Why to current dates all show 2008?

For some time now, the dates in Mail all show the year 2008. When I open a mail message, it shows the correct date. I also have this problem in iCal: if I search for events in iCal, they all show the year 2008; however, they are in chronological order, and I can figure out what year they should be. And in the Finder, today's files will show as Today, and yesterday's files will show as Yesterday, however, the following day, yesterday's files will have the correct month and day, but the year 2008. Is there a .plist file I can delete that will get things back on track?
I have a Mac Pro 2x2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, running under OS 10.6.8. This problem also was happening under OS 10.5.

Interestingly, I had to make both the suggested changes of kurt and Niel. Together, they fixed the problem. Thanks very much to both of you. For some reason, in the Language & Text pane of the System Preferences, the short format was: 1/5/08. The "1" and "5" were drop-down selections, but the "08" was not; it acted as a constant. When I changed that, the short form of the date displayed correctly. It solved the date problem in iCal, and with Kurt's change, Mail was straightened out.

my workstation's clock is set correctly. it's set to "Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes". I'm in the GMT timezone. the osb/wls stdout console window and logs all show the correct date and time.
if i run the "current-date()" and "current-time()" functions through XML Spy 2001's XPath engine, it outputs the correct date and time.
what gives? anybody know what's wrong?
i've come across a few other similar threads. i've found the MLR #16 patch referred to in some of those posts. but unless i'm mistaken, it looks like that particular patch is for OSB 10.1.x.x.x; and i'm using 11.1. so i would have thought that 11.1 would have that patch anyway. no?

turns out that wrapping current-date in "fn:adjust-date-to-timezone()" is Zone related date time conversion problem with fn-bea:dateTime-to-string...
there's also an "adjust-time-to-timezone()" and an "adjust-dateTime-to-timezone()". who knew?
if anybody else has any other solutions, i'm all ears.

Dates all show up as 5th of month in mail and address book. Why?

In my address book and mail, all dates (birthdays, date received/sent, etc) show up as the 5th of whatever month. In address book, I can see the correct date if I go to "edit" and then click on the date as if I'm going to edit it, but that gets a bit old. In mail, however, I can't see what date an email was sent or received - they all say 5 (example: January 5, 2011 shows up for everything I've sent and received so far this year).
Is anyone else having this problem?

Why does current temperature not show up in Notifications?

I've researched this everywhere, and have been annoyed with it for years, but only now hoping there must be a solution to this.
See image. The current temperature doesn't show in Notifications in iOS 8, nor did it show on iOS 7. I can't remember before that. For Android users, the temp is on the lock screen. I have to unlock, make sure I'm on the home screen, then hit the weather app.

Good heavens that is annoying. I thought it could be disabled in the Notification centre settings, but Weather app doesn't seem to exist.

I have just deleted the additional weather locations & disabled location services for the weather app (& rebooted). The default weather is gone from notification center (but the pointless "Weather & stock info provided by YAHOO!" text is still shown (both widgets are not active).
You can re-order the notifications in the settings if you tap the edit button, it may improve things a little.

Empty date fields showing in receipt

Why do empty date fields show in the email receipt even though I have the "Include empty fields" de-selected in the email receipts section? Example from receipt shown.

You will get email receipt and email notification if you check both options. email notification will have all fields summary including empty ones if check the option include a summary of the response data in the email.
email notification title is "form name": Response Received.
email receipt title by default is Form Submission Receipt: Adobe FormsCentral

Fixed report period based on current date

I want to create a report containing records over a fixed period without using a date parameter. As a example I would like the report to continually draw on data that is no more than say ten years from the current date.
E.g. Current date (xx/xx/2008) to (Current date - 10 years) or xx/xx/1998 then next year the formula would automatically adjust to current date (xx/xx/2009) to (Current date - 10 years) or xx/xx/1999.
I am only a novice when it comes to designing reports so please bear that in mind.

Create a RecordSelectionFormula and subtract 10 years from the current date with the DateAdd formula.
E.g.
//DateAdd (intervalType, nIntervals, startDateTime)
{Table.Date} > DateAdd ("yyyy", -10, CurrentDate)
The DateAdd function has more interval types, so you can subtract months, days, hours as well. Check the CR help file and search for DateAdd for details.

Can I make a checkbox populate the current date?

I've been asked to make a form that has quite a few checkboxes. These checkboxes also need to be marked with a date when checked off.
Rather than have the person filling out the form type the date every time they check the box, they request that when the user clicks the checkbox that a current date show next to the checkbox.
I don't know if this can be done with a current date stamp or with having a text box that populates with the current date, etc.
The forms are also going to be used throughout multiple days, so I can't just call on a "current date" and show/hide that text box like I had originally thought to do.
I'm also really green to scripting so any help or guidance in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Current Date in Debugger different from Current Date in Web-Determinations

Just today....
The current date in my laptop is 7/4/2012;
When I invoke build and restart debugger without screens, I am showing the current date at 7/4/2012
When I invoke build and restart debugger with screens, the current date is showing as 7/5/2012
Does anyone have any thoughts about this?

We are using OPM 10.4
The project region is US (English)
It's running on a laptop where the time zone is Pacific Time (US&Canada) - (UTC-8:00)
For this moment (0740) local, the current date is showing as 7/5 in both debugger with and without screens.
I will monitor hourly to see if it flips over to tomorrow's date.
As an aside, I note, on project start-up, it takes 3-4 efforts to deploy to debugger with screens. It seems to time out (error message says "Tomcat embedded web server failed to start after 30 seconds") for the first two or three tries, and then finally loads. I don't recall this experience in prior versions. Any thoughts on that? is there something I should set?

I face one issue, the old sales order (the delivery date before current date) has became VSF (independent requirement) in MD04, could someone let me know why and how to fix it?
Take 01.09.2014 as example, we have one 50PC's sales order with delivery date as 25.08.2014, in MD04, the system will show two independent requirements, one is 50PC's customer order and another is 50PC's VSF.

If I understood the issue correctly, system is showing both the sales order and the PIR on the same date, right?

I can help you for the future. Regularly back up your computer to an external hard drive (or cloud alternative). If you have your library backed up, it could be reinstalled on your new computer. In your current situation, you will have to reload all of your CDs as syncing of non-iTunes purchased music is only one way (Computer to iPod)

Option to show values up to last closed fiscal period or up to current date

How would I create a query that would ask if I want it to calculate values 'up to the current date' or for the 'latest closed fiscal period'.
Currently I have setup a report, within which, has restricted key figures that will give the 'Period to date', 'Year to Date', and 'Last Year Year to Date' values for some RKFs, however, it would be very helpful if this report could be setup so that the user could choose whether the report provides:
1. Values only through the last closed fiscal period
or
2. Values up to the current date.
<b>For example</b> if we are in period 7 of 2006, the user could have the report show all values up to the last closed fiscal period, which in this case would be period 6 of 2006.
Or the user could have the report show all the values up to the current date.

What is the problem you are facing? As San mentioned you can only report till Last Fiscal Period using Customer Exit Variables(Calculate Current Fiscal Period using Current Month and Fiscal Year Variant).
Or as you mentioned you can create restricted Key Figures using Date or month (YTD etc)
If i miss your requirement, please guide me.

Java code to show current date & time on PDF

I have no experience with Java whatsoever and I am hoping somebody out there will be able to help me. Basically we are in the process of uploading all our SOP's to a public share on our Network. Due to regulatory reasons everytime the document is opened it will need to show the current date which will also show when printed. I have adobe 9 pro and see there is a area that you can input Java code so with the power of Java im sure this can be done. Ideally this would be like a watermark across all the page diagonally faded into the background of each page on the PDF.

Is this a screen or a report?
If its a report, try assigning DEFAULT sy-datum (to the parameter/select-option name)
If its a screen field, try writing this in the PBO:
IF fieldname IS INITIAL.
fieldname = sy-datum.
ENDIF.

Literally have seen this very-much-needed -- and used -- option "promised" for three years now, and even if there's only one or two formats that could be used, at least the option is there.
It seems only way is to link a Macro and tool to Thunderbird and do it that way.

Where was it promised? A quick search of Bugzilla didn't find a functionality request bug report for it.
I assume you're aware that Mozilla stopped development about 2 years ago (just adds security/stability fixes and provides infrastructure) and all new features and bug fixes are now added by the community. They seem pretty tied up with bug fixes and reworking some hard to maintain components such as the MIME support.
Have you tried the Timestamp add-on at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/timestamp/ ? The version at AMO doesn't support versions later than 2.0 so you'd need to do something like install the disable add-on compatibility checks add-on at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/checkcompatibility/?src=ss, and ignore the warning message about Timestamp not being compatible. However, the author has a version at http://extensions.sanjer.nl/?page=tb_ts that supposedly supports up to Thunderbird 11.9.x so it should be "compatible by default as it supports version 5 or later and is not a binary add-on like Lightning or Enigmail.
