Why when I select a web site to go to it redirects it to something not even related to what I was looking for

I have a gray bar under most visited sites that has a yahoo logo to the left and then a square with a x inside of it. when you type in the search bar, like sr-71 click search it will display websites to select from. then when you select one of those it starts coming up with all these adds, videos and etc. I have tried every thing to get rid of this. I am very upset with this problem.
If I go to my bookmarks and select a site I have saved it goes right to it.
What is this and how do I stop this.

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

The back and forward browser button always works when we first get online, and then over some time it will not work and then will work again (working again is happening less). I have re-started the computer many times to fix the issue.

I have a mac laptop and when i plug my ipod touch (fourth generation), the computer does not even know its there. I look for the little box where the devices usually are and there is nothing showing up. I need help.

Additional info.
This computer is a computer handed out to us from school that we use throughout highschool. We are allowed to sync our itunes accounts so theres no problem there.

No web site expert here but I would suggest changing the .m4v to .mp4 and ask one of those friends if they still have problems. .m4v is something I always associate with iTunes and don't really see it used elsewhere.

OMG, mutt is flying right now! Even with header and message cache is mutt + imap not the fastest. I reccomend offlineimap for everyone.

Hit Counter button not appearing when I upload the web site.

I am using iWeb version 3.0.4 on OS 10.6.8, and on the Welcome page, I added the Hit Counter button. When I upload the web site, the Hit Counter button does not appear. Anyone have any solutions as to why it isn't appearing? Thanks...

Where are you hosting the site? The counter will not work on ftp servers, only on MobileMe. If you are hosting on MobileMe increase the footer height considerable and publish. If the counter then appears you can move it closer to the body/footer border and reduce the footer height.
If you're not on MobileMe consider a 3rd party counter like StatCounter. This tutorial describes how to add it to iWeb pages: #13 - Adding a StatCounter as an HTML Snippet

I am sorry but I don't understand your instructions. Why would yahoo mail have anything to do with it when I am adding info to my web page which is through admin1and1.com. I am not even in Yahoo mail. What button are you referring to. When I use Internet Explorer, a link will highlight after I type it in and move to the next space. Check your document color mode and the mode of the color picker as well as your color managemnt settings. You can't print certain colors in CMYK and AI is correctly adjusting gamut based on your settings on that assumption. Work in RGB if you need "pure" colors.

How do I share/link selections on web site forum I joined?

I have memberships on several forums like dating site, financial advice etc.
It has a place to add music to my profile
But whenever I try to add it I go to itunes and it shows my purchases but then when i click it says no selections found?   Is it because it has to be in the form of mp3 (according to site). What form are i-tune selections in? If its not mp3 how do I make them work on a site requiring mp3.

At the time I purchased my selections I was a relatively uneducated (and still am) music rube.   As such I wasn't on any forums to see any of your warning posts, unfortunately.
If I might ask then, I have downloaded but never listened to all my itunes and/or music to a PSP (play station portable).   Is there any point in me trying to listen to them?
I do not get the concept of where the music is on my computer. Are the selections I got from Amazon and from my own CDs in the same place as the ones I got from itunes?
I haven't listened to anything and don't know what is on my PSP as i haven't figured that part out yet, how to connect it to use.

I recall reading something somewhere about the decision of Apple to do the 30 cent RIPOFF thing but at the time it didn't make any sense about what it was all for, yada yada.

FCPx answer: At least the answer that worked for me...
I had the same problem, as I believe many others had.
In my case the problem was with one of OSX Mavericks' new features: APP NAP.
It looks like this is ON by DEFAULT for ALL Applications and that FCPx, or Compressor for that matter, will not work if this is enabled on them.
I just disabled App Napp on FCPx and now it works, again, like a charm.

I can get on line and reach other sites via Safari and IE with the connection via Airport Extreme. But I can't reach my own web site!!!
And my Mac Mail is not useable because it says,

Honestly I've tried! Earthlink hosts my web site and they say its working - and it IS for everyone but me! Comcast is my ISP and they had me disconnect my Airport Extreme and connect my computer directly to the modem. Voila! It all works perfectly. Went back to Airport Extreme and same problem.
There was no 'event' that signaled the change. One minute it was fine last night and the next minute it was gone. Help me, please!

Near the right-end of the address bar is a white star which can be difficult to see, but look closely. When you wish to bookmark a shortcut to the toolbar, double click the star. A window will open with the name of the webpage. Under that is the folder box which will probably read 'Unsorted Bookmarks'. Click the drop down arrow and change it to 'Bookmarks Toolbar' then click done.
I have several folders on my toolbar such as Music, Mail, etc. in which I add multiple websites. If you wish to add a folder, click the second drop down arrow next to 'Bookmark Toolbar' and click 'New Folder' and give it a name.
To add a bookmark to a folder, again double click the star, make sure you are in Bookmark Toolbar and click one of the two drop down arrows to find the name of the folder.
For other bookmarks use Bookmark Menu. Whatever is added here can be accessed by Bookmarks on the Menu Bar. If your Menu Bar with Bookmark, File, View, etc. is not visible, click the Alt key and they will become visible. To keep the Menu Bar, click View, Toolbars and check Menu Bar.
