WHY WHEN ENCODING THE SCREEN DOESN'T GO TO SLEEP MODE

I am using iDVD with my power house iMac i7 great machine by the way, but when it is encoding it won't take the screen to sleep mode, this has always happen with iDVD since i had my old intel core do 20 inch 2 gigahertz, and my last iMac had in burn screen, because of this problem, I am afraid that if this would happen again with my new iMac 27 inch what I do is put the screen brightness down to the minimum. But apple should consider to put a sleep mode button for the LCD panel on iMacs.

well my last iMac had one on the lower left corner and you could see it, it was some blotchy stain. like if it was an icon imprint but it didn't show any letters or it was define it look more like a black stain.

  • Z2 screen doesn't go intro sleep mode

    Dear all,
I have the phone for 2 weeks. At first i thought that my phone settings are off. But after spending some time on it and trying to apply different settings, i found that the problem still persists.
The problem is as follows: when i push the power button (or when i plug in the charger)the screen turns on. I have set the sleep time to 15 seconds, but the phone never goes into sleep mode. The screen remains on untill i press the power button to block it.
This is really troublesome because while keeping the phone in my pocket, the power button gets pushed, and when i take the phone out of the pocket, the battery is drained.
Ps. i tryed doing this with the "smart backlight control" on and off. There is no difference. The first thing i did when a received the phone was to make a software update.
    Any ideeas?
If i can't solve this, then the phone goes back to the shop.
    Thank's

  • How can I set my mac (and the screen) to not go on sleep mode ?

I just want my mac (and the screen) stay alive for a minimum of 8 to 10 hours, not going in sleep mode (or save screen).  Just displaying a web page without doing anything else. In preference system, energy save is all set to «never», but after a while the screen goes to sleep ... ?

You probably have a corrupt .plist file. To fix:
    1. Hold down the option key.
    2. In the Go menu in the Finder, scroll down to Library
    3. In Library, find Preferences
    4. In Preferences, find com.apple.systempreferences.plist  and drag it to the trash
    5. restart
    6. you will have to reenter your preferences.
Another option is caffeine: Lighthead - Caffeine

  • SCREEN DOESN'T GO INTO SLEEP MODE

    Try Settings>General>Auto Lock.

  • MacBook Pro doesn't go into sleep mode after connecting Thunderbolt display

    Hi,
after connecting a Thunderbolt display to the 2011 MacBook Pro 13", the system doesn't stay in sleep mode.
When pressing cmd.alt.eject it goes into sleep for 1 or 2 seconds and then goes back on.
everything works fine otherwise and the MacBook goes to sleep without problems if the Thunderbolt display is not attached.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jordi

    I found the problem.
It turns out that it has nothing to do with the Thunderbolt Display, but with Bluetooth and the Magic Trackpad.
When I installed the TD, I also added a wireless keyboard and Magic Trackpad that I had been using with another system.
If the option to allow the system to wake up by Bluetooth devices is enabled (system preferences, Bluetooth, advanced), the MacBook Pro will go to sleep and immediately wake up.
Simply disabled that option and everything works fine.
Now I need to open the lid of the MBP to wake up the system. Kind of a huge power button :-)
    Thanks for your help!

  • Why dosen't the screen turn when i turn the ipad

why dosen't the screen turn when i turn the ipad

If you see a lock icon in the upper right corner of the screen - then the screen orientation is locked.
Try the side switch above the volume rocker first and see if that unlocks the screen. If that doesn't do it, double tap the home button and swipe to the right and look for the lock icon all the way to the left.
If the screen is unlocked but still will not rotate, reset the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the button

  • When I turn my iPad the screen doesn't turn?

When I turn my iPad the screen doesn't turn- please help?

On the top (near the battery indicator) do you see a little circle with a padlock in the middle? If so, there's a slide switch by the volume toggles. flip that switch and see if it restores the accelerometer

  • When I turn my iPhone horizontally, the screen doesn't also turn

When I turn my phone horizontally, the screen doesn't turn.

Bring up Control Center by swiping up from the bottom of the screen near the home button.  Make sure the rotation lock is not locked.  It is in the upper right corner of control center (a circular arrow around a padlock).

I dropped my iphone and the screen has blue lines on it. Siri still works but the screen doesn't but the screen isn't cracked or shattered. What should I do?

Bring your phone and $199 to the Apple store for an out of warranty exchange of your phone.  You clearly broke it when you dropped it.

  • My iPad has locked so the screen doesn't rotate!? How do I un lock it?

My iPad has locked so the screen doesn't rotate!? How do I un lock it?

when you flipped the switch did the roation icon appear in the middle of the screen for a moment?
one thing you can also try is...
    Try doing a hard reboot
    1. hold the power and home buttons down
    2. you will see the "swipe to turn off" screen come up... KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTONS
    3. The screen will go black (turn off)... KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTONS
    4. A white Apple logo will appear on the screen, now you can release the buttons. Let the iDevice boot... should only take a couple minutes.

  • Screen refresh problem where data is entered and the screen doesn't refresh

Many people in the company are experiencing the odd screen refresh problem where data is entered and the screen doesn't refresh to show the updated result in corresponding cell formulas.
Microsoft have issued a hotfix to fix the issue for Excel 2003 as shown. Microsoft released a hotfix for this problem (<a href="advisory?ID=978908">KB978908</a>). Display memory tends to pick up data from hidden sheets and pastes it
into the active screen. No impact on the file. This occurs when protecting and unprotecting worksheets in VBA. I also suspect that enabling and disabling screen refresh contributes to this problem. In any case there is a fix, albeit with the following disclaimer:
As of yet I have not been able to find a fix for this for office 2010 and 2013, Any suggestions would be great.

    Hi,
Based on your description, Excel does not show the text strings when you typing. It may be caused by the cell format, if we set the cell format as ";;;" in custom format, it will not display the text that you typed.
And the issue may be caused by the third-party input method, there are some compatibility issue between them.
If the issue still exits, please try the following methods
    Verify/install the latest updates
    Repair your Office program

  • My imac turns on.. but the screen doesn't!

I woke up my computer from sleep one day by using the mouse and then it brought me to the desktop... then it froze. So, I simply did force shut down by pressing the button. Now when I press the power button, computer turns on (I hear the fan and CPU turning on) and the light on the bottom right corner lights up, but the screen doesn't show anything; it remains black. There is no dong startup sound or apple logo startup or anything. I tried doing the PRAM reset (that did nothing since I can't see the screen anyway). I have no warranty or anything. Can someone help me with my issue? Thanks.

Did resetting the SMC help for you? Or have you found another solution.
I ask because the iMac I have is doing exactly the same - the disk spins, fan makes noises, white sleep light comes on (permanently) but the screen stays black.
Resetting the SMC did not work for me plus I also tried removing the RAM and re-inserting - still no joy.
I also tried the thing where you plug the power cable back in while holding the on off button in - in this case the fan just went onto maximum speed until I turned the iMac off again.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • The left part of the screen doesn't work very well

The left part of the screen doesn't work very well. It's hard to erase a letter, and impossible to me to insert the "P".
Does it means that I need to replace the screen? Or there is a other solution?

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.
If you've gone through ALL the troubleshooting steps and you're still having the problem, then you most likely have a hardware issue and will need to bring your phone to Apple for evaluation.

  • Why, when selecting the options box in the tools tab, does the whole page become unusable???? I cannot set my homepage at all.... very annoying..

On Saturday I upgraded to version 10 beta, after installing the version, the options box in the Tools tab will not function. When selected the screen is "blocked out" and the only way forward is to Ctrl+Alt+Del to reset the browser.
I have tried several times to re install but the settings are dragged into the new version. If this keeps on happening I will revert to the original browser.
