Why was I sent an email about resetting my apple ID password?

I updated some apps on my iPad and suddenly there was an email in my box called HOW TO RESET YOUR APPLE ID PASSWORD. Why?

Dunno for sure, but don't click any links in that mail.
Go to your computer (if you have itunes on your computer) and log into iTunes that way. It'll tell you if you need to change things.

  • HT201303 I get several messages each day about resetting my Apple ID password. Should I care?

    I have no idea where to put this security question. So I guess it could go here.
    I have accounts for iPhone, iPad and for program development.
    There is no clue if someone is attempting to hack my password or if they do believe that my username is theirs. Any way they seem not to give up trying.
    Should I care? Should I do something?

    Just what do the emails say?
    Could somebody be attempting to change the passwords for you account?

    Of particular use in your case:
    What should I do if I don't remember the answers to my Apple ID security questions?
    Try answering them at least once to see if you can get them right, even if you are not sure you remember the answers to your security questions.
    If you are confident you can't remember them, try one of the following:
    If you have three security questions and a rescue email address
    sign in to My Apple ID and select the Password and Security tab to send an email to your rescue email address to reset your security questions and answers. 
    If you have one security question and you know your Apple ID passwordsign in to My Apple ID and select the Password and Security tab to reset your security question.
    If you have one security question, but don't remember your Apple ID password

Because i authorised it and it said this pc was one of 5 aujthorised.  if anyone can be of assistance then great!

    I'm having a similar problem.  I had previously (over a year ago) purchased 2 episodes of Law & Order.  Then about 2 months ago, I purchased the 3rd season of Sons of Anarchy.  When I downloaded these episodes to my iPad, about a dozen full seasons of various shows popped up, too.  No money was removed from my iTunes account & theses particular shows aren't in my iTunes library on my desktop.  I've tried every which way to delete them from my ipad, but can't.  I went to the Apple store & they suggested I contact expresslane.apple.com for help.  I submitted my problem, via email Friday, as they asked, but have not received any response.  Any suggestions on how to get rid of these "phantoms?".

    I can personally ensure you get it if after waiting the 60 days you still haven't recieved it yet.
    You would also want to ensure:
    - You have the annual (yearly) Creative Cloud plan
    - You log into the Creative Cloud website from within 3 of the Adobe Touch Apps from the tablet using your Adobe ID associated with your membership
    If all this looks correct and you don't recieve an email after the 60 days, send me a private message and I'll ensure you get it.

I have been getting several emails for the past couple of days where it says how to reset when I never asked to do so. Is there anything that should be done about it? Or anything apple can do about it for my email is very different and not easy to guess or duplicate.

    Your password was sent to your emergency email address.  Perhaps you have an email you never use?   I use the free email from my cable TV account as my emergency email.
    Your Apple account and cloud account are separate.   You could even have completely different user and password.   Most of us use the same user ID and password, but they are not the same thing, don't mix them up.
    If you can't retrieve emergency email, you will have to call apple support.

    If you have a rescue email address on your account then you've checked the inbox and spam folder on that email account as well ? If it's not there either (and you can't reset your password by answering your security questions) then try contacting Support in your country, they should be able to reset it for you.

    They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.
