Hi Amol,
DP is the demand planning machine, here you estimate your forecast (future sales).
The MRP is a supply planning machine, here you use estimate the replenishment.
Both machines in a technical perspective are independent one each other. Now in a business perspective they are not: The problem that you will have if you don´t clean your MRP elements is not a problem in DP itself. I mean, you can have a very success implementation in DP, your forecast accuracy will be very good.. and you will get a very good forecast, but when the MRP run and estimate the replenishment, the effort that you made in DP will not be translated in good results and your planning situation will be still not good.

Hi Praveen
There are several ways you can connect a DP system to a TPM. How are your interfaces and systems setup?
Option1:
Extract the baseline from APO to a BW cube, extract the data out of BW, may be using infospokes/open hub and pass it on to TPM.
2. Have a custom program written in APO-DP to extract the selected keyfigure data at the aggregation level into an interface or a .txt file into APO directory and use some data transfer service such as EDI to take this data and send to TPM.
In my experience it is simple to define an integration process. The much larger and complicated aspects are the date adjustments and the aggregation levels.
Date adjustments:
Understand the basis of the data in APO and TPM. APO is usually at the requested delivery date or material availability date ( when the customer like a store wants the product). However TPMs are usually at the consumption date ( when an end customer like you and me but from store shelf). Depending on the product and business style this can mean several days difference. Let's say it is 25 days on average, you need to add 25 days to APO base line date to get the TPM consumption date.
Aggregation level:
This can be product or customer. If the planning in DP is at product sku level and the TPM is at packs or brand level, you need to aggregate the data up before loading to TPM. The same with customer.
To me the most complex part of the integration is to understand and transform the data in a meaningful way and a strategy to sustain this integration by keeping both DP and TPM in sync in terms of master data. Also important to have a process for identifying exceptions and failures. you send baseline from DP to TPM and if it fails, how do you know? how do you trouble shoot?

APO Demand Planning realignment and BI

Hi experts,
I need to handle realignment process done in APO Demand Planning area in order to get data consistency in BW.
All I can tell you is that my idea was to get data from datasources created on Planning areas but I don't know how that realignment process impacts on information taken to BI.
As Demand Planning information changes from week to week(as guys in APO side do their forecast) we need to take snapshots to BI. My concern is how to manage realignment in this scenario. should we take a different approach to upload data to BI?.

The book SAP SCM by Daniel C Wood is reasonable. Not all the detail, but touches on DP, SNP and PPDS and if you use this in conjunction with the online help for the latest release.

Am making my guess based on whatever little I know;
PCLn are file systems and not a traditional (RDBMS) table system. Each File may contain one or more data clusters. SAP Defines data clusters thus -
A data cluster is a grouping of several data objects. Elementary fields, field strings and internal tables can be grouped in a data cluster.
Example:Clusters B1 and B2 in files PCL1 and PCL2 are relevant to time evaluation, as is cluster PS, which stores the generated schema.
The reason why file system of data storage is used instead of DB Table system may be for the purpose of storing voluminous data (Payroll and time) and ease of retrieval during processing (RDBMS may hv tough time in this). Also probably because of SAP's origin from Mainframe.
Why data clusters are used -? Probably data clusters are an offshoot (or part) of File system
Pls feel free to contradict the above. Actually DB experts can throw more light on this..

Why we are using servlet as a controller instead of Jsp?Basically JSPs are suited to do just one thing, to generate HTML with variable content. You can put Java code in there too, but it's not a good place for it. Messy to validate, messy to debug. In fact, with tag libraries like JSTL, actual Java code is rare in professionally written JSPs.
A controller does the bit that comes before you've decided what kind of response the user is going to get, typically it may invoke one of several JSPs according to validation etc.. There's a lot of logic, a lot of parsing parameters and so on. Much cleaner to do this from a Java class like a Servlet.
Judging by this forum quite a lot of people come to JSPs from ASP or PHP and don't want to bother with actually writing Java classes. That's never going to be much good.

Because one of your developers or DBAs thought it would be neat to use an undocumented hint.Possibly, although Oracle support have recommended us use hints (such as NO_CONNECT_BY_FILTERING) on several occasions to work around bugs in CONNECT BY queries.
I also recall a specific recommendation to consider the NO_FILTERING hint in the Oracle error messages documentation when running out of temporary space in CONNECT BY queries, I'll see if I can find the link.
Not that I support the use of hints in production of course, just that there are some mitigating circumstances around CONNECT BY behaviour.

Why we are using SID in DSO when there we are using star schema in BI

can anyone answer me why we are using SID in DSO also, i mean what is the need of SID in DSO?

The reason basically is that the entire query api in BW is based on SIDs
If you look at a sql of a query that is generated when you run a report you can see this
Example..
If you put a selection of period = 02.2009
In the SQL you will not see "where period = 02.2009" you will see "where sid.period = '000100001010" or something like that
The whole query is like this for Infoproviders of DSOs and Infocubes
Yes it is annoying - but that't the way it is..
So if you have a DSO you wish to report on you need the SID for the SQL to fire..!
On an operational daya to day side - if my cubes are 1:1 granularity with my DSOs then I prefer to put SID activation on the DSOs - two reasons
1. so the cube load is quicker because the SID generation has already taken place (is this important? never sure but I always do it)
2. future use of the DSO as a reporting object (this was before the days of the operational store as part of a LSA structure)

Also to provide security and trust your publisher. If there is no certificates with form then you might face problem with publish popup. To verify all publishers for your template, just open any infopath form-->select options from file menu-->then
click trust center-->trust center settings. You should see all certificates which are allowed.
