Why will my itunes icon not open, when I tap on it on my iphone?

For the last 5 days I have been unable to open my itunes app from my iphone. Everytime I tap on it, it will open for about 5 seconds then close completely out without an error message or anything. I tried resetting my phone, and powering it off and on, yet nothing is working. All of my other apps work just fine (including the App Store) but iTunes will not open at all. Is there anyone that can help me fix this? It be greatly appreciated, thank you!!

Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

Also try a  Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.
If no joy...

itunes does not open when I plug in my ipod mini!
A window opens with the name of my ipod kiwi(E:) & a picture of a disk drive next to it.
I have to manually open itunes. No error messages pops up, so I can't figure out what's preventing the system from recognizing my ipod. In the system tray in an icon safely remove hardware if I it click my ipod ejects. My ipod still charges as normal.
Open itunes when this ipod is attached is checked off
Enable disk use is checked off
I ran a scan no malware
      Windows XP

So you connect the iPod containing a hard drive. I would guess you are using USB, right? Then Windows opens a window (wow, that's repetative) that identifies this as a USB hard drive.
    Am I close?
It sounds like you've told the iPod to act in Disk Mode. On the same preferences pane that you are telling iTunes to open, uncheck the box for enable disk mode. the mini should stop telling your computer it is a hard drive.

  • ITunes does not open when ipod connected

Since installing the 1.1 update, iTunes does not open when I connect my nano to the computer. Both computer and iTunes (when I manually open it) recognize the nano, so no big deal. Just wondering how to make iTunes automatically open.

Sometimes the Preferences get corrupt - if you set them off and then back on that sometimes clears the problem.

  • Can't use updater; iTunes does not open when I plug in myiPod nano

I am not a cdomputer wizard, so please don't get too technical with your answers. I just received an iPod nano 4GB and installed the software CD; I plugged the nano in using the USB cord but iTunes did not open.I tried doing the updater (9/05) but that would not run.I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, reset the iPod,but still nothing. Alos if I unplug my iPod from the USB cord and plug it back in, NOTHING happens.I must reset it just to get the Apple icon to come on and then the batter charges and the "Do not disconnect" message comes on. I do see an ! with a folder beside it sometimes. Read the support page for this problem, but nothing helps. Of course, Aplle offers no phone support that I can find, so I am stuck with either a bad iPod, bad software, or both. I use norton internet securities with spy sweeper software, but have not had po0rblems with other software I have added. Please help me! I am at my wit's end.
    Thanks

You can click "Contact Us" on any of the main pages to get the support number:
    http://www.apple.com/contact/
What version of Windows are you running? And your description of the problem isn't terribly clear. You mentioned that plugging in the iPod does nothing, but then say it causes the "Do Not Disconnect" screen appear on the iPod?

  • ITunes does not open when iPhone connected.

When I connect my iPhone to my iMac, iTunes does not open. The iTunes option to open iTunes when this iPhone is connected is checked.
What is the name of the iTunes preference file that I can put in the trash to try to get this to work correctly?
    Thank you.

  • Book icon not opening when clicked

I have an odd problem here.
In my Contents tab on the left side, I have eight Book icons
that, when clicked, open to reveal the Help topics inside them-
just like any normal RoboHelp project would work. However, the very
last Book icon in the list does not open when clicked. I checked
the original file and all of the help topics are under the Book
like they should be. When I compile the file and do a View Primary
Layout, this last Book icon opens correctly. The problem only
occurs once the project is built into the software I'm doing the
Help for. When I move the Book icon up in the list (so it's not the
last one anymore) it works correctly. But then the Book icon that
becomes the last icon doesn't open when clicked. So whichever Book
icon is last in the list doesn't open when clicked. Anyone have any
clue what would cause this? Thanks alot.

Hi Scott45 and welcome to the RH community.
Have you tried deleting the book and adding it again? Also
you can open the project's .HHC file in Notepad (or something
similar) and check that the relevant TOC entry is displayed
    correctly there.

  • ITunes does not open when iPod is connected

Although the option is checked in iTunes for this iPod touch, iTunes does not automatically open when the iPod is connected.  iTunes recognizes the iPod and syncs work as expected, but I have to launch iTunes 'manually'.
Both the MacBook Pro and the iPod touch are running the latest OS and iOS available and iTunes is up to date.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    Hi again,
I couldn't find the answer to this question when I searched for it using the title, but once I entered the question correct answers from previous users' questions appeared.  Seems to be a problem with the search engine...
Anyway, I haven't tried Jolly Giant's solution because the following solution worked before I saw it.  Here's how I fixed the problem:
    1) Open System Preferences/Accounts,
    2) Click Login Items tab,
    3) Check if iTunesHelper is in list, probably not there (If it is then try Jolly Giant's solution.),
    4) Leave the Accounts/Login Items window open and navigate to the iTunes application, probably in your Applications folder, then Right or CTRL-Click the application icon,
    5) Choose 'Show Package Contents' from the pop up menu,
    6) In the new Finder window that opens, open the Contents folder,
    7) Then open the Resources folder,
    8) Find the file named 'iTunesHelper.app' and drag it to the Accounts/Login Items list,
    9) Close all windows and log out of your account, then log back in.
That should install the helper that checks if a device has been plugged in and opens iTunes as selected.

  • HT3775 Why will QT 10.3 not open my .mov files after installing Mavericks?

Why do some of my .mov files not open with QT after installing Mavericks?

Were you using Perian before? I'm not sure about this, but I don't think it does anything in Mavericks as the plug-in API changed. I have no idea how to check if Perian is actually doing anything anymore. The developers have ceased supporting it.
    Try playing in VLC.

  • Why will some email attachments not open with firefox but will with another browser

PDF attachments and some pictures won't open.

The latest Reader is 11.0.01, not 11.0.1.  It is named Adobe Reader XI.
I did uninstall the Reader X and installed this latest one.
But it did not solve the problem, still could not open the problem pdf's .
I did find the problem was caused by the MS Office Click to Run error referred to in my original message.  As far as I know we have no use for that on my wife's computer. Not sure how it got there.   I uninstalled it and so far the problem pdf's open fine now.  Problem solved.
    Thanks for your help.

  • ITunes does not open when icon is clicked

Ever since I downloaded the latest update for iTunes, it has refused to open. I went through the troubleshooting page, but they all related to installation issues, and this seems to have been installed, just not accessible for some reason. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and QuickTime three times (including all related temp files). QuickTime seems to be working fine, but iTunes still does not respond.
*The previous iTunes update I downloaded from Apple also caused problems (mainly a notice that there was an error every time I opened the program). Because the program still seemed to work fine, I would just progress through the notices every time.

I think from what you are saying that iTunes persits in the task manager.
This means that something is blocking it from completing its start up.
There are a couple of things to think about. Spyware can do this so run a full virus and spyware scan with upto date definitions.
Sometimes security software can do this, although I haven't seen that for a while. Try starting iTunes with your firewall off. If it starts it is a sign that you need to reconfigure your firewall.
Plugins for itunes can do this, do you have any, even if not the ones I mentioned.
Another possibility is that there is soemthing esle on your PC interfering with iTunes, you can use MSCOnfig to invesigate this. Here is an article telling you how.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538
It is worth working through the original article I gave you. Starting iTunes in another account can be very helpful - even if you have to create one to do it, as some problems are account specific and others system wide.
