Home sharing on the apple TV only shows itunes purchased music, not my whole music library. I can not find any settings to fix this issue.
How do I get home sharing to see the entire library?

AppleTV 2 and 3's main icon Music section is a shambles.
There should be a Music store as there was on AppleTV1. Crazy you can't access Purchases unless subscribed to itunes Match.
As Winston says you are probably not looking in the correct place for local streaming of your music library.

Did you select all of the music to sync by clicking on the playlists or albums or whatever you use in iTunes - in order for them to sync? Or did you click on Entire Music Library if you want all of your music on the iPad?

  • IPOD ONLY SYNCING CERTAIN PURCHASED MUSIC!!!

So, my iPod will only sync certain purchased songs. Is this weird?
Out of all my purchased songs my iPod will only sync about 1/4 of them. All of my songs were purchased & downloaded within the same day... so their should be no difference in the ones that are syncing and the ones that aren't. Right?
    PLEASE I NEED HELP!

Try playing one of the affected songs for a few seconds in iTunes.
Do you get asked to authorise? If so, and if you do, do the songs transfer next time you sync?

  • Best backup of iTunes purchased music: not cd, or dvd

let's say you have 30 gigs of iTunes purchased music. what's the best backup if you can't choose cd or dvd? i'd figure another iPod would be the answer. any opinions on the matter much appreciated.

If you don't want CD or DVD then another hard drive is the best bet. Get on of the external drives commonly available. Preferably get a drive with a fast connection that you can use like eSATA, Firewire, or USB2. After that simply copy from your current location to the external. Another option would be to use backup software so you only have to backup changed files.

  • IPod Will Not Sync iTunes Purchased Music

My 20gb 4th gen iPod is no longer syncing purchased music fron iTunes… I am working with the later version of iTunes and the latest version of the iPod software… I moved my entire iTunes library to a new computer and authorized the new computer (auth #2)… I connected the iPod and synced the library, but none of the newly purchased music went down to the iPod… The existing purchased iTunes music already on the iPod stayed there… The track information is on the iPod in the appropriate playlist as if it was there, but the song is not there… If I try playing the tracks, the iPod just goes through each track in less than a second…
So I updated the iPod with the latest software and did a full update to erase the contents completely… I plugged in and began a new sync… Again, all of my mp3 in my library came across, but none of the purchased iTunes music… The track information came over, but no song… So I now have no purchased music on my iPod…
This is a new Dell XPS laptop w/ Windows XP MC edition…
Anyone with thoughts on this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated…
    Thanks in advanced…

If you have made sure that both the iTunes and iPod software are current and have deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, try this test:
    1. Deauthorize the computer.
    2. Create a new user in the system.
    3. Download the free song of the week from the iTMS in the new user account.
    4. Play the song in that user account to authorize again.
    5. Restore the iPod (using the iPod updater) in the new user account.
    6. Sync just the free song of the week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it does, you appear to have a corrupted iTunes library file, and you should recreate the iTunes library file in your normal user account, and then sync your music back to the iPod and all should be well.

  • Cant download latest version of Itunes.purchased music not playing on NANO.

the problem began when I purchased music on itunes. The songs transferred to the Nano but i wasnt able to play them. it would quickly show the song on the screen but it would revert back to the main menu. I was told the problem was that the software was out of date. So, I ran the new utility (star menu, all programs, ipod entry). tried to download the installer. I was only able to connect the ipod and restore it NOT update it to the latest version. Restoring it would erase all my music on my Nano. PROBLEM #1
went to apple.com and support and download latest Ipod nano software- it is telling me "the requested application was not found on this server". How do I fix this? I paid for this music and cant play it.

So, do you have all your purchased music on your PC? If so, restoring your Nano won't be a problem. The music will just get put back on it when the restore is finished and up update the nano again.
And you know, it's always best to have a backup in case of a hard disk crash....read some of the tales of woe here in discussions about that.

  • ITunes purchased music not found in library

Hi there, maybe someone can help me, I'm having MANY annoying problems with my itunes both before and after the 2015 update.  Problems with both music purchased directly from iTunes and from cd uploaded music.  Main concern is inaccessible music purchased from iTunes:
*The other day, I noticed about 1500 songs from my library would not play within the iTunes program.  These are from previously uploaded CD's and mp3's, and then I noticed also iTunes music, when attempting to play would give the error "unable to locate file/locate now".  Sure I guess I can re-upload the hundreds of CD's (sigh), but I'm mostly concerned about the inaccessible music I bought and paid for from Apple.
I tried some online research and found the Account Tab->Purchased within iTunes desktop program, to re-download...however this didn't  fix the problem because some of the iTunes purchased songs having the "no-play/can't locate" issue were not showing up as "Not in My Library"... And it appears you can only re-download with the cloud button, music that isn't already in your library.  But when you go to play them you get the error message and it shows an exclamation point by the check mark box.  Some of these inaccessible songs however, will play on my iPhone and some will not.
*Next issue, I also cannot locate MANY of these iTunes purchased songs/albums on my hard drive either (I am using a windows 8 computer). Very frustrating when music I bought from Amazon is saved securely to my hard drive and is also playable on ITUNES.  Apple's music won't even play on their own friggin program, but Amazon mp3's will???
*Next issue.  I applied the new updates to my phone and my iTunes program hoping to correct the issues.  This did nothing.  I opted NOT to use Cloud at the moment for privacy concerns.  Could this be adding to the issue with the iTunes music?
I also have over 100 songs that want to be re-downloaded from the iTunes application on my phone in order to allow those tracks to be available on my phone.  I went from my phone into iTunes->More->Purchased->Music to find these.  Do I have to go through each artist individually to re-download them all?
As you can see, getting very frustrated with Apple and their constantly malfunctioning softwares.  Is this an issue I need to take with me to the Apple store?  I went in before for iTunes issues and they said they wouldn't help me because I'm not using a Mac computer but a PC and they don't help people that use PC's, even though my iPhone5S and hundreds of iTunes tracks are from THEM.  Should I just throw in the towel and buy a Samsung next time? Spending my whole day trying to figure this stuff out when it should be accessible being that I already PAID for all of this music, such awful software, jeeze louise.

    Hello JackieVall213,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that your purchased music has not downloaded automatically after pre-ordering an album.  Please take a look at the information below on how to download pre-orders from iTunes if you do not have automatic downloads enabled.
    Download a pre-ordered item
When a pre-ordered item becomes available, you will receive an email letting you know that you can download your pre-order.
If you enabled the option to automatically download prepurchased content in iTunes, then your pre-ordered content may already be in your library. If not, click the download link provided in your email notification, and your pre-ordered content will begin to download. You can also use the Check for Available Downloads feature in iTunes on your computer (choose Store > Check for Available Downloads) to begin downloading your pre-order.

  • ITunes purchased music not burning

I am trying to burn some Itunes downloaded music, They says protected AAC. I have the advanced settings on 1X speed and audio CD. I get an error code3 which says the speed is too fast but it is set on the lowest speed I can see. I understand that I can burn iTunes music but not sure what the problem is. Thanks.

Hi everybody. I guess it's somewhat comforting learning that I'm not the only one with this problem. I recently updated to iTunes 6, and just yesterday tried to burn my first audio CD off that new version. I've been getting the same "burn speed incompatibility" message you all are talking about. It took me a while just to figure out that the problem had to do with the purchased music on my iTunes library, 'cause I can burn imported music just fine. The iTunes Help index only addresses authorizing one's computer to play purchased music, which I'm assuming all of us have done. I tried "repairing permissions" on my hard drive using Disk Utility, based on what a friend said to try, and then actually managed to burn a CD-RW with my purchased music playlist. I then tried burning a CD-R with the same playlist, and the same "burn speed" problem occured. Doesn't matter what speed I set the burner at either. I make a lot of CD's for friends and such. Does ANYONE know how to fix this problem??

  • HT2729 Why is my ipod nano only syncing with some of my itunes songs?

It appears to be ignoring those downloaded from the cloud. It is not a capacity problem as there is plenty of memory available. THis problems seems to have started since I upgraded my computer. The previous one had Windows XP. I was using itunes match before changing.

Do you have pictures, or videos on it as well?

While it isn't as easy to just use a Mac iDevice as media storage as Android and Windows, you can add documents and such like Word, PDF and others manually in iTunes to have them sync as well.

  • ITunes wiped all but iTunes purchased music from my iPad mini and my iPod nano instead of transferring the cd uploads into iTunes. Is there any way of recovering my music.  Very disappointed!

Initially things worked fine. I was very pleased. I had my music library in itunes, on my Ipod nano, and a thumbdrive to back up most of my music.
When I tried to sync the music from itunes onto my new ipad mini last week it deleted the albums in itunes leaving me with only purchased itunes items in the account, On the new Ipad mini CD's from my collection could not be played but they were in fact listed. My new mac will not read the music files I backed up onto a thumb drive or show the uploaded CD music collection. Additionally when I logged into itunes with out any devices connected from my PC the itunes account was completely up to date with my CD's and purchase items in Itunes. As soon as I tried to sync it with my Ipad mini that virtual access to the collection was wiped out leaving only purchased items.
By trying to upload CD music from my Ipod nano into Itunes (originally uploaded into itunes from CD's and  synced to the ipod nano in the first place, taking more than a weeks time), I am prompted to reset the entire ipod nano to factory settings (it gives no other option).  I was following the instructions emailed to me from the applecare team. This was my only recourse for recovery of the lost music files, the only device left that had my album collection aside from the owned CD's. Now the ipod nano is being wiped clean and left with only the itunes purchased music ( same thing that happened with the itunes account and now the Ipad). When I disconnect the ipod nano to see if there are any albums still left on the device, it gives me an error that it was improperly disconnected.
I just wanted to add the music from itunes to my new mac and the new ipad mini. Instead I have lost all of my uploaded CD's and now have only purchased items in itunes, the new ipad mini, the new mac, and the ipod nano.  I have to  re-upload my entire music library into itunes/icloud from CD's again and hopefully be able to then sync it with my new devices.
However it may be better to buy the itunes purchased music on CD's from a store, Cut my losses while I can and never buy anything from apple or itunes again. Atleast I will not have my entire music collection wiped out for moving it between my own devices. Itunes match doesn't do **** either. I have wasted alot of hard earned cash on devices products and itunes purchases by converting to apple products and services.
    What a big mistake.
Very dissapointed with the interface. Very Very Dissapointed!

Had the same issue when I changed computers.  I backed up my I-tunes files, including CDs, but I-Tunes will not recognize anything but Apple purchases now.  There were 300+ CDs in that original catalog.
