Why were all of my iCloud emails deleted?

Not only my inbox, but my saved emails, sent and drafts. Everything wiped itself out over night. I had some important stuff that I need back!

  • This morning I changed my Apple ID to my new email address.  I thought it meant that I could then use all my alias icloud email addresses with my new Apple ID because it would be the same account.  Why am I now not getting email to those addresses.

This morning I changed my Apple ID to my new email address.  I thought it meant that I could continue to use all my alias icloud email addresses with my new Apple ID because it would be the same account.  Since then I have not received and new emails to my iCloud email addresses.  Normally I get at least  7 new emails a day, so I'm pretty sure my iCloud addresses are not working.  It would be a lot of work for me to notify a lot of people, companies, and organizations about new email addresses, so I really would like to make them work.  Will it be possible to make them work with my new Apple ID?

Roger, I didn't know that "Delete Account" was synonymous with "log out".  Yes, I had deleted my iCloud account in my iPad email settings more than once yesterday and again one more time after I read your reply.  I then followed the instructions below to log off on my Windows PC.  I found these when I searched for how to log off of iCould:
    1- Go to www.iCloud.com
2- Sign in with your current login info
3- Click on your user name on top right corner
    4- Select account setting
    5- Select "Advanced."
6- Click 2nd option, "Sign Out Of All Browsers."
I also scanned settings for all the other apps on my iPad and changed a couple that still had my old sbcglobal email address. Later, I noticed that I was able to see my old previous iCloud emails in iCloud.com, and the couple of messages that I received from this Support Community site, but still no new emails.  Suddenly the emails started rolling in again this morning.  I have 7 new ones at the moment.  I sort of expected to get a backlog of emails from yesterday, but something tells me those were all lost as "undeliverable".  I don't know who or exactly what did the trick, but the issue seems to be fixed.  I'm using my new Apple ID, and I'm glad I don't have to get all new iCloud alias email addresses after all.

  • TS4002 icloud email deletes large blocks of text randomly

In a windows based environment, icloud email deletes large blocks of text randomly. So while typing emails, often the entire body of text is deleted randomly.  Any solution for this problem?

Thanks Tikibar1.  Sadly, I thought I had done my due diligence (search) prior to posting.  But, clearly not :-(   Yes, this pretty much describes my experience (in much more colorful and emotional tones ;-)
Will continue to follow the other thread and consider other more official channels suggested there (so I too can perform a factory reset :-(
    thanks again...

  • My Ipad and macbookair have been stolen. How can I find the imei code of both devices considering that were all registered on icloud?

My Ipad and macbookair have been stolen. How can I find the imei code of both devices considering that were all registered on icloud?

Unless you have configured iCloud on the MacBook Air and made sure that Find My Mac was turned on, you can't track that.  And even if you did do that, that is not a foolproof method of tracking, as it relies on the thief connecting to the internet using the guest account on the machine and not getting in to your account and disabling Find My Mac or wiping the hard drive and installing a clean system.
As for the iPad, similar rules apply there.  If it is a wifi-only iPad, it cannot be tracked any other way.  If it has 3G, your wireless carrier may be able to help you track it.

  • HT5621 Why I cant use my @icloud email? Does that means I need to get a Gmail account? ***

Why I cant use my @icloud email? Does that means I need to get a Gmail account? ***

You can't use your existing @icloud.com email address as the primary email address for your existing Apple ID.  You have to use a non-Apple email address (such as Gmail).

  • HT201342 Why would I want an iCloud email instead oh my mac,com address

I do not see why I need an iCloud email address if I have a mac.com address

Use whichever you want, there are no additional benefits to using either.

  • TS4009 I need to get a message to Apple, iCloud...having so many problem with it.  I just went in and deleted all of my iCloud emails, that just stay stuck there.  What has happened now is that it was synced with Yahoo.  I've lost all my yahoo mess. HELP!

I am so sorry that I ever signed up for iCloud. The only thing that ever worked is that I had two messages drop into iCloud when there was an open wifi connection.  It is synced with Yahoo.  It was taking up so much space as I had a lot of attachments, nothing sent, they just sat there, I had to cut and paste them into my Yahoo! account and send them.
Last nigth were were looking at the reason that my brand new Mac Air had ZERO memory. It was the iCloud messages that were stuck.  I then went in and deleted everything.  I have tried to turn iCloud off via a pull down menu.  Did not work.  I have now lost all of my sent and received messages in my Yahoo Account. My inbox is completely empty.  I believe I still have sent messages though.  These were messages that I had cut and pasted into Yahoo! to get them sent.  Now my Yahoo! is wiped out.
I am a writer.  I need those messages recovered.  I am an end user.  I need instructions in English on how to recover this.  If there is anyone that can help me, I am desparate.  I imagine Apple could retrieve them for me though there is no where to contact them.
I thought it was cool until, such time as I LOST EVERYTHING.

Lord K.  Thank you. Yes I am within the 90 time period, however I travel Intertionally and I can not receive not make a call to Apple. I was just at the Genius Bar in Chicago and they said, don't worry about it.  It just floats out there, however, I can not recover my messages on a flash drive. I need to go back to my old computer which I don't have with me.  My messages were in folders for a lawsuit.  It is going to take an incredible amount of work for me to, you have no Idea.  We are talking thousands of pages!  I the defendent will have them during discovery so I am not so worried.  However, I can not bring them to him on a Flashdrive when I meet with him without an extraordinary amount of presssure on my part.  THis is not just some little email issue. This is suing EXPEDIA and Tripadviosr.com

  • Why can I only see iCloud email from the last 4 months? Where have all my old emails gone?

I was trying to track down an old email from November last year and having used the search tool with no luck resorted to scrolling through the weeks. I then discovered to my horror that I didn't have any emails beyond 1/12/13 !!
I have subsequently checked online using iCloud and the results are the same. Where have all my emails gone? I have been a MobileMe member since it started and pay for increased storage - which I am no where near utilising - how can I retrieve the 'missing' old emails? I have many Apple devices and it appears they are mssing on them all....

You might want to go to icloud.com and open your calendar, then click the gear icon and choose Preferences, then make sure you aren't hiding old events on the Advanced tab.

  • ICloud emails deleting themselves...

Facebook worth $100b? This one is as mindboggling...
    Scenario:
Since I upgraded to iCloud from Mobile.me incoming emails to my me.com account are automatically deleting themselves every time mail is refreshed. Emails disappear from icloud.com, my iPad and iPhone, yet they remain in the Mail application inbox on my MacBook Pro.
    Background:
All three devices are running the latest OS.
I only have one iCloud account.
I haven't touched any settings within Mail.
I've tried deleting and reinstating the iCloud accounts on the iPad and iPhone.
I've restored data on the iPad and iPhone.
I've rebooted the iPad and iPhone.
I have been for a long walk...
There have been no changes to any settings on any devices since migrating to iCloud.
Apart from everyday rules allocating emails to various files, there are no rules set up in Mail to delete emails or similar (and nothing has been touched since migration).
Sent emails are successfully synching across all three devices.
Any ideas would be *very* welcome, cheers.
    Bill

Well, it turns out that Facebook can't sustain an initial $100b valuation after all; and maybe this problem isn't as mindboggling either...
Having tried various scenarious to see any made a difference, I found that when I quit the Mail application on the MacBook, the emails on the iPad and iPad stayed in place.
Although no new rules or filters had been put in place since migration - and none had ever been in place to delete emails - I tried removing all the rules completely.
Again, this worked, and all emails on all devices stayed in place.
However, as soon as any rule is installed, eg to put all emails sent to a certain address into a particular folder, the deleting problem starts again across the board.
I've reported the issue to Apple who have been helpful and they're investigating.
An inbox swollen with unfiltered email is far better than no email at all...

  • Why were all of my Favorites not copied to Bookmarks when I downloaded Firefox?

All of my favorites were not copied to Bookmarks. Only favorites A-H show up in my Bookmarks, the rest of them are not there. Why did it not copy all of my Favorites?

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.
*Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html):<br>File > Import and Export
*Import the HTML file in Firefox:<br>Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML
See "Import from another browser" and "Import from file":

  • Why Can't I Undo an Email Delete in Mail?

I'm running the latest version of Mountain Lion and my email is handled by Gmail IMAP through Apple's Mail.app.
If I accidentally delete an email in my inbox, there's no Undo available. The Undo command is grayed out in the Edit menu.
Why in the world can I not undo a delete in Mail??
    Thanks for any help.

I can indeed find the email in the trash, but like a lot of people I use my inbox as a kind of to-do list, so there are emails in there that are two or three weeks old. That means that if I accidentally delete one such message and I don't know which one I've deleted (and this has happened several times), I have to look through thousands of emails (inluding deleted Spam) hoping to spot the one accidentally deleted. Not practical. But thanks for the suggestion.
Apple should just fix things so there's a working Undo command.

  • Hey guys, I copied almost 600 pics to photo vault app. and they wer all saved to icloud. when i logged in another phone with the same apple id it again showed that 4.5 gb of the icloud was full of my pictures.but sudenly in sometime it startd showing 61mb

please help me out. those photos mean a lot to me . i need them back
    thanks

I had also thought that initially, but after turning it on, I went to sign into iMessage with my Apple ID and regular Apple ID password, but it prompted me to create an app specific password to sign in since I had two factor authentication on, as it wouldn't let me use my regular Apple ID password to log in (which I could use to log in for everything else but iMessage and FaceTime). It was nice since I was prompted to provide a code sent to an Apple device of my choosing when signing into the Apple ID management site or iCloud.com, but forcing me to create app specific passwords for iMessage and FaceTime is kind of ridiculous and frustrating. Maybe there's a way to have two factor authentication without the need for app specific passwords? Or if not, then perhaps that would be a great option to present users when turning that feature on.

  • I uploaded my pictures to iPhoto, and they were all imported. I then deleted them off of my camera. IPhoto suddenly shut down, and when I reopened it, the pictures were gone, but the album I made was there. Where might the pics be saved?

Just wondering if you guys know if the pictures may have been saved somewhere, or if I can find them in Finder, or anything similar. Any advice?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • How do I delete all ICloud emails at once?

It's ridiculous how difficult it is to find an answer to this problem. How do I delete ALL of my iCloud emails from my inbox on my iPad at once? I already know how to delete individual emails, but there is no "delete all" option anywhere under the edit screen. Apple.com's answer was to click on the first one and shift click on the last one. HELLO!!! There's no way to shift-click on an iPad in that screen. Crimony.

    Hey Koyster,
Great question. Utilizing iCloud.com, we may be able to purge these emails in a much faster way:
    iCloud: Delete email
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2651
    Delete messages
    - On your Mac, Shift-click to select multiple adjacent messages or Command-click to select multiple nonadjacent messages.
    - On your Windows computer, Shift-click to select multiple adjacent messages or Control-click to select multiple nonadjacent messages.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
