Why will my new MacBook/iTunes Libr not recognize my old pc-formatted iPod?

I recently switched from a PC to a MacBook and while I was able to successfully move my iTunes library from one to the other (by means of an external hard drive), my iTunes library does not recognize my iPod (3.5 years old) and thus will not allow me to reformat it -- the iPod icon does not appear anywhere in my library and the iPod screen just says 'Do Not Disconnect' (and will do so for as long as it is connected -- I once waited an hour before giving up). What I would like to do is replace what is currently on the iPod with my more updated/more complete iTunes library collection of music. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I appreciate the advice. After reading your email, I tried using a friend's cable and it still did not work. The iPod shows up in the desktop but does not show up in iTunes. Since the iTunes does not recognize the iPod I am unable to do the reset/reload standard therapy. What I would like to do is wipe the iPod clean and load all of my music from my iTunes on my MacBook on the iPod.

Why is my new MacBook louder than my 5-year-old iBook?

New 2.4ghz MacBook aluminum owner here. There a very low hum coming from my new MacBook, and it is always there. I don't know if it is the hard drive or the fan, but is is quite obvious in a quiet room.
I compared it to my 2003 plastic iBook, and the iBook is SILENT compared to the new MacBook.
I checked the iStat Pro stats, and the fan is around 2000rpm and the temps are normal.
Anyone else notice this? I love the new machine, but this noise is slightly disappointing, especially compared to a 5-year-old iBook.

A G3 iBook is quite different than a G5 tower. The iBook was silent and would run 5.5 hours on a single battery. Of course, it was a nightmare to change the hard drive. The video wasn't shared with the CPU like the Macbook. Unfortunately, said G3 video card also wasn't affixed very well to the logic board either.
My Macbook doesn't quite have the same battery life, sounds like it has a turbocharger when doing video or heavy CPU, and will literally burn my left leg if I set it directly on my lap. There is a reason why Apple stopped selling "laptops" when the Macbooks came out.

New MacBook Pro does not recognize time capsule

Just picked up a new 13 inch MabBook Pro. I would like to get my files from my backup which is on a time capsule (my old mac is completely dead). the airport utility would not recognize it at all. it is also my router, so i know the device is working. thanks.

On Mavericks manually mount the TC..
In finder use Go, Connect to Server.. and type
AFP://TCname or TCIPaddress.. where you change that for the actual name or IP.

Why will iPhoto 5.0.4 suddenly not recognize new photos from my camera?

I just installed a new hard-drive in my PowerBook G4. My old harddrive was cloned and transferred to the new one.
Most things work as they should, but found problem when I connected my camera to the Mac. iPhoto (5.0.4) automatically launches and starts the process to collect the new pictures from the camera. Everything just as it ussed to. The window asking wether to import duplicates appear although the two picture-frames are empty. I click for not importing duplicates and the process goes on. When finished a window opens telling that 49 files (all the new ones) are of an unknown file-type or do not contain any information!
What do I need to do to make my Mac and the camera and iPhoto to correspond as they used to?

It was so embarrassing simple that I almost dare not tell! For once I had connected the camera to the USB-port on the right side (which obviously does not have the same performance as the one to the left).
So when I changed port it all worked fine again!

I plug into a soundboard from a church and record with a line in on my macbook - or at least I did. My old one recognized the line in under sounds but this new one doesn't seem to acknowledge??? Help

I am glad that your MacBook Air can connect to the internet using your Time Capsule but I can understand the frustration of not being able to print or back up using Time Machine either. For setting up your printer, I would suggest working through the first attached article.

For making sure that your computer is set up and backing up to Time Machine correctly, I suggest reading over and working through the next attached article.

If after verifying that your computer is set up with your printer and Time Capsule correctly you are still having issues, please let me know what errors you receive or what happens when you attempt to print or back up your computer.

New shuffle - Itunes does not recognize

Apple recently replaced my shuffle, which was under warrenty when it stopped working. However, the itunes software won't recognize my new shuffle. What do I need to do?

I'm also trying out a replacement...THe orange light is blinking continuously and I'm not sure what's going on. The computer recognizes the ipod, but itunes doesn't refill. Any luck?

My new macbook pro does not recognize all sd cards

My MacBook recognizes some sd and sdhc cards, others it doesnt. When I first got it a few weeks ago, it recognized them all, but i had to try a few times with some cards. Now these cards don't work at all anymore. On windows laptops they still work. Any idea what the problem could be? Thanks

From what I've read the new Macbook Pros do not recognize a line-in through the headphone jack. I want to record my guitar on GarageBand without using the built in mic. Any advice?

I have all the adapters and stuff like that, I have recorded a lot of things on audacity on my p.c. For $2500 you would think they would have at least kept the input through the headphone jack feature in this mac. I am using an acoustic and an eletric guitar and I don't want to spend more than about $20 to resolve this.

I had a fast tracks usb and it worked great and at $99 it is well worth it. But if you plan on recording vocal and guitar you will need a XLR plug on your mic because it only has two inputs 1/4 and XLR.
Also you don't need a multichannel interface to record multiple tracks, only multiple tracks at the same time.
If your doing all the instruments yourself the fast track or fast track pro may be a good idea for now and then when you need it upgrade to a more expensive firewire interface.
And make sure whatever you get will work with your intel mac.
I just read some of the negative comments about the fast track usb. I don't think some of these people know what there doing. Comments like it only records on the left channel shows user error.

Trying to setup iTunes on my new refurb iMac. I have an apple id that is so old it isn't even an email both my pc and iPad are setup with a new apple Id the sales rep setup and it recognized my old Id in iTunes with all my purchases and money but, my new iMac isn't recognizing it....any ideas on how to connect them?

Nope - you cannot restore a backup from a newer iOS version on to a device running an older iOS version. The reverse works, but in your case to use your backup, you must update to iOS 7.0.3 - no other option if you want to use that backup.

Why will my new iPad no longer sync my non-iTunes TV shows?

My original iPad, as well as my iPhone 4S, synced perfectly with iTunes 10.6. I usually use the option Sync 3 Oldest Unwatched for the TV Shows that I add myself, but this no longer works for my new iPad; it does not recognize non-iTunes TV shows in my sync settings, and refuses to sync any of them unless I manually select the episodes. What could be the problem here?

iTunes will only transfer music from the iPhone that were bought at Apple's iTunes store. You'll need to use a third party program such as Senuti to transfer music you got from other sources.
