Why we use webservice/Qaaws in XCelsius.......

A small Doubt thatwhy we should use web service /Qaaws in Xcelsius and we can t use webintelligence tell me the diff btwen these twooo.. iam learner in xcelsius....

In which scenarios QAAWS or WEB INTELLIGENCE. OR LIVE OFFICE will be used ?
QaaWS tool is a product of Business Objects. They have provided this tool to get data directly from Universe.
We use QaaWS when we want to link up the data directly to dashboards. Its simple not many steps are involved in it.
If we have any in between calculation we cannot make them in QaaWS, like you cannot bring data in a Cross Tab format.
During such scenarios we use WEB INTELLIGENCE REPORTS to bring this data to Dashboard we use a INTERFACE
called LIVE OFFICE
In Typical Scenarios like we have a Financial Reports which refresh the data periodically (that means scheduled for Qtrly)
in such scenarios we cannot use QaaWS. For such circumstances we use Live Office and set it to bring buffered data.
If we further dig it LIVE OFFICE Supports the Contexts we can choose the path during object initialization.
Even we have some issues with LIVEOFFICE like you cannot username and password from excel level
where as in QaaWS its possible(we can avoid the Login prompt during runtime).
Through LiveOffice without Webis interference we can get objects directly from Universe.

Thanks Rich for quick answer.
But my problem is, I have a stand alone WAS without any RFC Function modules and dictionary structures, of backend R/3, on WAS which I wanted to map in my component.
I strongly believe that in case of stand alone WAS I need to have at least backend dictionary structures to begin with my design. I cant use wizard, as I dont have function modules on this system. I have to code for that manually..
So that is why, I was looking for Webservice option..

HTML is only for presentations like web pages. XML, however, is use to define a new language like XHTML that is for presentations. But there are XML based language that is not for presentation, for example, XLink which allows elements to be inserted into XML documents in order to create and describe links between resources. All in all, XML is a much powerful language than HTML.

Simplely put, SAX is a XML parser like DOM that is used to process XML data.

The problem of using webservice to transfer binary data

I want to use webservice to realize downloading file , and then I think we can to transform the whole file to binary data ,and then use webservice to deliver these datas to client. but there is a promble. When the file size is a bit large , such as exceeding 1.5M , then client will receive error report. How to solve this promble. Another I think when server transforming the whole file to binary data , It should apply for much memory , as large as the file. I think this is not a good solution . Any one can give me some ideas ? How to realize download file using webservice(the server is oc4j)

Dependent combo boxes using webservice

Hi All,
I'm trying to create a depended combo boxes using af:selectOneChoice, using webservice datacontrol. When i try to change the value of the first combo box which has hard coded values (eg. Continent), The depended combo box (eg.Country) is empty. (which is returned via webservice) When i again change the value of the first combo box, I get the corresponding values(Countries) generated. The very first time when a value is selected is not binded to the model. Why is this happening and how to overcome this issue. I tried using the value change listener and assigned the current value to binding but there was no change in the behaviour.

My MBP is Early 2011 but dunno why cant use mirroring with apple TV, the icon cannot be found. So cannot use mirroring.
I have follow trouble shooting , they recommend to go system preference -> display , thus can find out the mirroring icon if no mean it doesnt support. But according to the web, Early 2011 MBP should be able to use, dunno why.

Just realise I havent updated my OS to mountain lion and this is the reason why I cannot use mirroring before ^^

Image not displayed in html output used webservice to store in a location

we have used webservices to store the pdf and html outputs but the problem is when we are seeing the preview in the bi publisher we can see the image in pdf and html but when we run through webservices and see the output files that are stored in some location image in the html output is not displayed but in the pdf we can see the image.
i have used the direct insertion image option in the header section. is the problem because i have used the direct insertion.
can you give the idea how to import logo from an external location so that we can check the if it is problem with direct insertion or problem with the webservice as we are storing the output files outside the catlog but it may not be wrong because in pdf we can see the image.
I am not having any idea how to solve thsi issue..

Please state which BI Publisher version you are using.
In case it is 10g then please always test the application with the latest patch first!.
BTW today there is been a new patch 11846804 released for 10.1.3.4.1 (March 2011).

OK,
You have a database/application.
1. You might have had run the calculation( ie calc script).
2. after that , you might have loaded the data ,i.e you have infused new data and new data blocks.
3. For these new data blocks ,you have not run the calculation so far
4. so, now the intelligent calculation come into picture, with the help of the intelligent calculation concept, we can run the calculation on only the new data loaded or on only new data blocks,which you loaded
Hope this helps you in understanding the intellligence calculation in short.
One can enable and disable at his comfort ,and for that please refer to the following commands
SET UPDATECALC
SET CLEARUPDATESTATUS
this is to answer you intelligent calc.
1. when you load data into the parent level , it ll be stored at the parent level only.
2. when you go to "Dimension"' tab of the database properties, you can get which one is dense or sparse
3. in general ,you have a datafile ,and the upper most line is the one ,which has headers,so manipulate the same ,you use headers in the rule file.
I have not told you to refer DBAG , :)
But, you got to read DBAG or pick a bootcamp for you to understand further .

ADOBE FORMS using Webservice

Hi Experts,
I have a problem with Adobe Forms Using webservice. I created RFC where it saves data from Adobe Forms to a customized table and exposed it as webservice. From the SOA manager, I copied the generated link pasted in the dataconnection in Adobe Lifecycle designer, but whenever I generate the form I keep receiving this error:
"http:// erpwrk1.corp.com:8000/sap/bc/srt/wsdl/bndg_DFA46DE60CFOD33F19F21005056C00008/wsdl11/allinone/ws_policy/document?sap-client=001". Check that the path is correct and that the file is a valid wsdl file.
I already activated services from SICF in relation SOAP runtime. What could be the cause of the problem and how to fix the problem?

From the above posts, it looks like you have resolved the issue. But can you please let me know how did you resolve it ?
Did you check any SAP transaction to find the above mentioned checkbox?

Why cluster table:
Cluster tables combine the data from several tables with identical (or almost identical) keys into one physical record on the database.
Data is written to a database in compressed form.
Retrieval of data is very fast if the primary key is known.
Cluster tables are defined in the data dictionary as transparent tables.
External programs can NOT interpret the data in a cluster table.
Special language elements EXPORT TO DATABASE, IMPORT TO DATABASE and DELETE FROM DATABASE are used to process data in the cluster tables.
PCL1 - Database for HR work area; (long text, etc)
PCL2 - Accounting Results (time, travel expense and payroll); (payroll results)
PCL3 - Applicant tracking data;
PCL4 - Documents, Payroll year-end Tax data (change logs, etc)
