Why we use different clients in production?
Regards,
Subhasish

Hi,
You usually will have only one client in production.
Its in either QA / DEV environments you will have multiple clients.
DEV - You have one for Config and once for custom development

  • Different Client Versions in OWB 9i and 10g

    Hi,
Our client is using 9i OWB Client Software, and we are planning to use OWB10g Client Software on Windows Platform.
Will there be any compatability issues while moving from 9i OWB Client Software to 10g Client software.
And what are other parameters we need to consider, if possible please mention any documents links available.
Kindly let me know the pros/cons in this model .
Here my main question is will there be backward compatibility, i.e repository in 9i database need to connect by using the OWB 10g client?
    With Regards,

    Hi,
you cannot use different client versions on the same repository. If you want to use owb 10g, then you have to upgrade the repository to 10g. Then you can only use 10g clients, owb 9i clients cannot connect to that repository.

  • How to make Oracle Developer Suite use different Oracle client version

    Hello,
    I have installed Oracle Developer Suite 10g (9.0.4) on Win7 32bit
When I run Oracle Forms or Oracle Reports or any DB tool (like SQL Navigator or PL/SQL Developer) and trying to connect to remote Oracle DB 10g (10.2.0.5.0) I get an error ORA-02248: invalid option for ALTER SESSION.
Then I've installed Oracle Instant Client 10.1.0.4.0 and made DB tools use this client and error was gone, but I still get that error using Forms and Reports.
So my qustion is, can I make Oracle Forms and Reports use any other Oracle Client but that was installed with Oracle Developer Suite? Or any other suggestions are welcome how to fix connection issue in Forms and Reports?
I have read many threads and some suggested to set NLS_LANG. Done that, but it didn't help :(

The better question is why are you trying to use an obsolete Oracle product on such a new OS and expecting it to work properly? Are you also using MS Office 95 on this machine? Attempting to hack a solution is fine if you are just learning to use a product or just playing around. However, I would never recommend attempting to do what you are doing.
Oracle Forms 9.x was desupported years ago, long before Windows 7 was released. Trying to use it in this manner is risky at best and not something that should be done in a professional environment. If you are a student or just home user trying to learn on your own, I would recommend that you use a virtualization product like Oracle Virtual Box and create a vm of an older OS. For example XP, then install on that platform. If you are a licensed user of Win 7 Pro or higher, I believe Microsoft is still giving away (for free) "XP Mode". Details here:

  • Why is FrameMaker using different CYMK/RGB values for Pantone library colours compared with Illustrator?

    Evening all -
this is by no means the first time I'm banged my head against the colour management brick wall, and I doubt it will be the last
I am running Frame 12 and Illustrator CC on Windows 7.
Both these Adobe products ship bundled with Pantone libraries. (Correct me with I'm wrong, but these "libraries" are basically a bunch of look-up tables, mapping named Pantone colours to various CYMK, RGB, etc equivalents?)
Can anyone tell me why these two different Adobe applications appear to give different definitions for the same Pantone colours?
For example, if I choose the Pantone Coated library > 'Warm Red'
In Illustrator CC (left screenshot), it offers this as C0% M87.4% Y79.9% K0%
    in FrameMaker 12 (right screenshot), I get C0% M79%  Y91%  K0%
    Why are they different?
Are the library definitions shipped with the products simply different?
    Frame's dialog ominously mentions "© Pantone, Inc., 1986, 1988"
And if I go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker12\fminit\color and open the corresponding .bcf file in an editor, the header says:
"BCF 2.0PANTONE¨ Coated 1.1 ©Pantone, Inc., 1986, 1988.PANTONE¨* Computer Video simulations displayed may not match PANTONE-identified solid color standards.  Use current PANTONE Color Reference Manuals for accurate color.  To order publications from Pantone, Inc., in the U.S. please call the toll-free number (800) 222-1149 [within NJ, call (201) 935-5500].  In other countries contact your local Pantone representative.  *Pantone, Inc.'s check-standard trademark for color.[1]"
whereas if I go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC\Presets\en_US\Swatches\Color Books and open the corresponding .acb swatch file in there, in amoungst the hex gibberish I note it says:
    "=$$$/colorbook/PantonePlusCoated/title=PANTONE+^R Solid Coated/$$$/colorbook/PantonePlusCoated/prefix=PANTONE *$$$/colorbook/PantonePlusCoated/postfix= CK"$$$/colorbook/PantonePlusCoated/description=Copyright^C Pantone LLC, 2010"
Have Pantone perhaps changed their colour definitions between 1988 and 2010?
(I'm thinking it would be sensible to establish this one way or the other before we get into any convoluted discussions about the Windows GDI etc etc)

    David,
What options did you use for defining the colours internally and what options for output in AI? I suspect that if you examine the EPS file you created from AI for the Panotne 355C, the only values in there are the CMYK ones - no LAB nor RGB. So FM has to use the algorithm mentioned in the other thread and creates the lime green based upon the algorithm. If you have set the AI drawing to an RGB color mode and set the EPS export option for "Include CMYK Postscript in RGB files" to OFF, then you would get the desired RGB values in the EPS file.
If you're so intent on using Pantone Spot colours to get RGB, then you can create your own ACF library file with the exact RGB definitions that you want (you can then use whatever values you get in Photoshop, Illustrator or whatever source that you're trying to match). The structure of the file is as follows:
    ACF 1.0
My Color Library             <----  name of library
    LibraryVersion: 1.0
    Copyright: © 2014 <your name here>. All rights reserved.
AboutMessage: User defined Spot colours for RGB
    Names: Partial
    Rows: 4
    Columns: 4
Entries: 1           <---- number of colours in file
Prefix:         <---- used for display in FM, e.g. "Panotne"
Suffix:           <----- used together with prefix, e.g. "CVC, CVU, etc."
Type: Process <---- Spot, Process, Tint, Mixed (need to add specifier to Data lines)
    Models: CMYK RGB
PreferredModel: RGB     <---- whatever you want
    Data:
    0.98 0.11 1.00 0.02              <---- CMYK values (0-1)
    0 38143 19967     <---- RGB values as 16-bit, i.e. 16-bit = ( [RGB value (1-255)]*256) + 255; zero is still zero
Spruce Green                   <---- name of colour
The acf file needs to be installed in the fminit\color folder.
Also, a note of caution, If you screw something up in the acf file (like the incorrect number of entries in the file or you're missing a component value, this will hang FM if you use the View > Color > Definitions... option. You'll need to kill FM, fix or remove the ACF file and re-start. Also, FM only reads the libraries at the start, so if you need to make any changes to the ACF definitions, you have to r-start FM for those changes to take place.
[I know, FM doesn't make it easy, but it can be done...]

  • Why are 2 different date formats being used in thunderbird?

  • How can we tell the client that use process order or production order (proc

    Dear guru,
My question on what reason we can tell the client that u have to use process order or production order .
On what scenario we suggest client that use process order or production order

    Hi,
Process manufacturing is primarily designed for the chemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage industries as well as the batch-oriented electronics industry
Discrete manufacturing is u201Cthe production of distinct items such as automobiles, appliances, or computers,u201D whereas process manufacturing covers u201Cproduction that adds value by mixing, separating, forming, and/or performing chemical reactions. It may be done in either batch or continuous mode.u201D
Letu2019s think about what your company manufactures. Does it require mixing chemicals? If so, you may need an ERP system that does things like calculate ingredient quantities.
If your company assembles products from many component parts, youu2019ll require discrete manufacturing functionality
    Other approach:
If the finish good cannot return back to its basic components, your manufacturing is Process. For instance, the finish good is a can of soda. It cannot return back to its basic components such as carbonated water, potassium benzoate, aspartame, citric acid, and other ingredients. But if the finish good is car or computer, your manufacturing process is Discrete because it can be disassembled and the parts, to a large extent, can be returned to stock. Therefore Bill of Material (BOM) of discrete manufacturing consists of component parts for assembly while Process manufacturing consist of formulas, recipes and other ingredients
Process manufacturing is scalable. If a formula calls for 1,000 pounds of cake flour, but you only have 500 pounds, you can still bake cakesu2014just not as many. Conversely, in discrete manufacturing, one missing part means waiting for it before the finished assembly unit can start rolling off the production line
The obligatory requisite for process manufacturing is Lot Potency and Shelf Life where as discrete manufacturing values Serial Numbers, ECNu2019s and assembles.
If it is discrete manufacturing ---go for Production order
If it is process manufacturing ---go for process order
    thanks and regards

  • Using different jacob.dll verions parallel on the same PC-Client ?

    I need to work with Windows7 Client and IE-Browser with SunJava-Plugin 6_u29
    against
    a WLS 10.3.5 / Forms 11.1.1.4 application
    alternately with
    the 'old' AS10g / Forms 10.2 - version
that works ok except using client_OLE2
I found, the reason is the different jacob.dll
in forms 10g and forms 11g
for using 10g the jacob.dll is in JRE6/bin-folder
for work with WLS the jacob.dll is in the folder c:\webutil
    defined from install.syslib.location.client in webutil.cfg
is there a way to work on client different with both jacob.dll ?
    a) can I define & using different search-Pathes ?
    b) is there a Jacob.dll -Version for running on both AS 10g and WLS 10.3.5 ?

That's true... you can use whatever combinations you like, but the Oracle certification represents what they have tested and will guarantee to work. If a certified configuration does not work correctly, a bug can be filed against the issue and usually be corrected. Uncertified configurations are technically not entitled to support or bug filing. In some cases, Oracle may support it, but they are not required to.
As for what I mentioned regarding Jacob, I do know that technically, unless you are using the versions I mentioned (of Forms) you will not be able to accomplish what you want... at least not in a supported manner. By using the Forms patches I mentioned, you will be able to custom set the client destination directory of the libraries, which I believe is what you wanted in the first place. However, the result of installing those patches requires that you upgrade to Jacob 1.10.1 in order to be compatible with the Forms upgrade, which is the same version used by Forms 11.1.1.x. So, in this case, even though patching will let you customize the target directory, you won't need to do that because both versions will be using the same Jacob version. That said, if you have Win7 client machines, those patches and new jacob version will be needed to overcome some Win7 security restrictions.

Do you use header caching? It can accelerate remote imap access, but is disabled by default. Also playing with imap_idle (yes, if server supports), imap_keepalive (low) and timeout (high) may produce nice results.
i've tried everything (always caching, and setting various imap_* options).  trust me.  it's funny, it wasn't bad at first, then one day i'd hit j/k and 3 seconds later the indicator would move... that's when i set up offlineimap.
I'm very happy with this maildir setup now .  thanks anyway tho.
OMG, mutt is flying right now! Even with header and message cache is mutt + imap not the fastest. I reccomend offlineimap for everyone.

The two IP limit not withstanding, the EULA for ColdFusion prevents you from legally using Developer Edition in any production environment.  Using it for development is fine, though.

Question. Why don't the apple company ever make a memory card that people could use for their apple product just in case customers run out of memory on their apple product?

One thing the iPad lacks is a file manager. There is no file explorer native on the iPad. If you started adding plugin cards, then you add the need for that.  And, in PC's, most viruses spread via the file explorer (the definition of a virus is a malicious program that propagates itself across multiple programs)
There are a few drives out there for iDevices. Such as the WiDrive and others.

Why is my amount of 'space used' different from my Creative Cloud Files Folder size? CC is telling me I'm using 93% (18.6GB of 20GB) but my CC File Folder only contains 13.42GB?

Have you checked the "Archive" section on the Creative.adobe.com website ?
When you delete the files then they are moved to the "Archive" from where you can delete the content permanently.
Clear the Archive section and then check.

  • Why to use 3rd party ftp client

why not using the one in iweb?

There are 3 reasons to use a 3rd party ftp client:
1 - if you intend to use the freeiWeb SEO Tool to add Google Analytics, image alternate titles or other metadata to the site's files. This requires publishing to a folder first and you'll need a 3rd party ftp client to upload from there.
2 - if you intend on using a web site optimizer like Web Site Maestro which also requires publishing to a folder first.
3 - if you experience problems using iWeb's built in client. Some users have reported problems with iWeb's client and switching to a 3rd party client like the free Cyberduck solved their problem. Just a matter of need.
If you don't need to add metadata or optimize your site and iWeb performs as it's intended then there's no reason to use a 3rd party client.

  • Question on running multiple clients in production

We have a question that hopefully someone might be able to clarify for us. We currently have a production SAP landscape consisting on 5 separate SAP clients running on five R/3 4.6c instances on RS6000/Informix and we are looking at alternatives around landscape optimization as part of a plan to upgrade to ECC6. One of the options we are weighing is to create a single SAP instance on 64 bit Windows 2003 Enterprise and SQL Server 2005, migrate the different clients onto the single system resulting in a single instance/multiclient configuration, and then to upgrade the consolidated server to ECC6. We have been researching the feasibility of this approach and it appears that it is a supported configuration (as per SAPNote 31557), however it is apparently not widely used and there are references to challenges with that approach. Wanted to see if anyone had experiences with this type of configuration and whether there are any specific showstopper issues that would make this unworkable as a solution.
Below is a list of some of the questions we are looking to address:
Can anyone cite a reference where a multi client single instance configuration was successful?
Can anyone cite a reference where a multi client single instance configuration was unsuccessful and the reason why it did not work?
Is there an upper boundary on the number of clients that can be supported in a productive multi-client instance?
Are there any specific issues with the CTS system that need to be considered
Are there any known issues with the ECC6 platform that need to be considered, especially with the potential deployment of a EP usage type and the J2EE stack?
Any known issues with upgrades after moving to a multi-client environment?
Were there any unexpected surprises (i.e. client independent objects that were not anticipated).
How was the issue of overlapping number ranges in different clients addressed?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
