You installed the Conduit spyware. To remove it, back up all data, then follow these instructions.
If the instructions don't work, proceed as follows.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
~/Library/Application Support/Conduit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). From the Finder menu bar, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder…
Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return. A Finder window should open with a folder named "Conduit" selected. If it does, delete the selected item.
Repeat with this line:
/Applications/Toolbars
Now you're deleting a folder named "Toolbars". You may be prompted for your login password. Next, copy this line:
/Library
Select Go to Folder… again and paste. Don't delete the Library folder. Delete only the following items inside it, if they exist.
Application Support/Conduit
InputManagers/CTLoader
LaunchAgents/com.conduit.loader.agent.plist
ScriptingAdditions/ct_scripting.osax
Close the Finder windows you opened. Log out and log back in.
I've seen a report that Conduit may be bundled with a scam "utility" called "MacKeeper." If you installed MacKeeper, you should remove it according to the developer's instructions. It's worthless and causes many problems reported on this site.

Jeff, I looked at your link and
a) again, I never make it to an error code
b) I'm definitely connected to the internet
c) I can access secure sites; I tried connecting with the firewall disabled and the same thing happened, so I don't believe it's a firewall issue.
d) I don't understand the checking host sites - this is far too complicated for a novice user. It should not be this difficult to get a software running. I don't want to mess with these kinds of settings.
e) I followed the steps for the global sign in root CA and my screen looks the same as the picture here.
I can't activate the software offline as there is no option to generate a response code when I click on having trouble connecting to the internet. All I get is a prompt to change my password.
If the problem were simply connectivity from my computer, then why does the box completely freeze? Can't cancel, can't click on the little X to close it, can't right click on the box to close it. I have to reboot every single time. I know others have had the same problem and I haven't found any answers that I could apply.

The sort fields should generally be empty unless you've putting in custom values to sort solo artists by their surnames. You can apply common changes to thousands of tracks at once, just don't apply the wrong change because there is no undo.
It is a good idea to backup before undertaking large scale changes. See this backup tip for a suggested approach.

ITunes downloaded, but does not open-Windows does not support Mac script

I have recently bought a Toshiba laptop with pre-installed Windows Vista. I have managed to download iTunes, but I cannot open it. The computer posts a message saying that it does not support Mac script. I suppose that I need additional software (daemon tools?)? I would be grateful if someone could advise me in relation to this issue.

No, you should need nothing additional. I suspect you may have tried to download the Mac compatible version of iTunes & that's why your getting this message. Make sure you have checked the Windows version & nothe Mac version on the download page.

When I click on Firefox it does not open nor run

When I click on Firefox the little circle swirling shows up as if it is going to open but then the circle goes away and Firefox does not start. There are no messages shown for why this is happening. Firefox only opens when a I run as administrator, crash report comes up when I click on icon and does not open. Help

"when i started my computer today for the first time I clicked on the firefox icon and the crash report came up. I shut down normally last night. I clicked on start firefox multiple times and the crash report kept coming up. I restarted my computer same result. I then tried run as admininstrator and it loaded normally. Now the only way I can run firefox is if I run as administrator. I tried a new profile and that did not work. Same result.

If I open another Firefox-site everything is working as it should.
But when I am closing down the computer, I have to leave the bad
Firefox-site, because I can´t close it down or do whatever.
I have downloaded Firefox, but still the same problem.

Suddenly, anytime I click on an email link in Firefox 4, Gmail opens a popup window. This does not happen if I click an email link in IE 8.0 or Google Chrome. In Tools > Options > Applications, Thunderbird is set as my default in Firefox 4. If I go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options, Thunderbird is the default email client as well. Clearing cookies and settings did not resolve this problem. What is going on?

I have the same problem, and I also wondered if Google toolbar has anything to do with it. There GMAIL was set as the default mail application at first. I have removed that setting, but Firefox 4.0.1 continues to use GMAIL instead of Outlook which is my selection for mailto handling.

Hi, does anyone know how to rectify this problem?
It only happens on eBay, when I click on "watch list". It starts of normal but by the time it completes, the print has got tiny and moves to the left of the scree. I can use the fingers to enlarge it, but shouldn't have to do that and it reverts to small when I try to use it again! VERY annoying - it's only started happening recently, I've had this iPad 2 for 6 months, and it NEVER happened with my iPad 1!

It's likely an oddity with the eBay site - they may have introduced the issue with a site update. I'm not certain, just sugesting.
Having said that, I don't see this behaviour on my iPad 3. Try restarting the iPad and see if that fixes it.
I use the eBay apps on both iPhone and iPad - I find them much easier than the website - might be worth a look

Why when trying to setup my gmail account on this supposedly incredible iPhone 4S it keeps telling me that imap username and or password is wrong? I have tried everything I was told and still same problem PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME.
I have been working on this for 2 weeks. It used to work. I don't know what happened!!!

I have done that I think. How do I know if smpt is turned on? When I try to create the gmail account, I put my first and last name, then I put my [email protected], then my password & then hit next, it then searches my account and another page pops up and on the top left it says IMAP and then I follow the directions from there. I put in imap.gmail.com and then I put in the same info as the first page as in username and password, then I put in smpt.gmail.com and my username and password. I know my username & password are 100% correct, then I hit next and that is when it pops up imap username and or password are incorrect. What am I missing ?
