Why when i scroll my Applet (in browser) it presents flicker?

Hi everybody,
as said in title when i use the scrollbar of Internet Explorer the whole thing flickers tremendously.
I used Swing.Why does this happen?

I have a vague recolection that this is something to do with double buffering, which is on and needs to be off or visa versa. I think it's somewhere among the GraphicsContext related objects.

It really isn't a well thought out 'gesture' when a normal scroll action can result in an unwanted zoom but disabling SmartZoom wasn't an option for me—one of those with eyes that tire easily when reading very small text on a 27" display.
For a while I used command-+ and command-'-' to read small text but that isn't supported in some apps and for Safari it often leaves the browser in an less than perfect state when moving to the next page. I also tried option scroll to zoom the whole display but that was not desirable, either.
I finally settled on leaving SmartZoom enabled and remembering to double tap with one finger whenever the undesired zoom happens. It happens so often that the double tap is almost a reflex action for me.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
In Firefox 4 [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode] disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.

Most videos on the internet are played using the Adobe Flash plugin.
Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox are most probably caused by a recent Flash update and/or a malfunctioning browser plugin such as Real Player.

Run applet in browser when html file is stored in different dir.

I have a SiteSelector.class stored in: "D:\DATA\Java Programmes\Networking\"

Since html file and .class file are stored in different directories so in applet tag I specify absolute url in "codebase = ......" to indicate that the browser should look for .class file in "D:\DATA\Java Programmes\Networking\".
But when I run the Applet in the browser, nothing happens. But when I copy the html file back to "D:\DATA\Java Programmes\Networking\" and change the codebase = "D:\\...." to codebase = "." It works well. Any one can help me to hanld this problem. I want to run the applet in the browser when the html file is stored in different directory. Thank you.

Why am I getting the flag 'Invalid URL for web content overlay" when making scrolling panel in Indesign? Iam making additions to existing articles but the problem is new. The articles were originally made using CS and now I am on CC, which I have just uninstalled and re installed, no difference, can anyone help please? Steve

Hi Bob, thankyou very much for coming back on this. The flag is coming up towards the end of the preview process on desk top. I have made dozens if not hundreds on my two published apps on the app store, but have not done an update for nearly a year, in which time I have needed a refresher, and as usual went to Lynda. In this case I have followed to the letter your DPS course, which is great, and I found the process of making the scrolling panels somewhat easier than when I started 2-3years ago. Initially I was mystified that the flag talked about url and web content, but just put it down to something I had missed in recent improvements in CC.
I tried over and over, but always got the same result. I thought at one point it might be because the content of my slide was copy and photo, so for a test I deleted the photo. Same result, and many of my existing slides are copy and picture.
I also uninstalled Indesign CC and reinstalled in case of corrupted content, I also copied to IDML and relaunch, same problem. I am sure I have made the scrolling content as instructed, The one thing I havn't done is trash my preferences, if you think that would be a good Idea could you please direct me to some content at Lynda on how to do it in CC. You installed the Conduit spyware. To remove it, back up all data, then follow these instructions.
If the instructions don't work, proceed as follows.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
~/Library/Application Support/Conduit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). From the Finder menu bar, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder…
Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return. A Finder window should open with a folder named "Conduit" selected. If it does, delete the selected item.
Repeat with this line:
/Applications/Toolbars
Now you're deleting a folder named "Toolbars". You may be prompted for your login password. Next, copy this line:
/Library
Select Go to Folder… again and paste. Don't delete the Library folder. Delete only the following items inside it, if they exist.

I've seen a report that Conduit may be bundled with a scam "utility" called "MacKeeper." If you installed MacKeeper, you should remove it according to the developer's instructions. It's worthless and causes many problems reported on this site.

JTable Flickering when you scroll Browser Window

I am using JTable. I am having this annoying Flickering when I am trying to scroll the Browser Window. For example if I have 4 or 5 table in my page and it will exceed the browser size. If I want to see all the tables, i have scroll down to see. When I scroll, the table is Flickering and it becomes white and then only I am seeing the Table. Some times the whole table is destroyed by the flciering and then i am getting the table. This very annoying problem i have. I am writing all the code to draw the table in "init()" method of my JApplet. Please help me whether any solution is there for this.

This is a bug in Java 1.3 (Bug IDs: 4314208, 4337823), which uses a new fast DirectDraw accelerated scrolling algorithm which sometimes screws up (I think I read it's a thread race condition) and garbles the text. You can switch to another scrolling method, which won't mess up, but will draw slower. Use this code:
myJScrollPane.getViewport().setScrollMode( JViewport.BACKINGSTORE_SCROLL_MODE );In the application I am working on, I have extended the JScrollPane to a new class which tracks all instances of itself within an internal static Vector of WeakReferences, which allows me to change all the scroll modes at once, then I have a user preference so users can switch to the slower mode if they are experiencing problems.
Alternatively, you can turn off Java2D DirectDraw acceleration with a VM paramater when you start your program:
java -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true {your-app}

What you are experiencing is 100% related to Malware.

When I scroll over content there seems to be "pop-ups" that come about. Why is this happening with FireFox and not I. E. ? How do I fix the problem?

I'm using Firefox as my browser, the web content has content that is double underlined and when I scroll over it it pops an image up or some other sign up stuff. How do I prevent this from happening?

Most likely caused by one of your extensions. If the above doesn't get rid of it, check here next:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
Bear in mind that's it's probably not clearly labeled "annoying advertising" but may have an unrelated or innocent-sounding name. Disable everything that you do not use daily; if in doubt disable. Then use one of the links that appears above a disabled extension to restart Firefox and see whether that helps.

Why does some CSS not render when viewed from DW in a browser

I make a copy of my site on my local machine via ftp on my
local machine. The CSS does not render correctly for my top div tag
with the css nav in a browser from my local. It renders everywhere
else, even in the design view but does not render the same when I
view it in a browser from DW. Also, I know that there isn't a
problem with it on the remote machine bc when I go to the site,
everything is fine and the CSS nav renders correctly in the
browser.
Is there a setting I am missing? What is going on? Its very
annoying!

Why does the screen flicker on new MacBook Air when I scroll?

I just bought a new MacBook Air a few days ago. I notice that the screen flickers when I scroll and is not anywhere near as smooth as on my old MacBook Pro.

I've experimented with this a little more. I don't think the screen is flickering necessarily but the scrolling is not always as smooth as I remember it on other computers I have used. The text looks jumpy. Maybe it's the operating system? I think it happens more if there is a lot of information to scroll through.
Is this normal?
