You were, just not directly. If you go to apple's mountain lion webpage, you'll see this note at the bottom:

No that's not correct. Any apps that were working on your iPad in iOS 7 will still work on your iPad. You would only be downloading apps if you delete them from the device. Most apps are being updated for iOS 8 but that doesn't mean that they will not still work in iOS 7 or in iOS 6 for that matter.
What you cannot do is restore a backup from the phone to the iPad now because you cannot restore a newer OS backup to an older OS device. The phone is running iOS 8 now and that backup will not work on the iPad that is running iOS 7. Do not confuse the backup which contains app data and device settings, with apps that you download from the cloud.
You should be able to delete enough content to make room to download iOS 8, but frankly, since you have an iPad 2, you might want to give some more thought to it before you updates to iOS 8. I am reading some not so favorable reports from users that have the iPad 2 and updated to iOS 8. It is certainly your choice to make one way or the other, but you might want to do a little more research first.

I have the same problem, they never told me that, just that the newest version of Java "locks" up streaming quotes.

Uninstall Keynote; this must be done with an application remover tool to delete the installation properly. Appcleaner is known to work correctly for this purpose, it is free and can be downloaded from here: Appcleaner Download

Check the settings on your iPad:
1. "Settings > General > Restrictions"

It should work, but it's an unmitigated mess. Simplest is to boot into recovery mode and reinstall the OS.

I have a mac hooked up to an hp printer. i installed bonjour on my windows 7 laptop and it was able to install this printer via bonjour. yet when i click print on my laptop, nothing happens. on my mac, the printer queue doesn't open up and my printer does nothing.

IMAC mirroring is not working with my IMAC and Apple TV since last update

Hi friends,
since last update I am facing problems with my IMAC and airplay via apple tv to my HD TV screen. It is not working. Only audio but not video. I believe it has something to do with IMAC mirroring, which is not possible to select only expanded desktop. Airply on my TV is working with my IPAD, so it should be a problem with my IMAC only.
Did someone of You make the same experience or know what to do?

Mirror/Smartware not working with 2 Win7 computers; ultra slow, then stops backing up files

Have 2 Windows 7 Pro computers- HP EliteBook Laptop, custom built Desktop Have returned 2 WD MyCloud 2TB drives, & now this Mirror is having SAME PROBLEM- STOPS IN MIDDLE OF BACKUPS. Same issue on BOTH COMPUTERS.Windows 7 Backup/Restore DOES WORK working with the Mirror! This is really confusing! HELP! After working with Level 2/Advanced WD Techs for about a week, last one found errors in Event Viewer which led HP tech to replace Motherboard- it didn't recognize either drive- a SolidState OS drive, & HDD(D:\) drive even though it was booting & working ok until I ran SMARTWARE & started backups. The backups stopping after 10-15% was the ONLY indication anything was wrong. A number of WD Lev2 techs have claimed that it MUST BE A SOFTWARE ISSUE THAT SMARTWARE HAS with installed software; BUT! the desktop was just recently WIPED & Win7 re-installed! DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. Anyone have same issues? Know what could be, is the problem or have a SOLUTION? All WD techs are stummped- & do NOT support SMARTWARE problems to this extent, even though they did their best with what training they had, & what rules WD put on them, to do initial troubleshooting. They/WD is now saying I have to go out & purchase my own Backup software & try that. PURCHSE MY OWN BACKUP SOFTWARE? That was the reason I purchased WD NAS devices. Not 1 in 3 worked!

What is your network configuration and the specifications of your router? Do you encounter the same issue with WD SmartWare when using a hard-wired network connection?

As of Firefox 4.0 and newer one needs at least OSX 10.5+ and Intel hardware.
The latest you can use on your Intel with OSX 10.4.11 is Firefox 3.6.25 (released recently) which can be found at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
If you were to update to say OSX 10.5.8 then you can use Firefox 9.0.1

No, not unless you install Windows on the Mac.
A Windows app needs Windows. An OS X app needs OS X.
You can install and run Windows and Windows apps natively on an Intel Mac.
