Why when I email photos from iPhoto do they not show in my sent items in my mail ?

Why when I email photos from iPhoto using the share option does the email not show up in my sent items box in Mail. The emails are arriving ok but I do not have a record of the email being sent. Bit confused. I am new to my iMac .

If you are using the iPhoto email client there is no sent mail box
My suggestion is to set Mail as your email client and then you have everythin in Mail and have a sent mail box

  • Why when I print photos from iphoto are they grainy ? They did not used to be.

When I print from Iphoto they are grainy, they did not previously. In other programs they are fine, so it is not the printer,

What version of iPhoto? What are the pixel dimensions of the photos? what is the size of the print?

  • When I email photos from iphoto(9.2.2) the recipients are unable to open the jpegs - why?

When I email photos from iphoto (9.2.2) the recepients are unable to open the files, and command I tells me they are locked-
How and where do I unlock them?

You can't unlock files on their machines.
iPhoto sends HTML emails and not every email application (or user) knows how to work with these.
Send Plain text emails via Mail instead. That's pretty foolproof.

  • When I email photos from iPhoto.....

When I email photos from iPhoto (usuallly with some text as well) , the sent emails do not show up in the Sent file like they used to before updating to Lion.
I can cc myself but I would much prefer to see each email as a regular sent email with the recipient readily visible.
I send a lot photos to various people and find it annoying not to be able to see which photos I sent to whom unless I open each email addressed to me.
    Any suggestions?

    This is an iPhoto issue.
    In iPhoto menu
    iPhoto>Preferences>General-----> email photos using Mail.

  • Why when I delete photos (from disk) does it not clear space on my hard drive?

I went from 800  photos to 51 and my available HD space remains the same.  So in total I deleted about 750 20+MB files.  I should have more space free on my hard drive but there is nothing.  I make sure to choose "delete from disk" as opposed to just "remove" so I can't imagine the problem.  I even went back in and erased back ups in the lightroom folder wondering if maybe the images were hiding out there.  Deleting back up folders made nominal difference.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Rob,
You are right. It was GB not MB.  I am sure the disk I am looking at is the correct one.  I go to the apple, about this mac, more info, storage.  Unfortunately I just hit empty trash over and over without looking to see if the files made it in.  It has always cleared space before so I assumed it would this time.  I do think they made it as I always heard the sound of the trash clearing but I did not actually look for the files first.
I did a lot of research yesterday as to what could be going on and found an article that said time machine backs up locally on my HD and if I want space I can disable that.  I found the folder with the back ups and saw there were many.  I followed the tutorial online and disabled the back ups and now the folder is gone so you would think- more space.  Not one single GB was returned.
I ended up erasing music and photos from iPhoto and a few movies and space cleared when I did those things.  Still wondering what happened and want the other space back.  750 raw files is a lot of space, or should be.
Wondering if there is some back up to the back up somewhere.....
Thanks for responding .. I will take all input I can get!

  • Why when I delete photos from iPhoto it deletes them from Flickr?

I find it unbelievably inconvenient. Can you help me to avoid it somehow, please?
I wanted to uploas all my photos to Flickr account and delete most of them from my MacBook, because I need some place for storage... But, I found out that my great plan has failed=(

The purpose of this article is to provide steps to delete pictures from iPhoto without changing the synced album in Flickr.
    1. Exit iPhoto and login to Flickr
    2. Change your Flickr password
Click on Settings - Password: Type a new Flickr password and click "Change Password" - make note of the changed password to avoid banging your head on the table later!
    3. Open iPhoto
    4. Click on a synced iPhoto/Flickr album
The following message window will appear:
"An error occurred with the publication of album "(NAME OF SYNCED ALBUM."
"Authentication with server failed. Please check your login and password information."
    5. Delete the album on iPhoto.
Delete the album, or albums of choice in iPhoto! Since iPhoto cannot sync to Facebook, your Facebook album will stay intact.
    6. Change your Password on Flickr
Either change password back to your previous one or keep the new password. This is up to you.
    7. Re-sync iPhoto with Flickr
iPhoto will not re-sync even if you change your Flickr password back to the previous password. You will need to re-sync.
The fastest way is to do this is to select one picture from your iPhoto library and click the Flickr icon like you would do to add photos to Facebook.
Choose whom you want the photos viewable by then click on the "Change Accounts" button.
Fill out the appropriate fields with your user email, your current Facebook password, and that picture will now sync with Flickr as a new album. Do whatever you want with this album in iPhoto (delete or keep).
All your current iPhoto albums are now re-synced with Flcikr! The deleted album is gone and will not sync which keeps the Flcikr album completely intact!
This is one workaround - there might be others. Again, until Apple solves this issue, this workaround works quite easily despite the tedious steps.

  • Why do i get the alert window when i try to email photos from iphoto?

Each time i try to email photos from iphoto i get a window with an exclamation mark over the iphoto logo.  I'm guessing that the email has not been sent but why?

Go to the photo that you're trying to email and double click on it.  If the resulting window has the exclamation mark that means that iPhoto has broken the file path/link to the original file.
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
iPhoto 8 (09) and earlier- run the options indicated
iPhoto 9 (11) and later- run  Option #4 to rebuild the database
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager (iPhoto 8 or earlier or IPhoto 11 and later) and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the
File ➙ Rebuild Library (iPhoto 8 or earlier)
    or
Library ➙ Rebuild Library (iPhoto 9 or later)
menu option to rebuild the library.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

When I try to email photos from iPhoto I get this message: The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination. It won't let me change it, what do I do?

Can you send email ok via the Apple Mail application?
The username and password are set in the Accounts section of the Mail application. Start Mail, select preferences and select Accounts. Then make absolutely sure that the username, password and outgoing mail server are entered correctly.

  • Why can't I email photos from iPhoto?

I cannot email photos from iPhoto. I get an error message that says " the email server cannot send this because of an incorrect user name and password". I have version 9.4.3 of iPhoto and O/S - OSX 10.8.3

In the iPhoto preferences delete and re-enter the account
    Or
IMHO the better solution is to use Mail. Set it as the email client in the iPhoto preferences

  • Problem emailing photos from iPhoto after installing OS 10.5.1

Since installing Leopard I have had problems emailing photos from iPhoto. I can send from my laptop to another Mac without problem BUT when I try to email pix from iPhoto to a PC user or to post on my Google Group board it only sends the 'title' I gave it in iPhoto or the 'PC134567.JPG' the camera assigns it. I have tried exporting and attaching to emails but that doesnt work either .. at least not all the time. AND when I do send them from iPhoto to my office PC they arrive NOT as an attachment but are embedded in the email message .. seriously what the heck is going on and why is this not working the way it used to pre-OS 10.5.1? What changed? How can I make this work the way it used to?
Thanks for reading and hopefully solving my problem

Thank you again .. I got home and immediately tried the fix you suggested .. sent a 'test' email and it worked perfectly.

  • Since upgrading to mountain lion on my macbook pro, i cannot email photos from iphoto.

Since upgrading to mountain lion on my macbook pro, i cannot email photos from iphoto.
i can select the picture but when sending it, an error symbol appears.
    Any ideas ?

This doesn't work for me at all. I tried entering exactly the same information that I used to set up my regular email account and I'm still getting an error message. I even tried switching to using my gmail account and neither one worked. Then it got hung up and had to repair my database! I have a lot of photos on my Mac (thank goodness they're backed up) and I was really sweating it for a moment.
Apple is so easy until it's not. I find this to be really aggrevating and I'm irritated that it hasn't been fixed. In fact I did an online search and someone described this same problem in detail and it was exactly what was happening to me. Same error messages.
I'm frustrated that Apple keeps updating it's operating system and then we go through these glitches.
And while I'm at it, I have never had such a frustrating time using my login information as I have to get into this forum! Why do they make it so difficult? There's just something about the way it's worded that get's me messed up every time. Meanwhile, at least get iPhoto fixed!

  • IPhoto states server did not reply so I cannot email photos from iPhoto

I cannot email photos from iPhoto.  I checked the outgoing mail server and port and they are correct. When I try to email photos the message i'm getting is the server did not reply check your internet connection and try later.. but my internet connection is fine. Any suggestions? I have Yosemite 10.10.3 software installed.

Do you have two-step verification enabled  and are trying to mail from your iCloud account?
    Then check this solution:
If you had two-step verification enabled, you have to set up an app-specific password for iPhoto, if you want to use iPhoto as a Mail client.
    See the post below:
Re: I am using iPhoto version 9.6 and I can no longer get an email sent with a photo attached. I get an error message saying the email did not go through because the server did not reply. I can send the photo with Mail. Help!in response to Gary Kissler
This solution is for those of you using 2-step verification for your Apple ID and are using iCloud as the mail server that you are trying to mail photos with.
I too had this issue. The problem in my case occurred because I had setup 2-step authentication for my Apple ID. If you have done this then you will get the error message "the mail server did not recognize your email/password...". To solve the problem go to:
    https://appleid.apple.com
    Click "Manage Your Apple ID"
Verify your identity with the device you selected (if this step does not show up then you have not likely set up 2-step authentication and this is not your solution)
Click Password and Security in the left column
    Click Generate an app-specific password
Enter iPhoto as the name of the app
Copy the password and paste this into the password box in iPhoto where you would normally enter your apple ID (in the mail account section in iPhoto preferences).
    And...voila' (I hope)

  • How can I email photos from iphoto '11?

I am having trouble emailing photos from iphoto '11.  When I put the recipients address in, it disappears when I click "send" and I get some message about "key chain" and iphoto wants to use my confidential information????    What I ended up doing is dragging and dropping the photo into the email, but I don't want to have to do that all the time.  I just got this MacBook Pro and iphoto program so am experiencing a learning curve.  I must be doing something wrong.  Is it safe to "always allow" this "key chain" info?
    Thanks, you wonderful community.
    Sheila
Update!   I just tried this again by "allowing" for this one photo.  I'm not sure what I'm allowing, but the photo was sent this time.  Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Sheila

Sharing you are allowing the email to be sent.
Your SMTP has a password and it is confidential, if you do not agree it does not have access to that password.
