Why were my phone's iTunes songs erased?

I connected my iPhone to iTunes on my new laptop, but it didn't successfully connect because there was an error. (0xE8000012)
I looked it up on Google and multiple people said to delete a "Lockdown" folder, which I did, but it still didn't help.
Today I noticed almost all of the songs on my phone's iTunes app were erased.
What happened, and how can I get my music back? How can I get my iPhone to work with iTunes?

If you have music on any other device you can try a 3rd party app like Senuti to move it from that device to your iTunes library. Google Senuti and see if it fits your needs.
You will want to set your iTunes up for manual sync (that's what I do).
Then go to the device music tab and sync all music or specific playlists, I don't know what you had synced.
If the music was purchased then you need to fix that setting, so that iTunes Store can send you the music, and then resync and your purchased music will load.
So is your music purchased (we can help that) or non-purchased (only you can get that into the library)

Why should they give you things for free? How many other stores do you walk into that give you things for free? Apple has to pay the artists and record companies for those songs, so Apple therefore has to charge you for them, just as in the case with any store. Apple does in some countries offer a free "song of the week". Look to the bottom of the iTunes Store for the "free on iTunes" button.
As to sharing songs with others, that's illegal, just as it would be if you made a copy of a CD and gave it away. There are third-party apps in the iTunes Store that do allow some limited sharing of files such as photos via Bluetooth with other iPhones, so you might do a search of the iTunes Store for "bluetooth" and see what comes up. If you want to share with others not using iPhones, you'll need to look to some other service such as Dropbox, Flickr, etc.

HT201413 I am receiving the error code (-50). The original itune songs etc were installed on a win 7 32 bit system and I have now moved to a win 7 64 bit system. Is this why I get the error code? I can access the itunes store to view my account. Any ideas

Has the switch from 32 to 64 bit caused the problem? Is this why I get the error code? I can, however, access the itunes store to view my account. Any ideas please?

Why do songs i delete off of my iPhone redownload when i plug my phone into iTunes?

I have over 1000 songs in my Itunes library and I don't want every single one on my phone. When i first plugged in my phone, it downloaded all the songs onto my phone and I took the time to go through every single song and delete the ones I didn't want. but EVERY. SINGLE. time I plug my phone into itunes, they download all right back onto my phone! I have the setting "manually select music to iphone" so why does it do this? it makes me so mad!!

Sounds like you have the Sync all music box selecte on the Music Profile tab.
Manual sync only means that iTunes will not automatically start syncing when you hook the device up to it. However, when you click on the Sync (or Apply) button, it uses the profile you have set up to determine what to sync.
Hook up your device to the computer where your iTunes library is, and select the device when it displays.
To the right, you will see the Profile screens. Click on the Music one. Set it up to sync the specific music you wish. Once you have completed setting it up, click Sync (or Apply) and it will update your device with only the music you have selected.

I had the exact same issue!! Seriously p*ssed me off when I checked out my ITunes purchased items (via my computer) and noticed that most of the additional tracks listed on my IPhone playlist was listed there too. However, I never authorized any purchases!! (I have actually written Apple Support asking for a full refund of all tracks listed on my purchased list)
Be careful when you swipe your finger to the left/right on those "additional" tracks on your IPhone playlist... I'm pretty sure that the cloud symbol is an option to download or automatically buy those tracks.
Solution for the problem:
1 - go to your IPhone settings
2 - choose "iTunes & App Store"
3 - go to "Show All" & "Music"
4 - turn off "Music" by moving the bar to the left (it should be a white color once you turn it off)

HT204053 if i synch iPOD to iCLOUD and have songs stored in iPOD that were not purchased from iTUNES i assume a synch to the cloud will erase my non iTUNES songs? i tried this last year & this happened already & forced me to reload many songs. any solutio

I had this problem too after i upgdatd to OS X Mavericks... only the songs on my iphone 5s that i purchased from itunes would play.
i read something about it being a syncing issue. when you plug your phone into your computer with the usb cable, the person said to switch from automatic syncing of itunes to the "manual" option. mine was already set to manual so i wasn't sure anything would work. BUT, when i plugged my phone into my computer, it started to sync all of my music on my phone again (top of itunes bar where song playing/time is listed said "now syncing 123/534 songs to x's iphone"). once that was completed, i checked the music app on my iphone and everything was back to normal!
so, i would suggest setting your music syncing settings to manual if you haven't tried that yet!

This was NEVER a problem before iTunes match or the last iOS update. So what is the deal? Why can't i just add music to my phone from the mac? There is space on the phone. The only way I have found to get the music i want to the phone is to have it download from the phone. This is not something i want to have to do: go through and manually add every album and recreate a playlist on the phone when its there on the mac. And, even more irritating, since the new update, when the phone is plugged into the mac i can't actually view from the mac what music is on the phone. This is incredibly frustrating and any help would be much appreciated in managing my music libraries for each device.

You cannot manually manage music with match turned on on your iOS device. If you want to manage music manually, you will need to turn off match on your iPhone.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Hey, can someone help me, I have a Motorola V3i and it DOESNT have iTunes, and i was wondering if it was possible to put iTunes songs on it

All iTunes does is creates music files (assuming imported from a CD) in whatever format you picked, sticks them into a folder, and then provides a top level GUI to organize them.
So with that said, what format does your Motorola phone take? And do you have a way to put files onto the phone? If you can, then you simple need to take whatever iTune you want, make sure it is in the right format (MP3 for example) then transfer it to your phone however it is you put files onto it.
Now if you were hoping to have iTunes somehow talk to the phone and do the transfer, then I suspect the answer is no.

Paid for iTunes Match with almost 1400 songs in library. Only 815 were "matched" even though other songs from same album were greyed out and can't be played. WHY?????????
