Why won't 10.6.8 recognize canon xha1

Why won't 10.6.8 recognize the canon xha1 video camera

THIS IS STUPID! One of the few things about my Canon XH A1 and/or my mac that really tick me off!
Nevertheless I have found a roundabout solution that worked for me and may work for you as well:
My macbook pro (2011) has a Firewire 800 plug. Do NOT plug the camera directly into the firewire 800. Instead, plug the camera into an external hard drive (i happen to have a 500GB Western Digital) with 2 firewire 400 ports. THEN, plug the external HD to the Macbook computer.
ODD, I know, but it works, i tell you!
So the chain should be:
Cannon (4pin firewire 400) --> WD HD (6pin firewire 400)
WD HD (6pin firewire 400) --> MacBook (Firewire 800)
Presto... recognization!
Good luck.

Why won't Lightroom 4.4 recognize my Nikon D600 when attempting to use Tethered Capture?  However, Lightroom recognizes the camera otherwize.

I just checked the list of cameras supported for tethered shooting, and the D7000 is on the list of supported cameras. So perhaps it's time for you to double check your camera settings to make sure it is set up for tethered shooting.

Why won't the dvd player recognize a disc?  The brand new dvd I insert keepgetting ejected.

Try cleaning the lens of the optical drive.
Use a DVD lens cleaning disk.
If you have a can of compressed air, shoot some in to the slot.
Us a fine microfiber cloth (eyeglasses cleaning cloth) wrapped around a business card and gently insert it into the slot.
    Ciao.

  • HT4972 Why won't my iPhone 4 recognize my sim card after update?

Why won't my iPhone 4 recognize my sim card after update?
I updated my iPhone 4 over wifi and it went through the process fine, until it switched back on and now refusese to recognize my sim card!
    Any ideas?

Usually this means the phone was previously jailbroken or hacked to unlock it from the carrier it was locked to, and the update re-locked it to that carrier.

  • Why won't my Macbook Pro recognize my iPhone 5s?

    SPECS:
Macbook Pro Retina, Mid 2012 (OS X Version 10.9.1) = up to date
iTunes (Version 11.1.4) = up to date
iPhone 5s (Version 7.0.4) = up to date
My Macbook Pro won't recognize my iPhone when I plug it in.
The problem is not related to cable issues as the phone charges fine when plugged into the wall.
I have tried rebooting both my Macbook Pro and iPhone.
My only guess is something in the latest iTunes update is causing this problem. Help?
    - TheStallion

I bought a new cable and finally tried it to no avail.
A few days ago my iPhone 5s lost all functionality (not due to any damage on my part). I took it to an Apple store and they told me that something was wrong internally and gave me a new phone.

  • Why won't single user mode recognize /sbin/mount command?

I need help from people who are knowledgable abou these Mac wonders of the world and single user mode.
I'm trying for the life of me to run "memtest" in single user mode and am finding it impossible.
After I boot into single user mode, I get a "Shell>" prompt.
I type in /sbin/fsck/ -y to do some check thing.  I then type in /sbin/mount -uw /
Both times I get an error saying that "/sbin/yada yada yada  is not recognized as an internal or external command, batch or whatever"
No command work at all.  I have no clue what I'm doing and am using instructions from where I got the memtest app.  Sure I could just run it from the Terminal but then you're not testing all of the RAM, only the available portion.  There's a huge chunck that won't be tested as OSX is using it.  I want to do this as I just upgraded RAM to 8G with Crucial and now my MBP is acting very slow and weird.
HELP????  Why does this have to be sooooo hard.

I found the solution to the problem.  Somone on a different forum had the same issue at one time.  The problem is my use of Refit.  When you hold Command-S at start when using refit you go into a single user type mode inside the refit shell.  So it is something different.
Instead I needed to let the Mac boot Refit like normal.  With the Mac partition highlighted press "F2" and it will display boot options for the Mac partition.  One of them is Mac OSX single user mode.  Simply select and hit enter and then I enter the correct single user mode and I'm off.
Then everything works like it should.  I was my own undoing with my use of Refit.

  • Why won't my macbook pro recognize my replaced lcd screen?

I replaces a cracked lcd screen in my unibody macbook pro early 2011. Under About this Mac, Displays, I could still see the old monitor plus the external monitor I was using with thunderbolt port. After changing out to a new lcd, and reassemblying the mac body, the computer did not recognize the new monitor. Why? I only connected the lvds cable to the motherboard and did not completely close the unibody and rehook up the camera and some other cabling which I think is unrelated to the display. I think that with only the lvds cable connected to the new lcd screen, it should light up and show up under displays. No?

You can try VLC, I belive it supports playback for AVCHD. It I am wrong, it's free, so no harm no foul. You can find it and videolan.org.
As for iMovie, it should recognize AVCHD, unless your camera has some sort of new or proprietary version of the AVCHD codec, in which case you can only cross your fingers and hope Apple updates iMovie as there is no codec plug-in architecture to expand iMovies native support.

  • Why won't my macbook pro recognize my phone's usb cable?

I have the samsung galaxy sII, my phone is connected so to transfer my music into my mac but I can't find my phone anywhere in my mac, it wont recognize it. Can someone help me or tell me what is the problem??

I had almost the same thing happen the other day - kept getting a message that my printer was not connected. I went to the printer setup on the printer's panel and the IP address was correct, everything looked as if it should be working. So I just reset my router - figuring that would fix the problem. No go. What I finally ended up doing was resetting my router to factory settings and setting it up anew.
And that's what worked for me.

  • Why won't my iPod touch recognize my 30pin cord? (1st generation)

(ipod touch first generation) i plug in my 30pin cord(to charge and to play music on my car stereo) and it wont recognize it. i have to either apply lots of pressure of pushing the plug in and up in order for it to connect. i used rubber bands to hold the cord in tight but now it doesnt even work with them on. i was lucky enough to find a sweet spot if i angle the plug in then it will connect but that only works when i charge it from my computer. If i try that in my car then when i drive the car bumps it out of place and i cant listen to music without it stopping every now and then. i dont know whats wrong with it? maybe its broken? time for a new ipod touch?

    - Have you tried another cable?
    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.
    - If the dock connector is bad there are some thrid-party places that will replace the connector. Google for them. It might not be worth it for a 1G iPod.

  • Why won't PC or Itunes recognizes IPOD Touch

    IPOD Touch - 4th Generation
    IOS 5.1
    Windows 7 PC
    capacity 6.4gb
    available 1.6gb
    Everything used to work fine.
My PC will no longer recognize the device.  Neither does Itunes.
I've done everything I've found online:
    - re-installed Itunes
    - re-booted device
I set up WIFI sync.  Shouldn't that at least see it?
I've seen thousands of posts about this online, but have never run across a solution.  I don't think the Apple store could do anything.  Please help.  Thank you.

Thanks very much, but I was already in the process of another solution by the time you replied.
I updated the driver. Here's how I did it.
I right clicked on the usb icon in the bottom right thingamajig (where you click to remove flash drives etc.) When you right click, it shows Open Device and Printers. Click it.
Then it opens a window. Scroll down till you see Apple Mobile Devices USB Driver. Click it.
It the opens something else. On the top of it click Hardware.
Then click Apple Mobile Devices USB Driver in the menu.
It will open a new menu. Click Change Settings.
It will open an identical menu. Click the Driver tab on top.
    Click Update Driver.
Click Search automatically for updated driver software.
It should search and install for a few moments/minutes... and you are done.

  • Why won't my Macbook Pro recognize a DVD-R?

    Hiya,
I have a recently-burned DVD-R in perfect condition (no scratches or anything) that my Macbook Pro refuses to recognize.  I put the disk in, and just get an error message saying "The disk you inserted is not readable by this computer".
    Any thoughts?

Is it really burned? I've had some false burnings, where the media is left blank. Look at it with bright light at an angle: should be evident by a slight change of shine if burnt.
If yes, does it read in other equipment? The optical system may be dirty; pick up a DVD cleaner disk at the local music or computer store, the dry kind that has tiny bristles on the "business end" that clean the lens.
Have you tried resetting the PRAM? I sometime had to do that on my previous and now dead '08 MBP.

  • Why won't my macbook pro recognize my wireless printer lexmark x4650?

My macbook pro will not recognize my lexmark x4650  printer to use wirelessly.  I recently had to change router and modem through comcast and have not been able to print wirelessly since.  I can print using a usb and the pc in our house is able to print wirelessly. I installed updates for apple, lexmark, uninstalled and reinstalled printer, tried adding printer manually using directions I found on forum discussions.  Any other suggestions?

I had almost the same thing happen the other day - kept getting a message that my printer was not connected. You'll hardly get an answer without telling us your keyboard model and how you are connecting it to the computer (with a midi interface or through its USB out?).
