Why, when importing JPG in lightroom it ruin them?

Ok, let's begin.
First sorry for my bad english, it is not my native language.
I shoot in RAW files. After saving in my computer, I open these with Camera Raw program. Then, after editing them, i save JPG file. After this i open the JPG files in Adobe Photoshop CS6 to edit them a little more. So far, so good. Then I want to resize them in Lightroom because it's much easier and faster than all other programs. After importing them al the JPG files ruin. What should i do to prevent his happening again?
(P.S. 1. The same thing in Bridge after importing them. 2. I think all the effects and filters doubles after import.)

What does it mean to "ruin" the photo? Describe in detail, or show us a screen capture.

  • How to import jpg in lightroom 5 (cc) without keywords

When I import jpg photos Lightroom automatically also imports all keywords. How can I stop this? The reason I don't want them is that I actually want to re-do all of my keywords/imports. I know it's a big pain, but I feel that it needs to be done, as I've learned how to do things more properly (in theory).
Lightroom 5.3 (creative cloud). Fully updated.
    Windows 7.

But doing them via your method (or likely the only method) means that small batches in this way wouldn't work (unless I'm simply misunderstanding, in which case I appologize!). But this way means bringing in a few hundred and getting rid of keywords. At that point there is no use in keywording because after I bring the next bunch in I would have to sort through all the keywords and get rid of them etc.
Batch 1 ... we agree this works, all imported keywords are deleted, then you add your new keywords
Batch 2 ... you just remove the keywords from the newly imported photos via the method I described. You do this by selecting the newly imported photos in the Catalog panel on the left, click on Most Recent Import (if it is not already selected, I think it might be selected by default after you do an import), then Ctrl/Cmd-A to select all of these photos, and then perform this operation. Only keywords from batch 2 will be deleted. The keywords that you added in Batch 1 will not be affected. Then add the new keywords to Batch 2.
    Batch 3 ... same as batch 2 ...

  • How do I save space in my hard drive when importing pictures into lightroom

Hi, I keep my images in one internal drive and I have light room in my main drive.  When I import pictures from the other internal drive, am I taking up space in my main drive which has limited space.  I only want to keep the applications, such as lightroom in one drive and store my images in the other drive.  I do not want to duplicate the images and use up my limited space in the main drive that has my operating system and applications

Ask in the LR forum how to manage your catalogs.

  • Color Shift When Importing JPG Sequence into Flash CS6

I am importing a jpg sequence into flash that has been exported from After Effects CS6. No matter what I try, the color will shift when the image imports into flash. The sequence originally started out as a vector graphic in Illustrator (color profile set to sRGB IEC61966-2.1) and then imported into After Effects for an animation that I couldn't quite achive in Flash. The color profile in After Effects is also sRGB IEC61966-2.1 with the "Match Legacy" checkbox checked. I export it out of After Effects as a JPG Sequence and then import into Flash. No matter what I try, the bitmap images' color will shift (become dull) when I import. Even when I open the images in Windows Photo Gallery, they look fine - it's only when I import into Flash.  I've also tried PNG and .PSD Sequence with the same result. I've searched around, but still haven't found a solution. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am in the midst of trying to figure out the opposite : Flash to After Effects.  I am betting that this is an issue of 'color profile' attached to the images and the gamma settings in that profile.  RGBA is only part of the story - color profile is all the rest of it.  Eye Dropper doesn't tell you the color profile attached to the image.

  • No Preview available when importing pictures into lightroom

Using lightroom 1.0 and my Nikon d200 with a cf card I am able to see preview pictures when deciding what to import into lightroom. Using a new Leica V Lux with an SD card I am not able to see photos prior to importing into lightroom. Have searched for an answer to no avail. I must be missing something but can't figure our what. Can anyone help me?? ml

Are you viewing your CF and SD cards with your camera directly connected to your computer or do you use a card reader?
And are you Mac or Windows?
By the way, Lr 1.0 supports the V-LUX 1. Is that the same as your camera?

  • I am getting grain when importing images from Lightroom to Photoshop, what is causing this?? It has only just started happening!

Just recently I went about my usual workflow, doing everything in Lightroom I can and then completely the last touches in photoshop. Now especially if I sharpen in lightroom I am getting this horrible grain all over my photo when I open the exported lightroom image in Photoshop. It has nothing to do with zooming in on the image or anything.
Also, if I open the Lightroom exported image just as a photo and not in photoshop I do not see any of the grain that is appearing when I open it in Photoshop, what has happened here?

  • "Unreadable Files" error r/c when importing JPG

My computer was recently serviced and now iPhoto "doesn't recognize" my HD photo card filled with JPG files (photos).  My camera settings haven't changed, and I've never had this problem before.
HOWEVER, my daughter's same laptop imports them without error.  I suppose I need to change some setting beyond my capabilities.
Can anyone please offer some help?
    Thanks, in advance!

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
Other than that, have you considered returning to where it was "serviced" and getting them to "service it better"?
    Regards

  • Bad color shift when importing jpgs

Jpegs look great in Photoshop - lots of contrast. After import into Dir. 11, the color is washed out and faded and contrast is gone. Seems like I read about a solution long ago for a different version but can't find what is happening. What gives? TIA!
    Dir11 / Mac 0s 10.5.8

I'd archived some stuff and I don't have a good sample to show at the moment. Most files I import look good, some don't. Will post when soon as the problem comes up again.
And I'm importing at 32bits - that's the only depth Director allows me. My monitor setting has always been millions of colors since I first used Dir back in the mid-90's. I've just been informed in another post there's only one way around this choice - changing monitor resolution.

  • Poor audio quality when importing CDs (but only some of them)

I am experiencing a bizarre audio quality problem:
When playing or importing tracks from CDs into iTunes 9.0.2, on some CDs there is very poor quality and an audible crackling (like an old scratched lp)whereas on others the quality is perfect. This translates to the iPod as well.
I've looked all over the internet and am now thoroughly confused. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you are hearing it both on iTunes playback and on the iPod, it is probably an importing problem, i.e. the track is bad.
When you import, do your Import Settings use Error Correction? If not, turn it on and re-rip one of the problem tracks.

  • Why is my video being broken up into different clips when importing

Hello everyone. I just installed FCP X last night and imported a wedding video from my Canon XH-A1s using FCP, but I'm having trouble understanding why when imported the 1hr long footage taken at church is broken up into several clips. I recorded the clip as a whole and just to see if it was a tape problem I imported the clip to my pc using Sony Vegas Pro and it shows up as one whole clip.....what seems to be the problem? Is it dropping frames or is it just easier for FCP to import clips by using this method....I'm new to FCP by the way.
Using a iMac with Intel core duo, 2ghz Snow Leopard

Is that true Tom? In FCP7 (and earlier versions) HDV clips are imported as a whole, not fragmented. Every start/stop moment causes FCP to create a new clip. So if Orlando's clip was recorded as a whole, FCPX should import it as one clip.
    Best regards,
WA (still very happy on FCP6)

  • Ligtroom 4.3 does'nt import jpg

    Hi!
I have recently upgraded to a new computer with windows 8 preinstalled. When i tried to import jpg with lightroom today i discovered this problem; The thumbnails shows as usual, but when I click the import button, it runs through the files and tells me that non where imported because the file could not be read. I have tried both with a card reader, and directly from the camera. No luck. I works fine when I try to copy in windows explorer. Have any one else come across this issue?

This is most probably a problem of missing permission for the folder / drive you are importing to.
I don't know Win 8 but I'm assuming that in that respect it would be similar to Win 7.
In Win 7 you have to give yourself "full permission" for the folders / drives that Lr is using.
In Win 7 this is done by opening <My Computer>, right-clicking the drive in question, selecting <Properties> and the <Security> tab.
Select your user name (i.e. highlight it in the first window) and check if it says "full control" in the bottom window.
If it doesn't click on <Advanced> and again highlight your user name and select "full control". Click <OK>.

  • Why would two copies of Lightroom 5 create DNG files with different sizes from the same RAW file? (size is dramatically different, on the order of doubled in size.)

I have a copy of LIghtroom 5 on my office computer and a personal copy on my home computer. I convert my RAW files to DNG with Lightroom when I import them. Files I shoot for work also get imported on my home workstation. I noticed today that the resulting DNG files for the same RAW image are widely different in size. The ones at home are roughly twice as big as the ones from the office.
To the best of my knowledge, things are set up the same on both workstations. Any idea what setting might be causing this variation?

I don't think it's possible to apply lossy compression when importing directly into Lightroom.  I know you can do it with the DNG converter and on export but I don't think this is the case here.
In which case we need to determine which set-up producing is the "correctly" sized files.  What's the camera and what are the respective file sizes from work and home?

  • Import issue with Lightroom

I upgraded to LR5.2 2 weeks ago from 4.3. Install went fine, but I'm now having issues when importing my photos, Lightroom hangs partially through the import.  The only choice I have then is to force quit the program, which then freezes my computer.  Getting to be an invredibly frustrating exercise.
I have an iMac with OSX10.8.5 (Mountain Lion)
    Lightroom 5.2
Importing & converting CR2 files (5DMkIII) to DNG.
Images being imported to an external hard drive.
Nothing has changed in my workflow or software except for the installation of LR5.  I did read in some of the forums that there was import issues that appear to have been fixed with the latest release, however, whilst I DEFINTIELY have the latest release of LR5,  this is still occurring.  Any ideas? Another bug?
    Cheers
    Sarah

sure did. All permissions are admin & I'm it.  I haven't tried DL via image capture - LR4 gets me to the same end goal, tis just rather onerous to have to muck around with this twice.  Appreciate your taking the time on this

  • LR 5.2 hangs when importing pictures from the SD reader (Macbook)

Hi, I'm experiencing problems when importing pictures in Lightroom. The context is
    - Lightroom 5.2
    - Nikon D600 (always RAW files)
    - SDHC SanDisk Extreme Pro 32GB (UHS-I, 95MB/s)
    - Macbook pro 15" early 2011 (high def matte screen) running Mac OS 10.7
I have a recurrent problem when importing pictures in Lightroom using the built-in SD reader. LR starts the process ok but a few seconds later it seems to stop. If I click on a picture I get "preview not available". Even when (after a long long time) the importing finishes, the pictures are corrupted and I have to start it again.
The only solution I've found so far: try once and again (ejecting the card doesn't work, so I get several messages: 'disk not unmounted cleanly' or something similar) until it works smoothly. Usually 3 or 4 re-tries are needed. It goes worse with the number of pictures: the more pictures I have in my SD card, the more likely it will hang repeatedly. Very disappointing...
Any help would be welcome. Thanks!
    Cheers, German

Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. Be sure to not delete the photos after importing into the library.
If you are able to import into the new library try repairing your current library as follows:  make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
