Why when I install OsX upgrade to 10.6.8 do I get message that it is incompatible with Mail 4.4, which I cannot now open?

Have just installed the Apple promoted upgrade to  10.6.8 but I cannot now even open Mail. I get a message saying that my Mail 4.4 is "incompatible" with the OsX. What is happening? I would have thought that the Os would either upgrade the Mail if needed, or that it would have been checked for compatibility before release via Software Update messages to the Mac.
But also interesting, I cannot find where I can download other versions of Mail from the Apple website.
Ant thoughts??

Try downloading and installing the 10.6.8 combo updater.  Also, make sure Mail is in the main Applications folder - not the user Applications folder - before doing so.  At some point Mail did not get updated, perhaps because of damage, a faulty update or it was in another location at some previous time.

  • Help! When I try to reinstall CS6 Design and Web Prem i get message that my serial number is invalid

When I try to reinstall CS6 Design and Web Prem i get message that my serial number (Design and Web Prem <serial number removed>) is not valid? Why???? I have it installed now on just one computer only. It was installed also on a computer and a laptop. The laptop crashed and couldn't restart anymore. I had to through it away. After that I installed on another computer at a place where I work sometimes with photoshop. Then suddenly I got message at my computer home that the serialnumber is invalid. I installed for the time an try out version, and now I have deleted the version that I had on the computer but when i want to reinstall my legal bought version with the serial number that i mention there, I get again the message that my serial number is invalid. But now it is only installed on 1 other computer. If I check the sites, I have to contact Adobe but I don't know how. The link does not work and I cannot find any phonenumber.!!

If you had it on a laptop that crashed and you threw away, it is still considered as activated on that machine.  YOu should contact Adobe by chat or by phone and have them deactivate for you.

  • When I try to drag an item into the trash, I get message that Finder wants to make changes; enter password

When I try to drag anything into the trash the message :  Finder wants to make changes;  enter your password.  But I cannot trash the document/folder, etc.  I can eject a disk/flash drive etc by dragging to the trash.

Choose your Home folder "Get Info" (command-i) and be sure you have "read & write" in the Sharing & Permissions section. Check under "General" section to be sure it isn't locked. If that is correct, launch Applications/Utilities/Terminal and at the prompt copy & paste this command…
    mkdir ~/.Trash
    Press return.
If you get a message that the folder already exists, copy & paste these commands...
    sudo chown $UID ~/ .Trash
    Press return.
Enter your admin password (it will be invisible)
    Press return.Then enter
    chmod u+rwx ~/.Trash
Press return. Log out and back in, or restart.

  • HT4623 When trying to install iOS 7.06 on my iPad I keep getting message that update failed. What do I do now?

I'm trying to update my iPad2 to iOS 7.06. In  Settings it says there is an update. As far as I can tell the download completes although it seems to download slowly. But I always get a message saying installation has failed. Any ideas on what to do next? Thanks.

I strongly suggest using the instructions provided in the "Update your device using iTunes" section of the HT4623 article you attached above.

Try Safari > Preferences > Advanced and down the botton tick Show Develop Menu In Menu Bar. Now you will see Develop in the top menu in Safari, click on it to open the drop down window, go to User Agent and select Internet Explorer and see if this allows you to open the page. Otherwise, as Deggie said, it's up to a Windows Install on your Mac through Bootcamp or Paralells or the like to run IE within Windows.

I have the same username and password for my Apple account and iCloud. My main email server is btinternet. When I try to share a photo by sending an email by iCloud I get a message "Server doesn't recognize username/password combination". Do I need to login to iCloud with my btinternet password?

Seeing others with same problem I have gone into iPhoto>Preferences>Accounts and changed password to btinternet password. It worked. Thanks.

  • I upgraded my iCloud storage but I keep getting messages that say haven't got enough storage?

I purchased some more storage in iCloud for my iPad but I keep getting the message that I don't have enough storage and my iPad hasn't updated to shoe the extra storage. What am I doing wrong? Am I missing a step?

Buying iCloud storage will not add storage capacity to your iPad.
iCloud storage is in the cloud (i.e. On the Internet). There is no way to increase the storage capacity of your iPad. You'll need to remove some content to make space.

why when i install  itunes 10 on my pc it warns me that  that it may harm your pc . my pc windows is 7

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
To log in iCloud for the first time, you have to do it on an iPhone, iPod touch, iPad or Mac. If you haven't got one of those devices, you can't use iCloud. See > http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup
You don't need iCloud to download songs, more when you have a iPod nano. You just need to download and install iTunes and put songs on it or purchase them from the iTunes Store. Then, connect the iPod nano and sync it

  • Why when I install a stand alone trial version of Photoshop CS6 I get extended installation?

Why when I install a stand alone trial version of Photoshop CS6 I get extended installation? I want only CS6.

    Hi Ilya Nazarenko,
We would like to inform you that the installer for both Standard and extended version are same, as trial you get Extended version.
If you have serial number for Photoshop Standard CS6, only then it would turn out to be standard version.
    Download CS6 products

  • When installing Maverick on my 17" Macbook pro I got the message that my HD is damaged and can't be repaired. I now can't restart without simply repeating the attempt to install Maverick and thereby returning to the same message. How do I abort install

When installing Maverick on my 17" Macbook pro I got the message that my HD was damaged and couldn't be repaired. (not good news!!) I now can't restart without returning  to the Maverick setup and therefore returning to the same message. How do I abort the Maverick installation so that I can try to return to the previous OS so that I can try to recover/repair the HD

I have the same problem with my 2008 MacBook. Repair disk from disk utility says it was successful but the installer thinks it's groundhog day after a reboot. I also tried fsck -fy after booting in to a command mode and it came back clean but again the installer gives the same error message. It seems like a bit is stuck somewhere indicating my HD is bad when it isn't.
I had the latest version of Mountain Lion and have applied every upgrade up to then without issue.
Anyone find a solution yet without having to erase the entire disk and staring over?
Attached is a screen shot of the error.

  • When I attempt to upgrade my 10.5.8 Macbook, I am told that I need at least a 10.6.6 to upgrade!!!

When I attempt to upgrade my 10.5.8 Macbook, I am told that I need at least a 10.6.6 to upgrade!!! And advice on how to avoid this Catch 22?

It's a requirement to access the App Store.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
