Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

Usually it's because you are not connecting to the internet via wifi.

Yes, same problem too; I've already sent an email to apple support and just received a very vague and unpractical response with "call apple support in your country" as main advice. I've obviously emailed back stating that I need a clearer response and I don not have any intention to spend money calling for support when updates is a free tool. I do also believe this is a probem generated on Apple's end, I just wish they learned to say "sorry, it's us; working on it!"

Cannot connect to itunes store for application updates

I have a iphone 4s that will not download app updates. When attempting to do so it shows a different apple id (probably the one i created first) and a different one is shown in my settings. Could this be the problem?

now i can only delete the app and reinstalas that is the only way to obtain the updated version app.

Is there a way to get rid of grey 'waiting' icons (for app updates) which will not upload nor delete from screen?

i have a 3GS iphone and have 4 apps which will not delete. i tried to update them but when the grey icon marked "waiting" appeared on the screen, the blue bar never filled nor loaded and has sat there for a few weeks without changing. i have tried to delete the icons but once the 'jiggling' starts there is no "x" on it. i can move it around the screen but not get rid of it.

TS1398 On my iPhone I can connect to Internet on wifi but can't connect to iTunes store for my updates.

Using my wi-fi as usual for email and FB. Then tried to do my updates in iTunes but message said "unable to connect". Shut down phone but didn't help.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Try quitting the App Store:
Tap the home button to get to the home screen. Then double tap the home button, and hold your finger over the App Store icon. Tap the red when it appears. Tap the home button again to return to the home screen.
Try resetting:
Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost.

Should you be in the Canadian App Store? Is that your store? Of not - or of you need to see what store you are in.

Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

If no joy...
Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.
