Why wayland? from a users view

Hello
So far I have understood that wayland will replace x.org server as rendering protocol. I have understood that from a developers point of view, it is much simpler to maintain and relate to as an developer of the applications that speaks directly to the rendering protocol etc.... BUT....
What advantages does it present for the end user?

Wayland isn't for the end user. End users aren't going to drive the switch; it's not like upgrading to Windows 8 -- you don't have to sell the product to end users who are buying it. The buyers are the developers who maintain distributions and write software. The fact that end users will get it too is a side effect.
Few end users care about Xorg. They care about applications like Facebook, Netflix, Steam, Minecraft, Skype, etc. but not about Mono, Flash, Java or any of those other technologies; they'll upgrade when the developers force them to.
I use my computer mostly for browsing the Web and the occasional game. Weston+X is too much hassle for me; that's why I use Arch to begin with -- it frees me to focus on stuff I do care about. But I look forward to using it when it matures a bit.

  • How to remove tasks from a users view

    Hi,
I have the following scenario where two tasks feed into an OR then onto another
task. All these tasks are executed by the same user.
    Stage 1:
Task 1 and Task 2 shown on the task list
    Stage 2:
    Execute Task 1
    Stage 3:
Task 2 and Task 3 shown on the task list
    Stage 4:
    Execute Task 3
    Stage 5:
    Task list empty
Now I would have expected at Stage 3 to have only seen Task 3 in the list as Task
    2 is no longer permissible/required.
Is this possible from the Studio?
    Any advice appreciated

    Hi,
Maintenance view will be created for database tables only.
Just display the maintainence from SE11 and click Tables tab in the screen
Here you can find the list of tables used to created for Maintainence view.
YOu can use these tables to write SELECT.
If you give us the maintainence table, we will help you.
    Thanks,

  • LDAP groups from User View

    Hi All,
Can anyone tell me how I can retrieve the LDAP groups from a User View? When I retrieve a user View I don't see where the LDAP groups are located on the View. Is there an attribute I'm missing or is there an alternative mechanism to retrieve the LDAP groups from a User view?

In the user view, you will have to customize the user view form per documentation. Add a multi-select field if editing, or a list/text area using the ldapGroups from the resource. You can find more on ldapGroups in the documentation for resource adapters. Sample code also helps.

  • User View is not reflecting the source data - Transparent Partition

We have a transparent partition cubes. We recently added New fiscal year details to the cube (user view as well as source data cube). We loaded the data to the source data cube. From the user view, we tried to retrieve data, it shows up 0's. but the data is availble in the source data cube. Could anyone please provide the information what might be the issue?
    Thanks!

    Hi-
If u haven't add the new member in the partition area, then Madhvaneni's advice is the one u should do. Because, if u haven't add the member, the target can't read the source.
If u have already added the new member in the partition area, and still the data won't show up, sometimes it's worth to try re-save the partition, and see what's the outcome.

  • I have recently transferred data from my old Mac to my new one. The result was good, but I have 2 users now, whose data I want to merge into 1 single user, so to avoid having to switch from one user to the other to view and use certain files. How to do it

I have recently transferred data from my old Mac to my new one. The result was good, but I have 2 users now, whose data I want to merge into 1 single user, so to avoid having to switch from one user to the other to view and use certain files. How to do it?

    Here's an easy way:
Pick the user that you want to eliminate (making sure that the remaining user has administrator privileges) and move all of the data that you want to keep into the Shared folder. Reboot or log out and login to the user you want to keep. Copy all the data from the Shared folder into your account - placing it neatly in folders (Documents, Music, Movies, etc.).
Once the data is moved, log into the account you want to delete just once more to make certain that you've grabbed all the data you want to keep. Log out and log back into your admin account and go to System Preferences>Users & Groups and delete the 'old' user.
    That should do it.

  • Why is a new user account created every time I upload files from my old PC. Can't you just use the same user account all the time?

I'm a new Mac user and am finding my way slowly around it. One question: why is a new user account created every time I upload files from my old PC?

Because you're using the Migration Assistant, and it can't migrate data to an existing user account. Transfer everything at once or use a different method.

  • Any user complaints re: OS X Mavericks. Why change from OS X 10.8.5?

See many user complaints re: OS X Mavericks. Why change from OS X 10.8.5?

    Reasons to upgrade:
Mavericks is flawless on my mac.
    Mavericks seems faster than 10.8.
    iBooks
iCloud keychain (big plus: my passwords now sync between OSX and iOS).
There are a few things to be aware of before you install it, though:
Any new OS has some bugs and incompatibilities with old software and hardware. If you are uncomfortable with basic Mac troubleshooting, then perhaps waiting would be a better strategy. However, I didn't have any software issues with installation or after.
If you have any mission-critical software or peripherals, make sure they are compatible first.
Mavericks does not play well with some old/bad software:
Crapware: anything that purports to "clean", "monitor", "protect", or "accelerate"  your mac. Unnecessary on Macs and often harmful. Examples: CleanMyMac and MacKeeper (the King of Crapware).
antivirus software. Of dubious benefit on Macs.
"haxies": apps that change the appearance of the GUI.
The vast majority of disgruntled Mavericks-haters that post on this forum have crapware and antivirus software and other dreck on their macs that they are very reluctant to part with.
Mavericks does not play well with WD hard drives: this is because the software that comes on the drives, and the software that comes with the drives that WD wants you to install on your mac, and in some cases the firmware that is built into the enclosure of the external drive, are all incompatible with Mavericks. None of the software is necessary. If you have a WD drive, you should:
reformat (erase) it before you use it with a Mac
if you have installed WD software on your Mac, uninstall it. It's unnecessary anyway.
research it on line to see if it has the incompatible firmware on it. If it does, and you just bought it, I'd return it.
Before you install Mavericks, it's a good idea to:
have a good backup, like with Time Machine
make sure you have enough RAM. The specs say 2GB, but 4 is probably a more realistic minimum. If you do memory intensive work, you'll want more.
uninstall Crapware. This can be a problem because one of the hallmarks of crapware is that there is usually no uninstaller. It can also damage your OS and be difficult to uninstall completely. You may have to reformat (erase) your HD and do a clean install to completely get rid of it.
    uninstall antivirus software and haxies.
repair your hard drive and permissions with Disk Utility
boot into safe mode, and then run the installer Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?

    hi friends
how to hide ribbon from all item view of particular list for specific user group.
    using OOB functionality or javascript.

    Hello,
Use this codeplex tool to hide ribbon to user group:
    http://spribbonvisibility.codeplex.com/
If you don't want to use above tool then you have to add SPSecuritytrimming in "Rajiv Kumar" code for filtering based on user group permission.

  • All Data not getting viewed from one user

    Hello,
I have created a user named "ABC" in SAP and have given full authorization to that user.
But while logging through that user and viewing the Sales Order all data are not viewed through the form as i haven't
defined Data Ownership for that user but still i am not able to view all data from that user login.
Please suggest  what i have to do view all data from that login.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Amit

    Hello Amit,
Data ownership authorization would not be override by general authorization.  If this user has not been assigned for data ownership authorization, the sales order may not be available to the user.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

1.why can't apple user share or take data from Andriod?

I was able to easily move all my data from my Android phone to my iPhone when I switched. But, that could be, because, instead of complaining, I actually asked questions that made sense, listened to the answers, did some reading and figured it out.
