Why was RSSI removed from iOS4?

It appears that the Field Test Mode has been removed from iOS4 which also prevents owners from accessing their RSSI levels. The RSSI level provides a much better indication of the cellular wireless service signal strength than the signal strength bars. Why has this feature been removed from my 3G phone with iOS4, and is there a better way to monitor signal strength that will not use bars that work on a faulty algorithm?

If you developed a phone that had "signal strength issues" that you were blaming on a mis-calibrated "bars" display, would you want to have a direct signal strength display as well, letting users verify that claim for themselves?

  • Why was formatting removed from Export to Excel when exporting from PWA 2013?

We have recently moved from using Project Server 2007 to Project Server 2013 and one thing that we have noticed is that when we Export to Excel all the formatting has been removed and all the task grouping and alignment has been flatted.
Why did Microsoft remove this feature from the Project Server 2013?
Is there an easy way for anywhere there is an Export to Excel option on the Ribbon to add the formatting back?
What is the best solution to still retain the indents, bolding, and grouping?

    Jason --
I can confirm your findings with exporting PWA pages in Project Server 2013 to Excel.  As to why Microsoft removed the feature previously found in Project Server 2007, I have no idea, as I do not work for Microsoft.  I do not believe there is any
way to force the Export to Excel feature to work the same in 2013 as it did in 2007.  I think it will be up to the user to format the exported Excel workbook as needed.  Hope this helps.

  • Where is Rescue and Recovery 4.50 for Windows 7 and why was it removed from the support site?

When Rescue and Recovery 4.51 was released a few weeks ago, all references to the previous version were replaced. Unfortunately, the new release is not supported on the R series machines nor on the earlier T series machines, so for those machines, the only version of Rescue and Recovery for Windows 7 that is available is version 4.30.0027 which was released in September 2009.
    This makes no sense.
Please re-instate the documentation and download links for Rescue and Recovery 4.50 for all machines which were supported on that release but are not on version 4.51.

    Thank you for your response.
The R61 and the R500 that I own, that are currently running Windows XP are staying there until Microsoft stops supporting Windows XP, at which point I will decide what to do with them, so trying 4.51 on them is not currently an option.
As an IT professional, I tend to be the support guy for all the Lenovo computers in my family. My son also has an R500, which was purchased used, and it came with Windows 7. When I set it up for him, I installed Rescue and Recovery 4.5 over 4.3 before taking the original full system image backups.  He would loose the capability to use those backups if I were to try to downgrade that machine to Rescue and recovery 4.3. My own R500 came with Rescue and Recovery 4.30.0025, (for which there is no documentation nor download links available, to my knowledge), and I have never upgraded it, because I am concerned that all my backups would become unreadable if I did. I don’t think it is worth the effort to make all the external bootable backups that upgrading the software would require. I would upgrade if I was assured that version 4.30.0027 could read the backups taken by version 4.30.0025.
There were 2 more versions of Rescue and Recovery. There was version 4.31.007 released on 2010/09/28 and version 4.31.011 released on 2011/03/04. The document ID’s for release 4.51 are the same as those for the 4.31 releases, so I should assume that Lenovo considers the 4.31 releases a major advance over the 4.30 release, and thus not a valid fallback option but why not?

  • Why were podcasts removed from the stable Music app?

Why were podcasts removed from the stable Music app? If it was absolutely necessary to have a seperate Podcasts app, why couldn't we have kept the iOS 6 option of leaving podcasts in the Music app if we didn't download the Apple Podcasts app. Since the iPhone 3g I have never had an issue with the Music app, it's always be reliably stable, yet it's been problem after problem after being forced to download the Podcasts app after updating to iOS 7.
    1) Podcasts app, every version since being forced to download it with iOS 7, has never synced correctly with iTunes. My phone is always missing podcasts that I've set to sync and want to listen to when I'm away from my computer. Seems like this should be a basic function (one that worked flawlessly when podcasts were in the Music app)
    2) Since the last two updates, it has been CRASH AD INFINITUM. Not a single podcast will play for more than a second before the app crashes to springboard. The newest update that supposedly 'fixed' the stability issue fixed nothing for me. What is the point of all the new features if the app won't stay open? I don't want new features, I just want to sync podcasts from iTunes and then listen to them on my phone. Podcasts really should be that simple!
I've killed Apple Podcasts app from the multitasking view. Restarted app. Crash.
I've deleted Apple Podcasts app, and all data, re-installed, and synced. Crash.
I've deleted Apple Podcasts app, and all data, re-installed, did not sync, downloaded a podcast from within the app. Crash.
I've restored my phone, only installed the Podcasts app, downloaded a podcast from within the app. Crash.
Bought a paid third-party app, downloaded a podcast from with the app. Enjoyed listening to a podcast.

  • Why was wattpad deleted from the app store?

I found out that an app called wattpad was deleted from the app store. I have the app but it keeps crashing whenever I try to open it. Some people told me that if you delete the app, and re-download it from the "purchases" tab on the app store, it will work again. I have tried this three times and it crashed every time. I have an iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1.2. Why is wattpad not opening on my phone? Why was it deleted?

Wattpad developer here. We ran into a serious crash issue in the most recent version, which I'm assuming is what you're experiencing, so we pulled it from the App Store to prevent more users from updating to the version that crashes. We submitted a new version and it will be back in the App Store as soon as it's approved.
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.

  • Why our game removed from sale without any reasons??

Our game golden miner is forced to be removed from sale without any reasons.
Does other developers has similiar problem? How do you solve it?
    Thank you.

If colorme will please forgive me, I have a quick question for you, KT...
I'm simply trying to compute the cube of an integer, which I thought would be an easy job in Obj-C. But when I code:
    NSLog(@"20^3=%d", 20^3);
The result in the log is 23. What's with that? Someone said something about using pow. Hello?? Is this a math program or a Batman app? Someone else asked if I could hum four bars of it. I don't think anyone is taking the time to read my question, and I'd prefer a simple answer without all the tUde!! Do you see what's going on in this case?

  • When was iDVD removed from iLife?

I acquired a late 2011 17 inch Macbook Pro (Lion 10.7.3) in April of 2012. I am not sure whether iLife in that version came with iDVD or not. Can any one tell me if it did? Unfortunately I didn't try to burn a DVD until after upgrading to 10.7.5 and I'm wondering if iDVD was removed in that upgrade.

They didn't kill iDVD to force people to buy iCloud. The two are completely unrelated. iDVD was dropped most likely because there were free or low cost alternatives on the market and it would cost too much to rewrite iDVD to compete.
You were ripped off because you bought iLife on Amazon.com without properly researching. The issue of iDVD being omitted from future iLife updates had been widely discussed long before you bought your Mac. Had you asked here first we would probably have suggested buying iLife '09 Boxed Set. Unfortunately, much of it would not be updatable after Lion's 10.7.4 release.
I would hardly call one piece of software a demanding reason to return to Windows. You are now on a new platform with different software. Much about it you don't know. It's all a learning experience, just as it was for Windows.

  • How do I recover a device that was accidentally removed from my iTunes in the Cloud account?

While removing old devices from my iTunes in the Cloud account, I accidently removed my current iPhone 5s from the list.  I have saved closed out of the "manage account" window yet but don't see how to go back and undo this mistake.  Is there a way to reverse this before closing out of this or do I have to re-install device?

Try going to Settings>iTunes & App Store and enabling Automatic Downloads while signed into the Apple ID you were managing.  (If it's enabled, turn it off, then back on.)  That should add the device to iTunes in the Cloud for the ID.

  • Why is "Standard"  removed from paintbrush Mode list?

When using a paint brush and select another Mode, besides standard,
"Standard" is removed form the list of modes.
How can I make it reappear. (without rebooting the computer)?

Please see attached screen shot-- Word Doc
In my CS version of Photoshop there is a scroll bar.  This
version 10 photoshop Elements, does not have a scroll bar for the modes
and NORMAL is gone (should be at the top of the list).

  • Why was my user downloaded artwork removed after upgrade?

Just upgraded to itunes 10.4.  I have a huge library and I have alot of artwork that I myself added to many albums.  Now I have to do it all over again.  I still have the artwork,  but I have to associate it all over again.  Why does itunes erase the info?  Alot of time wasted to add it all over again.

Anyone?  My asumption is that iTunes doesn't like when you add album artwork, because I didn't buy it from the iTunes store.  Truth is alot of my library are over 500 cd's that I bought throughout my life.  I download the artwork that iTunes doesn't find.
So, Can nobody answer me why was it removed after the upgrade?

  • Why prereq check is removed from AD.I minipack

    hi,
as far as i know, prereq check is removed from AD.I minipack..what is the use of removing....
since we know before this..if any patch we apply with adpatch, if it checks the prerequisite information..it will be good for us, so we will come to conclusion that, we missed some prerequiste patches...but why it is removed from AD.I minipack...
to know the prerequistes check, we have to issue the adpatch options=prereq externally from AD.I minipack....
eventhough, there is option like adpatch options=noprereq....it is also there in AD.I minipack...since we know, from AD.I minipack, if we apply any patch, it will not check the prequisites..but what is the use of options=noprereq????
anybody sched some light on this????

why oracle has removed that feature
Changes in Default AutoPatch Prerequisite Checking Behavior
Earlier versions of AutoPatch (adpatch) would automatically check whether the prerequisites for the current patch were installed properly. An important change to the AutoPatch defaults was made in the Applications DBA Minipack 11i.AD.I.2 release: automatic checks for prerequisite patches are now disabled by default.
When you run AutoPatch AD.I.2 and higher, sharp-eyed DBAs may notice the following warning:
Attention: AutoPatch no longer checks for unapplied pre-requisite patches. You must use OAM Patch Wizard for this feature. Alternatively, you can review the README for pre-requisite information.
As of AD.I.2 and higher, if you want prerequisites to be checked, you now must explicitly pass the parameter options=prereq to AutoPatch in addition to any other parameters that you may already be passing. For example:
    $ adpatch options=prereq
This was a somewhat controversial decision within Development. Proponents for disabling prerequisite checks correctly note that certain patches won't apply even when their prerequisites have been applied as part of other combined patchsets.
The downside of this new default behavior is that you may end up applying a patch without knowing that the prerequisites are missing. This is a particularly tricky problem to debug when dealing with technology stack patches.
So, our standing recommendations are to check a patch's README carefully, or just add the options=prereq parameter manually when running AutoPatch.

  • Was "Wi-fi   Cellular" removed from iOS 6?

I read a lot about an iOS creature that would use cellular data if a wi-fi connection degraded (or the device had a strong wi-fi connection but lost Internet access, etc.). The setting was supposed to be found under Settings -> General -> Cellular. Tonight, however, after upgrading my iPhone 4S to iOS 6, that setting is nowhere to be found. Was it removed from the iOS 6.0 release?

I was looking for the same thing and can't seem to find it either...
