Why was I prompted to update Firefox when I now see the update was pulled due to problems?

WHY WHY just WHY...... that simple....

That happened over two weeks ago with Firefox 16.0 - 16.0.1 was released within 4 days to fix that issue. Now Firefox 16.0.2 has been released.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

You can name it something other than index, but will be harder to find. when you create the subjects and link to them, they can can be named anything with the html extension Or if your using PHP end in .php. There is a Microsoft type asp or aspx but your hosting service has to set up using windows server system.
My hosting service use a Linux server normally but can convert Windows for a Fee. UNIX Linux has no concept of asp or aspx.

FormsCentral can be used from anywhere, but to purchase a subscription you need a credit card with the mailing address in one of the countries supported for purcahse:

The partner can purchase if they have access to a card in one of those countries. Alternatively they do not need to purchase a subscription to edit forms that you've created, they do in order to create multiple forms of their own, but by your sharing forms with them at the "Co-author" level they have access to the editing. The exact same things happend to me!! how frustrating! ive reinstalld it soooo many times and quicktime seperatly too as i have had so many different error messages including something to do with quicktime, i dont know what to do but as you said my ipod is useless with out itunes! if anyone works this out let us know! thanks alot x

Did you also try to delete the localstore.rdf file in the profile folder?

Starting Firefox 8, I cannot see the extensions.rdf file. Does it was replaced/renamed/deprecated ?

After Firefox 8, I cannot see the extensios.rdf file as before. Basically, here I used to get the firefox key e.g. {ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384} and then get the FF version via em:minVersion/em:maxVersion.

If you are looking to edit the maxVersion for an extension, do the edit in the '''install.rdf''' file for each particular extension.

I ended up reformating the drive as FAT32 because I still need to use it on my Windows 98SE system also. I did have a problem with the allocation size. I wanted to use 512 bytes but it kept failing so I used the default size(8192 bytes) and then it worked fine. I didn't think there would be a problem formatting as NTFS but since you are having problems I just tried it. It failed at 512 bytes allocation size so I tried again using 4096 bytes, the default, as the allocation size and it failed again. It looks like these drives will not format as NTFS.
Also, I think I figured out what's going on with the ReadyBoost problem. As I said initially it wouldn't work with ReadyBoost then after I had 12GB of data on the drive the ReadyBoost feature started working. After I deleted all the files it quit working again. After doing some reading on the net about Flash drives and ReadyBoost problems it appears that the memory chips on my Lenovo Flash drive are mixed with both fast memory chips that work fine with ReadyBoost and slower memory chips that are too slow for ReadyBoost. Apparently, after I fill up the portion of memory with data that uses the slow chip(s) then ReadyBoost works fine with the fast chip(s). I also verified the Flash drives read and write memory speeds using Vista's Event Viewer. To work with ReadyBoost the Flash drive has to read at a minimum of 2.5MB/s (for 4KB random reads) and write at a minimum of 1.75MB/s (for 512KB random writes).
Let me know what you find out.

Why is video so choppy in Firefox when Chrome on the same machine is fine

For a number of years now video and firefox are not 2 words I would use in the same sentence. I have had to install Chrome for 2 purposes, one to allow access to a corporate gmail account and the other reason is to view any type of web based video (youtube, BBC iPlayer etc).
I can't help the gmail reasoning and it keeps things sane when working from home but I resent having to switch from my otherwise favourite browser to watch video when I used to be able to do it in Firefox.
It's not machine specific either, the issue has been plagueing firefox for years through a number of reformats and clean installations, its just laggy. Adobe isnt going to own up to a faulty product and to be fair it all works fine in other browsers, when can we see it acknowledged and possible addressed?

How do I open with one click all the windows that I have been minimized? When I right click on the lower bar Firefox icon, I only see the option to close all windows.

It is used to be that I could right click on the Firefox icon on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen and I would then be given the option to open all windows. Now I only see the option to close all windows. The ability to open all windows is very useful. Have you eliminated this capability? It was a very helpful feature because I often have more than 15 windows minimized at one time. On a regular basis I like to open them all and keep only the ones that I still need. I know that it is possible to see the name of each window that is minimized by moving my cursor over the Firefox icon, but this does not provide enough information. So I have to open each window one at a time to look at it and then decide to close it or keep it - this is a frustrating, time-consuming process. Is there another way to open all the minimized windows at the same time, instead of one at a time?

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Why can I not edit tags properly when I click on the star/bookmark icon?

When I try to edit tags, I cannot see the text I'm typing and when I type something and say "Done". The changes are saved so that's fine. I also noticed when I choose the folder for where the bookmark goes via clicking the star/bookmark icon, it doesn't update the choice I've made visually.

What happens when you click the star (now colored gold) a second time? See the steps in the process of adding a bookmark by the method you are using. Step 1, step 2....

Why do I get error code -8003 when attempting to empty the trash?

I moved a number of folders from a back-up drive (using Time Machine) to the trash, and have had no success in getting them out of the trash. Option+Empty, Option+Secure Empty Trash, after using Disk Utility to repair permissions and then try again, and the TrashIt! app.. nothing is working. I'm not in need of the space, I just want to get rid of the items. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, as I can't even find 'Error Code -8003' anywhere. tx

The reason why some of the files are blocking the trash from emptying is because of specific ".app" files from third party companies like Adobe products. Not the user files or the various help documents but instead the actual mother program. Here's how to fix this problem:
1) remove from the trash all the actual software programs like Photoshop, InDesign, DreamWeaver and so on and put them on the desktop.
2) Command "I" (info) and when the dialog box opens go to the "Name & Extension" text box and remove the ".app" from the software name. Example: Photoshop.app change to Photoshop.
3) the program icon will change to a "folder icon".
4) put the folder icon back into the trash and you should be able to now empty the trash.
If you continue to get the error code 8003 it's because you may still have one or more software programs in the trash that needs to go through this process. Remember - it's not the user files or help documents or supporting files that is causing this but instead the "actual product programs".
