Why was the Aperture 1.0 promotion limited in time?

Dear Apple,
I am a photobook designer and Aperture is a great help to sort out my clients photos.
I love Apple, I really like the way Aperture is going... but... I was one of the first people to buy Aperture 1.0. A very costly purchase because:
a - at the time Aperture was priced rather high (I paid 700 CHF for it)
b - at the time, I had an Intel G5 first generation (I always tend to buy the new products...) and Aperture didn't work on it. So I bought an Intel based iMac to run Aperture.
Then, the price dropped... yaouch... that was a bit hard to swallow, but coming from an International Company background, I know that pricing is a difficult exercice, so I accepted that, well, that I was just a "pricing victim".
A few months back, a photographer friend tells me about the aperture pricing promotion so I log onto the site and quickly send out the form.
Two months go by and no answer. So I contact support who tells me that I sent my request too late. As I wasn't very happy they asked me to send an email to the external company who took care of your promotion. No answer. After a reminder, I receive a very unpolite answer telling me that I was too late and that's all! (btw I don't like that company, they are a bit rude!)
So, all this to say... since you have a database with the names of the people who purchased Aperture 1.0, why didn't you write to us? and why limit this promotion in time? and why use a rude company to deal with it?
I would still like to receive my voucher so I can buy some new fun apple stuff on the shop!!!

How can it be too late? The promotion is still on the Aperture web page, if it is by now too late the promotion should be taken of the web. The first time the promotion was announced I found it on the US web site and mailed it to the US. I bought Aperture in Swiss, but at that time the promotion was not yet on the Swiss or European sites. I of course never heard anything about it from the US company (while some UK people got the voucher from the US). Just a week ago I decided to look again and noticed the promotion too on the Swiss site. I printed out the form and sent it of last week.

Are you sure that your calendar still contains entries from that long ago? Generally when you sync the iPhone through iTunes, it will only sync entries from a specific time frame. It may be there older entries have been archived and do not exist on the iPhone anymore. Other than that, I don't see any setting that allows modification to the time frame for Spotlight search.

Have you looked at Delete and Close Gap as well as Delete for what you describe?
Nonetheless, adding or moving clips to an existing Timeline content without disturbing the existing Timeline content can be challenging and complex under certain scenarios.
Typical solutions include making these moves with a keyboard modified held down (Windows Alt or Ctr). I am strictly an Elements Windows user, so we will need to find the Mac counterparts for the Windows keyboard modifier techniques.
Also, if one move triggers a multi-chain disaster, then you should consider grouping block of clips so that they do not move while you are busy with your Timeline maneuvers. Check out the Clip Menu options for Group and Ungroup.
Some times in the "Mac condition", you need to use fn in addition to the command to achieve some of these Windows counterparts.
The following video tutorial on arranging clips and keyboard modifiers is being posted for informational non promotional reasons.

It is demo'd with Premiere Elements 8, but the principles are the same for later versions of the program.

You should not have to delete audio to prevent it from being split by an addition to an existing Timeline. The keyboard modifiers should help you resolve this type of issue.

I want it back.
I used to have an icon for printing on the Toolbar in 3.5.5.
When I asked where it went, I found this answer: "That Print window will show every time you go to print something in Firefox 3.6+ versions, the option to suppress that window from appearing and the user to be able to print "directly" was removed." Tried to reinstall 3.5.5 but couldn't. Not liking 3.6 at all

Took a tad more than just "going to Customize. " First thing to do was figure out where "Customize" might be. Just guessing, I clicked the three-horizontal-line box at far right end of the address bar. Downloads was on that menu. But I want it on my toolbar, where it used to be at far right of address box. At bottom of the Menu screen there was a bar, Customize. Clicked that and got a screen where I could move Download and other icons around by clicking on the icon, holding, and dragging. But that didn't get it on the toolbar. Finally, out of curiosity I right-clicked the icon to see what would happen. I got a small box giving me choice to Move to Toolbar. Clicked that. BINGO!!! Also figured out you can do same by clicking View/Toolbars/Customize, then right click any icon you want on Toolbar and put it there. Thanks for starting me in right direction.

Why was the LINK (chain) button removed from the piano roll? This makes Logic X useless to me as I can no longer compose or perform new lines based on previous midi performances. PLEASE BRING IT BACK!

I miss that button too and just filled out the LX Feedback form (Menubar -> Logix Pro X-> Feedback) with the following text. Maybe if you guys did the same, we had a chance revive this essetial feature!!!

it seems as if the Link Button (Yellow chain symbol) has been removed from the piano roll for no reason. In Score View it is still there.
I (and probably more users) absolutely NEED that Button to decouple the content of the piano roll from the selected track/region AND to use multiple piano roll windows with independent content.
- For transscripting (Mute/Solo Audio regions while editing a Midi-Region)
- For arranging. Edit 2 different midi regions both in separate Piano Roll windows
- For recording. "Reading" Drum-Patterns while recording the Bass e.g.
Please bring that button back or explain why it was removed

Which updates were you trying to get? If you are going to a very busy web site or server, the connections could be extremely slow. But to wait so long invites troubles.
If the machine is terribly slow, that should be an indication some maintenance or repair may be needed first. Some keyboard shortcuts can be used to check and attempt repair, and the problem likely is in the Mac.
Everything from the amount of RAM installed, to the total capacity of the HDD (or SSD) vs free or unused space on the drive, is important to the function of the OS X. Or there may be an issue, if the OS X checks out OK, in the internet connection. If you use wireless mostly, check the connections by wire instead.
Try to not get into a position where you end up using 'force quit' if the computer appears to freeze up. In the process of an update or upgrade, that's almost never a positive outcome.

Why was the extended star schema scrapped?

Hi,
BW on HANA takes out the dimension tables and gives us back the original star schema structure.
Now my questions are
- How did the original extended star schema help the old BW on oracle or DB2 systems? I mean what was the need for such a design
- If it offered some kind of optimization .. then why was it scrapped in BW on HANA? Couldn't it have added on to the performance that HANA DB brought?

Why was the swype-right gesture to show opened tabs removed?

In previous versions of Firefox for Android you could swype the screen with 2 fingers to the right, and it would show a list of opened tabs. That design was smooth and very easy to access.
Why was this removed?
Is there any swyping equivalent for new version of tabs on top?

For me it was more intuitive and easier to browse and see all tabs.
But if everybody says otherwise, I'll have to adjust =)

The current one shows only few items, it´s hard to see how many tabs are open and while I'm browsing them I don't know where exactly I stand.

I have a similar problem and have spent three sequential days at the Apple Genius Bar before we were able to exclude most other possibilities and found that certain files (in my case all mp3s from CDs I own) that play just fine in iTunes 11.0.1 and that used to play in iOS 6.0.1 do not play in iOS 6.1. We restored the phone to factory settings and synced only a few of the music files that were problematic. They still did not play. We reproduced the problem on my iPad mini (iOS6.1).
Apple Telephone Support suggestion was to convert all mp3 files in iTunes to AAC (which according to Apple Website may degrade sound quality). No further suggestions or escalation but a recommendation to place comments on www.apple.com/feedback and, if there are enough complaints, someone at Apple might take an interest in this problem. Something has changed in iOS 6.1 where files that played on prior mobile system software no longer work.
Apple, please pay attention to this glitch with iOS 6.1.

Why on the Smart Playlist options more limited on Mac's iTunes vs. Windows iTunes? kind of Ironic?

I have been using iTunes since the iPod mini was introduced! Over the years I have been a huge fan of making smart playlists! However the funny thing is... is that up until this year I have owned a PC and now that I own a MAC it is ironic that its version of iTunes LIMITS the options you have to make Smart playlist. The option that says "Match the [then you choose] following [or] all rules:" is only given at the top of the list of parameters. Where os on the PC version you can assign a parameter at the beginning starting with "Match all rules:" followed by something like "Rating... 5 stars" then you can choose "Match the following rules:" follows by a series of parameters; such as list various artists. This allows you to customize a playlist of your favorite song by some of you favorite artists. This is just one example... The "Match the 'following' vs. 'all' rules" (at any point in the sequense of rules, not just at the beginning) has really added to the dynamics (a new dimesion, if you will) of how I listen to music over the years. It is kind of wierd that such an option does not appear available in iTunes on Mac computers.

It's still there on the Mac. As with many things on the Mac they kind of hid this feature. When making your smart playlist pressing the Alt/Option key on the keyboard will switch the "+" button to a "..." button to add another "Match" rule.
