQ

  • Is there a charge for going on-line using my iPhone?

    Is there a separate one time or recurring charge for going on-line with my iPhone?

    With cellular, yes, as per your data plan with your carrier.
    With home wifi, no additional charge on top of your home broadband cost.
    With public wifi, depends... some are free, some charge by the hour, day , week, etc.

  • Problem T530 (Vertical thin blue line) HELP!

    Hello Folks,
    I just bought my T530 in July/August. I have been loving it so far.
    While I was working on my laptop this morning, a sudden thin blue pixel line showed up (left corner of my screen).
    What should I do?  I have the regular insurance packet that came with it nothing extra...
    I have never shipped back a laptop. How does this process work, and what are my next steps.
    Thank you people.
    I am pretty nervous about this issue. I am a student, and can't afford losing this laptop for a long long time.

  • Vertical thin blue line on LCD

    Is there an easy fix to get rid of this line on my screen? it's about 3 inches in from the left of the edge of the screen, running the full-length top-to-bottom. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

    It seems there has been quite a number of bad runs on the 12" powerbook and ibook screens, my powerbook did'nt have one, but it does now and it is usually a defective lcd panel
    you can find lots of them on ebay for about 40 bucks that were pulled from ibooks. I bought a screen with a line running horizontally about 2in from the bottom to replace my original screen which was shattered. New screens are about 400$ so a little line does'nt bother me as much as not having a computer. That being said, I have seen this problem out there , and it stays with the screen not the computer. Also note the commonly defective model is a Samsung LTN 121S04-A2C2 these were in some ibooks. The powerbook screens are usually Philips LP121X04-C2 and have an inverter cable that is two inches longer, making it dificult to find a replacement unless you do'nt mind cutting and splicing wires.

  • Can you explain why there is an error at the line   *pStart = *pEnd;

    //program should reverse a given string.
    //Original string is "SAW", and the same string reversed should be "WAS"
    #include <stdio.h>
    #import <string.h>
    int main (int argc, const char * argv[]) {
    // insert code here...
    printf("This program reverses a string without blank spaces.\n");
    char *sentenceArray = "SAW";
    char temp;
    char * pStart, *pEnd;
    pStart = sentenceArray;
    int stringLength = strlen(pStart);
    pEnd = (pStart + stringLength -1);
    printf("\nOriginal sentenceString is: %s", pStart);
    printf("\naddress of pStart:%lu, value: %c", pStart, *pStart);//make sure pointer is at the start
    printf("\naddress of pEnd:%lu, value: %c", pEnd, *pEnd);//ensures pointer is at the end
    while (pStart < pEnd)
    temp = *pStart;
    *pStart = *pEnd;//can somebody explain why this is an error? Thank you.
    *pEnd = temp;
    ++pStart;
    --pEnd;
    printf("\nReversed sentenceString is: %s", sentenceArray);
    return 0;
    //Thank you for your assistance!

    To expand on Keith's answer a bit:
    The problem, as you know, is with this line:
    *pStart = *pEnd;
    So, let's break this down a bit. This statement uses the dereference operator (the asterisk before each pointer) twice, and, as you probably know, the dereference operator allows you to access the value that a pointer points to, instead of accessing the value of the pointer itself (a memory address), which is what you would be accessing if you didn't use the dereference operator.
    So, on the right side of the assignment you have *pEnd, which is basically saying to take the value pointed to by the pointer pEnd and assign in to whatever is on the left side of the assignment, and that's where your problem is -- the left side of the assignment. The *pEnd part is fine, but the +*pStart =+ part is not fine. What you are saying here is to take whatever is on the right side of the assignment (*pEnd) and assign it to the value that is pointed to by the pointer pStart. And, as Keith mentioned, that's your problem. The value that is pointed to by pStart is a string literal ("SAW" here), and a string literal (like any literal) can not have anything assigned to it -- it can not be written to -- it is read-only, as Keith said. And like anything else read-only, this means that it can not be on the left side of an assignment statement, and that's where you have it, so, we get an error.
    The solution, as Keith gave, is to change pStart from a character pointer (which is what you have declared it as) to a character array, like so:
    char sentenceArray[32] = "SAW";
    This will fix your problem.
    Hope this helped some. Pointers are rough business, especially when it comes to character pointers and character arrays and whatnot, and I still don't understand them well by any means, so keep at it. Best of luck!

  • Dropped my iPhone 4 and now There are strange vertical and horizontal line plus red/orange background. What is the problem and how do I fix it ?

    I can't see the apps or unlock my phone but at the top I see the time/mobile service ect.(it is turquise as if the colour has been reversed) and get notifications! Voice control ect. works as well !

    I think that there is a problem with your lcd screen which can only be fixed by replacing the whole lcd assembly. You should definitely take your phone to an apple store and have them fix it. Please dont attempt to replace the lcd screen by yourself because you can and will do more damage to your phone. Take it to an apple store and they will fix it for you.

  • Light blue lines all over the screen & if I need to buy new...?

    I am taking my Powerbook G4 to our Mac store on Monday. I use it with a Viewsonic monitor, and yesterday, there were suddenly faint offset blue lines on the whole screen. You can really see it where it used to be white. So set up the monitor to a different computer and it was fine. It is the computer. Maybe the screen? Or maybe a graphics chip? I really don't know how that works.
    Any ideas what it might be?
    My second question would be. This laptop is 4-1/2 years old. I use it all day long as I sell on ebay and etsy. The main things that I do are email, photo editing, and some games that I download from Bigfish, such as Ravenhurst.
    Would I be good going with a Mac Mini since I already have a monitor and just bought a new keyboard about a week ago? Or the smaller Imac. I am on very limited space and even the smaller Imac will crowd my cubbie area a bit, it would not fit under my lowest shelf.
    Thank you for any help you can offer.

    My current Powerbook is Processor 1.67 GHz
    Memory 1GB DDR2 SDRAM

  • Satellite P300-150 - Blue lines across the screen

    A question about my blue screen but as a computer non geek havn't a clue how to describe. Here goes.
    The normal white screen of my computer has begun to appear with moving blue lines across it. However when I push my laptop screen back toward my knees the screen stabilizes and is normal.

    Hello
    That means if you have the display, the picture will not be display properly anymore?! Is this right?
    And what you mean exactly with white screen exactly?
    At the moment it sounds like that the LCD cable has a loose connection and must be replaced. Therefore you can contact an authorized service provider in you country to replace this part.
