Why we use Project system?

Hello Gurus,
I would like to know why Project system is use? (in what case we can implement this project system module?pl explain me with example.
Thanks in advance

hi,
another advantage of PS is that it is directly integrated with you FI, MM, HR and other modules you may have..
PS can be used to schedule, monitor and track projects in terms of schedules and dates etc... but you have also other software you can use for that such as Primavera or even MS Project..
however with PS, the costs and revenues that you have in the project directly flow into your accounting department and project related reports for management can be obtained..
also your material requirements for all projects in the company can be centralized for better procurement using MM module..
and various other advantages with the other SAP modules..

  • Why we use logical system

    dear all
i want to know why we use logical system .?????????????

    Hi Vivek,
Logical system is unique system id to communicate with each SAP Systems in ALE network
You can think the way , you will  receive ROLL Number or User ID from college / office even though you have a name your own . Same way sap system need a unique identifier . Most of the time it is followed by naming convention as <SID>CLNT<Clientnumber> . Looks like GPRCLNT100
If you go to Tcode SALE , then you will get the documentation as follows
    Logical Systems
The distribution of data between systems makes it necessary to identify each system as a unique logical system.
A logical system is an application system in which the applications are coordinated to work in one common database. In SAP terms, a logical system corresponds to a client.
The logical system is important in the following SAP areas:
Communication between two or more logical systems
ALE business process (e.g. Cost Center Accounting): defines the system in which a particular application is running. Only in this system can master data can be changed.

  • Billing for Project Systems without using Sales Orders

    Hello All,
We are using project systems in our project and we are not creating any sales orders for the same, however I am creating delivery using t-code CNSO and hence the outbound delivery is getting created, my question is can I create a billing document for this delivery and if yes how can I create the same.
    Kind Regards
    Atul

    Hi,
Yes you can create billing document for this delivery
    Make sure following pre requsites
In VOFA for your billing type assign document pricing procedure under account assignment/pricing tab
In XD02 for customer under sales area data >> Billing assign customer pricing procedure
And last in OVKK in combination of
sales organization + distribution channel + division + document pricing procedure + customer pricing procedure = Price procedure

  • Re: Internal Order & Project system

    Dear All,
Please can one give brief explanation of internal Order and Project system.
    1) What is the major difference Internal Order and Project system.
why some companies use Internal Order
why some coompanies use Project system.
    Thanks in advace
    Venkat.

    Dear Venkat,
Internal Order is Sub-module of controlling whereas Project System is entire module in SAP.
Internal Order will provide information related to cost posted to the order, budget, commitments etc. And in Project system module you can create various projects to analyze company's profitability.
Substitution between Internal Order and Project system is highly depends upon the size of the Project. Many companies may be using internal order instead of Project in order to trap the cost.
Project system will provide every minute information pertaining to the project. Whereas internal order will not be able dole out.
Companies in Real Estate can not substitute Internal Order with that of Project system. Project System module is both heart and brain for Real Estate industry. And companies in other Industries having small value and size of project can use internal order instead of Project system.
To conclude, Internal Order is narrow concept where Project System is an Ocean

  • Aggregating SD and Project Systems data

    Hi,
We are using Project systems and SD in R3 and I have 0PS_C04 activated for standard PS reporting. I now need to combine the PS orders and also the SD orders and report on the orders, costs and all create a common report.
Also, this report needs to have the customer information too.
Any help on this would be really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Vin

    Manga,
    The datasources are:
    1. 0CO_OM_NWA_1
    2. 0CO_OM_NWA_2
    3. 0CO_OM_WBS_1
    4. 0CO_OM_WBS_3
I have managed to get the customer data loaded based on the project name in the WBS.
Now the only challenge is to get the sales order loaded onto the same cube with the shipping and billing information to reflect the revenue and costs.

  • Problem regarding SAP Project System & Material Management

    Hello Experts,
please check our process as below:
Order confirms than sales order and project will create
material of BOM is assigned to any activity in project so these material (RM) will be procured and consumed
assign activity for all work done on material to produce FG or SFG.
confirm activity whenever any work done like fabrication done so confirm and its cost comes to WBS.
than we have to subcontracting process so dispach SFG from this and receive after activity done by third party.
than more work is done and confirm these activity. than after all work done we get FG in stock. than delivery from project.
We are facing issue in above business process of our client as below:
    1. process of subcontracting using project system as we are not using production planning. how we get any SFG for subcontracting process.
    2. if we confirm all activities and consume all Raw Materials than how we will get finished good in our project stock for delivery.
    3. after delivery from project how sales order affects with regards to completeness of this sales document.
    Please help for this.
Note: Remember we are not using PP cos customer require detailed report of these process and capacity planning etc.
    Thanks
    Sunil

    Hi Sunil,
Assume this is my project structure & attached components. I will procure this components externally. After GRN, This components will be issued to network with 581 Q movement type.
Now we need to assemble this raw material to produce our FG, As these SFG are in our project stock. What we need to do for assembly process through PS.
Also throw some light over benefit of using PS-BOM interface ( CN33 ) for attaching material components.

  • Internal Orders versus Project Systems

    Hi
My client is currently using WBS elements for capital projects.   Project System is not in scope; thus, we are trying to decide whether we should bring it in scope with limited functionality or use internal orders for capital projects. I'm writing a position paper describing comparison of using project system versus internal order. Can any one of you please help me in providing the differentiating points. And also can you please give a description of capital projects.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi,
To begin with Internal order is a cost object like the WBS elements and activities in the Projects.
For the capital Projects following are the Points that should Favor the PS as compared to Internal Orders:
    1. Time planning Possible
    2. Resourse Planning possible.
    3. Capacity planning and leveling possible.
    4. Cost planning is possible in detail.
    5. Material Planning possible.
    6. Budget planning is possible in detail for the various phases of the project.
    7. Cost and Budget monitoring is possible at the various phases in detail.
    8. For the long term projects the Cash management is possible.
    9. Revenue Planning and monitoring is possible in details.
Above all the PS is more flexible in handling all the project related issues than Internal order.
Now its upto one to use the functionality of PS to one's requirement.
In short PS module is like an Expert Doctor than a general physician.
    Hope its useful.
    Reward points if useful.
    Thanks..

  • Why do PDF's offset use decimal system other than Hex?

    Hi,
I  found PDF format's byte offset in xref table using decimal system other than hex ,so I feel it which is really special because many file format use hex offset,e.g. tiff,PE,etc.
so I want to know why PDF format's byte offset choose to use decimal system?
    Thanks!

Not a known problem. And the "already launched" problem points to an issue with Reader.
Please submit some samples with a bug report for Reader to debug.
Here is what the issue looks like (click to zoom) :
On the left side is the PDF file opened with no other instances of Adobe Reader open. On the right side is what the exact same file looks like when opened after another instance of Reader (displaying another PDF file) was already open.
It's as if the font rendering engine was incapable of multi-threading. Like Reader can only render the font properly if the PDF file in question is the only one it's got in RAM.
    Worth noting :
Opening a 2nd PDF file with distorted fonts does not affect the first open PDF. That one continues to display normally. Only every subsequent instance of Reader will have this issue.
Files were saved normally via Photoshop CS5, although this issue has been present for at least 2-3 versions if not more (only started saving PDF's around that time - it's quite possible this was ALWAYS an issue).
This is strictly a SCREEN RENDERING ISSUE. The PDF file prints to paper just fine with uncorrupted fonts no matter how it looks on-screen.
As mentioned earlier in the thread, this happens across multiple computers. Whether I create the PDF via Photoshop CS3 in WinXP or via Photoshop CS5 in Windows 7 on a completely different computer... it will have the same issues. Tried it at work, too -- miles away from home. Same issues. Graphic cards are also from different makes, and display the same issue.
This happens to every single font in the document, regardless of how common or obscure a font it is. In this case, it's Helvetica Neue.
Again, because this important : even if the fonts look distorted on-screen, they will print out on paper just fine. This is a screen rendering issue.
Default PDF settings, no layers, vector data non-rasterized.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can different working calendars be set and used in Project system

Actually we are going through implementation of SAP Project system, i would like to ask whether there is an option in SAP PS to set different working/factory calendars and use them for individual activity like Primavera. Because at some places there is 5 days working and at places 6 says working. Also holidays are different for different people/places. A uniform calendar for all activities can spoil the schedule of project in regard of planned finish dates when one enters a certain duration.
    Kindly clarify this for me
    Regards.

    Hi Abdul,
As a reference, go through this thread,
Factors Influencing Scheduling - Dates - SAP Library
In addition to this and as mentioned above by Saurabh, there are some good threads available that talk about this. The threads carry a good amount of information and am sure it will help you.
    Please search the forum.

  • CCMS is used for system monitoring , why should we use solution manage ?

CCMS is used for system monitoring , why should we use solution manage ?
Whats the relationship between CCMS system and SolMan?
    Thank you .

    hi,
I just want to ask a question. At our client we have solution manager and CCMS. There is data in CCMS I can extract, it is loading on BW side ok the same number of recs,  but the problem on CCMS cubes says there are the same number of record in the cube and also showing as the data is ready for the reporting. But when I run the report and view the data as listcube it is empty.
ANy of you have the situation like this cube say it has the data but when do th BEX or infocube contents the cube is empty nothing in there. The same thing is happening with hourly, 15 minute and daily cubes.
Anyhelp on this matter is appreciated

  • Why we use logger instead of System.out.println for debugging?

    Hi,
why we use logger instead of System.out.println for debugging?
    Regard
    Sankar

    Ya Basha,
    good question....
You can use the idoc method to transfer the data when you are having an interface between the sap system and the legacy system......
All the times BDC is not preferable like take the case you developed on upload program with bdc after some days your company thought to go for upgrade the sap vesion from lower version to upper version... in that upgraded version the application may change like sequence of fields or screens at that time you previous bdc program will not work here so u have to develop a new program and and you have to take the things into consideration again...
where as if you use bapi or idoc method it will support the upgradations...
in the case of bdc you have to take the data into flat files.... and then upload it to sap system after all the validations done some times the data which is in the flat file is confidential so there is no security if u take such data in flat file any user can chang the data even though if u maintain the data in application server super user can change the data
where is idoc is fully secured... you can easily establich the interface between the systems and once it is done you can transfer the data with full security because idoc r generated by a program... so there is no manual interaction.....
I think i gave some useful answer to you

  • BTE's used for project systems master data.

    Hi ,
Can anyone tell me what are the BTE's used for project systems master data.
    Tcode used are CJ01,  Cj02,  CJ20N,  CJ12,  CNMASS
When master data is changed or created BTE should trigger.
    Regards
    Subin

I don't think there are any open_fi BTE available for PS master data.
you can use classic subs/vals using GGB0 and GGB1 transaction codes.

  • Why Oracle10g uses System Rollback Segment....????

    Hi ,
    Just a wonder....!!!!
Why Oracle10g uses System Rollback Segment....and not System undo tablespace... since rollback segment as a method to rollback transactions has been depreciated.....?????
    Thanks.....
    Sim

System Rollback Segment is reserved for Oracle internal operation.
I believe it is used only by SYS and programs invoked using SYS authorization manipulating dictionary tables. In which case the complexity has been understood and managed over several generations of Oracle.
I suspect the system (manual) roillback segment will be very useful when creating a new database, which includes creating whole bunches of tables and views (updating whole bunches of internal tables), at which time no undo segment (or background process for automating that management?) exists.
Please point to the document or link that says rollback segments are deprecated.
Even now, manual rollback segments may be of benefit to specific programs and environments that run batch jobs managed by DBA whoy has studied them for a long time under specific circumstances.
But, just like the various SGA pools should be evaluated and potentially resized when workload changes, the rollback segment configuration needs to be evaluated and potentially resized when workload changes. Few DBAs have the knowledge or skill or time to do so - the automatic adjustments may be the best generic compromise.
