Why was my Podcast rejected by Itunes?

This is the email I got from Itunes two days after submitting my Switchfoot Podcast.
iTunes Music Store Welcome
Dear Podcast Owner
The following podcast has not been included in the iTunes podcast directory.
Name: Unofficial Switchfoot Podcast
Feed URL: http://aqhyagrl.libsyn.com/rss
Submissions may not be included in the directory for a variety of reasons. For more information, please see the podcast technical specification at http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/techspecs.html.
Sincerely,
The iTunes Music Store Team
I don't understand why they wouldn't take it. It's clean and everything. This is the link I gave them to my RSS feed: http://aqhyagrl.libsyn.com/rss ... I tried it on the Advanced menu, "Subscribe To Podcast" and it worked perfectly.

Thanks, I heard back from Itunes... they told me to change the <title> and <link>, so I did but it still says I'm submitting the same feed. I told them this and they wrote me back and said they would get back with me on why it won't go through. Why is it so difficult to get a podcast up?!

  • Why was my podcast rejected?

So I recently submitted a podcast for myself. It was a DJ podcast and was accepted just fine. The other day I submitted one for my partner in my DJ business. I got an e-mail today saying his was rejected and I am not sure why. Mine is EDM and his is Hip-Hop, but I set the Explicit setting to yes for his, because of the language. Can anyone help? The feed is http://frozenphoenixent.com/itunes2.xml

From the description I assume that your podcast consists of a 'mix' of commercially issued recordings? This is a breach of copyright, and consequently your podcast will not be allowed in the Store. You can't use such recordings in a podcast without specific written permission of the copyright owners (which you are not likely to get).
There is a certain amount of music available as 'podcast safe' - where you would have permission to use the material: you could search on that term in Google if you wanted to follow that idea up.

Why doesn't Podcast display in iTunes Store V11.0.2? It used to. It's now blank.

However, for some reason, as of 1.0.3 version of the software it doesn't display Cyrillic Capital Letter Yu (Unicode 042E) in the artists' names.
Is that the only Cyrillic character that does not display correctly? What do you get instead?

  • Podcast rejected by iTunes as explicit, how to resubmit it?

I created it by dropping a sound file into iWeb and then putting it into feedburner. How do I now mark it as explicit (it's been rejected) and resubmit?
    Thanks!
    Dan

Which feed was submitted to iTunes? The iWeb one or did you submit that to Feedburner and submit the Feedburner one to iTunes?
If you originally had a feedburner feed and changed the iWeb feed which was submitted to it this wouldn't necessarily change the URL - though it would if you started a new Feedburner account from scratch.
In order to move to a different URL you have to add a tag to the feed - details here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/podcast.html#move
    - which you may not find possible in Feedburner. But are you talking about iTunes ratings? If you had a podcast in the Store, and it was removed, then the ratings would disappear with it and changing the URL won't get them back.

  • Podcast rejected by iTunes

I originally submitted a rss feed to iTunes, which was accepted. I had to change the name of the feed, so I used the <itunes:new-feed-url> line in the old xml file (that line is not in the new xml file - should it be?). I then received a rejected notification from iTunes. And now a pop-up window in iTunes says "the item you've requested is not currently available in the US store."
I presume there was a syntax error in the xml file, which has since been revised. When I “Subscribe to Podcast…” under the Advanced menu with the feed URL: http://www.threeriverscc.org/.rss/TRCC_rss.xml, the Podcast loads and works correctly. I can also successfully ping the Podcast. The feed has also been validated at http://www.feedvalidator.org/.
How do I get my podcast up and running again? Do I somehow re-submit the feed for review?

Yes, sorry about that. I moved the XML file to http://www.threeriverscc.org/TRCC_rss.xml, and I re-directed the <itunes:new-feed-url> in the original file (which remains in its original location) in hopes that iTunes would update its cache with the new location. Obviously, it didn't. Again, I apologize for messing with it while you were trying to help me out. I can move everything back exactly the way it was if you like.
You mentioned the FeedBurner feed...do you think that has something to do with my problems?
    Thanks again, Erik.

  • Why was iCloud.msi added to iTunes 11.1.4 ?

The windows installer for iTunes 11.1.4 contains iCloud.msi.
The previous versions did not include this.
The included version of iCloud.msi works only in Windows-Vista,
not in Windows-XP, not in Windows-7.
Apple does offer an iCloud software for Windows 7 for download,
but it is not required to use iTunes.
Why is iCloud included in iTunes?
Why is it a version that does not work in Windows 7?

    Maro,
I'm running VISTA on my PC. None of the suggestions solved the problem. I uninstalled iTunes removing all suggested files from another post and reinstalled iTunes 11.1.3 and removed the iTunes Ibarra from my iPhone Remote. I restarted the computer, iPhone &amp; router. I added the iTunes library to my iPhone remote. I didn't get an icon on the menu bar of the iTunes on the PC but a dialog came up asking for the code which was on my phone. I typed in the code and the library showed up on my iPhone Remote. I selected it and got an error message that it couldn't connect. This is extremely weird and frustrating. What should I do now?

  • Why was my question rejected

What a great way to make someone feel stupid. What a great way to make someone feel their question does not matter. Marilyn Pratt should take the time to explain why I was rejected instead of just dismissing my question. Not a great image of SAP!

    Peter,
I understand you very well Peter...
Once, a question of mine was rejected, on the grounds that it was not respecting the rules...
What rules? Nobody sent me a rule book, and I my inquiry about said rules received no response.
Frankly, a lot of times, I think it is because there is nobody to answer the question.

  • Podcast Rejected by iTunes, but feeds into Instacast

Hi, I read several other posts concerning xml problems, but the only way to get help seems to be posting my own xml URL. Sorry for the repetition.
I submitted this to iTunes, who accepted it for review and then rejected it. I sent it to feed validator and cleaned up the XML a bit. Now Instacast can fetch it, but when I submit it to iTunes, it says there is a "problem downloading the files."
    http://www.trgeo.com/index/files/Rambling_on.xml
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, I read almost every discussion about submitting troubles but I couldn't figure out what's wrong with my podcast xml file. It is really odd, my problem is exactly the same as crowejoshua had, except I have only one episode which appears in my feedburner feed, and even when I subscribe in iTunes using the ulr of the xml file as a user, I can download that episode. But I want to submit the podcast in order to appear in the store...
The xml can be found here: http://vgfszaklap.hu/podcast/rss.xml and you may notice that it contains crazy characters, but I created two other xml files using only texts from "podcats examlpes" just to make sure it's not up to the characters. One of the two is this: http://vgfszaklap.hu/podcast/tortenelem.xml
Feedvalidator says only the doctype is missing, but I had trouble to choose the right doctype, so I just dropped it. Is it important?
I tested feeds containing only one .pdf episode (using the right <enclosure> settings) as well, but got the same error.
So I contacted my hosting provider, but they couldn't answer this. Never had troubles downloading anything from my hosting, and as I wrote I could download the episode in iTunes by subcribing my link.
    So iTunes accepts the link
    Feedvalidator accepts the link
    Feedburner accepts the link
    My boss accepts the link
But when submitting, returns this: we had difficulties downloading episodes
It's the same when I submit the Feedburner link.
    What is wrong?
    crowejoshua, did you succeed?

Your Abuse Reports are definately appreciated. No doubt about that.
In this case 3 posts came into the reports, one of them self-reported by you.
They all tilted a bit too far into the grumpie (even horrify, or aggressive) zone, so were rejected. The system then automatically sends a nasty mail...
Perhaps we should tone down the choice of wording a bit?
Moving the What is BC - ABAP thread into the Coffee Corner didnt seem an option either because we have enough of those here by now as well ...
We cannot move every interview question into the Coffee Corner. The thread is now locked.

  • Why did my podcasts disappear with iTunes 11 upgrade?

I had a lot of podcasts [before upgrading to 11], and only one batch remains in the podcasts link (of which there are 2 for some reason in the left hand column). Where did the others go? Can i get them back?

Just restore the /Music/iTunes/ folder from your most recent backup.

  • Why was I rejected the podcast?

                 Hello,
Why was I rejected the podcast, once all links are working (feed and episodes)?
    http://feeds.feedburner.com / TrafficRadioStation
    How to Recover it again?

There is a technical issue: the URLs for your media files in the 'enclosure' tags download the file when opened in a browser, instead of playing them. This means they are being served incorrectlhy on the server - I don't know how this works with FeedProxy. The feed works OK when subscribed to manually in iTunes, but I don't know whether the Store page would handle this.
But a strong possibility for rejection is the actual content of your episodes. I've not listened to anything, but it looks as if they consist of commercially available recordings played as a 'DJ mix'. This is a breach of copyright unless you have obtained either specific written permission from the copyright owners or a 'podcast licence' (only available in certain countries, possibly only the USA).
The Store will certainly remove any podcast it notices which is playing copyrighted material.

  • ITunes Store Podcast Rejected Notification

    Hi guys..
I received a 'iTunes Store Podcast Rejected Notification' email on the 1st of this month & ever since then i've been trying to get to the bottom of it.
My podcast had successfully been on itunes for almost 4 years without a hitch & out of the blue it was removed by itunes for no apparent reason.
I've been emailing them back & forth & around 25 emails later they still haven't given me any specific answers (just links to various sites) & all they do is avoid the questions i ask & talk like robots. Now they have rudely ignored the last 10 emails i've sent.
I can't understand why it has been removed as it has been on there for almost 4 years without a problem. My new episode was on there for a couple months & actually reached number 3 in the charts.
I would also like to know if i do fix eventually fix this problem & manage to re-submit successfully, will i still have all my subscribers?
    So to the technical side.
    - I've tried re-submitting the feed maybe 10 times to no avail. Not even an email to acknowledge it.
    - I've used a 'feed validator' & it says the feed is fine
    - I've successfully managed to subscribe to the podcast via 'advanced', 'subscribe to podcast' through itunes & all the episodes appear fine
I don't manually touch the feed itself. I post on to 'Podomatic' & i assume they deal with how the feed works.
    Podcast URL: http://djmaxcords.podOmatic.com
    Podcast Feed: http://djmaxcords.podOmatic.com/rss2.xml
Any help would be really appreciated!
    Thanks
    Max

Your podcast appears to consist of mixes of Michael Jackson and perhaps other records (I haven't examined the episodes in any detail), presumably mostly commercially issued tracks.
If you have not obtained either permission in writing from the copyright owners, or a podcasting licence from a recognized authority, then you are in breach of copyright and that would be sufficient reason for your podcast to be removed (they may only just have woken up to it). I have to say that when they reject a podcast for reasons of content they really ought to give an indication that this is why.
If you have in fact cleared the material for use in your podcast then you would have to make this clear to Apple.
If you are able to resubmit and get approval, and are able to retain the same feed URL, then your subscribers shouldn't be affected.

  • Podcast rejected, fixed, resubmitted, but nothing from iTunes.

I got a rejection email for my podcast (below) weeks ago. Presumably it was rejected due to the lack of a title (it's now titled "Education Sector Podcasts").  I fixed this and resubmitted --- seemed to go OK, but I've heard nothing from iTunes yet (at least a couple of weeks ago now). Just not sure what to do to troubleshoot from here, if my title was the real reason, or how to fix the feed if that's not it. I saw some threads about rejections if iTunes suspects copyrighted material, but I'm not sure if ours would flag that. Any help would be great.
    Name: No Title
    Feed URL: http://feeds.feedburner.com/ESpodcasts

If you try to subscribe manually to iTunes (from the 'Advanced' menu) you will find your episodes will not download. This is because your mp3 file names have spaces in them. Spaces are not allowed in a URL and iTunes will see the URL as ending at the first space - hence the feed appears to have no playable episodes and will not be accepted.
You can do one of two things. You could amend the feed so that each space in a URL is replaced with the code %20 - e.g.
    http://www.educationsector.org/sites/default/files/audio/Dillon%20on%20Charter%2 0School%20Closures.mp3
Or - preferably - you could rename each file replacing the spaces with, for example, underscores, re-upload them and amend the feed to match. Either will work; until you do this you don't have a working feed.
