Why untitled???

every time i import some new footage all the clips are named untitled, untitled 1, untitled 2 etc. i tried changing th e reel name but i dont even know what it does. is there a way to name all the clips as i import them??

Enter the clip name before you capture the clip. This is really important, a reel name or number and a clip name because this is assigned to the QT file when it's captured.

When a new album is created it will fill with whatever is in the right hand window,  If you're in the Events or Photos mode it will contain all photos in the library.  Yes, strange behavior.

  • Why is it that, "The document "Untitled.numbers" could not be saved." ?

The new version of TextEdit (Version 1.7 (289.3)) can save files to our server shared folder (mini server, raid 1 array, 10.7.3) and save changes, Numbers can only save them the first time. After that

Now save works, but wait for much disk grinding
This computer went from 10.6.8 and jumped to 10.7.3 and I had to split the RAID 1 array it started on to get the installation to restart and complete. Hints from the installer that some features would not be available (autorecover drive) didn't hit it would leave a folder crucial to operation of Apple's own software inaccessible.
    The path does exist, Panda.
Why was that folder not accessible except to system? and hidden in the normally hidden /Users/X/Library for fun? with a nearly useless error?

As far as I know, the AutoSave feature as it is treated by iWork apps is unable to work on networks.
You must work on the local machine then copy the document to the network.
I guess that this annoying feature will strike until the delivery of the lond waited major upgrade.

  • When I create a new album, why does iPhoto 11 separate pictures into untitled albums?

When creating a new album, why does iphoto 11 separate pictures into untitled albums?  I want all designated photos in the album i created..

I'm guessing you're missing the album in the left hand pane by just a bit and thus creating new albums for each of the photo you're dragging.  Make sure the album is highlighted as in this screenshot (iPhoto 9.4.2) before releasing:
A sure file way to get an album with the photos is to select the photos again and use the File ➙ New Album menu option
and that will produce a new album with the photos that were selected.

  • When trying got save a document I get a message saying "can't open untitled.page" and it doesn't save or if it does i can't open it. why.

When trying got save a document I get a message saying "can't open untitled.page" and it doesn't save or if it does i can't open it. why.

I think I found out how to solve this - I turned off iCloud documents and data, and now I can save and don't get the "can't open untitled.page" and am now able to properly save!
    Hope it works for you.

  • Every new picture I add to an iPhoto album appears in a new "untitled album" - why?

I created an Album specifically for syncing with my iPhone. Every time I add a new picture to that album, iPhoto creates a nested "untitled album" for each picture. Thus I have "untitled album," "untitled album 1," etc. All I want is a single Album where I can selectively add photos for moving to the iPhone. I'm using iPhoto 11, iPhone 4s, iTunes 10.5.

As a test  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it? If it doesn't then your current library is damaged and needs to be repaired. Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with
Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Download of .zip file causes 1)stream of 'untitled' tabs & 2)download win doesnt open - why?

tried to download .zip files from Deitel.com and InformIT.com -- download worked in Internet Explorer, caused a stream of tabs L to R on the Firefox 3.6.8 browser screen, flickering download window, but no files were delivered -- waited 5 min. The tabs were labeled 'untitled'.
Host system Windows 7 Home User.

Firefox sometimes has this tab proliferation when there is a mixed signal about which program is supposed to handle the download, the browser or an external program. If you check here:
    Tools > Options > Applications
then type zip in the search box and wait for it to filter...
Make sure none of the items is supposed to be opened with Firefox.

  • What is untitled.pages.-tef and why do I keep getting them?

I've been collecting files with *.pages.-tef in iCloud. Mostly they are untiteld.pages-tef but I just got one with the name of a document I created. They will not open. If it is in an icloud folder (auto created) the space bar clicking on the folder reveals a file that is named list. I also have a accumulateion of files named untitled. These cannot be opned from my MAC or in the iWorks pages.

Growl is a notification utility that, when configured, lets you know when people come online (MSN, Adium) or send email (although that is not working right now). Several applications can take advantage of it.
If you have it installed, there should be a preference pane: look in system preferences. The main panel should display it at the bottom in a section marked Other (or alphabetically if you have view set that way).
The website is here and I see that there is a note at the top, ''If Growl was installed without you knowing about it, please see this page for an explanation". That may answer some of your questions.

  • Why can I not rename an event in iphoto?  It keeps reverting to "untitled event!"

Every time I upload photos to iphoto and it creates a new event, I am somehow unable to rename that event.  I double click and delete the default label, "untitled event" and even as I type the new name it will immediately revert to say "untitled event."  This sometimes happens even at the same time as I type, like the computer and my own typing are fighting against each other.

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try renaming again.
NOTE:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Why when loading certain pages it gives me an untitled page?

When I want to browse a webpage and click on to go to that page, an untitled page comes up, what does this mean? Is it because Firefox has crashed and cannot load the page?
I try after a few moments to reload the page, but keep on getting the untitled page ?

I was able to get it. Apparently there was some old photo in my iPhoto library that was being mapped out to the server that it kept trying to connect to.
Which should have been relatively easy to detect, except the way that iPhoto is setup, there was no real way to find the source for each photo.
What I was able to do to was, under photos, CMD-A to select all photos and then try and move them to an album. It popped up with a notice saying that it wasn't able to find XXXXX.jpg and I had the option to cancel or find the photo. So I renamed another photo on my desktop to XXXXX.jpg, and when the error came up, I selected Find and then used the copy on my desktop to replace it.
After I did that, it let me add all of the photos to an album and I was able to launch the screensaver successfully.
A pretty big pain in the but that would have been easier to resolve if the UI of iPhoto was a little more detailed or customizable. But oh well it worked for me.
    Hopefully this helps.

  • Pages stops loading, show the blank white untitled page - why?

Everything was fine just recently, when one unlucky day suddenly I become unable to download some very familiar WEB sites. Not all, just some. Whitу blank untitled field shows all the time instead! No new software installed, no any custom restrictions has been done prior.. donnow...
Checked the some forums online, seems it ia a bit common problem and caused on Win7 x64 with conflicting Adobe Flash Player. I am using very up-to-dated one, I checked, and anyway the problem is on.
    Happens either with FireFox/IE.
    No solutions found so far.

  • Why are my new, blank tabs titled "Untitled 2"?

This just started happening tonight.  Restarting Safari doesn't help.  It's not a major bother -- Safari still works fine.  I just find it really curious that it started happening.  I don't have any other Safari windows open.

    any Safari extensions enabled ?
    If so, test without.
Failing that, triple-click to select the line below & choose Services-Reveal from the Safari or ctrl-click menu.
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Then with Safari Quit - move  that file out to the Desktop. Test Safari again after setting 'tabs open with'...
any better ? - If not, quit safari & replace the file, overwriting the newer one.
This file contains most all safari settings, including those for extensions... so restting all those may not seem worth it for this.

  • Drag drop photo import to aperture folder why auto new project folder appear .

i do import photos from desktop  to folder that i want in the aperture libary  . as soon as i drag and drop photos automatically new peoject folder appear in the libabry as name untitled project.. why? i dont want that new project folder.  i try to delete that folder and my picture all automatically deleted from library.
also if i try to delete photos from preject folder .. it completely deleted from master library .. picture will be lost.. why?
i drag and move pictures to  brand  new album or folder .. then try to delete wanted project folder - master picture are all gone.
now i have at least 30-40 of untitled project folder in the library ... pictrure are not movable i meant you can move but u still have to keep old project folder to avoid master picture can not be deleted ...
someone help me? did i make myself clear?

You might read the manual or the Help as this is all covered there.
If you want to import to a specific project use the File -> Import option. You can select your destination there.
Every photo in a Library is in a project. Projects are the basic building block of the Library. That's why.
Folders don't contain photos. They can contain Projects or Albums. These contain photos. Albums don't contain the actual photos, just links to them. So if you add a photo to an Album and then delete the project... you delete the photo.
Remember: you don't move photos to an Album, you add them.
    Regards
    TD

  • Can someone help me figure out why system crashed?

I've got a desktop G5 running OS 10.3.9. Today I came home (9pm) and noticed that the fans were on full-blast, and my displays were dark (no "kernel panic" gray square). I rebooted and one of the monitors had a picture that was all crazy - I had to unplug it from the computer's 2nd video card and plug it back in. Then everything was ok. There was a brief (~1 minute) power outage today at 3pm, but I have everything on a UPS and it is set to shut down gracefully when the power is out for more than a few minutes. I'm trying to figure out what happened; according to the System log, it was still up at 6:24pm so maybe the power outage had nothing to do with it (although there were some weird UDP denies from the firewall, apparently coming from my laptop which is also on the home wireless network - very odd). Below are the two logs; can someone tell me why it crashed??

I'm not aware of any, not to say that there aren't any issues.
it may have nothing to do with ntpd, there are a lot of things running.
ntpd just happen to make the log entry at the same time as the panic.
I would check to see if there are any updates available for you system.
if this is the first time that this has happened. it may be (pick one):
    cosmic rays
    sun spots
    the trilateral commission
if this happens more frequently and that traces look the same, then
there may be a real problem that needs to be looked into further.
