Why when I delete photos from iPhoto it deletes them from Flickr?

I find it unbelievably inconvenient. Can you help me to avoid it somehow, please?
I wanted to uploas all my photos to Flickr account and delete most of them from my MacBook, because I need some place for storage... But, I found out that my great plan has failed=(

The purpose of this article is to provide steps to delete pictures from iPhoto without changing the synced album in Flickr.
1. Exit iPhoto and login to Flickr
2. Change your Flickr password
Click on Settings - Password: Type a new Flickr password and click "Change Password" - make note of the changed password to avoid banging your head on the table later!
3. Open iPhoto
4. Click on a synced iPhoto/Flickr album
The following message window will appear:
"An error occurred with the publication of album "(NAME OF SYNCED ALBUM."
"Authentication with server failed. Please check your login and password information."
5. Delete the album on iPhoto.
Delete the album, or albums of choice in iPhoto! Since iPhoto cannot sync to Facebook, your Facebook album will stay intact.
6. Change your Password on Flickr
Either change password back to your previous one or keep the new password. This is up to you.
7. Re-sync iPhoto with Flickr
iPhoto will not re-sync even if you change your Flickr password back to the previous password. You will need to re-sync.
The fastest way is to do this is to select one picture from your iPhoto library and click the Flickr icon like you would do to add photos to Facebook.
Choose whom you want the photos viewable by then click on the "Change Accounts" button.
Fill out the appropriate fields with your user email, your current Facebook password, and that picture will now sync with Flickr as a new album. Do whatever you want with this album in iPhoto (delete or keep).
All your current iPhoto albums are now re-synced with Flcikr! The deleted album is gone and will not sync which keeps the Flcikr album completely intact!
This is one workaround - there might be others. Again, until Apple solves this issue, this workaround works quite easily despite the tedious steps.

  • Delete photos in iphoto not deleting photos from iphone

I import photos into IPhoto. Then when Iphoto asked to delete imported photos I click yes however they don't actually delete?
The next time I try to import photos they are all there.
I went into Itunes to check if my photos were synced and they are not. Any ideas?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
When you remove applications from iTunes, they aren't deleted in any device apart from the PC or Mac. That's caused because iCloud doesn't sync removed apps, but it syncs installed apps if you have activated Automatic Downloads. That's the reason why your apps may appear in all your computers and devices when you download one. You can remove the applications

  • When I edit photos in iPhoto it deletes them

    Hi,
I'm having an issue with iPhoto '09: when I edit my photos it deletes them. It doesn't seem to happen if I adjust the temperature or tint, but if I manipulate any elements between (and including) exposure and de-noise it deletes my photo. The weird thing is, it doesn't delete the thumbnail - this still appears in my iPhoto library. But if I click on the photo it comes up as totally black. If I want to email the photo it comes up as an empty jpeg. I can get the file back if I go into edit and reset my settings, but obviously I want to use the editor. I'm using an iBook, OS 10.6.8.
    Has anyone had this issue?
    Thanks!

Same thing with clicking on thumb nail and getting exclimation mark. Some photos I could click on and they would show, but not all.
Tried rebuilding library and useing time machine did not work. (I tried finding the missing photos in the Originals and Modified folders and they were not in there)
So I did this. > Aplications. Then on the iPhoto icon you right click and click on the "Show Package contents". In the Package Contents among the files and folders there is one called "Data" (this one had an arrow indicateing it is a short cut) and there is one called Data.noindex. They both seem to have the same folders in them. I clicked on the Data folder and clicked on the folder with the year I was looking for. Then clicked on the folder for the month I wanted. All the pictures were in there. I copied that particular month folder and go back to the iPoto Library and paste the copied file into the Originals Folder. If there was that month in the Originals folder, I would just replace all the photos for that month. I quite iPhoto and restarted it and they are still in there.
Now I am happy and I hope this will make others happy as well.

  • How do I delete photos in iPhoto

how do I delete photos in iPhoto?

Deleting Photos from an iPhoto Library
1 - from an Event or the Photos mode: select the photo(s) and use the Delete key to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the iPhoto Trash bin as follows:
2 - from an album, smart album, book, slideshow, card, etc.: select the photo(s) and use the key combination of Command+Option+Delete to move the photos to the trash bin.  Then empty the trash bin as above.
NOTE: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., with only the Delete key only deletes that photo from that item. Deleting a photo from an Event deletes ALL occurences of that photo in the library.

  • Why when I email photos from iPhoto do they not show in my sent items in my mail ?

Why when I email photos from iPhoto using the share option does the email not show up in my sent items box in Mail. The emails are arriving ok but I do not have a record of the email being sent. Bit confused. I am new to my iMac .

If you are using the iPhoto email client there is no sent mail box
My suggestion is to set Mail as your email client and then you have everythin in Mail and have a sent mail box

  • When I upload photos to iPhoto from my iPhone and then press delete from iPhone it does not delete them, how do I fix this?

When I upload photos to iPhoto from my iPhone and then press delete from iPhone it does not delete them, how do I fix this?

I am having the same problems as this person. I see that someone said there is no way to retrieve the pictures once it gets stuck in recovery mode.
Then further along someone said that there are data retrieval methods except they have something to do with jail breaking a phone.
My phone is already jail broken. It was kind of a gift from the company I work for- it was a fellow employees before. He jail broke it and then it was given to me. After I got it I activated the 4 and tried to back up everything. It didn't work and "Springboard" forced the phone into safety mode. So I could use it with the old dude's apps and my contacts. I made the mistake of using the phone for wedding dress shopping with a friend. I took tons of pictures.
After this I found out the messages I was seeing meant it was jail broken. At&t said to force restore the phone - iTunes wouldn't recognize it in safety mode. I'm an idiot and didn't realize what this meant for my pictures. It didn't work (error 1611) - thankfully. Now it is stuck in recovery mode (iTunes icon and USB cable picture).
Can I access that media in any way? It never suceeded restoring itself so is it still there? The phone is jail broken already so is there a method I can use?

No you do not need to delete the current version and no you do not import anything
just backup your iPhoto library and upgrade  the iPhoto application will upgrade your existing library when you launch it - No importing involved (never iomport an iPhoto library into an iPhoto library)

  • Why when I export photos from I photo to the desk top , and then to a CD they end up as alis  and some are not really there?

Why when I export photos from I photo to the desk top , and then to a CD they end up as alis  and some are not really there?

Why? Because of something you are doing wrong - however unless you actually tell us what you are doing - and what version of iPhoto you have - and any other detail that might help no one can even gess.
Exactly how are you exporting? Are the photos successfully exported to the desktop? How are you moving to the CD? why do you think they are not there?

  • I want to delete photos that I have backed up from my computer, but when I go to select there is a faded trash can icon which I cant access

I want to delete photos that I have backed up from my computer, but when I go to select there is a faded trash can icon which I cant access

If you copied the photos in question to your iPhone by connecting to itunes on your computer you need to do this again. Start itunes on your computer, connect your iPhone, select your iPhone in itunes and select the photos tab. as long as you are connecting with the same computer you should see, in the Photos TSB, a list of the photo albums on your computer. Those that were synced previously have a check mark and are selected. Deselect those you no longer want on the phone and then click on Apply or Sync. The deselected albums will be deleted from your iPhone but they will remain on your computer.
if you only want to remove a few specific photos from various albums on your iphone, then move those photos out of the albums they are in on your computer. Then sync with iTunes. The photos you removed from the albums on your computer will be deleted from the albums on your iPhone when you click on Apply or Sync.

  • How do I delete photos in iPhoto '11?

I have a lot of photos I want to delete from my library. I can find most of them using a Smart Album. When I am browsing the album I cannot delete photos. Pressing either Delete key does nothing, clicking the Trash icon does nothing. I flagged the photos then tried deleting them from the Flagged album. No dice, they just disappear (I guess I just unflagged them).
Some of the pictures are videos.
This is just too damned much. I am not a ludite. I should not have to get help just to delete some pictures.

Why isn’t htat in the help files anywhere? There’s nothing that says Delete, drag to trash, or right-click and select Trash only works in Events and nothing about using modifiers.
Scott, you are right. That is buggy - either the program is buggy or the help text is wrong.
There is no sense in displaying a Trash bin in the pop-up panel, that does nothing when clicked.
Send feedback to Apple and file a bug report using the feedback form:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html
However, it makes sense to have two different commands when deleting from an album or smart album: You need to be able to say if to remove photos from the album or if you want to delete them from the library, so you need different shortcuts. And the shortcut to delete is the more complicated one, so you do not do this accidentally.

  • Delete photos in iPhoto and External HDD  simultaneously?

Hello. I have 256SSD so its too little for me to save my large photo gallery on laptop. I use for it external HDD.  So i have next problem: when i delete photos in iPhoto they are deleted from only application and it stays in EXT HDD, but I want iPhoto to do it simultaneously, when i delete in iPhoto it should delete in hdd too. In preferances there is no such feature. Couldnt find anything in google about this subject. If there's no built in feature what you suggest me to do to solve this problem? thanks

If a manged library iPhoto will delete the original file that was imported into it.
If a referenced library you will have to delete the "source" file after deleting the photos from the library.
We strongly recommend against a "referenced" library because of the problems it's liable to encounter.

  • Deleting photos in iPhoto, deleted my FB/Flickr account photo too

I have shared photo on Facebook or Flickr using iPhoto. If I delete those photos in iPhoto, it deletes photo from there too. How can I prevent this and delete only from iPhoto?

By not using iPhoto to upload.
When you do this you're telling iPhoto that you want it to manage your photos online too. So when you delete them from iPhoto, it assumes that you no longet want the photos anywhere. As you don't want to manage the photos online with iPhoto, don't use it to upload.

  • How to delete the photos in network folder while deleting photos in iPhoto?

    Hi,
How to delete the photos in network folder while deleting photos in iPhoto?
I have emptied the iPhoto Trash but the photos in network folder are still not deleted.
In iPhoto Preferences, Advance, Importing, I have UNCHECKED "Copy Items to iPhoto Library."
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v432/philipcs/Screenshot2009-10-26at120221AM.p ng
    Please help. Thanks.

iPhoto is a relational database management program and manages only items that it controls - items within its library - it does not and will not do anything with any photo that is not in the library except to delete photos from cameras after import - and this is not recommended
You are running a referenced library and it is not recommended - it makes deleting photos more difficult as you are seeing, it makes importing photos more difficult and it makes replacing or upgrading hardware much more difficult

Please help and guide me how to delete photos in iphone which is transferred from mac book iphoto..
    Regards

You need to do it through iTunes, by unsyncing them
Wtih  your iPhone connected, open iTunes on your computer, and click on your iPhone's name.
This should bring up the Overview Page, then click on the Photos Tab.
From their uncheck the folders that have the images you want top remove from your phone. Then sync the phone. itunes will remove the pictures during the sync process.

  • If I delete photos in "iPhoto" will those photos also delete in the application "Photos"

Hey guys! I was wondering if I delete photos in "iPhoto" will those photos also delete in the new application "Photos".
I transfered all my photos to "Photos" the second it came out, so I'd find it strange if I still needed "iPhoto"
    Thanks a lot!

No, they will not be deleted from Photos. The two libraries are totally independent of each other.
YEs, you can now delete the iPhoto Library, but if you want yo do this to gain disk space, you won't see much of a difference. Reason being that both Libraries merely point to the same image files on your disk via hard links.
For now, I would suggest moving the iPhoto Library to an external disk "just in case."
