Why when I change itunes file name does it not change the info in the folder?

So you download music it has it's info in the folders if you click in the order of music- artist- album - then it displays the file
Q1, if you edit the iTunes name of the file (through iTunes) why does it leave the folder name the same??
Q2, How can you make what displays in your iTunes library (worded wise) display like that in your windows folders without going through each file 1 by 1 twice?

Check your setting under Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Keep iTunes Media folder organized.
Changes in capital letters may not be enforced.

  • Change upload file name with com.oreilly.servlet.MultipartRequest to handle the file upload

    1. when use com.oreilly.servlet.MultipartRequest to handle the file upload, can I change the upload file name .
    2. how com.oreilly.servlet.MultipartReques handle file upload? do it change to byte ?
    what  different?  if I use the following method?
       File uploadedFile = (File) mp.getFile("filename");
                   FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(filename);
                    byte[] uploadedFileBuf = new byte[(int) uploadedFile.length()];
                   fos.write(data);
                 fos.close();

    My questions are
    1) when use oreilly package to do file upload , it looks like i line of code is enough to store the upload file in the
    file direction.
    MultipartRequest multi =

    why some example still use FileOutputStream?

  • Why when I delete photos (from disk) does it not clear space on my hard drive?

    I went from 800  photos to 51 and my available HD space remains the same.  So in total I deleted about 750 20+MB files.  I should have more space free on my hard drive but there is nothing.  I make sure to choose "delete from disk" as opposed to just "remove" so I can't imagine the problem.  I even went back in and erased back ups in the lightroom folder wondering if maybe the images were hiding out there.  Deleting back up folders made nominal difference.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Rob,
    You are right. It was GB not MB.  I am sure the disk I am looking at is the correct one.  I go to the apple, about this mac, more info, storage.  Unfortunately I just hit empty trash over and over without looking to see if the files made it in.  It has always cleared space before so I assumed it would this time.  I do think they made it as I always heard the sound of the trash clearing but I did not actually look for the files first.
    I did a lot of research yesterday as to what could be going on and found an article that said time machine backs up locally on my HD and if I want space I can disable that.  I found the folder with the back ups and saw there were many.  I followed the tutorial online and disabled the back ups and now the folder is gone so you would think- more space.  Not one single GB was returned.
    I ended up erasing music and photos from iPhoto and a few movies and space cleared when I did those things.  Still wondering what happened and want the other space back.  750 raw files is a lot of space, or should be.
    Wondering if there is some back up to the back up somewhere.....
    Thanks for responding .. I will take all input I can get!

  • Why when I plug in my iPod does it say I don't have the privilege to makes changes?

    I plugged in my iPod to my computer a couple of days ago at night to sync new music and in the morning when I unplugged it, all the music on my iPod was deleted. • Why when i click to open safari does it keep telling me the safari browser version i am using does not support the community toolbar ?

    Why when I am clicking into safari does a message appear telling me that the Safari Browser version I am using does not support the community toolbar ???

    You installed the Conduit spyware. To remove it, back up all data, then follow these instructions.
    If the instructions don't work, proceed as follows.
    Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Conduit
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). From the Finder menu bar, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder…
    Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return. A Finder window should open with a folder named "Conduit" selected. If it does, delete the selected item.
    Repeat with this line:
    /Applications/Toolbars
    Now you're deleting a folder named "Toolbars". You may be prompted for your login password. Next, copy this line:
    /Library
    Select Go to Folder… again and paste. Don't delete the Library folder. Delete only the following items inside it, if they exist.
    Application Support/Conduit
    InputManagers/CTLoader
    LaunchAgents/com.conduit.loader.agent.plist
    ScriptingAdditions/ct_scripting.osax
    Close the Finder windows you opened. Log out and log back in.
    I've seen a report that Conduit may be bundled with a scam "utility" called "MacKeeper." If you installed MacKeeper, you should remove it according to the developer's instructions. It's worthless and causes many problems reported on this site.

  • HT1347 I have an mp3 DVD with episodes of Gunsmoke.  iTunes imports them, but does not sort them correctly by date or episode.  One file name is GS 52-04-26 001 Billy the Kid.mp3

    I have an mp3 DVD with episodes of Gunsmoke.  iTunes imports them, but does not sort them correctly by date or episode.  One file name is GS 52-04-26 001 Billy the Kid.mp3.  iTunes sorts them by month/day/year.  How can I fix that?

    The weird thing is, it worked before. I encoded all the videos previously and had them all listed and didn't encounter this problem, but I noticed I'd forgotten to decomb/detelecine the videos so I deleted everything and re-encoded it all. AFter filling the tags out and setting poster frames again I was thinking of making life easier by just pasting the same artwork for every episode, so I did, but didn't like the results so I deleted it again (I selected every video, used Get Info and pasted the artwork that way).
    I think it was after this that the problem started to occur. In any case I've been through every episode and made sure the name, series, episode and episode id fields are all filled in with incremental values and they are. I even made sure the Sort Name field was filled in on every video. But this didn't work either.
    So, thinking another restart was needed I deleted every video again. Re-encoded them all, again. Set the tags for every video and poster frame again. Finished it all off nicely, checked cover flow and was highly annoyed to find it was STILL showing the same two pieces of art work for every video as shown in that image I posted.
    Ultimately, I wouldn't care so much that cover flow is screwing up like this as I always intended to sort by program anyway so it would only ever display one piece of artwork for an entire series of videos, however where-as when it was working it picked the artwork for the first episode of a series to display, its instead picking one of the latter episodes. I can't seem to find any way of choosing what artwork I want displayed.

  • How do I permanently change a file name?

    I have been ripping my DVD collection and importing the files into iTunes so they are available to watch using my AppleTV. For a movie I really don't care what the file name is as long as it is recognizable, but for a TV series I like to have files for the individual episodes and be able to recognize which is which. To give you an example, I have been ripping the DVD for the TV series Parks and Recreation. Once a file for each episode is created the file names I see in Finder follow the pattern PARKS_S2_D1_T# (where # is the track number for each episode), but when I import them into iTunes every episode file is named PARKS_AND_RECREATION. Because of this I have to import them one at a time into iTunes, right-click on the file, choose Get Info and rename the file so that I can tell which episode it represents. It is not the end of the world, but what should take me a couple of seconds now takes a couple of minutes. What is worse, if I delete them from iTunes and add the files back, they revert to the original name (PARKS_AND_RECREATION). I have also tried to change the name in Finder first, but that does not do anything either.
    Evidently there is a name/file attribute/something that follows a file around that cannot be changed using Finder or iTunes. I love my iMac, but these are the types of things that annoy me because I cannot see everything that is going on. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Not sure what is happening for you. It sounds like you are doing it right. Editing the info in the Get Info boxes in iTunes  should save a tag directly to the video file, at least it does for me. Make sure you are saving your videos as .mp4 or .m4v, .m4v used to be recommended as it worked better with iTunes in the early days although both work fine for me. I'm not certain but files such as .mov may not fully support video tags. In the Get Info window in iTunes you should have the episode name entered under the Name field in the Info tab. The Video tab is were the Show name, Season and Episode number are entered, all other fields are optional. In the Options tab you should also have Media Kind as TV Show. Clicking OK should write all this entered data directly to a tag embedded in the video file. I have some older files that iTunes adds as home video, but all other tag info is still there. If I re-add these to iTunes they apear as Home Videos in the Movies section.
    IDentify is a video tagging app that has the ability automatically fetch data from the net if it can recognize the file by it's name. It will write this and the data you enter to the tag on the video file much the same way iTunes should. If iTunes is not writing the tags to the video files give iDentify a try.
    Another app you should have is Video Monkey which is great for fast video conversions but I also use it for tagging videos. This app also uses the naming convention to find the info on the shows on the net. Files tagged with both these apps go directly into the proper place in iTunes unlike some of my older tv shows going into Home Videos. Using these apps will ensure the metadata is written directly to the video files as iTunes should be doing as well.

  • DNG Converter changes my file names

    What is the correct setting for keeping original the names when converting RAW files? When I try the default "Document Name" it replaces the first letter of the original file number with an underscore (_). In place of P1010036.RW2, for instance, it provides _1010036.dng. To me an underscore is a less than ideal as they way to start a file name.
    None of the other options seem appropriate. All the assorted serial number options are shorter than the serial numbers of the original Panasonic files.
    Suggestions much appreciated.

    I thought I'd posted a reply but I failed to make it stick, somehow. Anyway, thanks Jim for that. Makes perfect sense.
    Except I've just had a further thought. Why would Adobe change a file name to distinguish between color spaces if DNGs/RAWs are color-space agnostic? Where it would make sense is with jpegs, but name-changing doesn't happen there, of course, as there's no conversion taking place.

  • Changed wav file names – files unrecoverable

    Hi. I was asked to import some important imterviews made on an iPod mini and an ExtremeMac Micromemo onto a Mac, but, as requested, I change the file names first. Since changing the file names the files are completely unplayable, undownloadable and unrecoverable. Please, can anyone help.
    Matthew Whiting

    Hi Chris
    What I did was to change the file names of the wav files in the Finder while they were still on the iPod Nano, before downloading them to iTunes. The iPod Nano uses a hybrid file system, and once the file names were changed iTunes refused to recognize the files. The Finder and Mac OS X flags them as wav files but cannot read them. All other software (players, audio apps and file recovery apps) that we have attempted to use, whether on Mac OS X, Windows XP and Vista, and Linux Red Hat has either crashed, failed to read the files or ignored them. Changing the file names back to an arbitrary time, similar to the original, still does not help.
    It's hard to appreciate the problem, but two of us with many years of Mac (and other IT) experience spent three hours yesterday, on a total of 6 computers, trying to get something to read or recover these files, without any luck whatsoever.
    Thanks for your interest.
    I might be able to get my hands on some industrial strength recovery software, today, and then we'll see. The problem, however, is that the data of the files is intact, but absolutely nothing succeeds in reading them as wav files.

  • Change multiple files name at once

    Hi
    I would like to know if someone knows how to change multiple files name in mac. I need to name hundreds of files name, and dont want to do it one by one ... Example: Change from: Doc 1, Doc 2, Doc3 ...to: 2010Summer1; 2010Summer2,etc...
    Thanks in advance for any help,
    Joao

    Make an Automator workflow that changes the name. You would Replace text of "Doc" with "2010Summer". When you open Automator, choose Workflow. Drag in a Get Selected Finder Items and then drag in a Rename Finder Items. Select the "Replace Text" option. Fill in the Details, select the files in the Finder, and then run the workflow.
    There are also some third-party file renamers. Check MacUpdate or VersionTracker. I don't know if there are any free ones.

  • Flickr changing Master File name in sync'd albums

    Has anyone noticed that when syncing with Flickr from Aperture that the sync'd images get altered Master File names? This doesn't have an effect on the images in the Aperture projects, only on the images in the sync'd folders under Flickr. I just find this odd as the MobileMe sync'd images don't get their Master File names altered. Has anyone else noticed this?
    Also, do the sync'd images, say for MobileMe, Flickr, Facebook, etc get stored in the Aperture Library and subsequently in vaults? I was checking in my Aperture Library folder and it seems that they do. I am just wondering why Aperture would store this as it seems redundant to store the same images twice. Maybe I am misunderstanding something. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    We do a high volume of shooting with weddings, so it really is not feasible to dub tapes or similar to get proper timecode. It is not just this tape but every tape that seems to have problems with working with timecode, and that is from 4 different sony cameras and importing from various devices (but not an actual deck).
    If any other ideas pop up, please let me know. Two other odd pieces of information. When I attempt to reconnect, where it should show the names of the media to reconnect, this clip shows up blank, without even an extension. It is there as there is a blank portion that is highlighted blue and it lets you search, but when you try to reconnect it either says operation not allowed, or it goes through and nothing happens. The second thing is that when you get the info on the clip from the browser, it says the drive for the clip is missing. Not sure if that is simply because the clip is offline but the drive is showing up as connected, so I found it odd that it says that the drive is missing...

  • Lost Photo after changing photo file name

    Due to duplicate file name, e.g. P1002534.jpg in my photos, I was trying to rename some of them to a different name. I did that through Finder and other tools (e.g. Renamer) but apply directly to /iphoto libray/original or /iphoto libray/modified libraries.
    After that I find that the thumbnail of the photo is still in iphoto but cannot display the photo itself.
    I suspect that is because I modified the file name directly and not using iphoto function, the index is all screw up.
    How can I recover from this, is there a reindex function or do I have to delete the iphoto library and then re-import the photos for the whole library again.
    Appreciate for any advice.

    I suspect that is because I modified the file name directly and not using iphoto function, the index is all screw up.
    You are correct - it is extremely important that you never make any changes of any sort to the structure or content of the iPhoto library - it is a SQL database and there are no user servicabe parts in it - and there never is a need to go into it
    How can I recover from this, is there a reindex function or do I have to delete the iphoto library and then re-import the photos for the whole library again.
    Best way is to load your backup from before you made this mistake
    If you do not have a backup you must - people, software and computers fail and when they do you lose things if you do not have a backup
    If you can put the library back exactly likeit was in every respect that will sork (usually that is not possible)
    short of a backup or putting it back you must start over using the original folder from your library and importing those original photos into a new library
